Adobe Captivate has stopped working -- BEX64 error

After completely maxing out my hard drive (ouch!) while running Adobe Captivate 7, I am no longer able to launch Captivate. I receive the following error message:
Adobe Captivate has stopped working.

I've seen a few threads on this Problem Event Name, but the fixes don't appear to work in this case. Perhaps because of what triggered this error?

Contacted Adobe Support. This was an easy fix for Mayank.
He navigated to Users\Venderley\AppData\Local\Adobe. There he found the Captivate 7.0 folder and renamed it "Captivate 7.0_old"
Did the same Users\Venderley\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Captivate 7.0.
Then ran Captivate on my laptop as an administrator.
Captivate reset all my preferences, and now launches.
Hope the this helps anyone else who comes up with a similar issue.

  • Adobe Captivate 6 - Closes saying Adobe captivate has stopped working

    Hi Team,
I have a company procured Adobe Captivate 6. Till today morning it was working fine. Suddenly it threw and Error 16 - uninstall and reinstall product.
I checked the forum and found one link http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/configuration-error-cs5.html
I followed the same steps but now when I click on Captivate it says Adobe captivate has stopped working and it closes.
I need to use Captivate to do a lot of Rich Media deliverables which are getting delayed. Can anyone please help me resolve this issue?
    Thanks
    Varun

    Hi,
Can you try recreating the Preferences of Captivate 6, then launch Captivate 6.
    Close Adobe Captivate.
    Locate the preference folder:
Windows Vista and Windows 7: C:\Users\[user name]\AppData (Hidden Folder) \Local\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 6 folder
    Windows XP:  C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 6 folder
    Mac:  /Users/[user name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Captivate 6 folder
Rename the preference folder (rename Adobe Captivate 6 to anything).
Restart Adobe Captivate. A new configuration folder is automatically created.
If it is Windows 7, then try running Adobe Captivate 6 as administrator (Right Click on Adobe Captivate 6 icon, then run as admin).
Please check whether this fixes it?
    Thanks.

  • "Adobe Captivate has stopped working"

In April I download, paid and installed Captivate 3. The next
five month I used Captivate, and most function worked as expected.
The last month I have not used Captivate.
Today I needed to do some work for a client - and suddenly
Captivate is unable to start. I just get the message: "Adobe
Captivate has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop
working correctly. (...)". No splash screen.
OBS: This is NOT the "Licensing for this product has stopped
    working" case.
    I have tried
    * to re-downoad and repair the installation
    * to go through all services and check that all relevant
    services are running.
    * following the instructions found in
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb401528
    * searched for more solutions
The only changes in my PC's configuration are the Windows
automatic updates - and possibly a Flash update.
Working environment: Vista Business english w. all updates
    incl. SP1 on a Dell Precision M90.
    A solution is urgently needed!
In the meantime I have to use Camtasia Studio!

It may or may not have anything to do with your problem , but
make sure that your user access control in Vista is disabled. I
can't remember what the exact message was when I had a similar
issue, but a clue would be a little vista shield on your shortcut.
There is a thread that suggests going into the program file and
starting from there, which worked until I figured out the UAC had
been changed by my security program. I tried all of the things that
you tried to no avail. There is a related thread somewhere in the
forum that put me on the track for my issue. Hope your fix is that
    easy...

  • Using Adobe Captivate 7 and keep getting Adobe Captivate has stopped working...

I am new to Using Adobe Captivate 7 and keep getting Adobe Captivate has stopped working on Slide 7.  What can I try?

Will you be delivering this content from an LMS?  If so, then the LMS should handle the menu.  Break your project into separate modules and use the Multi-SCORM Packager to create a bundled set.
If you are not using an LMS, but ARE serving content from a web server, then YES you could create a menu module that you use to launch the other modules.
If you are intending to serve this content from a LAN or CD ROM, then you could create a normal HTML web page with hyperlinks to launch individual modules.

  • Adobe Acrobat XI Pro causes an error when starting it - Adobe Acrobat has stopped working. How do I resolve this?

I've had Adobe Acrobat XI Pro for some time, but yesterday it stopped working and I started having an 'Adobe Acrobat has stopped working' error. It then tells me to Close the Program.
    How do I resolve this?
    Thanks and regards
    Roxanne

Thanks Pat. I was able to resolve the problem.
OS is Windows 7 Pro, Adobe Acrobat Pro 11.0.07.
I went into the Properties file where I identified that Users only had Read & Execute and Read properties, I changed properties for Everyone to Full Control. That fixed the problem.
I don't know how the properties got changed to just Read & Execute, but there had been an automatic update the night before.
    Regards

  • I am having a problem opening pdf document.  I get error message: "Adobe Reader has stopped working"

I am having a problem opening pdf document.  I get error message: "Adobe Reader has stopped working" then I get Windows is looking on line for a solution, but then my document closes. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe Reader XI, rebooted my computer but this did not help.  I get the same message. What to do?

Can you open Reader by itself?  If so, check if disabling Protected Mode improves the situation [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].

  • I have a user getting an error Adobe Acrobat has stopped working  how do I resolve this?

    Adobe Acrobat XI Pro
This happens at a variety of times.  Sometimes while scanning sometimes while bookmarking sometimes while adding pages from a file.
What I have done is made sure the program was up to date, a repair install, updated scanner drivers, replace the scanner with a different model, made sure the workstation was current with MS patches.  Any suggestions would be most welcome.
    Thank you,
    Brad

Thanks for the reply.  Sorry I wasn't clear the version is XI standard.  And I did check for updates.  The program is current.  Still a few times a day the program will crash and my user will have to start over again on the document she is working on.  Very frustrating for her and me.
    The full error is:
    Adobe Acrobat has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

  • Adobe reader has stopped working error message after installing reader XI on windows 7

Adobe reader has stopped working error message when loading reader after installing reader XI on windows 7.
    Does anybody know why ?

    Dear Pat,
    Thank you for your reply.
It is Ver. 11.0.06 for Acrobat XI
No, I can't open the Reader at all.  The error message box popped up immediately when I run the Reader

  • Adobe Acrobat X Pro - Error Message : "Adobe Acrobat Has Stopped Working"

    I use Windows 7 - 64bit / CS6 Master Collection that has Adobe Acrobat x Pro.
When the computer is on for a little while, Acrobat would generate the error message that it has stopped working and then shuts down. Once that error message occurs, I cannot get Acrobat to stay open. It opens the PDF document, stays open for a few seconds then the error message occurs and it shuts down.
What helps for a short term is to restart the computer. This seems to temporarily remove the error until the computer is on for a while then the error returns.
This problem repeats. Product repair feature does not work. This has nothing to do with the license, I tried that fix and it made no differnce. I do not have this issue with other Adobe products included in the master collection.
It seems fruitless and frustrating to send a message to Adobe Support, the run around with pages and links is like smacking walls on every turn, it is obvious Adobe does not want people contacting their support. Service from Adobe for their products is poor.
I hope that someone here has the answer to the problem. Anyone?

    Ok, here is the update.
The link: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/acrobat-failed-launch-30-days.html , leads to a webpage that says to download a fix ZIP file named: "Acrofix.ZIP". It contains the file "acrofix.exe".
I did use this "exe" file about 2 months ago and it did nothing to fix the issue. I used it again today, because the same issue of "Adobe Acorbat has stopped working", occurred again and again it did not work, the problem of "Adobe Acrobat stopped working" presists. Again the only work around, which is temporary, is to reboot the computer.
So far these do not work:
    Relicensing or Registering the Licence
    Acrofix.exe
Anyone else have an answer? - or am I the only one suffering this really annoying issue?

  • I have Acrobat 9.5 and when I try to create pdf from scanner, it displays an error "Adobe acrobat has stopped working". Is there any way I can use this functionality?

I have Acrobat 9.5 and when I try to create>pdf from scanner, it displays an error "Adobe acrobat has stopped working". Is there any way I can use this functionality?

Provide you have Acrobat 9 installed in an OS for which Acrobat 9 is compatible then you can use the functionality.
As well, you need a scanner connected, powered up, and the software installed. Acrobat 9 "prefers" TWAIN drivers.
Always visit the scanner vendor's site and download - install the latest greatest software.
n.b., The Acrobat 9.x product family passed into "End of Support" mid-year 2013.
As well the Acrobat 9.x product family is not compatible with contemporary OSs.
    Be well...

  • 'Adobe Reader has stopped working' error message

I've recently updated from Adobe Reader X to Adobe Reader XI using Adobe Cleaner and installer from the website. Whenever I open a pdf file or start the Reader the following error occurs and closes the program: 'Adobe Reader has stopped working'. This message would never occur when I had version X. Moreover, it doesn't occur in any other program I use so far. I've disabled Protected Mode and run Eula.exe, but that didn't help. Here are some details from the event log

  • Error message Adobe InDesign has stopped working as soon as I open the application

I had a computer crash on Friday and I just reinstalled InDesign this weekend and it has worked fine. This afternoon I started to receive an error message that Adobe InDesign has stopped working and Windows will close the program and notify me if a solution is available. I've rebooted and closed every other program. I have also been downloading my lost files from Carbonite since yesterday and have paused the download. Do I need to uninstall the program and reinstall?

Use System Restore to go back before the crash.

Can't open PDFs, Initially received runtime error, updated Reader - new error Adobe Reader has stopped working, uninstalled re-installed same error message Adobe Reader has stopped working

Assuming that you are in Win (which you haven't said), you can try using this tool to first remove all traces of previous versions of Reader:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, download the full offline Reader installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
and run it immediately after restarting your computer.
