Accessing WLAN with N80 failed

Hi all,
I'm trying to let my N80 IE connect to my offices WLAN. While trying to connect I got a "WPA verification failed". Does anyone know the reason for this failure?
Abel
Background:
I have been playing around with the settings. I added a new 'Access Point' for my office, and set its 'WLAN security mode' to WPA/WPA2. Entering the 'WLAN Security sett.' I entered:
- WPA mode: EAP
- EAP plug-in settings: EAP-PEAP (deselected what was already there, and moved EAP-PEAP to the top)
- TKIP encryption: not allowed (we do not use a temporal key)
EAP-PEAP is configured as:
- User certificate: not defined
- CA certicicate: not defined (our certificate is not in the list, we use a private one)
- User name in use: from certificate
- User name: my user name as used on the office domain
- Realm in use: user configured
- Realm: the domain as used in the office
- Allow PEAPv0 .. v1: all yes
EAP-MSCAPv2 is configured as:
- User name: my user name as used on the office domain
- Prompt password: yes
- Password: the password used to log in into the office domain
A colleague checked the log file when I tried to log in, and no entry existed for a mobile trying to access the wlan.

WPA and EAP works great with the N80 - dont worry
I have tested and runs alot og Nokia Phones with WiFi and EAP etc.
I currently uses a N80 fw 4.0707.0.7, and there are a v5 fw also.
I sugguest you get the 4.07
You subject informs about WPA but you have set your Security mode: 802.1x
Change this to:
Security mode: WPA/WPA2
Then you should be good.
Also verify the status: hidden/public this is important
If you can see the SSID in the WLAN Wiz then its public SSID.
Try clearing the username in the certificate setup/PEAP
also try different comination of DOMAIN/USERNAME, DOMAIN\USERNAME, DOMAIN@USERNAME etc
But I would think that you do not need username in the GENERAL page under EAP-PEAP
You need username under EAP page/EAP-MSCHAPv2
I assume you have the certificate installed on the handset.

  • Trying to access WLAN with no phone connectivity ...

    Hi,
    I have a c3 which I use to access the internet with WLAN.  No problem in the house as the signal from my WIFI is good, however when I enter a room with no phone connectivity (no network coverage) I can't connect via WLAN. The message "Packet Data not allowed" comes up.
    I just don't understand, why does it need phone connectivity to use WLAN. I thought the whole point on WLAN was to access via an alternative source,  Can anyone help?
    Thanks
    Hattie

    If you're outside the WLAN area, the device wants to make a Packet-data (gprs) connection. Ask your provider for the right settings.

  • N80 "WLAN: WPA authentication failed"

    I have a N80 at 4.0623.0.41 (26/07/2006, RM-92, Nokia N80 63.01) branded (TIM-Italy). No further firmware upgrades are available (on 12-09-2007)
    I would like to connect to my 802.1x academic network that uses certificate
    I installed the certificate set up its reliability.
    Then, I followed the indications found in this forum for EAP-PEAP setting up
    Data Bearer: Wlan
    Network status: Public
    Network Mode: Infrastructure
    Security mode: 802.1x
    Security Settings:
    WPA/WPA2: EAP
    EAP Plug In Settings:
    1. EAP-PEAP
    (other options disabled)
    EAP-PEAP:
    Personal Certificate: Not Defined
    Authority Certificate: IC root CA
    Username in use: User Defined
    Username: *****
    Realm in use: From certificate
    Realm: [blank]
    Allow PEAPv0: Yes
    Allow PEAPv1: NO
    Allow PEAPv2: NO
    EAPs:
    1:EAP-MSCHAPv2
    EAP-MSCHAPv2:
    Username: [entered correctly]
    Prompt password: Yes
    Password: [Entered correctly]
    When I try to connect with these settings I get the following error message:
    " WLAN: WPA authentication failed "
    I tried also other unsuccessful variations such
    Allow PEAPv0: Yes
    Allow PEAPv1: YES
    Allow PEAPv2: YES)
    The system admistrators suggested that the problem could be the certificate that is home-made and maybe it is not completely recognized by Symbian v9.1. But they don’t know how to fix the problem
    Indeed I found two certificates from my institution (Root and Server), apparently identical, but the Root one is recognized while the other no.
    Do you know what I should check inside the certificate to gain insights about the reasons of the authentication failure?
    Is there any symbian network utility that could help to understand which step block the authentication?
    I will appreciate any suggestion
    Thank you in advance

  • Fail to access CRX with JcrUtils.getRepository

    I just started with CQ5/CRX/JCR, so I beg your pardon if asking silly questions.
    I'm running a CQ5 Standalone Server (CQ_5_5_Quickstart.jar) on my Windows 7 and am fine with accessing it with my browser and the URL "http://localhost:4502".
    Now I try to access it via a Java-client using the JcrUtils.getRepository-method, as described in http://dev.day.com/docs/en/crx/current/developing/accessing_the_crx.html.
    But this fails with message:
    javax.jcr.RepositoryException: Unable to access a repository with the following settings:
        org.apache.jackrabbit.repository.uri: http://localhost:4502/crx/server
    The following RepositoryFactory classes were consulted:
        org.apache.jackrabbit.commons.JndiRepositoryFactory: declined
    Perhaps the repository you are trying to access is not available at the moment.

    at AccessJCR.connectJcrUtils2(AccessJCR.java:32)
    at AccessJCR.main(AccessJCR.java:16)
    I'm not sure about the used URL; I just took it from cited webpage. There is said: "The default server's endpoint URL is http://host:port/crx/server. Make sure you adapt the client-side connection URL in case of customized server installation.".
    I didn't customize anything so this should be ok. I will attach the complete Code, hopefully you can give some hints.
    Regards,
    Ulrich
    [code]
    import java.util.*;
    import javax.jcr.*;
    public class AccessJCR {
          public AccessJCR() {}
          public static void main(String[] args) {
               AccessJCR ajcr = new AccessJCR();
               try {
                    ajcr.connect();
               catch (Exception ce) {
                    ce.printStackTrace();
          private void connect() throws Exception {
               //Create a connection to the Day CQ repository running on local host
               Repository repository = org.apache.jackrabbit.commons.JcrUtils.getRepository("http://localhost:4502/crx/server");
    [/code]

    Got it to run at last. Had to add a lot of jar files to the classpath of my client. Up to now the classpath is longer than my program. I will attach the complete list here. I'm still wondering whether there is a complete package or at least a description to setup for JcrUtils. I think I simply didn't find one.
    But anyway thank you very much for the hint. It helped a lot.

  • No auto-connect to WLAN with hidden SSID

    I work in Infrastructure Services at the IBM Zurich Research Laboratory.
    Across IBM, there is a standard setup for wireless LAN access. There’s a public WLAN that provides access only to the internet; and there’s a private WLAN that provides access to both the internet and the corporate intranet. The private WLAN requires authentication via WPA/WPA2 Enterprise using LEAP or a certificate, and has a hidden SSID.
    Both WLANs are served by the same access points.
    The iPhone and iPod Touch do not automatically reconnect to the private WLAN with the hidden SSID.
    Each time the iPhone wakes from sleep, the user must connect manually to the private WLAN. The user must go into Settings and then Wi-Fi, wait for the private WLAN to appear in the list (there’s always a delay) and then tap on it. Also, if one opens Mail or Safari application before connecting manually, the the blue pop-up list of available networks will not include the private WLAN with the hidden SSID.
    This is a major inconvenience, because it adds half a minute or more to each operation that requires network access. Checking one’s email—something that should normally take no more than ten seconds—instead takes a minute or more, depending on how quickly one manages to connect.
    This bug also results in needless expense, because network operations that should go over the local WLAN often go instead over the mobile phone network.
    The inability of the iPhone/iPod Touch to reconnect automatically to networks with hidden SSID has been a problem since the original iPhone came out.
    This problem is an obstacle preventing wider adoption of the iPhone within IBM.

    Anyone have an update on this ?
    I have a new 3GS with 3.1.2 and have the same issue. I haven't tried the factory reset yet, but from this link;
    http://l00pback.wordpress.com/2009/10/14/iphone-3-1-bug-no-auto-reconnect-to-hid den-ssid-wireless-networks/
    “Work around”: Not really a workaround, but a sightly less frustrating way of reconnecting… when in range of the network… recreate the network by entering the SSID and leave out any of the security stuff then click Join. The join will fail (for obvious reasons), but will then “remind” the phone that that network exists and will then connect using the previously configured settings."
    takes some of the pain away.

  • "24427 Access to Active Directory failed" error in ACS 5.1

    Hello,
    I'm working on implementing a RADIUS authentication for wireless access with the following :
    - PCs running Windows 7, protocol used is PEAP (without validating the server certificate to make it simple at first),
    - AP 1252  configured to use a RADIUS server to authenticate (it's working good with an ACS server 4.2),
    - ACS Server 5.1.0.44.5 running as VM connected to an AD domain and working good with VPN connections,
    - AD domain running on Windows 2003 Server.
    My ACS VM is working good since a couple of months for VPN (RADIUS) and administration (TACACS) remote access, both using Active Directory. Now, I'd like to use it to authenticate people connecting to a 1252 Cisco access point but I'm getting this error "24427 Access to Active Directory failed". I switched from PEAP to LEAP but this is the same.
    All I can get running the expert troubleshoot
    Investigating failure code: 24427 Access to Active Directory failed
    Checking if Active Directory is configured
    Active Directory is configured
    Attempting connection to Active Directory
    Connection to Active Directory was successful.
    Troubleshooting completed.
    Click on Show Results Summary to view results.
    I followed this guide, at least for the ACS certificate section :
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps10315/products_configuration_example09186a0080b4cdb9.shtml
    Anyone has an idea where the problem may come from?
    Thanks in advance,
    Vincent

    hey there, I ran into the same issue with 5.3 and it turned out being this bug. i came across your post looking for instructions on retrieving the logs. thanks mate.
    link
    Problem: Error "24495 Active Directory servers are not available"
    Authentication starts failing with this error: 24495 Active Directory servers are not available. in the ACS 5.3 logs.
    Solution
    Check the ACSADAgent.log file through the CLI of the ACS 5.x for messages such as:Mar 11 00:06:06 xlpacs01 adclient[30401]: INFO base.bind.healing Lost connection to xxxxxxxx. Running in disconnected mode: unlatch. If you see the Running in disconnected mode: unlatch error message, this means the ACS 5.3 cannot maintain a stable connection with Active Directory. The workaround is to either switch to LDAP or downgrade the ACS to 5.2 version. Refer to Cisco bug ID CSCtx71254 (registered customers only) for more information.

  • Looking for an Access Point with 2 Ethernet ports

    Hi,
         I am looking for an AP with two ethernet ports. Is there any model of Cisco is available with 2 ethernet ports?
    Regards,
    Noman

    pros:
    If an access swich/switch port failed then AP still forward traffic through other switch once power restored through other port.
    when PoE failed on its connected switch, it may still work via other port.
    Having two ethernet port on AP may require to talk to different switches/stack to achieve AP port redundancy through lag or stateful switch over when cable/switch/AP port failure.
    if one physical port become bad on AP, it can be still used with other.
    (However, AP/physical port failure can be takencare at RF level using self healing.)
    cons:
    require additional switch and its config maintanece
    currently, AP doesn't require 2 physical port for data transfer perspective.
    Require x2 PoE ports.
    Additional port increases the cost on AP.
    it is possible cisco may make it in future.

  • Having trouble accessing internet with new wireless WRT54...

    Having trouble accessing internet with new wireless WRT54G. Used easylink to read existing router BEFSR41 which works great to westell modem provided by Verizon. When connect new router Easylink configures WRT54G but when trying to connect to internet...fails. All lites indicate good. Not using wireless device yet, just the wired ethernet. Router set up as DHCP.
    I keep going back to old router and works great every time. Help!

    Thanks for response, however I tried setting unit to 192.168.2.1 (leaving DHCP) to no avail. I put my old unit (BEFSR41) back in and I'm back up. I need to sit back and decide which way to go on this. Perhaps it's defective and I should return it.

  • Can not assign custom access level with a user login

    Hi,
    I am using Business objects XiR3. When I am loging in with a user having full control access and then I select a folder added a principal from user sercurity and when I am trying to add custom access level it gave me error
    An error occurred at the server during security batch commit: Request 0 of type 38 failed with server error : You do not have sufficient rights to make the requested security changes.
    it allow me to give access to standard access levels. also when I tried to assign custom access level with administrator user, it assigns custom access level to a principal without error.
    Can any body tell me what I am doing wrong?
    Thanks in advance,
    Rajendra

    Hi Rajendra,
    You have to make sure that the user group has the right 'Use access level for security assignment' assigned as granted on the access level you created. You can find this right under System / Access Level. That should do the trick!
    Hope this helps...

  • Unable to save Unified Messaging PIN: Access to Active Directory Failed

    I'm trying to enable all of our users for Unified Messaging and I've created a powershell script for each of users I want to enable but I am getting an error message everytime I try and run it.
    Unable to save Unified Messaging PIN for mailbox 'smtp address': Access to Active Directory Failed
    Our setup is forest root domain and 2 child domains.  Most of the users are in the child domains and the Exchange server is in the forest root domain.
    I'm using -domaincontroller but this doesn't make a difference.  Here is the script I am using:
    Enable-UMMailbox -Identity [email protected] -UMMailboxPolicy "DefaultUM Default Policy" -Extensions 303 -PIN 1234 -SIPResourceIdentifier "[email protected]" -PINExpired $false -domaincontroller "rc-curdc-01.curriculum.riddlesdown.local"
    Can someone point out why this isn't working?

    I had the same experience as Gueetar. Couldn't enable a UM mailbox, or change the PIN. Got a generic "Access to Active Directory Failed" message instead of anything useful. Even went so far as enabled a ton of diagnostic logging, which didn't report anything
    useful.
    Of course, all the accounts I was enabling had the HiddenFromAddressListsEnabled property set to $true (these were old deactivated accounts I was using to test with). I found that setting it back to $false corrected the issue.
    Of course I didn't know it was that exact problem at the time. I only found a difference after disabling/re-connecting mailboxes (and of course newly created mailboxes exhibited no issues). Assuming this was going to be the case for all mailboxes this would
    be fine for testing and proof of concept, bad for production/implementation. Instead I ran a bunch of scenarios over two days, culminating in a crap load of LDIFDEs and DSACL dumps to enumerate the object properties and compare the values that were different.
    This property (HideFromALEnabled) and a few others stood out. Luckily it wasn't ACL-related - that would've been a complete head wreck!
    Dear Microsoft: More descriptive errors next time, please :)

  • How to integrate a Laserprinter into a WLAN with multiple Aiport Stations?

    Hello,
    I set up a WLAN with multiple Airport Stations in my house like this:
    Time Capsule is the main station (placed in second floor) which creates the WLAN and is connected via Ethernet to the ADSL router of my internet connection provider. Works fine and stable.
    Secondly I placed an AirPort Extreme station in our first floor to extend the WLAN of the main station. Without that second station I had bad connection in first floor.
    Now I wanted to integrate my Laserprinter to that WLAN so that every device could use it. The problem is, that I cannot place the printer in the second floor where the main station (Time Capsule) is located. Therefore I placed the printer in the first floor next to the second station and connected them via ethernet. I gave the printer a unique IP (10.0.0.200) which will never be used by another device (I set DHCP IP range of Time Capsule from 10.0.1.2 to 10.0.1.200).
    But connection to the printer fails
    So, my question: is it possible to connect a ethernet laserprinter to that network via the second station or must it be always connected to the main station?

    i fixed the problem by my own. Topic can be closed

    If you're trying to connect to a Bonjour server on the remote network, that won't work over a layer 3 VPN. Use something like Hamachi or one of the SSH-tunnelling Bonjour proxy apps for that.
