Say that you will use perl's DBI interface and DBD::Oracle, then
you will still need to install Oracle on your linux box for the
seek of compiling and installing DBD::Oracle on linux.
Once you have DBI and DBD::Oracle installed, you may access any
other oracle installations whethere local or remote.
I see this as the simplest way, but I may well be wrong.

    Hi,
That is not a problem just you can get in to linux inet browser and put the hostname.domainname.com:portnumber/OA_HTML/US/ICSINDEX.HTM
So that you can get the apps sign on screen will be launched up and available to access in to Oracle applications.
The work could be done in solaris browser and linux browser is possible.

  • Access oracle server installed on linux from client on winxp

    Hi
I am new to this forum and oracle on linux too. I am trying to install Oracle 10gr2 on fedora 8. If I installed oracle on fedora 8, can I log onto oracle from windows xp so that i can practice sql, if so how can I do that
    please help me.

    Hi,
Please download the Oracle Database 10g Client for Windows at http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/htdocs/10201winsoft.html
Then please install the client and configure it, after that, you can use sqlplus to connect the DB on Linux. See http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b15662/toc.htm for details.
Also, you can use ssh or telnet to connect to the linux from windows, and run the sqlplus command on the linux server directly.

  • Driver issue for Oracle Enterprise Linux

    Hi All,
I have just installed Oracle Enterprise Linux. I was not able to access network. After doing lspci -- i found that my ethernet conrtoller : Atheros Communications AR8151 Gigabit Ethernet.
Can any one tell how to install driver for this ?

    What is your output of:
    <pre>
    lsb_release -d
    uname -r
    </pre>
What kernel driver is in use or loaded regarding your Ethernet card when you check the output of lspci -v"?
Note that Oracle Linux just like any other Red Hat Enterprise Linux is not designed for typical consumer grade Laptops and Desktop systems.
Does your computer vendor provide any driver software for Enterprise Linux? You might be able to find 3rd party driver support using http://elrepo.org/tiki/tiki-index.php as a temporary yum software repository. Probably kmod-atl1 or similar.

  • Configure dial-up connection in Oracle Enterprise Linux Release 4-3.7.11

Hallo!I have just finished installing Oracle Enterprise Linux Release 4-3.7.11 so that I can set up Oracle 10g on this Linux platform.
But first I need to set up a few configurations e.g enable my OEL connect to the internet via a dial-up modem.
I have used my modem successfully on openSUSE 11.2 and Ubuntu 9.04 but I am unable to use it on OEL.
My ubuntu configurations are as follows
    Connection Name:ZAIN
    Number:*99#
    APN:ke.celtel.com
How do I set up dial-up in OEL using the settings above?
Also, simple commands to restart the OEL such as shutdown -r now are not being found when I type them in the terminal. How can this be so?
    Thanks.

Use wvdial to dial out using the modem, authenticate, and have it launch the pppd daemon for creating an IP connection via the modem.
If you want to configure manually, you will need to edit the files pap-secrets and chap-sercrets in +/etc/ppp+. Then you also need a unique config file for your connection defined in the +/etc/ppp/peers+ directory.
These files are fairly simple to edit. The secret files contains your ISP authentication details. The peers file the phone number and account name (from the secret files) to use. wvdialconf should configure this accordingly though.
There's lot of details available on the web - suggest you google.

  • Select DBase (.dbf) data from Oracle on Linux

How to select DBase (.dbf) data from Oracle on Linux ?
dbf files connected to Linux form NetWare server as 'ncpmount'.
Oracle has access as oracle 'Directory' object.

If you have an ODBC driver for it and are using Oracle 10g you can use Generic Connectivity. For more information on Generic Connectivity refer to the Chap 7 of the Heterogeneous Connectivity Administrator's Guide.

Sys admins say they have kernel panics and issues with current hardware and UEK. :( Yet another problem...What hardware are you using? The UEK that ships with 6.3 is based on a Linux 3.0.16 kernel so it should have much better hardware support than the original Red Hat kernel. Though, if you have ULN access, you should open an SR for this.

  • How to access oracle with any unix user (like root)?

I installed Oracle 10g on Redhat Enterprise Linux 3.
I created one oracle user, and installed oracle in oracle users home directory. In oracle user I can access oracle very well. But I can not use oracle with other unix users like root. What kind of permissions I need to set to do so?

You should never try to connect to Oracle as root, but if you want to connect as any other OS user, you will need to run ChangePerm.sh in $ORACLE_HOME/install in order to do this. It may not be present until you upgrade above the base release (like 10.2.0.3).

  • How to access Oracle Apps 11i forms using Vmware Player?

    Hi,
I have installed Oracle Apps 11i on native OS OEL5 Server and guest OS Windows XPP using Vmware Player. Now how to access Oracle Apps 11i forms from Windows XPP using Vmware on my OEL5 Server Desktop?
    Thank's

    Rerry

    Hi,
If you mean how to access eBusiness Suite from within the Virtual Machine, then you just navigate to the same URL you normally would. You may need to put the machine alias in your hosts file if you are referencing it via machine name rather than IP address.
If you mean that you want to load the form in forms builder (for example) then you need to FTP the form from server to client (as you normally would) and then open it in your client (XP virtual machine).
If you want to use Workflow Builder (as per your original requirement) then you need to ensure that the TNSNAMES.ora file in the Workflow Builder home has an entry for your instance on Linux, and then you should be able to connect to the database directly.
