    Hi David Castro,
    Thanks for your answer,

  • Hi I am hoping to add my 2 TB time capsule to my existing wireless network using cisco dpq 3925 modem. I have two mbp one running Yosemite and the other os 10.7.5

I have a time capsule 2TB model 1409. I would like to connect it to my existing wireless network (using a cisco DPQ 3925 modem). I have two mac book pro one running Yosemite and the other OS 10.7.5. The best I can do is to connect the TC to the Modem via ethernet. Have one of my MBP connect to the time capsule using a ethernet cable and have the TB set to bridge mode. In this configuration, both mbp and the iPad can detect the TC but when I try to connect it to the wireless network, using the same network name and password, the light flashes amber and I cannot detect the time capsule again.

    Correct..
The best I can do is to connect the TC to the Modem via ethernet.
The TC does not connect to non-apple routers by wireless.. well. It is possible but so poor a method that Apple seem to have eliminated it in the setup wizard.. I would take that as a good thing..
If you cannot use ethernet you have two choices..
Use another apple router that is plugged into the Cable modem.. eg a second hand Extreme Gen5 or the latest Express.. the Extreme is both cheaper and better.
Or you can use a set of EOP (homeplug) adapters.. but they cannot be guaranteed to work so you should buy from a place that allows returns.

  • Update Cisco DPC 3010 firmware

I have a Cisco DPC 3010 cable modem with a known security vulnerability as of July 2014. I contacted Time Warner Cable about a firmware update and they would not help me since I purchased the modem myself. They then forwarded me to Cisco customer support where nobody else would help me and it was recommended to this forum.
I there any possible way to update the firmware on this modem if Time Warner Cable won't do the update?

TBD from the article you’ve indicated is ‘To Be Determined’. The WAG320N is an older model for Linksys’ modem/routers so probably Linksys might not update anymore the firmware for this to address the WPS vulnerability issue. The workaround provided in the article is not the disable the wifi on the router but disable the wifi radio only. You can do that by accessing the setup page of the device then select Disable for SSID Broadcast under the Wireless tab. This feature will let you ‘hide’ the name of your network so that it won’t be detected by other wireless devices. Make sure first that all your wireless devices are connected to the network so that after disabling the SSID Broadcast, they will still remain connected to the network.
About your question – is Linksys going to offer affected users a device upgrade, probably you can call their tech support and verify that with them.

  • Port addressing and restricted MACs to a port Cisco Catalyst 1900

Hi, to everyone I want to ask if there is a method or documentation to guide me throught to give restricted mac or macs to a port via snmp. What are the OIDs and method? Any information would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your reply. So, you mean that I can do this via SNMP? What are the OIDs or the MIB? Is there any available documentation on how to do that?

  • Implementing WAAS using 3925 and 2911 Cisco routers

    Dear all,
I am new to Cisco WAAS and therefore I would like to request some help regarding the following scenario:
I have a star network (1 hub and 5 spoke) topology where each satellite site is connected via a 2 MB  (symmetric)  to the Head-Quarters (Central node). In order to be able to concentrate all servers (services) at the head-quarters and improve the users experience in remote sites when accessing network services that are located at the head-quarters we want to implement Cisco WAAS instead of increasing the existing bandwidth.
At the head-quarters we are using a 3925 Cisco router and at the remote locations we are using 2911 Cisco routers. Last but not least there will be approximately 75 concurrent users from remote sites accessing resources at the head-quarters.
Currently I am planning to use the following:
·At the head-quarters I am planning to use a Cisco Wide Area Application Services (WAAS) Module: SM-SRE-900-K9 with an Enterprise license (for large deployment) in the Cisco router 3925
·At the remote sites I am planning to use a Cisco Wide Area Application Services (WAAS) Module: SM-SRE-700-K9 with an Enterprise license (for medium deployment) in the Cisco router 2911
Is there anything else that I am missing or need to take into consideration for deploying the WAAS.
    Regards,
    Screech

    Hi Screech,
    Answers:
Is the  dedicated WAE hw for central management purpose a required component?not required as WAEs can optimize even without Cntral managementbut you will not be able to collect statistics, reports and will have to manage WAEs from CLI. This a kind of highly recommended management piece you will need.
What is the difference between using a full blown WAE instead of a  Sm  SRE module: Using a fully blown WAE at DC is recommended as you are then avoiding couple of bottlenecks.
    1. Bandwidth allcoation
    2. SM / NM models have low capacity, disks where as fully blown models like 674s have 10k/15k SATA / SAS drives.
    3. HW redundancy: you have backup PS / HD in dedicated WAEs in msot of the models.
    4. HW dependency: Your SM moduels depened upon your router / switch. If for some reason, switch or router goes down, SM moule goes down at same time.
    5. Additional NICs / HW availability.
There are various other reasons you might want to consider. You can ask your cisco sales engineer or one of the PDI help engineer on the forum can also punch in here.
but basicaly, I would go for fully blown WAE on DC side and central management piece as well.
    Regards.

  • Shutdown port with CiscoView - cisco prime LMS4.2

    Buenos dias.
No puedo realizar ninguna actividad con los puertos a traves del cisco view. me sale un error.
    Message
Cannot access the required SNMP object due to restricted SNMP view setting.
Ya configuré en el sw cisco la version snmp3.
    Good morning.
I can not perform any activity through the ports cisco view. I get an error.
    Message
Can not access the required SNMP object due to restricted SNMP view setting.
Since I configured the cisco sw version snmp3.

Your question as a double aspect and sides:
    1. Can you retrict access to help-desk users from device side?
    2. Can this be retricted from LMS point of view.
    Answers:
Possible from both the ways :
    1. From device side, you need to configure SNMP view for the only MIB you want access to help-desk and associate it to the community string (snmp v2) or password (snmp v3) they'll use.
For example, as per your last configuration :
    snmp-server view Bg123456 iso included
Coinfigure it with only MIB required for this operations:
    snmp-server view Bg123456 <mib_name> included
    Example :
    snmp-server view Bg123456 iso excluded
    snmp-server view Bg123456 ifMib included
**ifMIB is needed to do the interface operations, like port shut or no shut etc.
    2. From LMS point of view you can configure the user profiles and give them custom authorizations. It is known as user role. A role is a collection of privileges that dictate the type of system access you have. The Manage User Roles workflow allows you to add, edit, copy and delete user-defined roles in LMS.
For more details check here :

    -Thanks

**Rating is another way to say Thank you. If it helped. **

  • How do I make the following work with Cisco 302-08G ??

I would like to sniff (using wireshark) all traffic in my home. I have a 4-port Cisco wireless/wired router that allows for a guest account. I also have Cisco SF302-08 that I bought so I could use its port/vlan mirroring capability. How should I configure the network, given the aforementioned equipment,  so that I can get a single point sniff.
Assume I have two wireless clients, one using the "regular" wireless SSID, and the other using the "guest" SSID.  I can see 192.168.1.x (regular SSID) and 192.168.169.x (guest ssid)  on the internet side of the wireless router. So far so good. But, I would like to use 302-08 to actually allow the guest SSID/network communicate with the regular SSID/network. For example, if I ping 192.168.169.x from 192.168.1.x, I would like to see a response. Can I make them communicate properly with the 302-08 ?? if so, what do I need to do ?? (I will also have wired clients tied into the 302-08..so its important that it be the central sniffer point)
    thanks

  • Bonjour not working with new Cisco Gateway from Shaw

I have a PC running Windows 7 (64 bit version) and a 2nd gen iPad.  On the PC, I have AirPrint for Windows, Shairport4w, Calibre (for e-books) and AirVideo Server installed.  These used to allow me to print from my iPad to the Samsung ML-1670 connected to my PC, stream videos from my PC to my iPad, play my iPad's music through my PC's speakers (and vice versa through itunes homesharing) and download my PC-hosted e-books to my iPad's Stanza app wirelessly. It was a like a little Bonjour paradise in my house.
Then I upgraded to Shaw's new Broadband 50 internet and accordingly swapped my old SMC gateway for their new Docsis 3-capable Cisco DPC 3825.  As soon as my new gateway was installed, all Bonjour-dependent apps ceased to function properly.  I can no longer find any of my PC stuff from my iPad.  Even my PC's shared iTunes library doesn't show up in my iPad's iPod app anymore.  I've disabled all firewalls (even though firewalls should not be causing this issue), restarted PC, iPad and gateway many times, restarted the Bonjour and Airprint services alone, reinstalled Bonjour from the Apple support site, set my PC as the DMZ host in the gateway, disabled WiFi protected mode in the gateway and set the wireless to use G only, and etc, and etc.  Never do I see a change.  Cisco, Shaw and Apple tech support have all referred me to each other. I am about to give up and get my own wireless router to use instead of the free one Shaw's provided, but thought I'd check here first in case some one else had found a good solution.
A couple of additional clues: my (wired) PS3 can see the DLNA-dependent PS3 media server on my PC fine with the new gateway, and other forums do mention similar issues with a different Linksys router.  The solution there was to enable multicast filtering in the router.  I have not been able to find this option in the Cisco's settings, but perhaps it's called something else?

Same issue here.  It looks like another case of half-baked Linksys firmware (It may say Cisco, but it's the spitting image of the Linksys firmware).
Apparently with some work you can get shaw support to convert the modem/router into "bridge mode" which will make it act like a regular modem.  In any case though, these "hybrids" aren't as reliable as a separate modem and router.
Just got it today and it looks like for all of the high end features (Gigabite ethernet, wireless N) the router is still antennae-less and running shoddy Linksys firmware with bugs.  Apparently end-users are also not supposed to attempt to update the firmware (which I would have to agree with).
At the end of the day, we're going back to a DGL-4500 which worked without a problem.

  • Fax Blocked Voice Port (FXS)

    hi,
an outgoing fax call blocked my voice port. it stays in a busy state for days... shut and no shut doesn't put the voice port in a dorm state again, only a reload will correct it... is there any solution instead reloading the c2800?
    many thanks

    Dino -
If you are running IOS 12.4, This seems to be attributed, possibly, to a known bug with the FXS port:

  • DFM@LMS4.0.1: lots of Voltage meassage from 10GE ports

    Hello,
We got suddenly a lot of Voltage faults in DFM from 10GE ports at our VSS Core. Communication is not affected.
All other devices show voltage in a valid range and the VSS before this night as well.
An "shut / no shut" of the interface doesnt help, CLI confirms the problem, see below.
What does it mean? What can we do that this faults disappears?
    fli_rie_core254#sh interfaces transceiver switch 1
Transceiver monitoring is disabled for all interfaces.
If device is externally calibrated, only calibrated values are printed.

  • LMS DFM - Wrong Port Alert on 3560-8 Port Switch

    Hi,
there is a strange Port Util. Alert from DFM reporting High Util. on Port 1.9 which not exists on this Switch.
Beside this it reports a WS-C3560-49PS but it is a WS-C3560-8 with 8 Ports without PoE:
    Here the Alert:

    And here the Switch:

DFM uses the CISCO-STACK-MIB for the fan status; You can poll 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.5.1.2.9 to see what the switch returns. The values can be interpreted using this list from http://tools.cisco.com/Support/SNMP/do/BrowseOID.do?local=en&translate=Translate&objectInput=chassisFanStatus

    2 : ok
    3 : minorFault
    4 : majorFault
    The reason for this could be BugID CSCsh15007 for IOS 12.2(35)SE; It is fixed in 12.2(35)SE1;
For a solution, you need to upgrade the IOS.
