Add Contact Information?

Is there any way to add contact information to an event so that when you open it you can link straight to mail to send an email?

It is compiled as an application. You can download it from http://www.nhoj.co.uk/blog/2010/06/olderscripts . Download the "Link to Address Book" script open the .dmg file and move the script to your Applications folder.
To use it, select a person in Address Book and double click Link to Address Book. It adds a link to that person's card that you can paste into iCal's URL field or the notes of the event.
Let me know if you need more instructions than that.

Trying to add Contact information through Oracle Data Loader

Hi,
I have checked Oracle On Demand guide PDF and can able to insert a valid account data on oracle on demand via client batch pgm. Can you tell me any valid Contact Map and contact*.csv file which can insert contact information on Oracle On Demand. If I get dealer , vehicle or any other that would also help. Where I can check the map details for all these record types. That is the biggest problem I am facing.

I am able to inser a basic contact on Oracle On demand through Data loader. But it is getting partially completed with errors. The first Name, Last Name is getting inserted, but columns like Title , Address those are not getting inserted. Can you give me why it is behaving wierdly. The Map I found to be okie.

Find my friends contact information

In Find My Friends I was presented with a button to add contact information. Unfortunately I selected the wrong contact. Now the name shown is incorrect but I see no way to edit or change it.

I have the same problem except that all my contact locations shows up in either Korean or Japanese. I think this started to happen after a business trip to Shanghai. Now friends see my location in a foregin language instead of English. I have no idea were to reset it.

Apple Mail: How do I add contacts to address book?

In the Apple Mail program, there is an option to add sender to address book. But when I do that, it just adds the sender to my address book, oftentimes without a name associated to the contact. So that contact could easily get lost.
I'd like to be able to add a sender from Apple Mail, then, at a later point, go to the address book and review who I've added, and edit their information.
Is there a way to add the sender to the address book, and have that contact added to a default folder within address book. That way I could later go back and review a bunch of contacts I've added at the same time. Thanks.

Adding an address to Address Book opens Address Book so that you can edit the card before saving it. Is that not happening for you, or is that happening but you want to ignore it until you're ready to go add other information?
If the latter, you could always create a smart group in Address Book with the criteria "Name" "is not set". Then just go in now and then and add names to everything in that group. Of course, the problem with this technique is you may have to go back and find that address in Mail and refresh your memory as to who it belongs to. It would probably be quicker, overall, to just add the name at the time you're adding the contact.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
1. The purpose of this test is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The "Guest User" login created by "Find My Mac" is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
2. Connect to a different network, such as a public Wi-Fi hotspot, and try again.

Bulk add Contacts to address book

I have a bunch of contact information in an excel file I would like to add these contact to my address book. I have tried to save the excel file as a csv and also a tab delimited file so I could import it, but address book would not read the files (they where grayed out during the import).

Unfortunately, there´s no way to do this in bulk

When I view emails on my Iphone, I can see the senders phone number. How can I ensure other recipients cannot view my contact information?

I have upgraded to the IOS 8.1 on my Iphone 4S. I recently noticed while I check my emails I can see read the senders phone number. There is even a prompt to add their contact information unto my phone. Is there a way in which I can block my contact information from others?

As simply as I can manage this is the idea behind phone numbers and emails in iMessage. All of this is example only. Apply it to your personal situation. iPhones have phone sevice, iPads do not. Both can use iMessage but how if the iPad has no phone number? Via email. So from your iPhone you want to send a message to your brother who has an iPad so you would send it to his email. Apple's server then takes the message and says "hey that dudes iPad is using this email for iMessage" and sends the message to the device. Your brother then sends a message back from his iPad to your phone number. Apples server then says "hey that dude is using this phone number on his iPhone we'll send it there, but wait that number is also being use for iMessage on that iMac (Messages OS X 10.8.2) lets send it there too". And you receive the message on both your iPhone and iMac. The benefit of setting an email to recieve iMessage on your iPhone is if you have an iPod touch or iPad (they recieve at email) that you want to recieve the messages along with the iPhone. With that your brother and his iPad would send a message to your email, instead of your phone number, and the iPod, iPad, iPhone, Mac or any other device you have that can use iMessage will recieve the message from your brother.

Please clarify if you are referring to Add a Contact in the Skype client software, or adding a Skype account to Skype Manager. I ask because many of the posts to this message board are not related to Skype Manager!

Changes to contact information in iMac / MacBook Address Book results in duplicate entries only on the iPhone / iPad

I have my iCloud account synced to an iMac, MacBook, iPhone 4, and iPad 2. Any changes I make to a contact on the MacBook and iMac result in 2 different contacts on my iPhone with the same name.
In other words, making changes in the address book on my iMac or MacBook, adds another contact on my iPhone / iPad with the new information and same name. As an example, if I have "John Doe" as contact on all of my devices, and I decide to make a change on my MacBook or iMac, I suddenly have 2 entries on my iPhone as John Doe. They are not exact duplicates. 1 of the John Doe entries has my original information, and the other John Doe has my new information. Deleting the "old" John Doe contact deletes all of the entries on all of my devices and I lose all of my contact information completely on all of the devices for John Doe.
Making changes to a contact on my MacBook and iMac only causes issues with my iPhone / iPad. The synchronization between my iMac and MacBook work just fine, and a new entry with the same name is not created. My MacBook and iMac do not show duplicates so the "Look for Duplicates" function in my address book doesn't solve the problem on my iPhone. The only solution so far that seems to work is to go into the iCloud Settings on my iPhone / iPad, temporarily turn off my Contacts, thereby effectively deleting them, and then turning the Contacts back on. I did change my Apple ID email address recently so I wonder if that plays a role or not. My new Apple ID has been changed on all of my devices.
Hope that makes sense and hope some people out there have some ideas.

If you are using Outlook 2011, make sure you have the latest service pack and update.
Make sure your Mac Book and all devices have the latest update.
If the Calendar on the Mac Book is correct go to step 3
Assuming Mac Book Calendar is correct, remove accounts from iPhone, iPad.
Reconnect account to iPhone, iPad account.
All calendars should now be in sync.
There are times when the Mail, Calendar, Contact application has been corrupted (Outlook 2011, Mac Mail, Entourage, etc). This will cause all kinda of issues on your devices. You have to repair the mail client first. In the case of Outlook you can delete the profile and recreate it. In Mac Mail you can rebuild (from Tools on the menu bar)

In my email auto fill it lists addresses I haven't used in 2 years as "recent others". What causes this, the contact information for these people was deleted some time ago.

Mail, Window Menu, Previous Recipients.
Select the ones you don't want and delete them.
If you want to add them to contacts, click that button.

I have searched the forum, the book and the web to find a way to remove the ADD contact button that appears on the main screen, but so far I have not found a way to do it, can someone please point me in the right direction, thanks.

On Windows, under Control Panel "Add or Remove Programs", when you click one of the installed files there sometimes is a line "Click here for support information." This has lines for:
Contact
Support Information
Comments
as well as Publisher and Version.

I strongly suspect the "Click here for support information" is an option with the microsoft installer or MSI. Although LabVIEW uses the MSI for its executables, this functionality is not exposed.
I have tried several times in the past to edit a MSI and it is nontrivial. There are software packages for sale that can help make this easier.
As a workaround, you might consider adding a dynamic VI to your application called About.vi . This way if you go help >> about , your VI will pop up with any information you want it to show.

Contacts app missing tab to add contacts

Hello, I am having a problem with the contacts app which came with the iPad 2. The tab which allows you to add contacts has disappeared, maybe a month ago. Has any one had the same problem and if so is there a fix for this issue. I appreciate any help, thanks Rob.

Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with linking your Yahoo! account with the Contacts app. I recommend checking the password in Preferences for Contacts. You can check this under Preferences > Accounts and then select your Yahoo! account.

Applescript to batch edit contact information

I am using Contacts to manage my addresses. Till not I was using the "Department" field and the "Notes" field to enter Notes to all my Contacts. However, my new Phone does not support syncronizing the "Department" field and I need that information on my phone.
Can someone help me with a script that will add the Information from the "Department" field to a separate line to the "Notes" field?

As stated in the comment, remove the "set department" line if you don't want to delete the department field, just move it.
Edit the group name as appropriate, or for all contacts, remove [of group "group name"]

Hi there!
I find it easiest to first add the person as a contact in my contact list and include their PIN. Then, in BBM, I can add the contact by simply clicking on screen (my Storm) the add contact button (BBKey > Add Contact also works) and then start typing their name...once it finds them in my contact list, I select them and the PIN is presented as one of the methods of adding them...I select it and voila...they are now a BBM contact as well.
