Acrobat XI returns a "Scan Cancelled" message

I've read an older post about Acrobat X doing it; I have a trial copy of AA XI and I can't scan with a Samsung SCX-4521 scanner; other programs make use of the scanner without any issue.
Any idea why and how can it be fixed?   I've installed the latest update and still does not work.
Thanks.

The answer is YES.
To summarize: operating System Win 7/64
Scanner: SAMSUNG SCX-4521F, current driver installed
Adobe Acrobat XI trial
TWAIN driver does not work, returns a "Scanning cancelled" message, every time
WIA driver works
TWAIN works with most other programs I have that have the ability to acquire images from a scanner
Use to work with Win 7/64 before I reinstalled and updated it.
I don't know more than that.
Thank you.

  • Acrobat X Scanning Cancelled Problem / WORKAROUND / BUG REPORT

    As you have read in other threads, Acrobat X on Windows has a serious scanning problem with HP and possibly other scanners.
    Whereas in Acrobat 9 scanning worked reasonably well, Acrobat X seems to be unable to cope with scanning documents from the flat bed of a multifunction scanner.
    So, if you are scanning from the feeder, scanning works, but if you are scanning from the flatbed, you will get a brief pause and the phrase SCANNING CANCELLED.
    This is, of course, not acceptable.
    The problem is that Acrobat X does not play nicely with the scanner drivers.  Previously, Acrobat 9 would "auto-detect" the source of a document, using the feeder if loaded, and "falling back" to the flatbed otherwise.  However, Acrobat X does not fall back.  If there is nothing loaded in the document feeder, the scan will be cancelled by Acrobat X.
    The workaround - and I would NOT call this a "solution" - is to use only the "Custom Scan" command from Acrobat X.  When the window pops up, choose the "Options" button and select "Native Mode" and "Show Scanner's Native Interface" from the two menus.  (Acrobat X does seem to remember these settings at least within a session, so if you're scanning multiple documents you only need to do this once.)  Then scan.
    You will see a new window pop up - the scanner's "native interface."  On my computer, this window shows up BEHIND the Acrobat X screen (annoyingly) so you have to watch for it and click forward.  Be sure to select "flat bed" from the "document source" menu.  On my computer, this setting is NOT remembered between scans, so you have to do this for EVERY SCAN.  Then, the document will scan, and you can do what you want with it in Acrobat X.
    Needless to say, this is a long, painful, slow process, especially if you're scanning lots of flatbed items, as I do.  Hence it's a "workaround" and NOT a "solution".
    The SOLUTION will be for Adobe to FIX this.  ADOBE:  THIS IS A BUG REPORT.  PLEASE LOG THIS IN AND FIX IT.  Acrobat 9 with CS5 worked perfectly, as did Acrobat 8 before it.  Moving to CS5.5 with Acrobat X broke this.  Sloppy.  Please fix!  Thank you!

    I used your workaround (thank you!) but it was very annoying. Although I set up the options for a single multi-page document, Adobe gave me separate files and I had to consolidate them. I also had to fill out the options (color, flatbed vs feeder) for each page. This function was working for me at some point, so I don't know what happened to make my HP Multifunction and Adobe part ways. I hope Adobe comes up with a successful patch for this problem.

  • Scan failed message kodak i40 acrobat 8.0

    Ive just purchased Acrobat 8.0. I was using acrobat 5.0 with a Kodak i40 scanner. Scanning directly into acrobat with 5.0 was no problem.
    Since uninstalling 5.0 and installeing 8.0 (and rebooting in between), acrobat gives me a scan failed error message, without any details or links.
    Kodak supplies a test scan validation program and that works fine, the scans are successful within that program.
    Ive downloaded the latest drivers for the scanner, both software and firmware and successfully installed. Ive done a repair reinstall of Acrobat 8.0. None of the steps has had an affect. Kodak tells me its an acrobat problem because the scanner is working fine with the validation tool that they supply.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks for the help.
    roxylee

    The Kodak i40 was QA'd for Acrobat 8 -- do you have all the latest updates? Have you tried the suggestions in the Troubleshooting scanner issues (Acrobat 8 on Windows) at:http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=325262&sliceId=2
    One suggestion you might try first is to create a new user account since you've successfully scanned into Acrobat before. Your user account may have since been corrupted, causing problems when you scan. Create a new user account with administrative privileges, and then log into Windows using the new account.

  • "Submit Canceled" message appearing after clicking e-mail buttons

    On the forms I've been creating, a "Submit Canceled" message window has been appearing for users whenever they click the e-mail button on the form, although the functionality of the e-mail button works fine and does what it is supposed to do (opens the e-mail window with the proper addresses, subject, and text, no problem).

  • Acrobat X won't scan

    Acrobat X worked fine on a Dell Dimension B110 connected to a Dell 946 printer.  I upgraded to a new Dell XPS running MS 7 and connected to the same Dell 946 printer.  The scan document function no longer works.  I reloaded the Acrobat X program, searched for updated driver, etc. all with no luck.  I hope someone can help.

    Hi, thanks for your reply.
    If I read it correctly, it is 10.0       The  full label on the box reads

    I have been through, and performed all the troubleshoot steps including

  • Acrobat XI doesn't scan with Brother DCP-9010CN

    Acrobat XI doesn't scan with Brother DCP-9010CN, writes "scan canceled". Everything is tuned as A4 format, etc. More then, Acrobat 9 Standard scans well with the same equipment. Win 7

    If you create a new user account on Windows, will it work in Acrobat XI?

  • Abode X "Scanning Canceled" error

    I am using Windows 7 (64 bit), my scanner is HP ScanJet 5590 with the latest drivers (64 bit).
    I upgraded to Adobe X last week, every time I try to scan using the WIA scan option a screen flashes too fast to read and then the "Scanning Canceled" error message (Adobe's spelling not mine) pops up.  I have found that if I use the TWAIN scan option that I can get it to work, I prefer the WIA as the B & W image handling is better and file size smaller.  TWAIN B & W is illegible and I am forced to use color.
    Why won't the WIA scan option work?
    It worked just fine in Adobe 9 with all of the same drivers and operating system.  Given that, it seems to be an Adobe X problem not an HP driver issue.
    I downloaded the HP scanner diagnostic and ran that, comes up clean.
    Any ideas?  I see that I am not the only one.

    Hello Lary
    Try this steps.. hope it will work
    1: Go to Create >> PDF from Scanner >> Custom Scan
    2: Select the scanner from Scanner dropdown button.
    3: Click on button "Options" next to scanner dropdown list.
    4: In the User interface, select Show Scanner's Native Interface.
    5: Now click on Scan button.
    You  will be shown the manufacturer's UI now wherein you can specify if you  want to preview the image and select the desired area for scan.
    or
    maybe Trick is in selecting flat bed or paper feeder. Last is default.
    In configuring pre-sets after selecting the scanner choose options.
    Make sure it is set to native modus and show scanner interface. Save this.
    Try adapted scan first, lets you choose between the flat bed or the paper feed.
    Brings you to scanner's interface and scans.
    Next time just select the scan function you want (not adapted).

  • Interface dialog - cancelling message

    If not already covered, I think it is an interface bug when cancelling a new message you:
    1) click "cancel"
    2) pop up says "cancel?" or "ok"
    where "cancel" in the pop-up instead returns you back to message, ie cancel has inconsistent meaning

    Hi,
    What 'interface' are you referring to? WebMail/UWC? What version are you currently running of messaging server/UWC?
    Shane.

  • USER Cancelled message while navigating report.

    One of our clients are facing a peculiar problem. We have a VB 6 application with crystal report 9 reports assocaited to it. When the user generates a report which has a large amount of data, and he tries to navigate to the next page, he gets and message "User Cancelled". If it is sent to printer directly, it says "Error printing".  This report has 3 small sub reports embeded into it.
    Request you to let us know, what could be casing this issue.
    Thanks in advance.

    It's possible that one of the items in your scenario has a time out limit. When it goes beyond that limit the error message defaults to a 'user canceled' message. This happens in Access all the time because the queries in there default to 60 seconds - your scenario seems to be a similar issue. Maybe look for something about a time out limit.

  • Cancel message is not shown in the page

    Hi All,
    This is my code for cancel in controller:
    if ( "Cancel".equals(pageContext.getParameter(EVENT_PARAM)) ) {
    am.invokeMethod("Cancel");
    MessageToken[] token = {};
    OAException confirmMessage =
    new OAException("MTH", "MTH_SETUP_CANCEL", token,
    OAException.INFORMATION, null);
    pageContext.putDialogMessage(confirmMessage);
    pageContext.setForwardURLToCurrentPage( null, false, OAWebBeanConstants.ADD_BREAD_CRUMB_NO, OAWebBeanConstants.IGNORE_MESSAGES);
    this is cancel code in AM
    public void Cancel() {
    getTransaction().rollback();
    but when I am clicking on cancel button ,message is not dispalyed.
    Is there something wrong in the code ?How can I get the cancel message in the page.

    PutDialog would redirect the page automatically. You dont need setForwardURLToCurrentPage().

  • When installing Maverick on my 17" Macbook pro I got the message that my HD is damaged and can't be repaired. I now can't restart without simply repeating the attempt to install Maverick and thereby returning to the same message. How do I abort install

    When installing Maverick on my 17" Macbook pro I got the message that my HD was damaged and couldn't be repaired. (not good news!!) I now can't restart without returning  to the Maverick setup and therefore returning to the same message. How do I abort the Maverick installation so that I can try to return to the previous OS so that I can try to recover/repair the HD

    I have the same problem with my 2008 MacBook. Repair disk from disk utility says it was successful but the installer thinks it's groundhog day after a reboot. I also tried fsck -fy after booting in to a command mode and it came back clean but again the installer gives the same error message. It seems like a bit is stuck somewhere indicating my HD is bad when it isn't.
    I had the latest version of Mountain Lion and have applied every upgrade up to then without issue.
    Anyone find a solution yet without having to erase the entire disk and staring over?
    Attached is a screen shot of the error.
