Acrobat Pro X - W7 64-bit - can't access Help

Hello. I'm working with a brand new install of Acrobat Pro X on my Windows 7 64-bit machine. Acrobat is working fine as far as I can tell. Except that when I try to access "Help" I get the message that a required application library or file for the Help is missing" and to please reinstall the application. Should I? Should I uninstall first? Is there a less dramatic fix? Thanks much.

I use a hardware firewall and Windows Firewall (for whatever that's worth). Neither squawked at this installation. I checked the quarantine bin for defender and the only inhabitant isn't this. Likewise, my antivirus - which *does* squawk when threatened, didn't with the acrobat install. I did check the quarantine for my AV and there's no adobe entry. I also checked my anti-malware and, again, nothing. And I checked Windows Defender with, again, no results.
But wouldn't it be unusual for either firewall or AV to block only a portion of a software package? Thanks for the ideas.

  • I updated to yosemite os and was in the middle of a project with final cut pro 10.  Now it says final cut pro is incompatible.  How can I access my project and/or update final cut?

I updated to yosemite os and was in the middle of a project with final cut pro 10.  Now it says final cut pro is incompatible.  How can I access my project and/or update final cut?

There is this offer of a trial version FC Pro X with 30 day runtime:
    http://www.apple.com/final-cut-pro/trial/
Too bad you didn't have a complete backup that could run the previous OS X
and then you could resume using an earlier Final Cut Pro (10) or (7) since a
clone would have been a means toward that position.
    http://www.apple.com/support/finalcutpro/
    http://www.apple.com/support/pro-apps/
This appears to be another good reason to check out all the reasons why one
would want or need to upgrade a working OS X version, since these kinds of
events are known to happen as a direct result.
Sorry to not have an answer to this, other than try & use the Trial version...
Or see if someone at Apple sales/support can field your issue w/ an answer.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • I uninstalled the Acrobat Pro XI trial.  Unfortunately, I cannot access my paid up Acrobat 10 Standa

I uninstalled the Acrobat Pro XI trial.  Unfortunately, I cannot access my paid up Acrobat 10 Standard Edition

You installed Acrobat XI Pro Trial and you had Acrobat X Standard installed.
If Acrobat X Standard got removed then need to either reload it with your Acrobat X Standard DVD or contact Adobe to get access to the Standard download via your Adobe ID.

Thank you for your email.  My operating system is Windows XP and my default browser is google chrome.
When I click on help on Adobe Reader 11.0.07 and select "Adobe Reader XI Help".  I receive an error message:

Maybe you can make sense of this!

  • Acrobat Pro Extended 9.3.1 - Can't use "Send for Shared Review"

After the last update for Acrobat Pro Extended, I cannot send RoboHelp PDF generated documents for shared reivew. I used to be able to send draft reviews of the help (in PDF) using our public shared drive. The error indicates: "The filename you specified is not valid because it does not include a .pdf extension, contains one or more invalid characters or the path preceding it refers to a protected system location." I have not changed any of the items mentioned in the error and yet after the last software release update to the 9.3.1, the share review option is not working. Has anyone run into this issue and can help with pointers?

I am surprised the patch allowed you to update from AA9.0.0 to 9.3.1 directly. Almost all patches (updates) for Acrobat are incremental and they must be installed in sequence. I suspect this it true for AA9 also, but I could be wrong.
I suspect it was the jump that is causing the problem. I would suggest you reinstall AA9 (you may have to be careful about activating and deactivating so you do not lose your number of license installs). Once you are back to AA9.0.0, then either use the "Check for Updates" or download all of the updates and install them in order. You may have to reboot after some of the changes. It looks like you have 7 updates to go through. Folks have complained about the updates not being cummulative for years, don't expect things to change.

  • Acrobat Pro Extended v9.0, where can I find update v9.1?

I have Acrobat Pro Extended v9.0 and I am installing it on my new computer Windows 8 because my old one crashed.  I am looking for the update to go to Acrobat Pro Extended v9.1 so I can continue with the updates that follow.  Every time I look for the update v9.1 does not seem to exist.  I find the updates after v9.1 like v9.1.1 but I cannot install them unless I first install v9.1.  Can anyone help?  Thank you.

    Hi,
Please try to go to the ftp location mentioned below for the update.

  • I downloaded Acrobat Pro DC in my laptop, can I downloaded it in my Mac mini with the same purchase?

I can´t download my acrobat Pro DC in my mac mini that I just downloaded in my laptop.

I *believe* that if you purchased a subscription, you should be able to enable it on both platforms.
If you purchased a perpetual license (serial number), then this is platform-specific.
To make sure I suggest that you Contact Customer Care by chat or phone (phone support is only available Mon-Fri during daytime).

  • Acrobat Pro XI and 64 bit Win 8.1 installation problem

When I try to install Acrobat Pro XI on my 64 bit Win 8.1 system it's not able to find some files.
    For example:  Xtras\AdobePDF\Amd64Vista
If I skip that file, and the others, it says "Installation Failed". If I try to run it I get error 16.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Dean

I would run http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html and delete any Acrobat folders that have been created, then try again. Be sure to log in as the administrator and disable anti-virus when you have problems like this.

  • Can't access HELP in Photoshop CS5

When I click on Help in Photoshop CS5 (installed yesterday), I recieve a popup message from Adobe Community  Help saying "The requested page requires an Internet connection," and I cannot do anything with the Help screen.
I have an Internet connection.  In fact, if I open my Photoshop CS4 program, I can access the Community Help, it opens IE to the online help page for Photoshop CS4, where in the lower right-hand corner there is a yellow box with a link to CS5 help which if I click on it produces the Photoshop CS5 Help page.
So why can't I access HELP from CS5 Photoshop directly, and how do I tell CS5 that I have an Internet connection.
As a side note, this is also a problem with Illustrator CS5.

    The problem is solved.
I went and found the executable for Community Help.  It is Adobe Help.exe.  I then ran it and received the following message: To access or download help, connect to the Internet or deselect “Display Local Help Contents only” in Preferences.
Well, I could not find any such thing in Photoshop preferences. It then dawned on me that I should be looking in the preferences of Community Help.  And there it was—the option to display local content only.  However, it was set to no, so I should be seeing help from the Internet.
That is when the previous remark about the firewall came back to me, and I realized that what was needed was to open the firewall for Adobe Help.exe and not for Photoshop.
    Thanks for your assistance
