Add new Place to Time Zone tab in Sys Prefs

I have seen a couple of posts on other forums, plus a similar request, here on the iPhoto09 forum, but not had any success with this yet. I want to do this for the same reason as the OP on the iPhoto forum...so iPhoto Places defaults to an area local to myself
The procedure I have seen ( see links below) seems to refer to OS ver 10.2. I have tried it on my system (10.5.8) and I can't seem to get it to work.
Basically it involves editing
MacintoshHD/System/library/PreferencesPanes/DateandTime.prefpane
--- Show package Contents
Contents/Resources/TimeZone.prefPane
--- Show package Contents
Contents/Resources/allcitiesadj.plist
Contents/Resources/English.lproj/Localizable_Cities.strings.
Needed to change read /write permissions to edit the file(s), then changed them back after editing.
The original article in http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20020831074937191 refers to changing ownership of the files, from System to User and then back again. I cant see an option to change ownership, but could see red write attributes so I changed that to allow editing of the files. I do notice now that the two files, now show user as owner of the files not System. maybe this is why this procedue is not working
I added the new Place in allcitiesadj.plist

And added an entry to Localizable_Cities strings for Jersey:

Restarted the machine, but Jersey still does not appear in the Time Zone tab.
Anyone give me any pointers here?

Solved.
It was because editing the files in Text Edit changed the file ownership. Had to use Terminal and chown to revert ownership back to system.
Using TextMate would have done it without changing the file ownership.

We have installed the new build for GroupWise - build #100937.
When using Webaccess , under "Options" the "Time zone" tab is missing.
The "Time zone" tab was present before upgrading to build #100937.

Since running the pre SP1 code I've noticed that too. Curious what the plan is there... Probably WebAccess will follow the timezone set for the browser/system one is using?

Yeah, that's correct. The problem is if you use ANYTHING to do single sign on (formfill in NAM, or some other web technology), it doesn't pass the java codes correctly, so it actually strips off the timezone code, so you get times that are off by 4 hours.
But the bug is actually in WebAccess, not NAM.
I'm supposedly getting a build to test to see if it's resolved.

Try with these User Exits,

Use this user exit to assign values to new fields at sales document header level. It is described in the section "Transfer of the customer master fields into the sales document".
The user exit is called up at the end of the FORM routine VBAK_FUELLEN.

Use this user exit to assign values to new fields at sales document item level. It is described in the section "Copy customer master fields into the sales document".
The user exit is called up at the end of the FORM routine VBAP_FUELLEN.

Can we add new logical system in Entitlement tab in SAP Authentication.

We already Installed and configured sap integration kit and every thing works fine. My question is as of now we connected our sap BW Dev system to BOBJ but we would like to connect to BW Prod System to same BOBJ System. What are the steps we need to follow to do this.
Can we just add the new logical system in entitlement tab of sap authentication in BOBJ 3.1? and import the roles and login to BOBJ USING THE Newly added SYSTEM Credentials. Thanks in Advance.

If you're reffering to the documents status you can define custom ones at:
Transaction SPRO
button "SAP Reference IMG"
    Navigate through:
-SAP Solution Manager Implementation Guide
-SAP Solution Manager
    -Cross-Scenario Settings
      -Document Management
        -Status for Documents
options:
*Define Status Values for Documents
*Assign Status Values for Read Authorization
*Define Document Status Schemes
*Assign Status Scheme to Documentation Type
Please read these Steps and you'll be able to configure these status.

I NOT download mail on laptop (but leave it for dl to my desktop); how can I get the lapt to recog what it already in its inbox and not add new copies each time

I use a small Acer laptop on trips. I read email on it, but leave the mail on the server (POP acct at my university) for download at home onto my desktop. My problem is that the laptop does not recognize what it has already copied to my inbox, and so adds a new copy of all mail (that is on server) each time I "get" my mail. Is there some way that I can get it to only "get" what mail it does not already have ?

try disabling email scanning for incoming mail.
One of the last things that occurs is the mail server and Thunderbird sign off on "where we are up to" and Thunderbird stores this state information in the popstate.dat file in your profile (there is one in each POP mail account folder). If the anti virus, or you for that matter, end the conversation a few seconds early that hand off does not occur and the popstate is not stored.

Add new fields to additional data tab in customs declaration

My requirement is to add Z fields in the additional data tab in transaction /SAPSLL/CL_CUS_02 of GTS. I would also like to know If its possible to create a new tab all together in /SAPSLL/CL_CUS_02 where in we can add fields from a custom table.

Hi Koustubh,
As Dave pointed out, there is a BadI for extra tab on declaration Item and Header.
There is an example implementation already available in the System. I believe that 1 BadI will no be enough for what you need.
UI enhancement BadI uses standard CUHD and CUIT tables to store the extended data ( via table APPEND ), in order to save content to Z* table you will need a separate BaDI.
Also, If you intend to use this extra data in outbound message / declaration Idoc, extra BadI has to be used and also the basic IDoc type will need to be extended with your Z* segment. Thats probably 2-3 BadIs working in tandem.
Can you tell what is the purpose of the extra data / extra tab ?

I was changing the customer fields of transaction BP with transaction eewb.
I was working in a specific project (ZBUPA) as you can see in the following images. I don´t know what I've changed but now the icon of the enhancement of the project is like a red broken box (Errors occurred if you look for it at the legend), and the task has got a prohibit icon (Processed with Errors). Like this:

Is it possible to add new files to the aplication tab in Settings? How do I do this?

Well, I'm trying to download 7-zip file from Rapidshare and I use SkipScreen. But I can't really leave my computer, though I want, because Firefox doesn't support those files and I have to wait till SkipScreen make the file available, so I could just press one button (!!). Gosh, I'd like so much to add 7-zip files to Firefox aplication tab, so they downloaded automatically.

Hi Craig, if it isn't playing in the actual folder then something went wrong in your conversion. Exactly how did you do the conversion? And how did you get it out of iTunes (if that is what you used for the conversion) to use it as a sound effect?
I have a one second piano chord in mp3 stashed away in a sound collection folder. I double click it and it opens in iTunes. I then go to iTunes Preferences, click on Advanced, then click the Importing tab, and change "Import Using" to "AIFF Encoder" (my default is MP3 Encoder) and click the OK button. Go back to the regular iTunes window and select your mp3 file, then go up to the Advanced menu and select "Convert Selection to AIFF"--it should convert it very quickly. Grab the new aif file and drag out of iTunes window onto the Desktop. Do GetInfo on it and change the extension to .aiff (iTunes exports it plain name.aif). While you are in GetInfo verify that it plays in the Preview section. Now add it to the /System/Library/Sounds folder. Oh, and remove the one that doesn't work. You'll have to authenticate to do that too.

No Guest Account option in Accounts tab of Sys Prefs

I seemed to have lost (???) the GUEST option for accounts that can be set up in the ACCOUNTS area of System Preferences. Maybe I inadverently deleted the official "Shared" folder or something... don't know but how do I get that type of account option back again in 10.4.11? This is a special template for Guest Accounts Apple provides in 10.4.11 as differs from me as sys admin simply setting up a new account called Guest with Standard privileges. In other words, there is no template of guest privileges to attach to a new user account.
In 10.5.2, for example, there is a standard "guest" account which automatically is deleted after the user logged in as Guest logs out.
Perhaps in 10.4.11 this didn't exist? I'm sure there was some standard Guest account though when I first installed the OS.

Software Update runs every time I reboot (with Sys Pref box unchecked)!

I have gone to System Preferences and unchecked the Software Update box so it won't run automatically, but every time the computer starts it loads software update. Is there somewhere else I need to disable this?

System Prefs->Accounts->your account->login items and ensure that there's nothing there WRT software update. If nothing's there, then reset Software Update, go to ~/Library/Preferences/ and select the com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist file, CMD+I, and lock it. Restart and see if that fixes things. Finally, some Apple apps have a check for updates automatically option. If checked, that might be triggering SU.

How do I stop iCal from changing my gCal events to UTC time zone when entering new events?

Within the last week, iCal has begun automatically changing the time zone of new events I enter via Calendar on my Google calendar to UTC. It does not do this for items entered on my iCal calendar.
I enter the date and time (Pacific Time) and as soon as I add an invittee or click "Done" it changes the time zone to UTC.
Prefs:
iCal time zone support is on
Mac time zone is set automatically (and its correctly finding PDT)
gCal time zone is also set for Pacific
Calendar reads 11-1 pm...
Yes, one solution would be to not use Calendar. Barring that, what do you suggest?

I was having the same problem and spent some time on the phone with apple today.(new computer is under apple care). Tried a ton of stuff with different folks and ultimately I (well, me and 3 apple specialists) was able to solve this issue.
Here's the break down:
1. Quit Mail, Calendar and Messages.
2. Open: System Preference -> Mail, Contacts & Calendars
3. Delete all your google accounts (using the little minus button below your account list)
4. Restart your computer.
5. Re-add your google accounts. (Obviously, keep the calendar box checked).
6. Open calendar and wait for your google info to populate.
7. Attempt to add an event with correct time zone.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Events I created while I was having the problem still had the problem.
I simply deleted those broken events and recreated them with refreshed settings.
I've only had this working for a few hours so I'm not certain it will stay working forever.
But for now it is a relief.
I realize deleting and re-adding the accounts is annoying but it's a lot less frustrating than seeing UTC every time you add an event.
Hope that helps everyone else having this problem.

Elements 11 vs 13: how can I add a new place tag to my PSE13 database without using the wretched and totally inadequate map technology that Elements 13 wants to impose.

I have recently installed Elements 13 having used Elements 11.0 successfully to build a database of 30,000 plus images indexed by place, people, and photo date. Elements 11 allowed me to add new places which are meaningful to me but which are a complete mystery to the mapping technology of Elements 13. For example some years ago I lived in London in a road called Argyle Road. In elements 11 I could enter the place tag as Argyle Road. In Elements 13 I am required to locate Argyle Road on the map, but the map presupposes that the Argyle Road I am referring to is in Ealing in West London. It is not!
I now live in a place called Broadsands but the Elements 13 Map places this 0.5 miles away from what I would describe as Broadsands.
So the question: how can I add a new place tag to my database without using the wretched and totally inadequate map technology that Elements 13 wants to impose.

Yes, you are right. If I manually code the same amount of those components in the JSF pages instead of generating them dynamically, the server will still run out of memory. That is to say, JSF pages might not accommodate a great deal of concurrent visiting. If I upgrade the server to just allow 1,000 teachers making their own test papers at the same time, but when over 2,000 students take the same questionnaire simultaneously, the server will need another upgrading. So I have to do what you have told me, using JS+DOM instead of upgrading the server endlessly.
