ACS upgrade to 5.5 Patch

Hi All,
According to Cisco there is a need to install  Patch: Pointed-PreUpgrade-CSCum04132-5-4-0-46-0a.tar.gpg before upgrading to 5.5. Our current system running 5.4 has the latest patch 5-5-0-46-1.tar.gpg already installed.
I am aware that the patches are cummulative and if we install the latest it covers all the below patches. but the readme did not specify the Bud ID
CSCum04132. Can please advice do I need to install patch  Pointed-PreUpgrade-CSCum04132-5-4-0-46-0a.tar.gpg before upgrade?

To reduce the ACS database size by removing unused disk space from within ACS database file use the database-compress command in the ACS Configuration mode. This command has the option to truncate ACS transaction history.
This command does not erase or modify any information during the database compression except for the transaction history if the truncate flag is used.
When you run this command, ACS is stopped and the process of compressing ACS database is executed and ACS starts automatically after the process is over.
The progress of the command execution is logged in the ADE.log file.
database-compress [truncate_log]

  • ACS upgrade from 4.0.x to 4.1.x "Appliance upgrade in progress"

    Hello friends,
We are in the process of upgrading ACS 4.0 to 4.1 in a SE appliance 1113.
We followed very carefuly the steps, and upgraded de Appliance management ACS 4.1. The second upgrade (Software for appliance 4.1) keeps showing "Appliance upgrade in progress..." (near 2 hours by now). I know that it can stick even finishing, but it seems it has not finished because we can not log in with the GUI Administrator account like we did when upgrading the management software (previous step).
Is this normal? what can be missing?, I attach the console text output below (IP adds obscured).
Note the management upgrade went fine.
    Thanks.

    Appliance upgrade in progress...

Thanks Jagdeep, but the upgrade has not finished.
The documentation mentions (please read it carefully):
"IF YOU COMPLETE THE UPGRADE and the ACS console displays the message Appliance upgrade in progress, this indicates that the upgrade PROGRESS is hanging.
If this condition occurs, start an ACS console session and enter the command download [hostAddress], where hostAddress can be any IP address. This action releases the ACS console from the upgrade process."
What worries me is that it has not finished.
As I said in my post, we can not log in :( (the GUI gets blocked during the upgrade).
I appreciate the help. Many Thanks.

  • Secondary ACS asking for license after Patching

I have just been patching out ACS 1121 on Ver 5.3 in preparation for upgrading to 5.5 however having successfully patched the secondary server I tried to promote this to the Primary and this seemed to fail with no error message.
A reboot of the Secondary now has it asking for it's license file using the PAK supplied with the product. Is this normal ? and can I recover this as I don't have the PAK supplied.
    Many thanks.

Thanks Ed but I have tried that a number of times with no luck.
I have managed to find the PAK codes but to add to the issue the reseller who did the original Install registered the license with their account. I have managed to get hold of them and they have given me access to the licenses but they tell me it will take up to 48 hours before I can see them in my companies Cisco account.
    Thanks,
    Neil.

  • Sunone console not opening after upgrade from DS5.2 patch 3 to patch 4

    Hello,
The Sunone Console is not opening when i upgrade from Directory server 5.2 patch 3 to patch4. I getting the following error message
"error 501 Cannot logon because of an Incorrect userid, incorrect password or directory problem"
can u please guide me. how can i solve this problem.
    Regards,
    Srini

So while this certainly isn't the most elegant of solutions, and most assuredly isn't in the realm of supported by Oracle...
I've used the DBMS_IJOB.DROP_USER_JOBS('username'); package to remove the 194558 orphaned job entries from the job$ table. Don't ask, I've no clue how they all got there; but I've prepared some evil looks to unleash upon certain developers tomorrow morning.
Not being able to reorganize the JOB$ table to free the now wasted ~67MB of space I've opted to create a new index on the JOB$ table to sidestep the full table scan.
CREATE INDEX SYS.JOB_F1_THIS_NEXT ON SYS.JOB$ (FIELD1, THIS_DATE, NEXT_DATE) TABLESPACE SYSTEM;The next option would be to try to find a way to grant the select privilege to the role without using the aforementioned "after CREATE on schema" trigger and dbms_job call. This method was adopted to cover situations in which a developer manually added a table directly to the database rather than using the provided scripts to recreate their test environment.
I assume that the following quote from the 11gR2 documentation is mistaken, and there is no such beast as "create or replace table" in 11g:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e10592/statements_9003.htm#i2061306
"Dropping a table invalidates dependent objects and removes object privileges on the table. If you want to re-create the table, then you must regrant object privileges on the table, re-create the indexes, integrity constraints, and triggers for the table, and respecify its storage parameters. Truncating and replacing have none of these effects. Therefore, removing rows with the TRUNCATE statement or replacing the table with a *CREATE OR REPLACE TABLE* statement can be more efficient than dropping and re-creating a table."

  • How to do in-place-upgrades with the new patch sets (11.2.0.2.0)?

    Hello,
Oracle has released the new patch set 11.2.0.2.0 for Oracle Database whose installation deviates from the previous patch set instructions. Are there any new deployment procedures available to do an in-place upgrade? We have a lot (about 100) of development databases here, most of them do not have enough hard disk space to do an out-of-place upgrade, so the need for updated deployment procedures is definetely there.
    Best regards,
    Andreas

    Hello Hemss,
I am trying to do an in-place-upgrade (replacing the old Oracle software completely because our test servers have only very little space). When you want to perform an out-of-place upgrade, things are more simple, but you need the disk space for a new Oracle home (about 6 GB on Linux-x64 in my case). Essentially, the steps are:
    1. You can keep the production database online during the next steps
    2. Install the new 11.2.0.2.0 into a new Oracle Home (an Oracle software directory which does not exist yet). Only install the software.
    3. Apply any post-11.2.0.2.0 patches if available and needed
    4. Schedule a maintenance window with your users
    5. Put the original database(s) in MOUNT mode (SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE followed by STARTUP MOUNT)
    6. Perform a FULL backup of both database and old Oracle home, just to be on the safe side.
    7. Set your enviromnent: ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_BASE should point to your NEW installation, ORACLE_SID to your production database.
    8. Start netca to create a new LISTENER for your new software installation (you might want to use a different port than your previous installation in case you need to run both at the same time)
    9. Start dbua from the new Oracle Home and follow the on-screen instructions. You can either create an updated copy of the database (needs more disk space but you can easily switch back to your orginal DB), or you change the database to fit your new Oracle version (needs less space, but you need to run the scripts to downgrade to the old release if you need to go back)
So, as long as you have plenty of disk space, things are not that difficult at all. Of course, you should always read the release notes and the full installation guides for the new version because there might be new features or behaviours that affect your database. It is also highly advisable to test this on a completely different machine first.
You can find the complete upgrade guide here: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e17222/toc.htm
    Best regards,
    Andreas

  • ACS Upgrade in live network ok?

I am about to upgrade our CiscoSecure  ACS from 4.1 to 4.2.  If I do so on a live network, can that affect anything within my network?
I would hate to bring down an entire network and upset about 3000 users.
    Thanks in advance!

That will prevent that particular ACS to authenticate new users for the time of the upgrade ...
Existing users won't be kicked out unless you configured a very frequent reauthentication timer.
If you have more than one ACS then the other should be there to take the job

  • ACS upgrade on windows

Create a TAC case and request Special File Access. If you are entitled they will post the files and send you an email with the URL where you can download the new software. Then simply follow the documented upgrade instructions.

  • ACS upgrade from 4.2.1.15 to ACS5.6

    HI
We have bought new ACS5.6 SNS3415 Boxes , earlier we have ACS4.2.1.15   , now we want to migrate the data from old ACS to new ACS.
We have downloaded the ACS and trying to install 4.2.1.15 but getting the error
" ACS4.2.115 can only be installed on top of base version"
So we have installed the eval-ACS-4.2.0.124-SW  successfully. And now we are trying to install the 4.2.1.15 but we are getting eth below error
" 4.2.1.5 can not be installed on EVAL version"
How can we resolve this so that we can migrate the data to ACS5.6 via migration utility.

    Refer the link : https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/11513026/migrating-acs-420-421

  • 11i-R12 upgrade: when to apply patch 8919489

I am performing an 11.5.10.2 -> R12.1.1 upgrade on Linux-x86 using the Maint Wizard (MW).
MOS ID 437878.1 says to apply patch 8919489 (R12.TXK.B.Delta.3) BEFORE applying the bundle forms patch 9593176 (and any missing patches) as part of the OAS 10.1.2.3 upgrade.
The MW has patch 8919489 being applied AFTER the OAS 10.1.2.3 upgrade patches (done in MOS 437878.1) and after the main 12.1.1 upgrade patch (u6678700.drv).
Does it matter when this patch is applied?
    Thanks

I suppose that I should clarify.
    - The MW says to follow MOS 437878.1 BEFORE starting the primary upgrade patch
    - MOS 437878.1 says to apply patch 8919489 as a pre-req patch
    - The MW says to apply patch 8919489 after the primary upgrade patch
So, is it to be applied along with the other 437878.1 patches or after the primary upgrade patch?
I don't know where MOS 437878.1 is referenced as part of the 11i-R12 upgrade outside of the MW.
    Thanks

  • ACS Upgrade 4.1

We are in process on migrating over to an ACS appliance 4.1. I have downloaded updates and have launched the autorun.bat file. After running the update to 4.1.3.12 CSAdmin fails to start. Tried starting it manually via serial port, but no luck. The previous version was 4.1.1.23
    any assistance would be appreciated

    Hi
Its nothing known that I know about on CSAdmin stopping after upgrading. I hope you have a database backup from ACS 4.1.1.23 version?
Try to give it a reboot.
And I hope you applied management Upgrade first and then software upgrade?
