Adobe not staying on default printer

I have my default printer in Windows set and when I got to a pdf file to print it keeps defaulting to a printer that is not set as my default printer.  In addition, when I try to select the default printer it automatically goes back to the other device.  Has anyone had this issue before??

Hi Yodalsy,
I will recommend you to follow the below steps :-
1 )  Uninstall Adobe Reader ,run the cleaning tool Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs
2 )  Restart your computer.
3 ) Re-install Adobe Reader Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Install for all versions
Let me know if the issue persist.

  • Can Reader pick up the Default Page Size of a printer that is not the Windows Default Printer?

    We have a web based application that generates PDF documents via Crystal Reports.
    We are using Adobe Reader 8
    The PDF pages are displayed within an Internet Explorer window where the the users then print the document.
    The application is designed so the user only gets one chance to print the document (ie they cant come back and change printer settings if they happen to print the document out incorrectly)
    The document needs to be printed on A3 paper, full duplex.
    We have a printer set-up decidated to the printing of the documents generated by this application.  The default page size of this printer is set of A3.
    If we set this dedicated printer as the Windows Default Printer we have no problems at all.  The default page size (A3) is picked up and the document is printed correctly.
    If any other printer is set as the Windows Default Printer (eg one that has a default page size of A4), the users must obviously select the correct printer from the Print Dialogue Box -however when the user selects the dedicated A3 printer, the page size remains as A4 (page size of the Windows Default Printer).  This means the user must remember to change the paper size to A3 each time.
    Out users find IT a struggle at the best of times - anything that makes the process simpler is very welcomed!
    Is there a way to ensure the default page size of the printer is respected when that printer is not the Windows Default Printer?
    Thanks!

    No.

  • When I open E12 to print, the printer settings do not reflect my default printer settings.

    When I open E12 to print, the printer settings do not reflect my default printer settings.  After I change the settings in E12 and print and close, when I reopen E12 the printer settings are back to what E12 originally decided they were.  What am I missing?

  • Excel 2010 not using the default print settings

    Currently got an issue with Excel 2010 not using the default print settings for a couple of users on our network,
    basically when pressing cntrl P or selecting the print option from the file menu the printer settings are different to the print settings selected in the devices and printers menu, we have checked the print drivers etc but this has still not resolved the
    issue, all other office programs are fine and also other users are reporting this issue more and more with different printers,
    tried restarting print spooler service and re-installing office but this has come to no avail,
    any ideas would be much appreciated!

    Hi,
    This issue occurs because the Page Setup settings that you specify in your file override the settings that you specify in the printer driver properties.
    To work around this issue, do not specify the paper size, page orientation, or page margins in the printer driver properties. Instead, specify these settings in your workbook.
    To specify these settings, follow these steps:
    1.Start Excel, and then open the workbook you want to change.
    2.In Microsoft Office Excel 2010, click the sheet that you want to print, and then click the Page Layout tab. In the Page Setup group, click Page Setup to open the Page Setup dialog box.
    3.Click the Page tab.
    4.Under Paper size, click the paper size that you want.
    5. Click Options button and in Printing Shortcuts tab, in the Paper source area, perform one of the following steps:  ◦If the printer can automatically select the correct paper tray to use, click Default tray in the First page list, and then click Default
    tray in the Other pages list.
    Default tray is the default setting in both of these lists.
    ◦If the printer cannot automatically select the correct paper tray to use, you may have to select the paper tray that contains the paper size that you selected in step 4.
    To do this, click the appropriate paper tray in the First page list and in the Other pages list.
    6.If you want to change the page orientation or its page margins, click the Finishing tab.
    7.Select the options that you want.
    8.Click OK.
    9.Repeat steps 2 to 8 for each sheet of your workbook for which you want to specify settings.

  • Can I set Adobe to be my default printer

    I am on OS Lion and am trying to make Adobe X my default printer as I can in windows, but with no luck. Any ideas?

    j,
    In the Finder, single-click on any text file, then type command-I (Get Info). You'll see an Open With... menu item. Select Pages from the list (if it's not in the list, navigate to it). Finally, click the Change All button. Use the same process for .doc files. Now, if you double-click on any of these files, it should open in Pages.

  • Adobe Reader changes Windows default printer?

    Hello.
    Currently our customers are complaning about the anomaly, that the default printer is sometimes changed after printing *.pdf's with Adobe Reader. I have never heard of a problem like this before and am even not able, to confirm this behaviour.
    That is why I want to ask you, if you have ever heared of something similar like this. Under which circumstances does Adobe Reader print on another non-default printer automatically? Btw. I don't know how to handle this problem so far.
    Yours,
    Moeki.

    Interesting! What was the color scheme prior to launch? Does this problem happen on every launch of Reader X? What if you restore the color scheme and re-launch Reader? If possible can you stick a screenshot of the issue you just described.

  • Pages does not select the default printer.

    I have an IMac, 2.8 GHz, running version 10.6.5 connected to a Canon MX860. Under Print & Fax preferences, I list two printers. The first is Canon MX860 USB and the second is Canon MX860 Wireless. The default is set for the wireless. On all applications except "Pages", the default printer is the one selected. But, PAGES always selects the USB one. Is this a bug in PAGES, or is there something I can do?

    Yvan, not wishing to incur your ire... I have a similar problem and went through pages of discussions generated by the search function. I cannot find a thread matched with exactly with what I believe to be the issue here. My default print setting is wireless and all apps respect that including Pages (Version 09) generic templates. However, when I print from a Pages template that I created, it always defaults to the USB connection of my printer - and I do not leave the USB cable plugged in. I have tried to modify the template by opening it, File, Page Setup, Attributes, Format for wireless printer - save template.... Yet it still defaults to the unconnected USB version of my printer. Even doing page set up and then trying to print immediately, it defaults to the USB version. My printer is HP Photosmart C4585.
    Yvan if you know of the right thread, apologies but could you point me to it please?
    Many thanks for your patience

    Hi @darshan9 ,
    I see that you are experiencing issues setting the default printer for users and you are unable to print over the network.
    I would be happy to help you.
    Do you mean individual computers setup with the printer over the network users or one computer with multiple users?
    Do you have Admin Rights on the computer to make changes?
    What is the full name and product number of your printer? How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
    Download and run the Print and Scan Doctor. It will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it. http://www.hp.com/go/tools>Using HP Diagnostic Tools for HP Printers in Windows.
    I would suggest you to check if you have a different user account or from an administration account.
    I would also suggest you to create a new user account and check if you are able to set the printer as default.
    Create a user account. Create a user account.
    If you are still having issues run the Fixit Tool. Diagnose and fix printer and printing problems automatically.
    What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (did it print or scan, any error messages)
    If there is anything else I can help you with, just let me know.
    Have a nice day!

  • Mail will not stay as default email reader

    I have the mysterious problem facing a computer newly installed MacBook Air 2012 with 10.8.2. It has Parallels, MS Office 2011, but no MS Mail Application.
    I have another account on this computer that is not affected by this issue.
    The issue is that the default email reader is set to "Narrator".  When I change it to Mail 6.2, the setting takes until I close Mail. When I reopen Mail, Narrator shows again as the default reader.  When I click on a mail link in Safari, Mail opens.
    There is no evident preference or preference pane file for Mail in the Library.  I was looking to compare the preference file with one of a computer I setup in parallel.
    How do I find the preference plist file for Mail?
    I setup all my accounts through "Mail, Contacts, and Calendar" so I think Apple is storing this configuration information elsewhere.

    Never mind. It went away aftrer reboot.
    Still don't know where the plist is for Mail though.

  • Cropped photos did not stayed cropped for printing shop??

    Ok, I spent a lot of time cropping and getting my photos ready for the printer. Saved the photos and copied them to a cd. Took cd to the photo printer and the photos printed as the originals. Put the cd in my other MAC to see what was up and the photos on the CD are the cropped version. Printer doesn't know how or why nor do I. Any suggestions?

    Thomas,
    How did you copy those photos? If you burn a CD from within iPhoto, using the Share > Burn command, then the CD contains a mini iPhoto Library. This library has all files needed to recreate your library: originals, edits, thumbnails, database files. It's great for restoring an iPhoto library, but it confuses printers and anyone not using iPhoto.
    The way to create a CD for a printer or non-iPhoto use is to select the photos and do File > Export > File Export to a folder on your Desktop. iPhoto will export the full-sized, edited (if there is one) version of each selected photo. Burn that folder to the CD. It has only the photo files, and nothing else to confuse the printer.
    Regards.

  • Change the default magnification in preferences to    fit width   does not stay as default

    How to make preferences keep "fit width" as the default magnification?

    Some documents include a setting that will override what you set as the default zoom, but you can override this document setting with the override zoom setting in the Accessibility preference section.

  • Default Printer problems in Adobe Reader

    Repost:
    I have over 50 users with Adobe Reader 9.3.3 installed.  Every morning someone calls and says Adobe Reader reported that there are no printers installed on their system.  When I check their PC I find that the default printer setting has been removed and there is no default printer set.  Once reset they have no problems with the printers or their other applications.  This only happens when trying to print a PDF.
    Why is Adobe Reader removing the default printer setting?
    The driver has NOT been removed.  Just the default setting.
    In very PLAIN English the default printer check mark is GONE.

    This is a strange issue indeed.!!!
    Can you please let me know, whether the problem reproducible only after opening any specific file? It might be that the file is running a JavaScript on the system causing the default printer setting to be removed.
    To verify the same, you can try and disable JavaScript in Adobe Reader 9.3.3 on some of the client systems, and then observe whether the problem is reproducible on their systems as they go around their normal work. (To disable javscript, goto Edit > Preferences > JavaScript and uncheck Enable Acrobat JavaScript)
    If any client system tries to open a file which is trying to run a JavaScript code, they will get a Yellow message Bar on top of their page, asking for permissions to run JavaScript. This will give you an idea about the problematic file.
    Hope this helps you zero in on the issue..

  • Cannot change from default printer in Acrobat X by code

    pp.printerName = "\\\\print server\\printer"; works flawlessly in Acrobat 9 Standard but will not change from default printer in Acrobat X Standard unless run in the console. I've checked the printer names through the console and they are listed correctly. Javascript enable menu items is checked. I've even tried creating trusted functions (which still work flawlessly in Acrobat 9, but not in Acrobat X). All other printer settings in Acrobat X change as coded once the printer is changed manually.
    Any suggestions?

    function printFullPEng() {
    var pp = this.getPrintParams();
    var pSize = this.getPageBox("Crop");
    if (pSize[1] > "792") {pp.printerName = "\\\\print-server\\HP Designjet 4000 HPGL2/RTL (Copy 1)";}
    else {pp.printerName = "\\\\print-server\\TOSHIBA 4520C PCL6 - Engineering";};
    pp.NumCopies = 1;
    pp.pageHandling = pp.constants.handling.none;
    fv = pp.constants.flagValues;
    pp.flags = (fv.setPageSize);
    this.print(pp);
    This is tied to a menu button. As I say, it works flawlessly in Acrobat 9, but will not change printers in Acrobat X.

  • IPrint Printer Policy - default printer

    ZCM 11.2.3a
    I seem to be getting some quirky reactions to my printer policy. I
    created a policy with 4 iPrint printers and assigned it to a number of
    workstations. I did not set a default printer because I want to leave
    that up to the user. For some users the default keeps changing from
    their desired default when they login each morning. How is this
    supposed to work?

    Check out TID 7014808 for more info. FYI the listed workaround didn't work
