Administrator account disabled [Not sure if right forum]
So, I have a computer which I have been using the default Administrator account to work with for a while and when I connected to a network at School, it disabled the Administrator account from some random script. I only have a standard user account which
can't really do anything other than browse the internet. Is there any way I could re-enable the account with no administrator privileges? I also don't have a CD drive, because it's a laptop.
Thanks
By not having a spare admin account (why not?) and not having a CD drive you're making life difficult for yourself. You now need to do this:
Burn a Windows Repair CD on some other machine.
Create a
Windows Repair flash disk on some other machine.
Use this disk to boot the problem machine into Repair Mode.
Use System Restore to set Windows back to a point before you ran the bad script.
Create, test and document a spare admin account. This will save you an enormous amount of trouble.

Hi. I am fairly new. Not sure if this is the right forum for this question. I plan to re-install the OS on my laptop and fix some hidden partitions on my hard-drive. I have soem questions and some questions about using the eSATA feature on the drive, or eSATA with the expantion cards.
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+ 2Ghz, 3Gb RAM, Vista Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 2, ATI 3100. Toshiba Satellite A350D - BA3, AMD QL-62 processor
1. I have a Toshiba Satellite A350D - BA3. There was 1 hidden partition, and 1 that had the back-up and was erased with a previous install. Can I erase and re-merge the hidden partition? How can I see what is on the hidden partition? It is small. From the research I did, it is probably system files only. I made a dvd-rom back-up already, and have used it once. In XP this is how I looked at other ones, I have Vista on the laptop and it is pretty much the same. I looked in control panel - administrative tools - computer management - disk management. I can delete and merge partitions then re-partition: I would need to hook the HDD in the laptop to an external enclosure, then use these features in XP or another OS. Or is there another way?
- I want the whole HDD for the laptop formatted as one drive. But I don't want to render my laptop useless.
2. With this laptop does the BIOS need to be confugured as AHCI so the eSATA port and eSATA features can be accessed? On my desktop and this particular motherboard, that is the case. I have IDE on my desktop and it cannot access certain eSATA features without AHCI or RAID configuration. An Asus M3N78-VM if your curious. This is a new idea I have come across, and havn't even used the eSATA port on my laptop yet. I want to be able to use it. What about AHCI drivers? With the motherboard for my desktop I need a floppy drive to install them. Are they included with Vista? I have been told and read that Vista does/does not include these drivers. I assume that the eSATA port will work on the laptop automatically, and I don't need to worry about this.
3. Anyone know why this laptop does not show up when I search the Toshiba site? I cannot find this model number.
4. Anyone know how easy/safe the bios flash is for this model? I found the last one I believe they made for it, but I had a failed one and did not want to do that to my laptop since that is a waste of money. I don't like windows bios updates.
Any help is appriciated.
Thank you.So this will completely overwrite any of the steps in this process?
sudo gdisk /dev/disk0
If you get any error messages at this point, report the error messages, don't proceed further.
You're now in gdisk interactive mode. Menus/commands are single characters followed by return/enter. So type ? and <enter> and you'll get the main menu listing commands. Type p <enter> and it will print (display) the current GPT. Since you have 5 GPT entries, you can't use a 1 for 1 GPT to MBR scheme like Apple does. The following suggestion is safe, but all hybrid MBRs are non-standard inventions, and therefore I can't tell you how Boot Camp Assistant or Disk Utility will react to this hybrid MBR should you decide to make changes later. What I can tell you is Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X themselves have no problem with this MBR scheme.
r <enter> go to the recovery & transformation menu
h <enter> create a new hybrid MBR
5 <enter> add partion 5 to the MBR
<enter> accept the default MBR hex code of 07
y <enter> set the bootable flag
n <enter> do not protect more partitions
o < enter> print (display) the MBR
You should have two entries. One type EE, one 07, with the 07 entry marked with * under Boot. If you don't, report back. If you do, write out the update partition information, and hope a power failure doesn't occur for the next few seconds...
w <enter> write partition table to disk
reboot. hold down option - you should be able to boot into either Mac HD, Recovery HD, or Windows.
I just tested this same five partition GPT and 2 partition MBR on a working system and the instructions above worked.
Note, so long as CSM-BIOS and thus MBR are required for Boot Camp instead of EFI booting Windows, we're stuck with flaky MBR problems, as well as the 2TB disk limitation for Windows boot disks.
If so, problem solved, thanks! -
SCCM 2012 R2 CU3 - Drivers Not Installing, Local Administrator Account Disabled
After PXE OSD for a Thick Image of Win 7 x64 Ent completes, several Task Sequence steps are not complete. Namely, 3 device drivers are missing (NIC, SM Bus and some other chipset driver), the built-in Administrator Account is disabled and it's not Domain
joined.
I have already re-created the thick WIM twice. It was built in a VMware VM then captured with SCCM Capture Media. The NIC is a Realtek and I have downloaded the most recent version of the drivers from HP's site and added them to a driver package which is
deployed. I even added several older drivers to my Boot Image and created to 2 steps to add drivers in the Task Sequence - one automatically installs the best drivers, the other installs a package with 7 NIC drivers. When I get the error during PXE OSD, I
press F8 and the machine has an IP address and the driver for the NIC appears to be correct. Upon rebooting, Windows completes setup but the Administrator Account is not enabled and the NIC driver is missing, etc.
Here is the portion of the log where errors begin to show up (from D:\SMSTSLog). Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!

11/18/2014 1:07:43 PM 768 (0x0300)Thank you for the reply, you're right the problem is with an image being applied, but not the OS image.
The issue is that for some reason, there were 2 images captured and SCCM automatically created a step for both. Image 2-2 is the valid Windows image, but image 1-1 clearly has some issues. I disabled the that step in the Task Sequence and it installed drivers
and completed the rest of the Task Sequence! -

Administrator Account Disabled after sysprep and capture task sequence in MDT 2010
Hi
We are currently migrating from Windows XP to windows 7. As part of our migration we have 5 base Images (for different areas of the business)
Here is what we are doing:
Create a reference machine with the source files for windows 7 Pro x86
Install applications as part of the Task sequence to build a reference machine.
Make the updates to the machine - required for the build.
Run the Sysprep and capture template to take the capture of the Reference machine.
Import the Capture into the Operating system folder within MDT2010
Create a task sequecne to deploy the image.
Deploy the Image for Testing.
Deploy the image to a machine
Update the machine with the defects
Re Capture the deployed machine and call it ver2.wim
re deploy ver2.wim
Testers test
Defects logged + additional user settings to be captured in the build
Re capture and sysprep runs says the capture has been succesful however after a reboot the administrator account is disabled.
We cant seem to capture anything from here on in. Nothing has been changed in the unattend.
Autologon is set to enable the administrator account and the password is set to blank as this is then handled by policy when the machine is joined to the domain - we have not enabled the unattended join to the domain at this point in time but it will be
for deploying the image.
Have we got our image strategy wrong? does the same rule apply about sysprep running more than 3 times on a single machine if it is captured and redeployed after a sucessfully sysprep to the same hardware or even different hardware.Hi,
One of the things Sysprep/WAIK do is disable the adminsitrator account.
You mentioned that you are setting the autologing to the administrator account and that you are setting it with a blank password, you can add a simple command in to sysprep's xml to reenable the account:

Give it a try and let us know .

robcobbHi there @robcobb
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel.
Since you already tried to do a factory restore, I assume that you had already tried to backup any data on that driver first. So I offer the following, on the recovery process. Check through both pages, to verify what you were doing and also to see if the troubleshooting portion is of use with what is happening on your machine.
Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8)
Troubleshooting HP System Recovery Problems (Windows 8)
From what you wrote, I gather that the BIOS did not even start to update. This may have been due to how the USB key was setup. Your system should be UEFI, and be bootable your usb key would have to be prepared as well as a UEFI bootable device.
Anyway if the recovery process still does not work for you, then please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.

Administrator account disabled - XP - 10.3 - DLU
Anyone else seeing this?
Using basic DLU, manage existing accounts, user gets created as a "normal" user in the "users" group. This is in a NON-DOMAIN environment.
After logging in as the normal user, and logging out, try to do a workstation only and login as administrator, says the account has been disabled.I've never seen DLU do this.
However, I have seen customers mistakenly believe DLU caused it.
The customers in fact also had a GPO in place with the "Security
settings" portion enabled.
By Default, the option to disable the administrator account is enabled
by default in this policy. Once the GPO setting was corrected, the
issue went away.

Seems I have a iCloud account on my iPad but not sure how I got it as I do not remember signing up for this feature. I got an e mail message saying I was running out for space on my iCloud and was given directions on how to find it on my iPad. I followed the directions but there was no iClound anywhere in my iPad settings.
Any help in figuring this out would be appreciated. If your iPad is running iOS 5 or higher, iCloud would be listed in Settings. If you are signed into an iCloud account your iCloud ID would be listed in Settings>iCloud.

I have set up an administrator account and loaded microsoft office mac 2011. i have now added three kids accounts but can't seem to enable them to access the office mac software...... help please.
Where did you install Office?
If you installed it to the Applications folder in the admin account that ie reason why only you can access it.
If you want everyone to be able to access it then you should install it in the Applications folder at root level.

Most likely this email address has been attempted to be setup as an Apple ID at some point. You can reset your Apple ID password via the steps in the first article below. If you do not have access to the email account, need assistance or are not receiving the password reset link, see the second article.

In Itunes i'm unable to update my credit card info. It won't take the security code, but it did before. It also isn't accepting cards at this time.
the security code error is actually generic and just means the card is being rejected, double check your billing info to make sure it matches the card exactly or contact the card issuer to make sure they arent blocking it because of a fraud filter or something similar

Alright, a day or two ago I started encountering something very strange in my iTunes library. About 6 years ago I made the jump from Windows to a Mac. Naturally, I brought my media library with me. I've had the same computer all these years, and a little over a year ago, migrated my iTunes library to a 1tb external drive. Since then, I went back to my CDs and re-encoded most of my music at a higher bitrate than what I kept it at on my Windows machine. Some of the music I didn't or couldn't re-encode. Same went with a few of my movies. Now, a few days ago, some of this low bit rate Windows encoded material has suddenly become corrupt for no reason that I can see. It appears normally in my library, but without any artwork. When I try to play it, it immediately plays the first song in my iTunes library. Trying to play the same file in other programs (Quicktime, VLC, Finder's preview, etc.) gives various error messages, all basically saying the file can't be read. More and more of the files I carried over from Windows come up with this problem every day. It's not a staggering majority of my library, but some of the stuff will be difficult to replace for various reasons. The only change I've made to my computer set up recently was adding an Apple TV onto my ethernet network.
Basically, my question is, is this any kind of a known issue, or is my disk going bad, and strangely the files that are going corrupt first are the ones I carried over from Windows? Should I be worried about my recently added files?
Any and all help is greatly appreciated. The drive reports no errors of any kind. I also doubt this because, exactly like I said, it's only files carried over from Windows that are doing it.
