I've just received an email which evidently a response by me requesting my metalink account name and password. NOTE: I did not request this information.
If this is not the correct place to report this abuse please let me know. I was unable to find any areas on the web pages to report this type of problem.

  • Brutally Bad Recovery Service

    Sadly, my first post is a long tale of woe. It would seem that the system has been hacked and my account abused and then suspended. I am an american living in China. I tried using skypes main page that directs to the local Chinese support, selecting english for the account recovery leads of a not so useful FAQ on Group Video Chat. There is no chat support because my account is suspended. I can't check the charges made because my account is suspended. I tried using a proxy to access the US system which was working well until it hit the account recovery first step as it needs java and my proxy does not support java.
    I emailed the support people in China in English and they replied in Chinese (machine translated)

    What more could you want.  Where this tale of woe will lead is unknown. In fact I am using my wife's account as I can not even access this community because (as I am sure you have guessed) my account is suspended.

    The China Customer Service took a step up and replied (in English, yea!) that they can't help (boo), but gave me a link to the Global Customer Serivce (yea!) but the link leads to a log-in that tells me my account is suspended (Boooooooo!).

    My Apple ID has been abused to buy apps from the app store. I'm not able to report the problem directly in iTunes and my fastlane ticket was closed. The support obviously thought I had a connection problem. What is the best and fastest way to solve this issue and get the money back?

    It seems like a legitimate question to me.
    As someone willing to test iChat with others I get lots of Text chats as most people are polite enough to ask before doing a Video chat.
    Like you I blocked the account and had no more problems.
    After awhile I was able to remove the name from the block list and have not been bothered again.
    Sending feedback was also a good idea.
    Info Like this is always useful to all that read it about what is going on "Out There" that we need to be cautious of.

    I was receiving technical support from the support phone number from a person in India.
    He began to ask me personal questions not related to the software and while he was asking these questions while working for Microsoft he was on another computer and website taking a paid survey for giving my personal information.
    I hung up the phone even though he attempted to call back.

    Ah yes school boy error there out of frustration and discontent..
    My issue is with music/apps/films etc not downloading from iTunes / App Store.
    They initially fail and message is displayed stating unable to download / purchase at this time, yet if I retry it says I've already purchased (?) or alternatively I go to the purchased section and there they are waiting with the cloud symbol..
    However some items get frozen in the download window and cannot be retried or deleted. Message appears stating to tap to retry, but even if you stole every bath and sink in the uk you'd still not have enough taps.
    I post here as the iTunes guys are useless in there 'help' and have only advised posting here or phoning apple, at my expense, to explain a problem that could be rectified by forwarding my original email to a techie. However the tech team apparently don't have an email address as they're from ye olde Middle Ages..!
    Anyways I digress.
    So I tried sync to pc, but instead of showing the file as ready to listen/use/view, the iCloud symbol shows and I'm back to square one as the item is unable to download..
    At frustration station waiting for a train from pain...
    All my software is up to date, and had all worked fine prior to the last big iOS update that resulted in all the changes in display and dismay.

  • Abuse of my skype account

    On tuesday 5ft februari my friend msg'd me on whatsapp asking me if I was online on skype as I had just attempted to send her a file which she accepted. When opened it was of a **bleep**. At that time I was at work and when I logged in on skype at home it did show I sended her a file but it also said that fire was non-excistant on my computer. My question is if there is a way to find out who sended that picture, if there is a way to trace where that picture was send from, maybe a possible IP adress?

    most likely it is a virus.  I think the first thing you can try is to update your security software, then run a full antivirus scan.

    The server is a Windows 2003 R2 Enterprise fully patched used for Shared Hosting purposes.  It runs Hsphere control panel.  I am trying to identify how the following hack is happening. 
    1) There are users being created with Administrative group rights.   Below is the EventViewer log for the user creation:

    That is all great info, but I am not sure I can put together what I have learned to attempt and get closer towards identifying how in the world users are being created and then being assigned administrative group rights.
    I am a Linux person mostly, but I am comfortable following a properly explained thread regarding windows 2003 R2 Enterprise issues.
    The server is fully patched and it is running Lumension security product.  What's more, Norman Malware tracker, tdskiller.exe (Kaspersky) and McAfee rootkitremover.exe have been run without any apparent Malware/Virus infection
    Hope someone with advanced admin skills can advise.

    In a Shared Server Hosting environment, the underlying hosting control panel tool (Hsphere in this case) should be creating only virtual FTP users with a specific group.  So no users with Administrative group should be ever created.  If this happens,
    it constitutes a breach of server security=positive hacking attempt.

    In addition, would you please be more specific about this question? Did you find the event message on a domain joined machine?
    I want to be able to understand in full how/what process is allowing users to be created with Admin rights.  In other words, I want to know what IP was used to issue the command, if ASP.net was used (abused in this case), or anything else related to
    it so that we can patch this particular hole.

    Sorry I haven't got back to you before now but I've had a few problems trying to make this reply.
    I was using firefox as my Explorer. When I tried to open your message the system kept looping between 'hotmail logon' and 'connecting' and didn't get anywhere. Also, when I clicked on the 'reply' radio button below your message, nothing happened. ......I've now gone back to using Explorer 8 to try to reply.
    to answer your questions:

    I've just reloaded Firefox Ver 9 and the problem still exists.
    Opening your link in firefox just loops and can't find a connection.
    Also, I can't make a reply.
    It seems that Firefox doesn't like Win Live Solution Centre or WLSC doesn't like Firefox.

    Since according to you, you did not change any information on your account information, therefore this is issue is not account related. Furthermore, since you did not change your ISP provider therefore this is not an internet connection issue.
    It appears that this is a browser issue since you don't have problems with IE8 and the preferred browser does not work well with Hotmail. I have some suggest: please try to deactivate the firewall and access Hotmail via Firefox. If this does not work, please try to open your Hotmail via Firefox using other computer.

    I've tried again with Mozilla Firefox and it failed to allow me to properly open your reply and went into a ' connecting loop' when I tried to send.
    IE8 works OK. This reply is with the Opera Browser. Let me know if you get this OK and I will advise Mozilla that their system is defective.

  • I've been locked out of my iTunes account and Apple support say they can't reset it!

    Apple seems to have a problem in which some accounts become locked and cannot be unlocked.  Don’t bother responding with comment s like which i pulled form this site while tracking down my login issues:

    This is my issue.  My account has worked without an issue since I created the account 1+ years ago.  Then for some reason i was prompted and i could not sign into my account.  I went to iForgot site
         Requested Email Verification to unlock account – I request email verification but the email does not arrive. I know my account emsil account works.  I receive email every day to the email account from friends, family and even Apple (download billing receipts, and other apple notifications).  I created another "test" apple id and received an email without  This option does not work either because the verification email is not sent (or never arrives)
         Next I went down the challenge question path.  I cannot get past the enter birthdate page as it is never considers my birth date as valid entry.  And yes, i know my birthdate but it is no longer accepted as a valid input.
    I had a chat session with Apple support and they are aware of this type of issue but there is no process in place to fix these accounts. According to Apple Support (the person i chatted with) there is concern about protecting users identity by giving other access to your account.  I personally question this response because i had account issue with other companies that mange personal date (e.g. my Bank) and the issue was resolved.  Apple cannot or will not fix this issue.  Without resolution i can not get to content i have purchased but have not downloaded and i can not purchases or upgrade exiting apps.
    Any ideas?

    Apple's primitive security scheme was very visibly embarrased by a media writer who saw two of his devices more or less wiped clean while he watched helplessly due to a social engineering crack. (not a hack, a crack)
    You and a number of others have been caught between Apple's shutting down identity repair system and whatever unspecified fix.  How long are you stuck?  Well, they have your money already, and you consumers tend to be okay with the abuse, so they aren't in any hurry.

  • How can I keep my child from UNBLOCKING contacts or numbers I have blocked? I know in restrictions when you disable account changes at least on ios 6,this greyed out the iMessage button so the kids couldn't deactivate their text feature.

    Here's the issue.  Kids got themselves into some trouble on iPods.  We set all restrictions any turned off iMessage etc, which I noticed they can't turn back on bc it's gray with the don't allow account changes set.  BUT, it still allows Wi-Fi to be turned on and off!  How can I disable them being able to turn that on wo asking me??  In ios 7, the blocking feature, fabulous, BUT, how can I keep the kids from UNBLOCKING numbers I have blocked?  What I am looking to do actually is allow my kids to be able to text family but block everyone else.  And ask me to turn on wi fi.  How and can this even be done?  Right now my d text is turned off completely.  And she knows the inside and out of her device so she can turn wi fi on herself.  On vacation she entered the wi fi code of our condo and so I did forget network, which didn't work and wi fi kept connecting anyway wo requiring password again!  HELP!  Thanks :)  Also, they have iPods now but am asking these questions based on them getting our 4s's with ios 7.

    TeresaBoo, I empathize with your dilemma and have a similar problem. I'm trying desperately to keep my teenage daughter away from a controlling and abusive boyfriend. Of course, she is in denial and thinks it's love. Sure, I can block text messages through our wireless provider, but iMessages run on an independent network. I can block a phone number from iMessaging on her phone, but she can unblock it just as easily. I wish there was some way for parents to create a password to protect settings. Don't let negative comments get you down. Honestly, if someone can't relate to your question or offer help, why are they even bothering to comment??

    I wrote a book using a pseudonym - how do I create a Paid Authors account when the FAQ says the name has to be a legal name that matches your identity?
    The Apple ID should be able to be my peusdonym info and then the details of how to be paid, i.e. SS#, etc, can be my legal info.

    As the publisher, you are obliged to provide your real information for legal reasons, such as taxation. However, there is no problem claiming that the author is "Joe Smith" when it is in fact you. I would get advise on doing this though, to be on the safe side. I don't believe there is any problem publishing with a fake author name, as long as you don't slander anyone or abuse the name of an existing auther, but I would find out before you publish your book, rather than after…

    I was not online on skype and attending one business meeting. My friend called me and said that I abused him on skype while I was not accessing that time. When I access my skype account. I found that he was true. Somebody has accessed and abused him. The same time I changed my password.     Report this incident to your local law enforcement agency.  The police have the resources to obtain the information you seek from Skype directly; Skype's Customer Service representatives do not have access to this information.

  • Suspended Account

    I am unable to access my Skype account because it has been suspended.
    I have not logged into skype directly with the default client in long time, but indirectly with IMO all the time. I was on a call not a week ago and everything was fine.
    Now that I have been suspended and can not remember exactly which date I signed up for the service, nor a list of names in my contact list (Account names? I usually rename my contacts)
    Now without access to my account, I am unable to reference my answers therefore creating a catch 22. I have some very important contacts including a budding love interest that I only have access to through Skype. This software was created to bring people together, not to tear them apart because something decided that my account was being hacked. I have tried to find a local chat log on my PC for Skype but have turned up nothing. There is nothing Customer Support can do for my situation apparently, but there has GOT to be another way to prove that my account is indeed my own account. Wouldn't you think they would ask you for birthdate and such? I've honestly had less trouble proving my identity to banks.
    Please if anyone can help, give suggestions... I'm heart broken
