Adding People to Conversation

One of the girls in my office has been having trouble with adding people to conversations. When she clicks the Add People button, not all available contacts are displayed in the list to add. Her contacts do show in her main skype window and she's able to start a conversation with any of them. There seems to only be an issue when she is trying to add people to an existing conversation. Any ideas on what might be causing this or how we can correct it?

There should be some security preference at your settings that needs to be activated to avoid this situation.

3G service issues, no text sounds, hear other people's conversations, etc..

I'm having some issues with my new iPhone 3G... I wasn't having any of these issues with my old original iPhone... any thoughts?
3G reception... I live in downtown Denver. I've checked the coverage maps at AT&T's website, and I should have full 3G coverage in my area. I don't. In fact, if I have 3G turned on, I have no service at all... it actually says "no service" and I can make or receive no calls whatsoever. The Genius Bar at the Apple Store replaced the phone last week. This fixed nothing. They had no other answers and said they'd never heard of this issue before. My sister has AT&T with a Palm Treo and she lives on the same block as me. She gets fantastic 3G reception. My roommate has AT&T with an LG VU and gets great 3G reception as well.
Next problem... my phone doesn't make sound when I receive text messages. Apple support over the phone said to do a hard reset. So I did... and the sound works for a few hours... and then stops. The Genius Bar told me to do a restore on iTunes... so I did... and this seemed to fix the problem for a day, and then the problem came back. I did another hard reset, which again fixed the problem for a short while, but then the sound quit working again. This problem has been persistent on both my original iPhone 3G and the replacement 3G from last week.
Next... Two or three times a week I can hear other peoples phone conversations when I'm trying to have my own conversation, so I have to hang up and try the call again. And it's not like it's very faint... it's like they're right on the phone with me, but they can't hear me or the person I'm on the phone with. I've never had this problem with any other phone before. Both iPhone 3G's (my original 3G I bought a few weeks ago and the replacement from the Genius Bar last week) have this problem.
This next one is probably not so much a problem with the phone as with iTunes... every time I plug my phone into my computer to sync, it takes a minimum of 45 minutes to backup. I usually just end up canceling the backup because I don't have time to wait around. This is incredibly inconvenient... I don't understand why it takes this long. I have an iBook G4 and I'm running Mac OS X 10.5.4. I have the most current version of iTunes.
Quite often when I push the home button to try and do anything with my phone, the screen flashes and then goes blank. When I try to wake it again, the screen stays blank and the phone is completely unresponsive. I have to hold down the power button until the screen comes on with the option to turn off the phone to get the phone to respond. Both my original 3G and the replacement 3G have this problem as well.

Unfortunately, most of my advice is in the "hindsight is 20-20" category.
First off, I would never have purchased the peripheral accessories until the 14 day return period had expired. Second, you learned the hard way what the "14 days" really means.
Too bad you didn't do any homework, reading this and other forums and tech sites. Even word of mouth from others. That, more than anything could have steered you towards different phone choices from the get-go and I will leave that there with no further comment other than to say most of the issues you described have been discussed in this forum, ad nauseam.
Once you got into the refurbished phone exchanges, that is where things really went haywire. What someone tells you over the phone is a sketchy proposition, and when it comes down to it, it's your word against theirs.
I think Verizon tried to make it right, though. Remember, they don't make the phones. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.
You stated yourself you were a satisfied Verizon customer before this. Had the first two phones performed as they should, you would still be a satisfied Verizon customer.
Doubt any of that will make you any happier, but after you went through the effort of writing such a long post, I thought I'd try.

Adding people to a call

I am trying to add people to a call. Sometimes it won't show the add to group button or when I add them, the call wont go through. What to do?

It seems to be the expected behavior. For Lync Server side, there is no way to add ring back tone when adding people to a group call.

Adding people to a conversation

while on a call we were able to add additional contacts during the conversation so as to conduct a conference call. This has stopped working. any ideas? plenty of credit in the account.

Adding People to an Organization

In the address book I can create a new "Organization". However, when I click the "People" tab (while creating or editing the organization) I see no way to add people/contacts to the organization.

Well, that does seem to work. Seems like a strange design though. Seems like you would create the organization and then have an "Add" button on the organization's "People" tab, similar to how you add people to a "group".
I also noticed that if you edit a person, go to "Advanced", and type something in the "Organization" field (which is how I am interpreting your suggestion), it will actually create that organization if it doesn't already exist. So, make a slight typo when adding an organization name to an existing person and you create a 2nd organization...
Again, seems like a very strange design. But THANK YOU for your reply! At least I have a way to make it work now.

In my experience, it happens from the other direction. I.e., if you edit people
and put the organization name in the organization field, they will show up in

Automated , after adding people to DC....

Hello all,
I have now a serval people employed,
And now we are groing, we have serval OU's with dffrent staf's and functions.
Now they have all a private_folder, central folder where they can put all the documents for each other to see/
But now my question is,
How can i automate this, so when people are added to the DC they al get a new private_folder and have acces to the central folder automated? I tought first of VBscripts, but cant find nothing about it.
can somebody help me out here????

You have already all the shared_folders, but you only add the new person to a security group where he haves the permissions to do what it supposed to do in that security groep? Is there a possible way in AD-DS that when you choose a groep there he automated

Why dont we get asked to be added in a conversation on iMessages?

hello, i was just wondering why we are not asked to be in a conversation on iMessages? my friends add me in convos with 20 people and the people never stop texting so my ipod ends up going crazy and freezing. plus when you press delete conversation, and someone texts something back after it just comes back so unless every stops texting (which never happens) the conversation never ends... i was wondering why?

The biggest "group" I have been in involved me, my daughter and her husband.
Until just recently I kept this "Conversation" on my Phone.
It was Number to Number and had, at the time it was sent, synced to my Messages beta app.
As I have had several other Conversations with my daughter on her Number this scenario that you speak about did not happen for me (i.e whilst the Conversation was "Saved" on my Phone her contact details did not place her back in that Conversation).
I can imagine that 20 or so people could keep new messages coming so fast that you don't have time to "Close" a conversation and delete before the next message comes.
I could also see that if you are syncing to Messages beta or to another iOS device that you can't simultaneously delete the conversation from all devices at once and that syncing is almost continuously overriding what you are trying to do.
However it is also something that I have not seen other people post about.

Access denied when adding people to SharePoint group

I've been having problems with pulling AD members in one of my site collections for awhile now. Been troubleshooting with what information I can find online. One step I took was to blank out the LDAP search string for each site collection so that it's not
limited to certain OUs.
Also I am getting security log entries that my farm account is trying to authenticate as a privileged [administrative permissioned] account for an employee that is no longer with us. Coincidentally enough he's the one that deployed this SharePoint solution

I need help in tracking down why I cannot add users to groups in this one site collection; but my root site collection I can add people no problem.

Are you trying to add user by custom solution? If so then it seems your code is using the impersonate method to run code with admin privileged (i.e. RunWithElevatedPrivileges or User token).
If this is the case then you have to first add new account as site collection in site then change that web application pool identity on IIS. Go to IIS-->select your web app pool-->then go to properties and verify which account is been used
there. If it is old then replace with your account.

Call Button Greyed Out After A Third Participant Is Added to The Conversation in Office Communicator 2007 R2

Hi there,
I have a problem with the office communicator. I'm able to make a call to one party without any problems. The issue occurs when I add two or more parties into the conversation. The call button will be greyed out and Im unable to make a call.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the OCS but the problem still persists.
Appreciate if anybody could help.

Adding People in PSE 11 Organizer

I've just started using PSE 11 Organizer and tried to add some of my pictures to People. I selected several photos in the Media Room and then clicked the Add people button. After a brief time, a dialog momentarily appeared and then immediatly closed and a ghost message appeared saying "No new people in your selection". I tried other different selections but all with the same result. I checked the People tab and there are no people listed there. What am I doing wrong?

Known limit for how many characters can be entered in the To field when adding People and Groups ?

I am running MOSS 2007 SP1. I browse to site settings > People and groups and a group which has more than 60 members. I select all > Click Actions > Email Users. Nothing happens. I select less users, new outlook window comes up as it should. I am running outlook 2007. I first thought that the limit was 50 users, but different user selections let me select 51 users as well. I then concentrated on the character limit and I noticed that there were about 1580 characters in the To field when I selected 50/51 users.
Is there a known limit in sharepoint/outlook client for this function on how many characters can be entered in the To field?

This is a by-design behavior, not from SharePoint side, but Internet Explorer. The limitation by the 2083 characters in IE for the Max URL length is described in the following KB article:

As a workaround, you may need to divide the list up and not send all the email at the same time. Hope it helps!

Updated to Yosemite, iMessage fusing different people and numbers to same conversation

I recently updated to Yosemite and my iMessages is getting some contacts mixed up. For example, I had previously used iMessage to communicate with my dad who has an iphone and imessage. Now with Yosemite my mom who uses SMS with a different number as my father, is added to the conversation with my dad. It makes no sense and two different numbers are used in the same thread, I have no idea who I message from my computer. On my phone all is normal.

Do you have an Address card in the Contacts app that has both sets of info on it ?
DO they share and Apple ID ?
You may find that the name in the "To" spot has to be used like a drop down to select the "right" number.

Cannot add people to Group Voice call Version 6.12...

Hi,
Currently with the latest version of skype now you cannot add people to the voice call if they have already been added to the conversation but were not able to answer the call at an earlier time. The only way for them to join the conversation is for them to call me. Before you were able to just simply click "Add to Call" on skype for Mac and now you cannot. Also this created issues last night as you are currenlty unable to remove people from conversations which is also a major limitation. So we had major issues last night trying to host a skype conference call.
