Adobe's PlugPlug library

I'm trying to include a flex panel in an already created InDesign CS5 Plugin. Im using flashbuilder and CSExtension Builder to create a bundled extension which installs the extension, and places the plugin at the right place.
I have an HTML control on the flex panel and I want its content to be decided at runtime. Basically I want to change the "Location" property of the mx:HTML control on the flex panel from InDesign.
The CSExtensionBuilder help states:
"Adobe offers the Application SDK Extension Toolkit that shows you how to use Adobe’s PlugPlug library to communicate between C/C++ and ActionScript. The toolkit provides the libraries, documentation, and samples you need to build a hybrid extension where the components communicate with each other.
You can include these libraries directly in Photoshop, InDesign, and Flash Pro native plug-ins.
For information on using the PlugPlug libraries in Illustrator, see the FreeGrid sample in the Illustrator SDK."
I've looked at the Illustrator sample but things don't seem to be very clear. Also, where can I find the "SDK Extension Toolkit"?
Any help would be immensely appreciated.

I just want to report my experiences with hybrid extensions and CS Extension Builder 1.5 for use with InDesign CS 5.5. I can say that trying to build a hybrid extension brings a lot of frustration, because CS Extension Builder has many bugs and the documentation plus the examples from InDesign and Illustrator are only a hint one can use. At least I am happy that I must not use the hybrid extension in my project, because I could do it completely in C++.
The "SDK Extension Toolkit" mentioned in the post seems to be what I have as "nativeapptoolkit", and it has not much in it except the PlugPlug library itself and a small sample for Photoshop.
After several days with resolving severe problems with the help of the forum messages, I was in the end not able to receive the user defined events that were sent from the plugin to the extension, what is the preferred way of communicating between plugin and extension.
It seems that there is still a lot of work to do for Adobe to deliver an environment that is easy to use. Another obstacle is that one has to use the installer created by CS Extension Builder to install both the plugin and the extension, what limiteds the customization of the installer.

I recently got a macbook air and want to transfer some books from my Adobe Digital Edition Library that is on my Apple iMac onto my new Macbook Air. Anyone know how to do this?

How do I import Adobe Photoshop Album Library in to Aperture?

I was wondering if any members out there have had experience trying to migrate an Adobe Photoshop Album library in to Aperture. Getting the images in won't be a problem it is keeping the tagging data I am concerned about.
Ideally I would like to keep the 1000's of tags I have set up over the past few years for re-use in Aperture. There is no way I could retrospectively retag all the images again.
I was thinking that it may be possible to somehow attach the tags to a metadata field in each image prior to export and that Aperture could then use these to build its own keyword tagging system. I don't know how I would do this!!
Any ideas?

Upgrade to Photoshop Elements and in the File menu you can apply the tags to the images using ITPC. You can then import the images into Aperture with the tags in place.

Can anyone upload there Adobe Encore CS4 library files
Unfortunately, that will not be a viable solution, as those files are © by Adobe.
Did you download your PrPro/Encore? If so, this FAQ Entry should be useful If you installed from the DVD, then you have the full Library Functional Content on the installation discs. If the Functional Content did not install with the programs, you will just need to pop in the installation disc and should get the option to install Functional Content. If that does not work, I would do a Repair Install, and from there also choose the Functional Content.

Adobe folder in Library

Hi all,
I've been trying to get to the bottom of this reduced battery life on my new Macbook Air.
I found several articles about Flash reducing battery life, and so I removed it. Doing that, I found a folder named Adobe in my Library that is an astonishing 1.1 Gb!!
Most of the files are pre-2009 (I used Time Machine to get my Air going from an 2006 Macbook Pro so inherited a lot of rubbish....!).
I don't use any Adobe software now except for Adobe Reader, which I have to use as I get some PDF forms that Preview just can't open. I still have Photoshop Elements, but never upgraded it and hardly use it.
So, my question is, can I trash that huge folder from the Library without suffering for it?? I know I may have to re-install Reader, but that's no biggy.

When I try to save another excel file that I have also opened from a password protected zip file, the automatic folder selected is "wzQL.8t0UHS". When I try to save a file with exactly the same name as the file that is missing into the folder "wzQL.8t0UHS" it tells me that the file already exists and asks if I want to replace it.
My assumption was therefore that it was some kind of cache where the file is intact.
When I've done a search on the name of the file I am looking for in Finder, I do not find the file.

I am missing colors in my Adobe Pantone Plus Library that are in my physical Pantone Plus Swatch Book.

I have the most recent Illustrator downloaded and the Pantone Plus Library however I cannot find some Pantone numbers that are in my physical Pantone Plus book. One specifically is PMS Blue 2384.
What do I do?

Thanks but that is not the problem. I figured it out. You have to download Pantone Color Manager Software and use the serial number from your registered Pantone Plus book to register the software. Once you do that then you can download the extra 360 colors and then export them to the Adobe programs...
Pain in the *** but it's the only way to get the extra colors in the Pantone plus book to your adobe Pantone Plus Library.The new Library is called Pantone+ V2.

Adobe Reader and library books

I am trying to read a borrowed from the library book in Adobe Reader. But I keep getting the message "Adobe Reader could not open URL Link.acsm because it is either not a supported file or has been damaged." What should I do? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Adobe Reader can't open this type of files. Open the file in Adobe Digital Editions.

Sick of Adobe Support / CS4 Library Slow

I'd like to start a discussion on the total lack of professionality of Adobe's support requests. Almost every time I send a request for support, with full details of the problem, I'm sent back a response that along the lines of "do you have the latest drivers?" and the support request is summarily closed.
My current main problem stems from the fact that the library in CS4 is unforgiveably slow. It can take 2 seconds just to display a library item (in the preview window), and gets worse if the library's height is expanded beyond 200px or so. I'm using a quad-core system with 4g of RAM so it's not a slow computer problem. As far as I can tell it might be something to do with their new GUI (some kind of cross platform thing?) but I can't tell properly!
Anyway, that problem, amongst others, makes CS4 really slow to use, easier to use CS3, and they have not EVER given me any advice how I could fix it or told me that it is something they are working on fixing. I'm really getting to the end of my rope on this one and feel I should not have paid the $1000 for the upgrade (as it just makes things worse for me).

Thanks for that. I finally get an answer that helps. I did the update and now the library is a lot faster, almost as fast as CS3.
For some reason the Adobe update would only tell me about updates to Illustrator until I manually asked it to check for updates. This brought me to the false sense that there were no other updates.
There are a few changes though. I now cannot click on the name to edit, if I double click it goes to rename. This used to be accessible using F2 which was great / quick. Now to edit an instance I have to click on the tiny icon. I guess it's not too much of a problem and it's something I'll get used to at least.
I have already found a new bug though. If you double click on the icon to open a library item, then move your mouse and double click on another item too quickly it won't do anything. No selecting, no editing.

Adobe Content Viewer, library downloading issue

I have the free version of the folio building tools currently with acrobat.com as I test the capabilities of the publishing suite for our company. I updated the folio tools, can sign in, create a folio, and it appears OK in the shared workspace on acrobat.com. I sign into the Ipad and open up the Adobe Content Viewer app. I sign in and it gives me the message downloading library. Here is where the problem happens. After it is finished loading, nothing updates. I can't get the folio to load into the Ipad and neither can my workmate who I shared the file with. I made sure the app was completely up to date.
Any suggestions on how to fix this problem? Is this a common problem?

I just worked with another customer reporting the same circumstances, and it turned out that, as part of their migration from prerelease to their purchase of DPS, they had not provisioned the Adobe ID that they used to build their custom Viewer app. I need to know the name of your company, and the Adobe ID used to build your app, to determine if this is the cause of your failures.
Alternatively, if you have not yet purchased DPS, then your failures are due to the shut down of the prerelease program.

I just work for the company so I would not be able to get a hold of their Apple ID. We have the Creative Suite and I am working in InDesign CS5 with the updated folio tools extension.
I wanted to confirm that because the prerealease program is shut down, those with the free acrobat.com account can not publish a folio to the Adobe Content Viewer? Because a few weeks ago, we could. I can still see my folio in the shared workspace on acrobat.com

Access restriction to com.adobe.flexbuilder.codemodel library

I have Flash Builder 4 Standard installed in Eclipse 3.6.
I am writing an Eclipse plugin where I need to access the Flex project properties so I do something like this:
    import com.adobe.flexbuilder.codemodel.common.CMFactory;
    import com.adobe.flexbuilder.codemodel.project.*;
    IProject flexProject = CMFactory.getManager().getProjectFor(myEclipseProject);
I get this compilation error:
Access restriction: The method getProjectFor(IProject) from the type IEclipseProjectManager is not accessible due to restriction on required library C:\Program Files\Adobe \Adobe Flash Builder 4 Plug-in\eclipse\plugins\com.adobe.flexbuilder.codemodel_4.0.0.272416\codemodel.jar
Notes:
- If I turned it into a Warning I get a runtime exception: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/adobe/flexbuilder/codemodel/project/IEclipseProjectManager
- The plugin com.adobe.flexbuilder.codemodel_4.0.0.272416 is correctly imported in my project.
What does this Access restriction mean?
Why can't I access the Flex SDK for my licensed version of Flash Builder?

Here are steps to reproduce my problem:
1) From Eclipse File > New menu select "Plug-in Project"
2) Enter a project name, leave other options as-is
3) In the "Content" page of the wizard leave all fields as-is (Yes for Generate activator and this plug-in will make contribution to the UI. No for Rich Client application)
4) In the "Templates" page, select "Plug-in with a Popup menu"
5) This generates the project with a NewAction.java class.
Then modify NewAction.java as shown in the code sample below.
1) The "selectionChanged" method sets the _selectedProject variable.
2) The "run" method tries to get the flexProject information from the selected project
=> The import of CMFactory gives me an Access Restriction error "The type CMFactory is not accessible due to restriction on required library D:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash Builder 4 Plug-in\eclipse\plugins\com.adobe.flexbuilder.codemodel_4.0.0.272416\codemodel.jar
What restriction is this about?
How can one import the flexbuilder libraries in order to get information on the flex projects in this case?

Adobe CS6 Encore Library

I downloaded the main library for Adobe Encore CS 6. I am now being asked for a serial number and don't know where to find it. I have a cloud membership.

I used an other Adobe Id for library book

What should I do if I used an other adobe Id to get a book from Library website, but now when I had to make an other ID I cant download it.

The answer to that would probably be "Yes." If you don't remember where your fonts were stored, you may want to search your backups for any of the font files you know the names to. See where that takes you.
Ideally, Font Book and other font managers will temporarily store the fonts you "installed" into the System when you run the OS. When you shut down, etc. they are removed and reloaded on restart. The permanent place fonts reside is where you saved them when or after you downloaded them. I typically create a Resources folder on the root level of the computer and place a Fonts folder there. Then I install fonts from there, and they are available to all users on that iMac.
Perhaps if you did not have that kind of a strategy, perhaps many of them are still in your Downloads folder?
