Accessing images from content areas

I have added an image item to a content area. I want to use this image elsewhere as part of an image rollover in a portlet. How do I gain access to tehis image so it can be used as part of a javascript routine?

Gerry,
You can create a logical URL to the image. Check the Portal online help for the topic "Direct Access URL". The Direct Access URL for any item is displayed in its property sheet. The property sheet can be displayed by editing the Folder Style/Folder Layout.
You can also get the image's physical URL by right-clicking on the image and viewing its properties (in IE).

Jerry

Photoshop is not a format.  It's an application.
What you are looking at are not true JPEGs, just iPhoto's "tease" representations of the hidden images it swallowed, as explained above.

  • How can I update Camera raw for Photoshop CS5 to access images from Canon Rebel T4i?

How can I update Camera Raw for Photoshop CS5 to access images from Canon Rebel T4i? The updated version of Camera Raw 7 says it only works with CS6. Outside of buying a new Photoshop, is there anything I can do?

Buy Lightroom (much cheaper alternative to Photoshop) - does all your 'Photo-related' tasks. Full version of LightRoom 4 is $149/- - http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom.html
LightRoom 4 supports ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) 7. Once processed with Lightroom, if you still need, you could take the photo in JPG or TIFF format into Photoshop CS5 for further processing.
Another option is to use Canon Raw Codec that would've come with your camera's box to process the RAW images and then take them into Photoshop.

  • Retrieving Invoice images from Content Server

    Background
My problem is, that I need to retrieve images from the Content Server and save them on a local drive with a path provided by the user. Metadata that is available for the image includes Object ID and the URL to the image on the server.
However, the Object ID is not valid for DMS, so the Function Groups for this are invalid. The cl_gui_* function groups have several usable Function Modules, but the URL link provided for the image is something like this:
    http://xxxxxx.xxxxxx.com:XXXX/ContentServer/ContentServer.dll?get&pVersion=0046&contRep=Z2&docId=123AB1C123D12E12345.... etc.
What makes the cl_gui FM unable to work, is the :, ?, % and & characters in the string - which makes the FMs look at the URL as invalid.
I have also tried more or less the entire content of FM in the SCMS_* Function Group (containing FMs for the Content Server), but to no avail.
    Question
So, now to my question: Is there any way to translate the URL provided so the cl_gui FMs can understand it? Or, should I go the other way around and fetch the Invoice Image using the provided Object ID?
All needed at my program to finish off, is a method to retrieve the given images and save them to a local path.
I hope the Guru's of the SDN will be able to help me here

Also, there is no luck with displaying text content from a file, using printDoc
tag. Can some one point me to right resource.

    Hi panji,
I used 7.0 tag lib, just to make use of "printDoc" tag which is available in 7.0version
only and not in 810. However, i figured out a way to display image using 8.1 (
    of course, by using request.getContextPath() + "/ShowBinary" + imagedoc.getPath())
But still, i do not find a way to display a doc type file in jsp, which is my
    original problem.
As per the edocs at http://edocs.bea.com/workshop/docs81/doc/en/core/index.html,
    <cm:getProperty node="<%=doc_node%>" name="file"/>
should be able to display a txt file but nothing is getting rendred onto jsp.
( i have created a book type content in the repo. and file attached is of type
    txt ).
Can you pls give some clue what i am missing here?
    thanks

  • Placing Images on Content Areas in Text

    Hello;
I'd like to customize the position of an image on my content area.
Adding text- and image-items is no problem, but I can't customize the position of the image so that it is diplayed e.g. on the right-hand side of the text.
Adding a text-item and specifying an image at secondary item attributes is also no problem, but when choosing the display option "Item Displayed Directly In Folder Area", the text is displayed but NOT the image...
    Any suggestions?
Thank you for reply (please also to my email: [email protected]),

    Hello,
Did you try changing the publish quality? Because of the fact that CP when converting to SWF will still be doing some compression, I really would give that first of all a try.
PNG allows even partial transparency, and certainly its 24-bit version. That is one of the reasons that it is superior to JPEG (no transparency) and GIF (only 100% transparency).  But I'm not really used to Fireworks, always using Photoshop for graphical assets.

We have two content Areas ( CA1 , CA2)and a folder(CA1-F1,CA2-F1) in each, which are published as Portlets.

  • Accessing images from shared components

I am having problem finding out images from shared components. After loading my images from my desktop to shared components folder, when i try to create an image item, and click the browse button, it pulls out my hard drive for selection. i don't know how to get the images already in shared components. i read in the help file that if i know the name of the image, then i can write it down and portal will pull it out. but what if i don't remember. do i have to go to shared components to find what it is and then come back and write it in the textbox?how to get to shared components clicking browse and selecting the image we want which is already stored in portal?
    thanks
    valli

There's no way to browse and select the images in shared components. You need to know the URL to the image if you want to reference it in an item.

Could not complete your request because a JPEG marker segment length is too short (the file may be truncated or incomplete).

  • Images from KM are not getting displayed in EP

    Hi All,
I am using EP7.0 SP11.When I run the portal, the images are not getting displayed. When I right click on the * mark and click on Show picture, then also its not appearing.
Location of the Images that I received from EP is mentioned below.
    http://hostname:port no./irj/go/km/docs/documents/HP_Images/Image_123.jpg
Images are available in the location in the below mentioned path as .jpg files:-
    http://hostname:port no./irj/go/km/documents/HP_Images/Image_123.jpg
Difference in both is a DOCS folder missing in between........
Is this is the reason for the image not getting displayed?
Anything more has to be done in KM part to display these images?
May I know how to solve this issue??
    Regards,
    Athulya

    Hi,
the right path look like this: /irj/go/km/docs/<path_to_document>.
You may have to check you URL generator service settings. Here:
Configuration - Content Management - Global Services - URL Generator Service(advanced section)
and then have a look for example for the following values "Content Access Path:" and "Viewer:" normally they both have same value "/irj/go/km/docs".
    Hope that will help.

  • How access images from iPhoto Library?

I appear to have done something terrible with one of my iPhoto libraries.
Over the holidays, as I recall, I had attempted to move the iPhoto library from the computer to an external hard drive.
This particular library, now on the external drive, shows 266 gigabytes in the finder, but I can't access any of the images.
So, something appears to be in the iPhoto library, but something may be missing that permits access.
If there's no hope of recovery of 2 years of images, should I just delete the library -- and lose all images forever?
Or, is there some hope or method of recovery?

Well it wouold really help if you told us that version of iPhoto you have - and exactly what you did? and exactly what is happening?  we know nothing at all about your or your system except what you tell us - which at this stage is only that you have a problem of some sort.
The only wild guess I can make at this time it for you to depress and hold the option key and launch iPhoto and select the library on the external drive.

  • Raw images from 1GX are rendering soft in Aperture - crystal clear on Lightroom

I have just upgraded to a Canon 1Gx MK II as my point & shoot.  RAW images are rendering terribly soft in Aperture - crystal clear in Lightroom.  Any ideas?

Have you in-camera settings applied, when you take your RAW photos? Aperture will ignore any of the in-camera settings when developing the RAW.
Have a look at Keith Barkley's User Tip. See this link:
The Big Three: Setting your camera for the best Aperture RAW results
Also, you may want to check the RAW Fine Tuning settings in the Adjustments panel. Perhaps these setting have been changed from the default values.

  • Rescuing and/or Accessing Images From Aperture Database Without Aperture

Early reviews of Aperture mentioned that Aperture created a closed, inaccessible database of all the images contained therein. This apparently means that these images cannot be accessed unless you have Aperture. Does anyone else feel nervous about this? What happens if the Aperture database is corrupted and won't open? As far as I can see, you would be toast because you couldn't reach your images. I would appreciate hearing from someone who can address these concerns. How stable is the Aperture database? Is there a chance it could be corrupted and refuse to open? And if so, how would you go about rebuilding it and/or rescuing your images? It also appears that the only way you can move images is by exporting them (which requires a working program).
    Any thoughts?

No problem! Trying to answer these questions is a very helpful way to learn the app by looking at aspects of it I have not encountered yet.
Yes, you can rebuild the Aperture database in a similar way to Entourage (and iPhoto). Holding down command-option after launching Aperture will make a Rebuild Library dialog appear. HOWEVER, don't do this unless you really want to see it work, because there seems to be no way to cancel the process. You can choose Rebuild Now or Don't Rebuild. If you choose Don't Rebuild, your Projects will nonetheless need to be recovered before use. The dialog mentions a Rebuild Later button, but there is no such button available.
I have done this a few times both ways in the course of writing this, and there does not seem to be any negatives to rebuilding other than the time rebuilding takes, so if your projects aren't large it may be worth doing now to get comfortable with the process.
