Administration of session

hi,
I have Application server 9i as middle tier and oracle 9i as backend and i am loging to my application from a browser.
The problem is that in the v$session table it is not capturing the OSUSER and MACHINE name from where the application is being accessed. So if any session hangs i am unable to kill that particular session.
Wether i have to set and particular session on my 9iAS, or i can see that in some other table??
Please help me out...

An unexpected error occurred while retrieving the session for Web application: logContext.
          Cause might Failed to retrieve the session from persistent store.

  • "No Log Found" in OBIEE 11g Administration- Manage Sessions

    I am using 11.1.1.5 and have set the Repository logging to Log Level 2..and have also made the User logging to Level 2 as well. I know there is a session variable called LOGLEVEL and I have also tried to edit that. Despite this, I am still unable to see the physical SQL generated by the BI Server under Administration->Manage Sessions. Any idea what I may be missing?

    Hi,
    It's bug. you do workaround method.
    Method 1:
    create session veraible and set it log level 0 ro 7 then u can able to manage session view log (physical query)
    see my screen short
    http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/215/viewloginitsessionvaria.jpg/
    INIT LOGLEVEL
    and just add dummy table mentioned below kind
    select 7 from IW_POSITION
    assign system session variable:
    LOGLEVEL
    then save it and try to login weblogic then u can able to see the view log.
    Method 2:
    for the particular report do it in answres -->advanced tab
    can you try putting the below syntax in prefix section of advanced tab.
    SET VARIABLE LOGLEVEL=2,DISABLE_CACHE_HIT=1;
    It should generate the log with database sql as well.

  • Cannot see the Settings Administration Manage Sessions View Log

    Hi !
    I'm using aggregate tables and to verify if they work well, I need to check the sql statement. But in the Answer "Settings > Administration > Manage Sessions > View Log", I see : cannot find history
    Do you know why I can't see my sql statement ? Thanks

    Hi,
    i think you dint enable the query logging..
    in your rpd open your user and in the logging level select 2 or 1.
    before that you need to enable one thing.

  • Display administrative user sessions in dashboard?

     Is it possible to modify the default setting in Multipoint 2012 to permit display/control of sessions for users who are members of the local Administrators group?  We have a workaround/bug in an application we are running in MPS which requires
    this elevated privilege, but obviously can't see/control the sessions of these users with the Dashboard, unless I'm missing something.
    Thanks in advance!

    Do you already set the DISPLAYNAME variabele in the authorisation block?

  • How to enable 2 concurrent Administrative remote desktop sessions in Win 2008 R2 ??

    Hi,
    By default, 2008 R2 allow 2 concurrent administrative remote desktop sessions. But when i trying to connect 2nd administrative remote session, the 1 st will be disconnected.
    Is any settings need or just my misunderstanding ??
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Thanks for your posting in Windows Server Forum.
    Yeah, agree with words of Bred; only 2 remote desktop session is allowed for administrative purpose. If you want more than 2 remote desktop session than you need to purchase RDS CAL, install RD Licensing role activate it first and then configure CAL on it.
    There are 2 types of CAL available (USER & DEVICE). You can purchase CAL according to your company requirements. For more information you can refer below article.
    Install and issue RDS CALs or TS CALs

  • "Maximum Session Length in Seconds" Not Working In Apex 3.2

    Hello.
    I am using Apex 3.2 and have noticed that pages are session timing out after just 10 minutes of inactivity. I am aware of the new security attributes "Maximum Session Length in Seconds" and "Maximum Session Idle Time in Seconds".
    I asked our Apex admin and he reported that these attributes are set to 8 hours on the instance level. Within my own Apex application, these two attributes are not set at all. According to the popup help window associated
    with these attributes, if they are not set, then there is no timeout at all that is enforced.
    So, does anyone know why my application pages are session timing out after just 10 minutes of inactivity and users are forced to login again?
    Thank you.
    Elie

    Scott,
    Thank you for your help on this.
    I've uploaded my Apex app called "Online Model", App ID 62063 in my workspace EEG on the Oracle hosted site apex.oracle.com.
    Workspace = EEG
    Username = [email protected]
    Password = galaxy (I'll change the password after you're done helping me)
    Orginally, this app had "Database Authentication" set. I changed this to "DAD Authentication" so that you can simply run it without having to login.
    If I open up the app in developer mode and simply leave it alone for, say, 30 minutes and then click on the "developer bar" to see the definition of one of the pages, Apex instead prompts me to re-login again into Apex. I've not placed any values in any of the "Session Timeout" fields on any of the pages in this app.
    When the same app is run as a user (that is, no "developer bar" appears at bottom of pages), again the page will time out after about 30 minutes of in-activity.
    And as mentioned in my original posting, our Apex Admin has the "Administrator Timeout Session" field set to 8 hours.
    The Apex 3.2 docs say that if no value is placed in these Timeout Session fields, then there is no timeout imposed.
    Thank you for your help. It's much appreciated.

  • Session ID and IP Address

    Hi Experts,
    In BIEE 11.1.1.6.11
    I can view the Session ID and IP Address through Administration-> Manager Session ,
    I believe both of them must be stored related file in local machine .
    But I do not know which files. Could you please tell me how to find them?  Thanks.

    hang on, if I made my session facade statefull, and the first method you called was login...
    all the other methods already have boilerplate code to wrap exceptions, not really a big deal to add checkIsLoggedIn();
    public otherBusinessMethod1() throws ApplicationException, RemoteException{
      try{
        checkIsLoggedIn();
        do stuff...
      catch(Exception e){
        throw wrapException(e);
    }This would work right?
    I realise this has a scalability problem cause you're storing state on the server. I wonder how much of a problem.
    I guess the other option is to pass the login info through each time
    public businessMethod1(LoginInfo loginInfo){
      try{
        logIn(loginInfo);
        do stuff...
      catch(Exception e){
        throw wrapException(e);
    }Or am I barking up the wrong tree altogether?

  • Query the Manage Sessions Table in OBIEE

    Hi All,
    First I should ask, is it possible to get the information you see on Administration -> Manage Sessions, using a query to the database ?
    If not, I would appreciate Ideas to get the best time to reboot OPMCTL on a system that is working almost 24Hrs, is never a constant when users are not working on the system. The idea is to not reboot OPMCTL when there are active sessions.
    Creative Ideas welcome
    Thanks.

    Hope you are on Oracle DB if yes, write a simple query on db tables (V$session and V$session_logops) based on the moudle filter 'nqserver' which gives all Active SESSIONS
    SELECT SID, Serial#, UserName, Status, SchemaName, Logon_Time
    FROM V$Session
    WHERE
    Status=‘ACTIVE’ AND MODULE LIKE '%nqserver%' AND
    UserName='BI_USER';

  • Administration Tool Cache vs. Cursor Cache

    Hi everyone,
    Someone asked me what's the difference between the cache in the administration tool ( Manage->Cache) versus cursor cache (Settings -> Administrator -> Manage Sessions), and even though I've cleared them both many-a-time, I still am not sure the difference.
    Can someone explain to me the difference between the two?
    Thanks!
    -Joe

    Hi,
    The cache in the administration tool is a file based cache on the OBIEE server which stores the results of database requests. This means that if a user makes a request the OBIEE server first checks the cache to see if the query has already been run and cached, or if a superset of the query has been run and cached (i.e. a less restrictive query that the current query can be satisfied from). If it finds there is a cache entry then it will return the results from here instead of issuing any SQL to the database, thereby speeding up getting the results back to the user.
    The cache shown in the cusrsor cache is the cache on the presentation server, this is a cache of the content which is being returned to the user's browser, this means if the user goes back to see results for a query they have already made then the presentation server can just return the same content to them without even having to go to the OBIEE server again at all.
    So basically 2 levels of caching, one on the OBIEE server and one on the presentation server.
    Regards,
    Matt

  • Manage Session: "No Log Found"

    Hi all,
    I want to see the session log by going into Dashboards > Settings > Administration > Manage Sessions > Session Monitor. But I see "NO LOG FOUND".
    I read in the documentations "Oracle BI EE Administration Guide" where it said to change the logging level of user= "Administrator" ( i am using this user ) between 2 and 5. I did that, and restarted all the services (oc4j, bi server & ppt server) but NO result.

  • Primary Cisco ACS - Invalid Administration Connection

    Is it possible to change Access Policy from command line?

    Access policy can't be modified from CLI. This could be computer specific issue. Have you tried accessing ACS GUI page from different machines?
    If its machine specific issue then you may check few things
    If we are using Proxy server then make sure that the proxy server's ip address is allowed, check the proxy server settings from:
    Pull up a web browser > Tools > Internet Option > Connections > LAN Settings
    Make sure that we have JAVA installed, and also go to Control Pannel > choose JAVA> Network Settings > And make sure its using browser settings.
    Also, if its working from other machines, I would suggest you to use the HTTP port allocation feature to configure the range of TCP ports
    that ACS uses for administrative HTTP sessions.
    HTTP Port Allocation for Administrative Sessions:

  • Problem On DB Sessions

    Hi
    I am a java developer .I used oracle 10g Express Edition for my application database. while running my running my application I can find in administration database sessions queries like "SELECT VALUE FROM NLS_INSTANCE_PARAMETERS WHERE PARAMETER = 'NLS_DATE_FORMAT.....'.
    My express edition capable of having 10 sessions in database. But this query occupying more than 7 queries. So I cannot run my application. If there are more users for my application connection to the database is refused.
    What is this problem ? How can I rectify this? Any help would be helpful for me..

    Firstly, you are probably in the wrong forum. There is a specific forum for Oracle Express Edition.
    This forum is for Application Express (which is part of Express Edition, and can be put on any other edition too). Given your JDBC error, it doesn't look like you are building an application in Apex.
    Depending on how your application is managing users/sessions, you are either stateful (each end user has a database session) or stateless (multiple end users share a pool of common database sessions). Stateful sessions can either have a separate process (or thread in Windows) for each session, or use multi-threaded server connections.
    So the question is how many concurrent end users are you anticipating, how many concurrent sessions and how many concurrent active sessions. Since Express Edition only uses 1 CPU, that will probably be the bottleneck for active sessions, rather than networks.

    hi,
    Here is the file directory...
    OracleBI\server\Log\NQQuery.log
    And also from Answers you can get this...Setting-->administrator-->Manage Session--> Search for your report and click on ViewLog- Then it will open the log file for that particular report.
