Adding a website in IIS

I'm running a CF MX 6 installation on a win2000 server. I
have added a new website to the server but I can not seem to get CF
to parse the pages. How to I get IIS to push all the CFM files to
my CF MX server?

I've have successfully configured the website using the
config tool and I can successfully get to my test.cfm by entering
the file name in the url (www.1031resource.net/test.cfm). However,
if I just type in www.1031resource.net I get an error message from
my browser saying, "I have chosen to open a document which is a
application/octet-stream". Then it wants me to pick the application
program.
This happens despite the fact that I have the default
document set to "test.cfm"
Any ideas?

There isn't much info on this and I am hoping its possible.
I have come across the following article which explains how we can setup SharePoint 2013 Asset Library using video links using a website in IIS that is mapped to a UNC path.

This is great. However we have an issue where I work and I need somehow to get SharePoint mediaplayer to point to a video directly using the UNC path like :- \\WINSP13\TempVideos\NTV_Carr_Indig.wmv without the use of a website in IIS.
I understand that we won't be able to stream the video then thats ok.
when trying to add a video link to an asset library using the UNC path, we get the following error: We don't support
playing a video of that format from a file share.
Is there a way or a workaround to do this? we are using only javascript to do this (AngularJS or any custom Javascript player such as MediaElement)

From a SharePoint architecture perspective, this is a BAD design, since you are rerouting the communications (from the client to the UNC) away from and outside of SharePoint... as a result, SP cannot provide any level of guarantee about the ability for videos
to play on the client machine.
Secondarily, I'm not sure that the browser will let you pull resources from such different locations (doing so has been the root of several type of attacks, such as "Cross Site Scripting").
That said (and assuming the browser lets you), you can always use JS to handle creating the video player HTML and setting the UNC location... instead of using a site asset library to store the links, just create a list for the videos

Configure MaxDB Content Server Website in IIS 6.0

Dear All:
I need to know how can I configure content server website on IIS. Our company was working on standalone server 2003 with MaxDB 7.6. Now the server has been migrated into windows 2003 cluster with MaxDB 7.6 installed on the same cluster.
I tried to execute WebSiteManCS.exe from content server CD but i got the error "An error occured during the creation of the SAP Content Server website in IIS".
Could you please advise how can I resolve this issue? Also, I did not created IIS cluster on both content server nodes. Do I have to create it or is there any steps that I have to follow in this case?

The installation of the content server creates the web site automatically.

Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials - Restore Whole RD Website On IIS

I Have Very Little Knowledge In IIS/IIS 7.5
Recently, I tried to add Spiceworks into my Small Business Server Website as a Sub Directory such as http://websitename.com/spiceworks
this did not work, but while doing this I have messed up the SBS Remote Web Access Site. I tried to remove and add the IIS Server Role in Server Manager, this gave no luck what so ever, I then tried to delete the Mac, Certificate and Default Web Site from
IIS MMC Snap-in and re-add them, they did not work and I'm not sure where they are located. I do not have Exchange OWA or Sharepoint installed, I only have Spiceworks running on it's own web server under port 9877 and all the Microsoft SBS Software from the
install.
I cannot not access any website including the Client Connect, Main Website and the Spiceworks website at all.
I don't really want to Format and Install SBS again as it was difficult to get it installed and I have about 1TB of data what would have to be moved else where. Is there any way on how I can restore the whole website back to a fresh install state?
And sorry, Backup Drive has failed so no backups currently.

I have added a website as safe for popups.when I select an item it takes me to a page that says I have been logged out. does not happen with other browsers

I have selected my website as safe. While on the site I fill out a form, then when going to the next page to view results, Firefox says I've been logged out. I hit the back button and go back to the form fill in page. It will not take me to the page of results. This does not happen in other browsers.
This also happens with other websites.

How do you depixelate photos for adding to websites?

I can't find a way to do this in iPhoto. Exporting at lowest resolution isn't sufficiently low for some websites. Thanks. G.

On the question of resolution:
Some folks think of resolution as file size - more is better. Some people think it's a matter of pixels, and some think it's a matter of pixels per inch or dpi. All of them are right, in some fashion, and wrong too. The problem is that each is working to their own definition of 'resolution' and there is no "official" one. Frankly, it's a bit of a meaningless term.
As to DPI: there is no dpi on your computer. There are no inches to have pixels per... So that's got nothing to do with picture quality. (Though it can impact on the quality of prints but that's a different thing.)
Pixelation is usually caused when there are not enough pixels for the area being covered - for instance, if you have an image that is 250 x 250 pixels and try exporting at at 700 x 700. Or when a Jpeg has been edited and edited to the point that there isn't enough data to fill out the individual pixels.
I would not worry about file size either. There are millions of photos on the internet that are less than 319kb and look excellent.
So, the quesion I would ask are: What are the dimensions of the image you have in iPhoto, what settings are you exporting at?

Proxying multiple virtual websites from IIS to multiple WLS

I have an IIS 5.0 server with four virtual sites, each with it's own IP address. I have two seperate WLSs (one is 5.1 and one is 6.1) that I want the sites to proxy to. I followed the instructions in "Installing and Configuring the Microsoft Internet Information Server (ISAPI) Plug-In" but can only have one virtual server running at a time for it to forward. What am I doing wrong?

I see this information in the admin manual for version 5.1 and 6.1 but not for version 6.0. Was it just omitted by accident or is there a different process for handling multiple IIS virtual web sites in version 6.0?

MBAM 2.0 SP1 Self help website error after changing name of website on IIS and web config

guys
i need your help here , i have fully operational 3 tier enviroment with config manager ,when i created this enviroment i only used the fully qualified domain name of the web server and now i need to change the name in order to comply with company website
names.
now i have went to ISS and changed the name on the bindings and changed also the web config file and this resolved the helpdesk website as it can now talk to backend and retrieve the key .
my only issue now is the self service website , i changed the web config for it as we and when i try to retrieve the key it says an unknown error has occured please contact IT , am not sure where else to check , please help

If I would be in your place, i would rather have created an alias for the existing FQDN with that of the newer one into the on-premises DNS Server.
Create a Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) in DNS that users and group policy settings will use to connect to the MBAM server. For example:
http://bitlocker.contoso.com.
Open DNS manager.
Expand DCServer_Name>>Forward lookup Zone>>Domain_Name.
Right Click on domain name and choose New Alias (CName).
Provide the alias name(bitlocker.contoso.com) and the FQDN for the target host.

Can adding a website reference in a portfolio include a preview?

I'm building a portfolio in Acrobat X Pro and including links to websites I've created. There's a boring white box preview. Can I show an image of the website home page there? If so, how?

I am supposing here drag and drop open a graphics program close up window until some of the image is show and open the PDF Document click inside the box.
Then switch to the Graphics program drag from it to box and drop.

Multiple application pools for ColdFusion possible in the same IIS website?

I would like to set up a single website with CFM11 under IIS8.5
In this website there are several CFM applications, each under a different "Application" subfolder. For security purposes, monitoring and separate maintenance shutdowns per application, these would all need their own "application pool".
However, this means that these applications should run under a different application pool than their website root node. In IIS this causes a 403.18 exception:
HTTP Error 403.18 - Forbidden
The specified request cannot be processed in the application pool that is configured for this resource on the Web server.
Most likely causes:
•An ISAPI filter or custom module changed the URL to run in a different application pool than the original URL.
•An ISAPI extension (or custom module) used ExecuteURL (or ExecuteRequest) to run in a different application pool than the original URL.
•You have a custom error page that is located in one application pool but is referenced by a Web site in another application pool. When the URL is processed, it is determined by IIS that that it should have been processed in the first application pool, not the other pool.
•The Web site has multiple applications configured. The application this request is configured to run in is set to run in an application pool that does not exist.
All works fine if the "applications" in the subfolders run under the same application pool as the website root. However that is not my preferred setup... The behaviour is consistent over all CFM-applications that I deploy, no matter how simple they are...
Two questions:
- is coldfusion actually looking to "higher" folders than I expect it to? (and can that be avoided)
- any hints or experiences on how to avoid / solve this issue?

Here are the steps you need to follow:
When you create connector for your ColdFusion 11 website, you get the “Jakarta” as virtual directory added under your website in IIS. If you don't then add 'jakarta' as virtual directory in your website.
You need to right click on “Jakarta” folder and click on “Convert to Application”.
Select the new Application Pool of the Application (say Test) added under website (CF 11)
Click OK. Restart IIS.
NOTE : You need not to restart IIS as well however if you still face the issue after following the above steps then try to restart IIS.

After configuring WebSite, STS and Central Admin I added the user from IIS , But not able to found from central admin in Form Authentication.
I checked in database the user is added.

I was finally able to get the FBA working. After many failed attempts, I knew there was a configuration issue which was causing the error.
I provided connection string and provider details at 4 places, instead of the 3 mentioned in various blogs around ->
1. Sharepoint Central Admin
2. Sharepoint Web Services
3. SecurityTokenServiceApplication
4. And finally the web application itself.
The connection string for 2nd and 3rd will remain same however, provider details need to be added.
After completing this step, I was able to login using Form Based Authentication without an issue.

Adding website for home screen broken

Seen a couple people complain about this so I know it's not just me. Adding a website to the home screen no longer works. The message that the link has been created pops up but it never actually does it. It worked previously as I still have 2 old links on my home screen. One person said it was restoring a backup that did it. He then reloaded BlackBerry 10 without restoring his backup and voila it works. I'd really like to not have to do that though! Took a long time to download the apps I have, organize home screen, etc etc. Figure this one out please BlackBerry. It should be an easy fix! Very annoying that this simple feature is not working.

How to add a certificate to IIS global "Server Certificates" list using PowerShell?

Hi, been surfing the web for an example on how to add a certificate to the "global" IIS "Server Certificates" list using PowerShell but to no luck. I already have code in place on how to tie / associate a specific website with a specific cert but not how
to add the new .cer file using the "Complete Certificate Request..." wizard using PowerShell.... I dont expect the final code to become published but if someone had an idea on howto integrate / get an entry point on where to interact between the "Server Certificate"
list in IIS and POSH I would be super happy! :|
I am runnign IIS on a Windows 2008R2 x64 Standard Edition if that helps..... of course, I would saddle for an CLI if there is no other way, but POSH is of course the way to go! :)

Although it comes close, the suggested code example points on howto import / incorporate .pfx files - I am getting fed by .cer files which I need to add into the IIS console using POSH.
I tried explore the IIS.CertObj object but was not able to work out if this one could be used for importing / adding .cer files into IIS! However, launching the following command from a POSH console with Import-Module Webadministration already
loaded into that shell;
$certMgr = New-Object -ComObject IIS.CertObj returns the following error message:
New-Object : Cannot load COM type IIS.CertObj

More or less the one thing that I am trying to get up and running is an automated FTPS solution - I just use the IIS console to be able to troubleshoot / compare how things scripted from POSH interacts in the MMC representation. The error I am getting
might be that I am lacking some IIS components to be in place to be able to automate some parts of the IIS - as suggested by the IIS.CertObj object listed in the example..... I will get back if I can track down which component needs to be added to be
able to reference the IIS.CertObj object.

Upgrade CF9 to CF11 w/IIS can't get to migration/configuration stage

I finally go approval to do my upgrade not as a stand alone, side-by-side upgrade which was requiring me to do a major hack that wasn't working due to our funky coding and security twists we have implemented in the code.
Unfortunately, when I do the upgrade/installation it installs, but I can't move on to the migration/configuration stage of the installation. I can't see anything in the error logs. Sometimes I'll get the 500.19 error message when I try to connect to the administrator myself, other times nothing. When I get the HTTP Error 500.19 Internal Server Error it refers to the ApplicationHost.config or web.config file that contains malformed xml element. When I look at the old web.config file it contains about 9 handlers that are using either jrun_iis6_wildcard.dll or jrun_iis6.dll. I do have the IIS6 to IIS7 configuration selected in the new installation of CF11, but I can't move forward. I want to just copy these 2 files from my CF9 installation, but I don't know where to put them. I've even renamed the web.config file so that IIS would recreate it so it wouldn't be referring to the old CF9 web.config file and getting stuck there, which one error message once referred to these lines in the CF9 web.config file. I understand that this question blurs the ColdFusion/IIS category boundaries. I'm not sure where my error is lying, with IIS or CF11. I want to just enter these handlers manually in IIS 7, but my boss seems to think we need to have wsconfig do that for us in case it is putting code elsewhere and we are missing configuration changes that really puts us in a spiral. Thoughts/suggestions anyone? I hope I was clear enough.
Another thing is that we have our CFIDE folder for CF9 located in a different directory, for security purposes I'm guessing, yet I can't figure out how CF is recognizing that it should go there to run. In CF Administrator it is referring to a different folder for CFIDE that doesn't exist. I have only seen one referrence to the correct location, and that was in the registry when I was ensuring CF11 references were deleted. CF9 had it there. I guess I'm wondering if there is a setting somewhere that i need to change so CF11 will look in the correct location and then run and go forward with the migration/configuration part of the instalation. I can't find it in any of my searches that look for that foldername in the files.
I have inherited this project and there is very little documented regarding configuration changes that were done.

OK, my installation is working, although I'm still trying to get the applications to work (permissions issues I think). Since I kept having migration difficulties we created a CAR first with CF9. We then ended up just doing a straight upgrade on our development server. I performed the install with server configuration and selected Configure my webserver for ColdFusion 11, IIS. When you launch the browser to connect to CF11 administrator if you get the 500 error message it may be because the SSL for the CFIDE>Administrator folder in IIS is selected. Deselect it and that error messge should go away (if it is that that is). We kept getting a 404.7 error message of deny file extension. I was thinking it had to do with my cfm extensions because I was trying to open a cfm, but it wasn't the case. The error message mentioned isapi.redirect.dlls. I finally found an error message under my IIS FailedRequestLogs that mentioned something about Request Filtering. Turns out .dll was not in the allowed list of my virtual Jakarta folder. Once I added this and restarted IIS I was able to get into my CF Administrator 11 and installed the CAR file.
Now I keep getting Unauthorized errors and need to figure that out. Permissions are looking like the cause of that.
Things I learned (you may already know this):
CF9 can have CFIDE placed wherever, but CF11 needs to keep it where it is installed.
CF11 doesn't need IIS 6 Metabase Compatability installed, whereas CF9 did (at least ours did)
We kept getting a duplicat MIME Type error message too for .air. That was added at the server level and inherited at the website level. I deleted it at the server level and added it at the website level.
