  • Accessing the global Address List using Java Outlook Connector

    Hi All,
I have written a code to access the Global Address List using (Jar) in Java outlook Connector
However i am able to retriev the name and email address of that employee only.
I want the other details like location(particularly).
    Please help out.
    Thanks,
    Arijit.

The scenario is i am an employee and i want to get information regarding other employees(name, location) which are stored in outlook through my java application(using JOC).Just a point of clarification, there is no actual java code in the Sun Outlook Connector. The use of Java with most of our products names is for marketing/branding purposes only.
Now there are employees who are not stored in my address book or local contacts. For them when i try to read the GAL i can get only their name and email address. So the 'cn:' (name) and 'mail:' (email address) attributes are being provided by the directory for a GAL search.
however if i try displaying their details using the JOC it comes with proper information through the outlook pop up but cannot read this data.As I said in my previous response, the data that the Sun Outlook Connector provides in the GAL view is determined by the user that the GAL binds to the directory server as, plus the restrictions that user has on the information the directory server will provide for GAL searches/queries.
This bind user is usually different from the 'super-user' bind user that UWC/Communications Express uses which is why you may see more information in UWC/CE compared to in the GAL in Outlook.
Therefore you need to work with the Directory Server administrator to increase the information that the Sun Outlook Connector user is able to see.

  • Unable to access emails and address book using Firefox 5, but not using explorer

Since installing the latest updated version of Firefox, I can log into my Tiscali email account, but once there I cannot open my emails. Instead of saying 'You have (number) new emails' it says 'You have unspecified new emails'. If I click on Inbox or 'Check new mail', nothing happens at all. Also, if I try to access my address book either to read or edit it again nothing happens.
Emails works perfectly well using Windows Explorer, which would suggest that the problem does not lie with my ISP (Talktalk) or my Tiscali email account.

You can install both your accounts in Thunderbird and then simply move messages from one to the other. You then have the choice to continue using Thunderbird, or to switch using Gmail via its own website.
Address Books are a bit harder to transfer. I'd suggest you go to the msn account, in your browser, and seek options to download or export your address book there. I expect it will offer CSV as an option, and vcard format is a possibilty. Both of these can be imported into Thunderbird and into Gmail.

  • Domino Address book from Java Mail API

    Hi
How do we access the address book of a mail server (typically a Domino mail server in my case) using Java Mail API.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    RajT

Havent done this myself but I dont think the JavaMail api will do this as its focussed on providing mail functionality rather than directory access.
I believe you can access the Domino address book using LDAP. Not sure of the details, or if you need to config the domino server a particular way. The Java api that will help you do this is JNDI, though if your application is domino specific you may actually find it easier to avoid the LDAP approach and see what functioanlity the Notes java api provides in this area.

  • The Microsoft Exchange Address Book was unable to log on to Exchange

I am currently migrating a exchange 2007 to exchange 2013.
Exchange 2013 is installed on a seperate Windows Server 2012 server.
Exhange 2007 is installed on a  seperate Windows Server 2003 R2 server.
I have moved some mailboxes from exchange 2007 to exchange 2013 and also created some new mailboxes on the exchange 2013 server itself.
OWA, ActiveSync , IMAP are all working correctly for those mailboxes , but I am not able to connect to outlook with the exchange option (local connection).
    Outlook 2013:
When I use autodiscover to connect to the exchange server step 1 & 2 are working correctly (establishing network connection & searching for mailbox settings) but on the 3th step (logging on to the mail server) I receive the following error
The name cannot be resolved. The Microsoft Exchange Address Book was unable to log on to Exchange. Contact you system administrator if the problem persists.
When I filll in the exchange server manually (using the normal servername server.hq.corp.domain.local not the guid version) the check name resolves correctly and the profile creation is finishing ok. But when I try to open outlook with that profile it gives
    me the following errors :
    with cached exchange mode selected:
Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook windows. The set of folders cannot be opened.
You must connect to Microsoft Exchange with the current profile before you can synchronize your folders with your Outlook data file (.ost)
    with cached exchange mode deselected:
Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook windows. The set of folders cannot be opened.
Microsoft Exchange is not available. Either there are network problems or the Exchange server is down for maintenance
When I use the Microsoft Connectivity Analyzer it fails on the following step:
Testing the address book "Check Name" operation for user [email protected] against server [email protected]
An error occured while attempting to resolve the name. Elapsed Milliseconds: 91 Additional Details: The address book bind operation failed with status -2147221231. NSPI Status 2147746065

    Hi,
Please run the following command in Exchange server to get Exchange GUID:
    Get-Mailbox UserA | FL Identity,ExchangeGuid
Then open Outlook, click File > Account Settings > Account Settings > Change (If you can’t open Outlook, go to Control Pane > Mail to change it). In Server Settings, import the [email protected] into the Server box and click Check Name
    to have a try.
If the name is checked successfully but also can’t open the profile, please close Outlook. In the Start menu, Run command (Windows key + R), type or paste
outlook.exe /resetnavpane  (Note: Make sure there is a space between the words.)
Then press Enter (or OK button) to restart Outlook

  • Shared user contacts in Outlook Address book

    Hello,
I have an issue that a user who is an administrative assistant wants her bosses shared contacts (which she helps manage) to show up in her personal Outlook Address Book, so that she can send people contacts by just clicking the TO: button.  This is has proved deceptivly difficult.  Any thoughts?
Oh, this is an Exchange 2007 SP1 server, and both of the client pcs are Outlook 2007.
If we can get that up and running, she would also like to be able to export his contacts from her terminal in the CSV format.
    Thanks,
    Nathan

Has anyone had any luck with Will Shepherd's/James-Luo's method or something similar for use with Microsoft's Office 365 Exchange 2010 system?
I followed the steps and, indeed, on my Admin/User A's OL2010, the address book did list the shared contacts.  But as soon as I  selected it, it gave the error:
"The address list cannot be displayed.  The contact folder associated with this address list could not be opened;  It may have been moved or deleted, or you do not have permissions.  For information on how to remove this folder from the
Outlook Address Book, see Microsoft Outlook Help."
The shared contact folder then dissappeared from the list.
I didn't really understand Will's step 2 which James does not include.  I don't know what "Full" mailbox rights meant.  The permission levels shown are Owner, Publishing Editor, Author, Nonediting Author, Reviewer, Contributor, and none.
Setting it to Owner did not work, as in the profile, I could not change the email address back from Boss/User B to Admin/User A.  I chose Publishing editor and added a check mark for Folder Contact.
I tried these methods on numerous new OL profiles and got the same results whether the shared contacts where the the first set or a secondary set and whether or not I sent invitiations for sharing  from Boss/User A, which sets the permissions.
What good are shared contacts, Microsoft, if you can't use them?  This seems like such a basic issue that, surely, I and others have a major misunderstanding about something.
If it matters, this client does not have Sharepoint and only has the Office 365 Plan 1 with its mailboxes.
I would greatly appreciate any hint on how to make the contacts sharable and USEABLE.  Otherwise this client will likely scrap Office 365 and I will reinstall Sync2 which worked fairly well.

  • Access the CE Address Book outside of CE

    Hello all,
I have searched high and low and have not been able to find anything outside of CE that is capable of accessing the CE AB. In my search, I came across the Sun Portal AB channel and the CE Sync but neither of these fits our needs. Ideally, we would like to be able to access the AB using Thunderbird.
If anyone has dealt with this requirement in the past and has some experiences/solutions/disasters to share, please do.
    Regards,
    Kamil.

In my search, I came across the Sun Portal AB channel and the CE Sync but neither of these fits our needs. Ideally, we would like to be able to access the AB using Thunderbird. There is no plugin for Thunderbird that I am aware of that can access the private CE/Convergence address-book interface. The future plan is to move towards a more standardised mechanism for address-book (contacts) access, namely CardDAV. This however is still some time off.

  • New users are not updated in Outlook address book (Offline)

    Hi All,
We are having an Exchange 2010 environment. from few weeks we are experiencing this issue. When we create new user or change the name of a existing user, it is not updated in outlook address book. Can anyone help me to sort this issue?.
    Regs,
    Sachitha.

What is the Outlook client you are using? Is it 2003 or 2007+
You are right, you don;t have to update the OAB manually, the kind of issue you are facing is very know (As far as I experienced). After you update the OAB manually, check the issue and it should be fine.
After that create a Test User and check in Outlook if you see it populated.

  • Exporting hotmail contacts to Address Book using numbers

Hi, I've been reading some other topics on how to export your contacts to address book. Though these were helpful, I do not have microsoft excel. Is it possible to get my hotmail contacts to my address book using numbers or do I need excel.

    Hello,
If you go into Entourage's preferences, you'll also find the option to "Synchronize" with Address book.
The option is under the Entourage menu
    Choose Preferences
Then, go to General, and choose Sync Services
The option you need should be the first option in the list on the Sync Services screen.
It should have a box to check located next to: "Synchronize Contacts with Address Book and .Mac".
    Give that a shot.
    I hope this helps.

  • Oracle views as MS Outlook address book

    Hi again.
During the developing of our Apex enterprise portal, I've compiled a complete set of views managing customers, employees and suppliers information, in an address book format, where you can click over an address, and automatically opening an outgoing e-mail.
After this, all is a MS Outlook and Internet provider issue, and this don't worry me.
But each user, separately manage MS Outlook address books, and obviously this is the opposite what a DBA want to see in his IT infrastructure.
At this point you can suppose we haven't any kind of e-mail server but a direct connection between the PC client and the ISP. It's right, but I would be happy creating an (easy) relation between the database and the mail client.
Somebody believe it could be easy to implement?
    Thanks a lot.

Sounds like want you want is an LDAP directory on top of your existing tables / views. You can point Outlook (or any other mail client such as Thunderbird) at an LDAP directory to use as their address book. Oracle Virtual Directory is a perfect fit here, since you can map your existing tables to LDAP structures. Oracle Internet Directory is another option, but it has it's own table structure and might be more trouble than it's worth.

  • Add or edit address book using Desktop Manager

Is there any way that I can add or edit my address book using the Desktop software? I would like to input email addresses and other information into my address book on my blackberry without having to type everything in on the blackberry. I was hoping there would be a way to do that on my PC and have it sync to my phone.

he following steps will help you to configure synchronization -
Connect your device using Desktop Manager and click on Synchronization
From the menu on the left click Synchronization under Configuration
Again click Synchronization button on the right which will give you option to Select Device Application that you want to synchronize
Put the check mark and you'll get a prompt to Select Desktop Application
Highlight the application name and click next button
Under Synchronization Option you get Direction of Synchronization
Check the radio button with Two way sync
Note: above mentioned steps are explained as per Desltop Manager 4.5
    Example: Synchronize addressbook -
Connect you HH with your desktop Manager in your PC. If you device is set to wireless sync then you need to turn off wireless synchronization. To do so go to Address Book -> click Menu -> Options -> Wireless Synchronization: No -> click Menu and Save the changes.
Click on the Synchronize button on Desktop Manager -> Click on Configuration Tab then click on Configure Synchronization -> Click on Choose under Address Book (on the right side of the pop up window) -> Click on you organizer apps (like, MS outlook, Lotus notes etc) -> Select desired apps -> select Synchronization radio button and click OK twice go back to Synchronize tab ->click on Synchronize Now.

  • Submitting InfoPath form via Outlook Address book.

    Hi there,
Is it possible to have an info path form used so that there is a submit button and the user is able to choose the email address of their choice to have the form sent? Right now I only see the option of configuring a data connection with a pre filled in email
    address.
Example. I create a form. A user opens it and needs to submit it to one person in our organization, possibly from the Outlook address book.
I see a people picker but that does not allow you to submit.
    Thank you.

    Hi SarahShay,
You can use a people picker to store the people that you want to email, then create a submit button configured to send the form by e-mial to the people of the people picker.
More information, please refer to the link:
