Accidently Expired Accounts

Hi folks,
I just did my dumb thing for the week. In my DEV environment, I accidently expired some user accounts. Is there a syntax to unexpire accounts?

If you have a dba rights on this system, you can alter user with expired passwords like this
ALTER USER <expired_user> IDENTIFIED BY VALUES '<password_hash_from_dba_users>';This will set the new password to the same value as the old one and change the account_status from expired to open.

When you say "expired accounts", do you mean the accounts with expired password? If that is the case, you could use
userAccountControl Bit on equals 24 in exclusion filter.
If not, let me know what do you mean by "expired accounts".

Ok, so I am looking to create a script to query expired/expiring accounts and then send an email with the new found info. The email part I have done a couple times before, works like a charm. unlocking an account does not solve the expired password problem.
you could select the hashed password like:
SYS> select password from sys.user$ where name='TEST';
PASSWORD
7A0F2B316C212D67and try setting same password

J_security_check, JAAS, password expiration, account locking and portals

J2EE form-based authentication will redirect an unauthenticated user trying to connect to a secured resource to a login page and will 1) send the user to the originally requested page upon successful authentication OR 2) send the user to the error page in the event of authentication failure. There are a couple of problems that I have with this implementation - not with j_security_check specifically, but with the pattern generally.
There are several events that a Portal must manage beyond simple authentication validation. Specifically
- Notify a user after successful authentication that their account has been locked and they must contact someone to get it unlocked.
- Notify a user after successful authentication that their password is about to expire and offer them a choice between changing their password immediately or proceeding to the requested resource.
- Notify a user after successful authentication that their password has expired and require that they change it before proceeding to the requested resource.
- Notify a user after successful authentication that they don't have rights to access to the requested resource even though they've been successfully authenticated and offer to redirect them to a page that they are authorized to access.
I am currently investigating a scheme to solve these problems by using servlets for the login and error 'pages', having these servlets forward to different .JSP's based on roles, and writing some sort of JAAS module to add an access (authorization) role based on the password and account lock status.
Has anyone else worked on this kind of problem? Are there any efforts to extend the J2EE specifications to handle these alternate flows in the j_security_check activity.
I'm frustrated with each of the different container providers handling the JAAS Authorization differently. Further, since the j_security_check doesn't discuss how the server tracks the original request, each container provider has used a custom mechanism for keeping the original URI as j_security_check activity proceeds.
One final gripe, since the J2EE specification does not specify how to deal with JAAS, and further define a mechanism to getting the Subject associated with the current ServletRequest, all providers have done this differently too. Perhaps this was avoided as a 'non-goal', but wouldn't it have been nice to state that 'should a provider decide to offer JAAS based security, the implementation must...'?

I understand this problem... I dont know whether I have term this as a "Feature" or a "Drawback".
I have handled this problem differently in my project.
Scenario: When user does normal login
1. User is displayed a home page. During this process, I create a session variable "Initialized".
2. I check for this session variable in all the pages. If this session variable is missing then I redirect to the home page which in turn creates the "Initialize" variable in the session.
Scenarion: Session time out happens in Page 3
1. User will be taken to login page.
2. Typically scenarion, when user is authenticated successfully, Page 3 is displayed.
3. I check for the session variable "Initialize" in Page 3. This "Initialize" variable will not be available due to session expiry.
4. I redirect my page to "Home Page" which inturn creates session variable "Initialize".
5. This solution solved the problem of showing home page when user does the login

Pubkey with expired Accounts

Hello,
I mentioned that a SSH-Login with Pubkey-Auth doesn't work in Solaris with expired Passwords. It just askes for a password.
For example an SSH-Login with Pubkey doesn't work with....
grep userxy /etc/shadow
userxy1:$2a$04$mymegahash:0:0:90::::
But it works after setting a new password with....
grep userxy /etc/shadow
userxy1:$2a$04$mymegahash2:1582:0:90::::
So I tried to figure out how to deactivate this behaviour.
SSH uses PAM by default and pam_unix_cred.so.1 checks the account expiry. But even the PAM-Debug Log only contains a msg about an invalid Pubkey (that's not true). And as I said before, after setting the password it works.... (PAM Log: http://pastebin.com/Xe44nAqs)
My pam.conf isn't modified and this are my relevant lines from sshd_config:
PermitEmptyPasswords no
PasswordAuthentication yes
PAMAuthenticationViaKBDInt yes
Thats what I want to have:
- If there is a pubkey for the user: grant login (even with expired passwords)
- if there is no pubkey: do password-auth for not-expired password; dont allow login for expired user
I still tried so much different configurations that I am just confused now. Do you have any suggestions?

Accident email account delete- need help restore all contacts

Help, this morning I accidentially deleted my email account in yahoo, and now ALL my contacts are gone....how do I restore the contacts. I don't have mobile me set up yet.

Which supported application on your computer are you syncing contact info with?
With Vista, this can be with Outlook 2003 or 2007, or with the address book used by Windows Mail with Vista - which is the name change for Outlook Express with Vista. The address book is called Windows Contacts I believe and the sync option for contact info is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences.

Keeping email from expired account visible

Recently we eliminated a domain that we have had since 1997. We don't think it's a good idea to disable the email accounts associated with the domain in Apple Mail, because then thousands of past emails disappear from our Apple Mail mailboxes. Yet it's inefficient to keep the accounts fully enabled so that Mail tries to connect to them for new mail. Is there a way to keep emails from an old account visible, but stop Mail from trying to connect to the account? Apple, if you see this and there is no such way, wouldn't this be a worthwhile feature to add to future versions of Mail?

I have unchcecked "Enable This Account" and Mail still tries to check for mail everytime I open Mail for the first time each morning. And every now and then during the day it will randomly try to check mail on that account. (I have it set to check all acounts automatically every so many minutes.)
The mailbox is for a college email system, I've taken two courses at the college in the past, there is a possibility I'll take more in the future. i don't want to lose all the past emails.

Upgrade applications, with an expired account

I have an iPhone and I use the Apple Store. During the first year I used an iTunes Account to buy some applicationos, with an account that is disable, know. I had to create another one...
When there are upgrades to the applications that I bought with my first account, the apple store ask for password of the first account, that is no longer available.
I can't change the account. I can only insert the password.
When I insert the passowrd (from the respective account) it appears a message informing the the account is no longer available.
What can I do to upgrade that applications?
The others applications, brought with the new account are working fine, when is necessary to make an upgrade, beacuse the iPhone ask for the password's new account that is working fine.

Apps are DRM protected and tied to the account that was used to originally purchase them. They can only be updated or re-downloaded for free using the account that was used to originally purchase them. To fix this, contact iTunes support and request they transfer the apps in question to your current account. If they agree to do so(most likely they will), they will be added to your pending download queue:

Accidently deleted accounts in System Preferences :{

HT5624 I have an expired email account linked to icloud and don't know the password and can't reset the password due to not receiving emails anymore with the email account. Any ideas on how to retrieve the songs and data?

User account, loosing data on logout, expired??

We are having issues with our Mac video system. Mobile users are losing work upon logging out as theinformation is not syncing backup to the server. The user is the 'brierv' account. Errors in the log shown below.
They seem to indicate expired accounts, but the accounts can logon fine and I have no knowledge of us setting any expiry on user accounts.
Can anyone please shed somelight on this?

How are you restoring? You probably need to do a full restore, as per #14 on the [Time Machine FAQ|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1964018]. If that won't work, you may want to try repairing the Time Machine backup drive with Disk Utility.
Also, note that having only one backup is only slightly better than having no backups at all, especially if you don't periodically check the integrity of your backups. I always recommend having +at least+ two backups made with two different backup programs.

Expired, Disabled GL Accounts being pulled into Oracle Financial Analytics?

Guys, I am having trouble finding this information in the documentation and wanted to see if someone can share their feedback on this topic.
What is the current logic to pull data by account which are no longer being used?
Example: Account 100 used to be active from 2005 through 2007 and is not longer being used. How is DAC / OBAW loads determine if 100 account which is no longer active needs to be pulled?

Per docs, we update our COA related config files but what if there are accounts within the config files that are no longer valid or expired. How does the load handle those accounts?

Accounts showing as expired

I have 10 Adobe CC accounts. I renewed the accounts in February but I and all my users are getting pop up messages saying we have xx days remaining because of a billing issue. If I look in the Admin Console then it says everything is fine. I contacted the Adobe chat helpline. They told me that all our email addresses were assoiacted with expired accounts and new accounts at the same time. They said that they would take 24 hours to resolve, that was over 2 weeks ago. I've contacted them again a couple of times but they seem unable to solve the problem. When the counter reaches zero I have to uninstall and reinstall all the software - which is a pain.
can anyone help?
