Adobe hack bigger than first admitted
So it seems that adobe lost 38 million user details, 10 times more than they first admitted to.
Thats the bad news.
The good news of course is the hackers got the code to photoshop. So hopefully it will find its way into a variety of other developers and into the general public ridding the world of adobes corporate greed with this faulty creative cloud scam they got running.
Here is one article about it:
http://www.nbcnews.com/technology/adobe-hacker-attack-much-bigger-previously-disclosed-8C1 1493155
My biggest concern is trusting Adobe with my credit card any more. My credit card company is sending me a new card and automatically cancelled my current one (Adobe contacted them). Now I have the pain of changing the card at a variety of places. How do I know that Adobe has figured out how they got hacked? Has the hole been plugged or will we be going through this all over again in a few months? The fact that they said one thing a few weeks ago and now this is "bigger" than they thought... makes me wonder if they really understand what happened and can keep my information safe in the future. I am very skeptical. I have been a big supporter of Adobe over the years and actually feel that CC isn't that bad of a deal (considering I use a Mac and a PC, the pricing is much better since I don't have to own two different licenses). However, this is really making me think hard about giving Adobe my CC any more in the future.

How do you increase the font size to bigger than 24, using the typewriter tool in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 for Mac? Often I just want to label an item on a map that is in PDF and want to use a simple label rather than a Text Box for labeling, but have yet to find a way to increase the font size beyond 24. Can someone help me with this? - JML

Text appearance in adobe acrobat (pro) files displays inconsistently unless you zoom in. Mainly 'i's and 'l's look bigger than they should.
The pdfs print fine though.Try doing a spotlight search for all files that start with AdobeFnt. They will be named AdobefntXX.lst, with the XX being some number. They will be scattered across the drive... After making sure that all Adobe applications are closed, trash all the adobefntxx.lst files, those with the 3 letter extension .lst.
Then, restart the system, and open the files in Acrobat again.
Otherwise, what happens in Safe boot? (Remember, Safe boot loads only a default set of fonts.) If they display fine there, the problem most likely is a font issue, one of the fonts that Adobe installed.
Check Adobe's web support page for troubleshooting Fonts.

Contact Adobe about the whole issue, it is after all, Adobe Acrobat... Adobe's contact number is 800 833 6687. -
What happens when an iPod is synchronized with an iTunes library that is bigger than the available space on the iPod? I did this some time ago. On screen was shown available space somewhat less than 120 GB, but maybe somewhere between 10 and 20 GB more in the library. I had to get the iPod updated anyway, so I did proceed. However, afterwards the total content of the library was only about 110 GB. Now I wonder what did actually happen. Was the first sign only corrected for double copies of the same files or lost files or where files deleted from iTunes? And if files where deleted from iTunes, were they also deleted from my computer?
Same as you would if you bought a pc; copy everything from your old computer to your new one. Then you can just sync everything from the new computer, as you did with the old one.

Need a external HD 40% bigger than internal for Time Machine backups??
I've heard that using Time Machine as my backup program I need a hard drive that's about 40% bigger than the source (internal) hard drive I want to backup. Some in these forums have said I need a external HD 2x or 3x as big as the internal hard drive for Time Machine backups!
What's your general rule, and does Apple recommend a certain percentage increase of the target over the source hard drive? There is no set rule, except that the drive being used for Time Machine must be at least as large as the data (not drive) being backed up.
So if you have an internal 500GB drive, but you only have 300GB full, and with exclusions (things that you select NOT to back up), only 200GB needs to be backed up, then a 320GB external drive could do an adequate job (even though the internal drive is 500GB).
During the first backup, Time Machine will back up everything (that is everything you have set it to backup). So the external drive volume used for the backup must be at least the size of the data being backed up. After that, Time Machine creates an incremental backup states every hour, for things that changed during that hour. But because it is Time Machine and not just Backup Machine, the previous versions of the files that changed are also retained. Therefore, over time, the Time Machine backup archive will take up more and more space.
Once you run out of space, Time Machine will tell you and start deleting the oldest backup states to make room for the newest states. So if you have a really huge volume for your Time Machine backup, you can +go back in time+ further (probably back to the date you started using Time Machine) than if you have an adequate but smaller size drive for that purpose. -
Data size bigger than max size for this type
First, I'd like to thank you for release 1.2.1, it works like
a charm! Keep up the good work. Here are my questions:
1. When parsing a stored procedure, I get the message "Data
size bigger than max size for this type". Can you tell me what
causes this?
2. Is there any list of all the error messages that can be
given by Migration Workbench?
Thank You,
Shane Brubaker
nullShane,
With respect to your questions :
1. Could you possibly send [email protected] (that is
our helpdesk, a direct line into development) a little more
information about what you were doing. Also, if you could
send us the stored procedure in question (no data required)
then we could try to reproduce the error in-house and better
evaluate what is going on.
2. The majority of errors ORA-**** are actually generic
Oracle errors and can be found in the Server documentation.
As for our specific errors most parser messages can be
found in the appendix "Parser Reference" from the help system.
Regards,
Marie

Applying down payments bigger than invoice amount
Hi there!!
I want to control employee advances via the following procedure:
Create a Control account in Asset named Employee Advance account
Create BP group employee and create employee master in Business Partner master data as vendor, link the control account
Create a downpayment (advance) for the employee
Booking the invoices using the AP services
Applying the paymnet using the down payment (but when the advance is bigger than the invoice to pay, that it´s my case, ths system ask me to pay an amount) how could I avoid this?
How could I applied a bigger advance to an invoice, without book a payment?
best regards
PS Internal reconciliation doesn´t works because amounts doesn´t matchThanks Gordon/Jitin
So, I created a payment on account with the difference amount between the downpayment request and the invoice.
But when i use this last payment to pay another invoice with smaller amount, the difference went to the account configured in "Realized Exchange Diff" (G/L Account Determination).
So, i understand that payment on account can only be fully reconciled and can not create another payment on account, like the first case. ¿This is correct?

Why are the PDF files in v27 bigger than in v25?
I have just created a v27 version of my single iOS app, which has been v25 before. Now the app has a size of about 550 MB instead of about 430 MB. I found out that the PDF files of the slideshows are bigger than before. What is the reason for this change and is there a way to get smaller file sizes again?
Kind regards
Michael
No idea? At least someone of the staff should know why the DPS creates larger files now.
There is another issue which indicates that Adobe doesn't care about file sizes. In slideshows the DPS always uses PNG files (if you don't choose PDF files, which are larger now, as I have told you). Of course it is because of transparency, but it would be easy to let the user choose between PNG and JPG like Twixl does.
Message was edited by: Michael KokoschaYou should report this via Gold Support who will investigate this. Minor file size changes will always occure on releases, however since you report the size change is significant, there may be some issue and needs further testing.

Why Index size is bigger than table size?
Dear All,
I found in my database my tables sizes is coming around 30TB (All Tables in Database). and my index size for the same is 60TB. This is data ware housing environment.
How the index size and table size are differing?
Why they are differing? why index size is bigger than table size?
How to manage the size?
Please give me clear explanation and required information on the above.
Regards
SureshThere are many reasons why the total space allocated indexes could be larger than the total space allocated to tables. Sometimes it's a mark of good design, sometimes it indicates a problem. In your position your first move is to spend as little time as possible in deciding whether your high-level summary is indicative of a problem, so you need to look at a little more detail.
As someone else pointed out - are you looking at the sizes because you are running out of space, or because you have a perceived performance problem. If not, then your question is one of curiosity.
If it's about performance then you should be looking for code (either through statspack/AWR or sql_trace) that is performing badly and use the analysis of that code to help you identify suspect indexes.
If it's about space, then you need to do some simple investigations aimed at finding a few indexes that can be "shrunk" or dropped. Pointers for this are:
select
table_owner, table_name, count(*)
from
dba_indexes
group by
table_owner, table_name
having
count(*) > 2 -- adjust to keep the output short
order by
count(*) desc; This tells you which tables have the most indexes - check the sizes of the tables and indexes and then check the index definitions for the larger tables with lots of indexes.
Second quick check - join dba_tables to dba_indexes by table_name, and report the table blocks and index leaf blocks in desending order of leaf block count. Look for indexes which are very big, and also bigger than their underlying tables. There are special cases (and bugs) that can cause indexes to be much bigger than they need to be ... this report may identify a couple of anomalies that could benefit from an emergency fix followed (possibly) by a strategic fix.

Why is Photoshop crashing when I try to open any file bigger than 5mb?
I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure out why Photoshop crashes after I attempt to open any .psd file bigger than 5 mb. 1) You haven't installed the updates to Photoshop. The current version is 12.0.2.
2) You haven't installed the updates to the OS (specifically some that reduce how often you crash in the OS font code, like the crash you just posted). The current version is 10.6.6. -
Field of view: in the programme bigger than on the camera display
The following problem occured:
When I captured footage into Adobe Premiere Elements I recognized that the field of view in the programme was bigger than the one I saw on the display of my camera. I mean, there were objects in the left and in the right corner of the frame, which I did not intend to shoot (and which I did not see in the viewer, as well).
Are there any settings I should consider?
Any answers appreciated. This is fairly common. Few cameras have 100% view. Some show a bit more, but most a bit less.
Now, depending on how you are going to output the footage, it might be no problem. If you're going to TV, via DVD, then the overscan of CRT TV's will possibly crop this extra area off. If you are not sure, or your audience will have newer LED/LCD/etc. TV's, you can do one of several things.
1.) Keep things just as they are, and use the Garbage Matte to eliminate the offending objects. You'll end up with a bit of black, around your final image, unless you have some sort of background behind it.
2.) Keep things just as they are, and use Crop to do about the same. Same result as above.
3.) Use Motion Effect>Scale (and possibly a bit of Position), to enlarge the image to beyond the screen area, approximating what you saw in the viewfinder/LCD. Since you will only be doing a tiny bit of this, quality will not suffer.
Personally, I'd use #3. Trust me, this is far easier in video, than it ever was with film. Without a good budget, it meant a re-shoot, should a mic swing into the frame, or a lightstand peek in at the corner!
Good luck,

Why is my index bigger than my table ?
Hi
I am using locally managed tablespaces, with system allocation on 9.2.0.8
I have a table with some 32 columns and a 3 column index (unique key).
The 3 columns indexed are not null and all number(12) datatype.
The index is bigger than the table by a factor of almost 10.
I am not using compression of any kind.
Any ideas ?
CheersIf the table has insert or delete activity on it then the index is being maintained and it is this maintenance that can lead to an index growing larger than the base table when the length of the indexed columns are small compared to the row length.
If one of the 3 key columns is a sequence number or generally follows an ever increasing value pattern and the delete process does not delete all values within the leaf blocks then the index will have a tendency to grow large realtive to the table.
Worse is if any of the three key values are allowed to be updated after insertion. That then becomes a delete and insert into the index.
If the tablespace was originally a dictionary managed tablespace and was converted to locally managed auto-allocate via sys.dbms_space_admin.tablespace_migrate_to_local then the storage behavior is different from if the tablespace was created auto-allocate from day one.
Calculate the expected size of the index. Rebuild or re-create it as free space ditakes and then compare the resulting size to the expected size.

Hi, I am using HP11 and iPlanet web server. When trying to upload files over HTTP using FORM ENCTYPE="multipart/form-data" that are bigger than a few Kilobytes i get a 408 error. (client timeout). It is as if the server has decided that the client has timed out during the file upload. The default setting is 30 seconds for AcceptTimeout in the magnus.conf file. This should be ample to get the file across, even increasing this to 2 minutes just produces the same error after 2 minutes. Any help appreciated. Apologies if this is not the correct forum for this, I couldn't see one for iPlanet and Web, many thanks, Kieran.
Hi,
You didnt mention which version of IWS. follow these steps.
(1)Goto Web Server Administration Server, select the server you want to manage.
(2)Select Preference >> Perfomance Tuning.
(3)set HTTP Persistent Connection Timeout to your choice (eg 180 sec for three minutes)
(4) Apply changes and restart the server.
*Setting the timeout to a lower value, however, may prevent the transfer of large files as timeout does not refer to the time that the connection has been idle. For example, if you are using a 2400 baud modem, and the request timeout is set to 180 seconds, then the maximum file size that can be transferred before the connection is closed is 432000 bits (2400 multiplied by 180)

I just got a Macbook Pro for Christmas, replacing my old 2008 one. On my old one, I was able to screen grab (shift+command+F4) specific area sizes (like 500x500 area) and the picture it would export would also be 500x500. On this new Mac, the areas I screen grab are exported larger than they are when I take them. For instance, I'd take a screen grab of a 500x500 picture I drew, upload it to an image sharing website, and it would appear nearly double that size.
I've tried altering my display to see if that helps, but they always are bigger than what I grab.
Any help would be great. To anyone who may have this problem, I figured it out. Retina display makes it bigger than it actually is. To fix this, after each screenshot, open up the image in preview. There will be a little toolbox option, and within that a box with arrows in it. Set the dimensions to 50 rather than 100 and it should be good to go.
