Adobe Drive 2.0 Administrator's Guide

Where is possible to find the Adobe
Drive 2.0 Administrator’s Guide? I have found only the user Guides.

If you still haven't found the guide, here is the one I came across: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs/drive/drive2_docs_adminguide_081010.pdf

  • Guide to connect Adobe drive with Alfresco CE

    Hallo everybody!
Since adobe remove version cue, i search for a replacement. Can somebody please write a short  guide how to configurate Alfresco CE to optimal work with adobe drive? Its drive me creasy, bljad! I think, i am not alone with this problem. Feel free to write here everethink, you found about it. Together we find a solution, i think.
The interest were (after connect Adobe drive to Alfresco CE):
    - how configurate the space, where Alfresco CE saving the files ?
    - how to set permissions to Alfresco CE drive to chek in the files from adobe programms?
    - in bridge i cannot see the thumbnails of files (only the standart thumbs, maby it has something to do with the permission rights?)
    - how can thomebody else from anywhere connect to Alfresco Cmis that is locally on my pc, like earler in versioncue, to callobarate)
Thanks to everybody for suggestions and help!
    Adobe drive 2.1
    Alfresco CE 3.4

    Hi Borisbritva,
To work with Adobe Drive, you just need to install and launch Alfresco CE server. No special configuration.
Section 'Using the CMIS Connector' in CMIS CONNECTOR FOR ADOBE DRIVE 2.1: TECHNICAL NOTE doc shows the detailed steps on how to connect Alfresco server with Adobe Drive 2.1.  Below is the link for the tech note:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/creativesuite/cs/adobedrive/CMIS_Connector_Tech_Note.pdf
For "how configurate the space, where Alfresco CE saving the files ?" & "how to set permissions to Alfresco CE drive to chek in the files from adobe programms?", I think you need to read Alfresco Document ( http://www.alfresco.com/resources/documentation/ ). For simply try, use admin account to connect Alfresco Server with Adobe Drive. CMIS CONNECTOR FOR ADOBE DRIVE 2.1: TECHNICAL NOTE doc gives the detail info about how to browse, check in, and check out files.
For "in bridge i cannot see the thumbnails of files (only the standart thumbs, maby it has something to do with the permission rights?)",  Adobe Drive 2.1 with CMIS connector doesn't support it. But Adobe Drive has exposed API to retrieve thumbnails of files. If you have interest, you can download Adobe Drive SDK ( http://www.adobe.com/devnet/adobedrive/eula_21.html ) and try it.
For "how can thomebody else from anywhere connect to Alfresco Cmis that is locally on my pc, like earler in versioncue, to callobarate)", Adobe Drive 2.1 with CMIS connector support it. Just replace 'localhost' with you external IP address in Server URL when connect to Alfresco server.
    Thanks,
    Hui

  • Editing and sharing custom metadata/keywords through Adobe Drive in Adobe Bridge

I am part of a four-person video production unit operating within a local governmental entity. We are currently using four licenses of Adobe Master Collection CS5, and are about to get access to dedicated SAN storage.
We would like each user to have the ability to assign specific keywords to any given video clip (or remove keywords from clips) within Adobe Bridge, and have the three other users see the same results. I've noticed that Bridge alone will allow for keywords to be added or removed, but this list is specific to each user. Importing one list into other users' profiles is a start, but would no longer work, once keywords are added or taken away.
The overview page for Adobe Drive 3 says that it, "allows users to edit and view custom metadata/properties through Adobe Drive in Adobe Bridge," but I haven't found any explanation in either the website, forums, or user's guides that delves any farther into this area. If we incorporate Adobe Drive/Bridge into our workflow, will we be able to share/sync keywords between users? Is there some other (affordable) solution that would let us do this?
Thanks for any insight you might be able to offer.
    Chuck

    Hi,
    Thanks for sharing your case.
The keywords you mentioned is XMP metadata, if all your digital assets are managed by ADEP CQ DAM service, you can use AD3 with built-in ADEP connector to communicate with the DAM server, then, I think it can meet your requirement, it means, the keywords can be set by one user through metadata panel in Bridge, and can be viewed by other users.
for custom properites, it's different from XMP metadata, it refers to the properties of one asset which is managed by a Content Management service. users have to use another UI to edit/view them in Br after AD3 is installed.
here are some requirements to use it.
    1) CMIS 1.0 compiliant server should be used to manage all your digital assets
    2) use the built-in CMIS with AD3 to connect to the server.
if other kind of servers are used, you should develope a custom connector through AD SDK to enable custom properties feature as well as some other handler required by AD SDK
    thanks

  • Viewing XMP Metadata in Adobe Bridge via Adobe Drive Connector

    Hi there,
I've been trying to view remote file XMP metadata in Adobe bridge via our adobe drive connector. I've added the READ_XMP_METADATA capablitiy, and I've seen the DataType.XMP has been requested. but I'm not sure how to display the metadata on the Adobe bridge metadata panel. since the metadata is embeded in the file, when i browse the file in local drive, the metadata shows fine, but when it's on our remote server, some how bridge doesn't extract the info and display it. I can see the metadata when I browse the remote file in windows explorer adobe drive. and we do download the file to local to a temp copy, browse the temp copy in bridge also showing the metadata, The only thing not working is browsing the remote file in bridge via adobe drive connector.
Please advise what should be done, in the programmer's guide, it says for each item, request that the server return the XMP data for that asset. How should I do that? If the XMP is embeded in the file, why would I need to request for it, would it be automatically extracted from the file?
    Thanks,
    Katherine

  • Adobe Drive not connecting to hello world sample launched via Eclipse

I'm trying to get the hello world sample running with Drive SDK 5. I got:

Afterwards, I start Adobe Drive (32bit version). The UI hangs with the message "Adobe Drive is starting. Please wait.". From task manager I can see that not just Adobe Drive was started, but also AD4ServiceManager.exe. I guess, this should not happen, because Adobe Drive should discover the one launched via Eclipse.
So what's going wrong here? How does Adobe Drive discover the one launched via Eclipse? What could block discovery?
Here more details in case that helps debugging the problem. MANIFEST.MF:

Here the Eclipse run configuration settings:

Wow, this seems to help even though it is still a bit shaky. Here the steps I have to do to get it working:
manually launch 64bit version of AD4ServiceManager.exe with parameter -launchedbydrive
launch Eclipse project and wait till ss shows everything as registered (much faster now)
start 64bit version of Drive -> my adapter doesn't show up
    shutdown drive
start 64bit version of Drive again -> my adapter now shows up and works as expected
I find a few things confusing here:
In Eclipse, should I configure the 32bit or 64bit version of AD4ServiceManager as plugin execution environment? Currently, I'm using the 32bit version.
Why isn't the step of manually launching AD4ServiceManager.exe not mentioned in the getting started guide?
I will reboot my machine to see if it is still working or just some special sun radiation making it work currently :-)

  • Adobe Drive user vs Adobe Suite User

    Hi all,
I am testing Adobe Drive 3 with IBM FileNet P8 5.0 through CMIS connector on CS5.5 suite product and I encountered the following problem:
While I can successfully checkin the first version of the file from Indesign or photoshop but after that if I try to make modifications it pops up a dialog box saying that <the file is checked out by the user "Administrator". If you continue editing you may risk conflicts>
The User "Administrator" is a domain user and it is the same user which Adobe Drive's CMIS connection configured to connect with, and the same user I am logged in with to the local machine to run Photoshop or indesign. But basically it is considering them different users.
So can you please help me solve this issue?
I am on windows environment (XP PRO)
    Thanks
    Alex

    Hi Alex,
We try this using FileNet P8 5.1.0 on Win XP, we could not reproduce you issue.
Could you try it with another user? That warning message means that the document is current check out by "Administrator", not check out by the user you used to login.
    Thanks

  • Adobe Drive 3 crashed my InDesign/InCopy CS4 on Mac

    Hi all,
Word of warning: recently my CS4 installs of InDesign and InCopy stopped working - crash on startup. The crash report indicated something wrong in a required plug-in AWS/AWSUI. After some digging, I found that this plug-in seems to do things related to Version Cue and Adobe Drive - and the light bulb went on: I had installed Adobe Drive 3 a few days before.
Uninstalling Adobe Drive 3 revived my CS4 apps.
Posting my findings here to help other hapless souls that fall into the same trap...
    Cheers,
    Kris

Clean installation of Adobe InDesign is required here or try creating a new administrator user account and then launch Adobe InDesign and see if it eradicates the crash. See this link for creating a new user account on Mac. http://support.apple.com/kb/ph6651. The new user account type should be Administrator.

  • Adobe Drive 4.00

Just installed Adobe Drive 4.00 for my Master Collection Version 4.0. Now I can't find anything anymore and of course have no clue how to find my old projects that I had on Adobe Drive that came with the Master Collection 4.0. Quiet frankly, that stinks!!!

If you installed Adobe Drive 4 from this location: http://www.adobe.com/products/adobedrive.html ... this version of Adobe Drive is designed to work with Adobe Creative Suite 6 applications.
Were you previously using Version Cue? If so, Version Cue was discontinued when Creative Suite 5 was released. Adobe Drive 2.1 is the last release of Adobe Drive that supports working with Version Cue (Adobe Drive 2.1 is available via the downloads section on Adobe.com). We suggest that customers in this situation (still using Version Cue in their workflow) identify an asset management system to work with going forward; either from Adobe or a number of outside vendors. If you need to migrate your data from Version Cue to a new DAM server, we have an Adobe Drive Migration Tool available for download on Adobe.com (you need to install Adobe Drive 3.2 in order to install the tool – also available from the link above). Here is a link to the associated user guide where you can learn more: http://www.adobe.com/support/adobedrive/pdfs/migration-guide.pdf
    Hope this helps!

  • Photoshop CS6 not allowing Check In with Adobe Drive 4.2 & AEM 5.6 DAM

I have just started to set up a AEM DAM for my design team to utilize. While it worked exactly as expected on one team member's computer, I am having some problems. I can only check items in or out through Bridge CS6. With both PS and Illustrator the "Check In" menu item is greyed out. Also, when I open a file in PS from the DAM, it doesn't automatically check the item. I've seen it work fine on a cowokers computer with a seemly similar setup. Any ideas?
    Mac 10.7.5
    PS CS6
    Bridge CS6
    Adobe Drive 4.2
CQ 5.5 and AEM 5.6 (same thing on both)
    Thanks in advance!

In order for the Check In menu item to appear in the supported CS apps., the asset must be opened and a change must be made (it will then automatically be checked out).

  • AAMEE 3.1 deploying Adobe Drive 5

    Hello
The documentation for Adobe Drive 5.0 says to use AAMEE 3.1 for deployment however when i try i get a valid installer could not be found.
I have the Adobe Drive 5.0 dmg mounted.
This worked fine for Adobe Drive 4
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

This doesn't work on OSX 10.7 10.8 and 10.9 for Adobe Drive 5 using aamee 3.1. I also get the message a valid installer could not be found. It worked fine on my Windows 7x64 machine.
    Was your issue resolved markc0?
I just noticed that when i run the Adobe Drive 5 installer it wants to install adobe drive at the following location
    /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Drive 4
So i looked at the AdobeDrive5-mul.install.xml contents
    <Deployment>
      <Properties>
<!--Note that the INSTALLDIR value is machine specific.  The value below is a suggested default value but may need to be overriden.-->
        <Property name="INSTALLDIR">/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Drive 4</Property>
        <Property name="installLanguage">cs_CZ</Property>
<!--The set of valid languages includes:
    cs_CZ
    da_DK
It installs just fine when running outside AAMEE and i don't think the install location matters but just wanted to point it out as this is the only discrepancy i could find.

  • Is Adobe Drive being retired & replaced?

We are working through an implementation of AEM Assets in a cloud-based environment with Adobe managed services (Amazon hosting).  Our Adobe implementation team is having problems getting Adobe Drive to work in the hosted model.  They recently told us that Adobe Drive is going to be retired and replaced with a Companion app.
Is anybody else successfully using Adobe Drive in the Amazon hosted model?
Is anybody else using Companion?  How does it compare feature-wise?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hey Scott,
Formstack is one of the alternative options that Adobe suggests using. We do have a form importer that allows you to instantly build a form from any form URL out there. https://www.formstack.com/features/form-importer This will save you tons of time re-building forms in a new platform.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can't Print from Freehand via Adobe Driver

For no obvious reason I can no longer print from Freehand to pdf using the Adobe driver.
I'm using Freehand 11.0.1 on Windows 7 (64-bit).  Our team has the same problem on Windows XP with Freehand 11.0.1, and Windows 7 (32-bit) with Freehand 11.0.2.  All of the above stopped working this week.  We still can print to pdf using Cute PDF.  But we really would like to get back to using Adobe which gives us more control over the output generated.
Here is the content of Adobe log file:
---------- start of log file ----------------
    %%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
%%[ Error: syntaxerror; OffendingCommand: --nostringval-- ]%%
    Stack:
    {AVec 256 array copy /f1 /|______Gen_Arial dup RF findfont def f1
    DoPatch}
    false
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
----------- end of log file ----------------
The problem does not occur using the same Adobe print driver with MS Word, PowerPoint, or Adobe Illustrator CS6.
Has anyone else seen this or have a clue how to resolve it?
Any help is very much appreciated!!!!!
    Thanks!
    John

Did you update your Acrobat/Distiller application before it stopped working? My first thought was that something was changed last week to have this happen and to go back and recreate what that might have been. Sounds like an Adobe update.

  • How to find mounted path of Adobe Drive?

    Hello,
I want to find out mounted path(on mac) of Adobe Drive 4 on client machine from inside of my plugin code and want to write it to some properties file. I am not able to find any API to do this.
Can someone please help? Its urgent....
    Thanks.

    On Mac it's under "/Volumes/my_dam_server_name"

  • Under Windows 8.1, Adobe Drive crashes on File- Check In... when invoked from an Adobe creative application.

I am testing my drive connector on Windows 8.1 (64-bit) using Adobe Drive (5.0.2) with Photoshop CC (15.1.0.148) and Bridge CC (6.1.0.116), and I find that if I use File->Check In... from the creative apps (I checked InDesign too), the application crashes inside of AdobeDriveUI.dll.  The crash happens as it attempts to display the dialog that solicits a Check In comment.
I have tried using both the 32-bit and the 64-bit version of Adobe Drive, but both exhibit the same issue.  I am quite certain that my connector is not involved, as the crash happens in native code that collects the version comment *before* my ICheckInHandler instance gets called.
I am interested in any insight or work-arounds that might exist.  Thanks for any help!

    Thank you for the Replay,
I performed steps provided by you , but it did not help.
on other hand, i have collected some more data regarding
    this issue.
    1. went to SAFE Mode and tried to run the application from USB
    2. got Exception "The instruction at 0x00407038 referenced memory at 0x00000078. The memory could not be read"
some more info on setup :
we have a micro controller on board, some part of memory (present on board) is used to keep application and server. we can open this memory via USB connection to PC. then we can see all files present at this memory on PC (behaves like externally connected
    USB Drive) .
When we start this application . it will start the server . server will send 'request file' to controller soft. (this part is working fine), and controller will send back response , as soon as response file(RSP.txt) will appear in USB drive it will get corrupted
.(here RSP.txt file is present in controller USB decided memory but to open this we are using PC RAM). crashing of RSP.txt file will crash whole application. This RSP File is of FAT Type.
i have copied application in another external drive and tried to RUN application. it will not crash  . but USB can not receive the "RSP.txt" (as it is not in communication with controller soft). and problem is in response file.

How do i stop photoshop cs4 from quitting unexpectedly when saving a photoshop pdf? i attempted to download the adobe drive 5 but the installation keeps failing. I went through the process of clicking through the how to's and the troubleshooting and came to the conclusion that I need to install the adobe drive 5 but I can not complete the installation. I may be incorrect on this so I need immediate assistance as I have poster and ad deadlines. I also tried disabling the gatekeeper and solution 3 on the troubleshooting of slow saving on photoshop.
    Any help is much appreciated!
    Thank you!

Are you attempting to save the file to a network location instead of your local hard drive? If so, this is probably why you are encountering an issue and why Adobe Drive would be the solution. As we've documented, it is a bad idea to open from or save directly to a network source: Networks, removable media | Photoshop | CS4 and later. Drive can help you get around this by setting up an Adobe supported virtual connection to the network. Thus, if installing Adobe Drive is the solution you need and your need help with installing Drive, please post to the Downloading, Installing, Setting Up forum.
If you are not saving to a network location, then Adobe Drive is not going to be the answer. Then we'll need to know more about the file you are saving.
