Adobe won't give me an activation number for CS2 re-install

Ugh, I am not a happy camper since Adobe was purchased by Macromedia.
I switched from Quark to Indesign. From the very beginning there was an issue downloading the new product (CS2) Studio.
It took hours many hours to get the support I needed to acutally finally launch and use the product even though they had my money for 2 months.
I only use InDesign infrequently at home for a particular project.
Recently, when launching recently, there was a error message stating some fonts and CMAP was missing
and suggested that I reinstall the product. Ok, that happens, went through the long download process (9 files.)
When I reinstalled, a required activation number was needed to make the product launch. After several calls to India, then US and back to India, etc, being passed around I was on hold for a total of over an hour, Adobe tells me they no longer have the "patch" needed to activate the software package Indesign CS2 Studios and I must pay $500 of whatever the fee is for an update.
In short, They would not give me the required activation number to make the product work and said that I must upate a program that I originally paid $1200 for.
I have been purchasing software for many years and I must say  this is a first. and ....excuse me but what a bunch of bull.
Sounds like Adobe has become way to big and more interested in the bottom dollar than decent customer support of thier  products even in this down economical time.
If there is a way to activate this program that I purchased, please let me know. I guess going back to Quark is an option......

Wondering who to contact as I now spoken with 5 different customer service reps since the 30 day trial came to an end on our CS2 Design Premium package. We had to reinstall it when the computer's hard drive failed. 30 days ago we contacted support as we couldn't get it activated. Was told to expect an email within 48 hours. Never received it. The user forgot about, until he no longer could use the program - that was Friday. I spoke with 3 customer service reps that morning - including one supervisor who hung up on me mid-sentence. We were promised again that an email would be coming in 24-48 hours resolving our issue. Well, it's over 48 hours now, so I called again - had to speak with 2 reps again - the first one told me they no longer activate CS2 and my only option is to upgrade - not an option! (buggy program "upgrade", extremely slow and expensive!) - I asked how long ago they stopped sending out links - she said they stopped 3-4 days ago - how convenient! Why was I promised then? I asked to speak with a supervisor - she said I had to call back as he was on a call. I called back and spoke with another gentleman who even after reading my case number notes, and me explaining the situation, tried 2 times to activate it for me - of course it didn't work - he again promised me an email within 24 hours to get this activated - once again - I am NOT holding my breath and am absolutely fed up and disgusted with Adobe. Why can't this be resolved???? We cannot be forced into purchasing an inferior product that decreases our productivity because it is so buggy and bloated.

    And I was assuming that you meant redemption code rather than serial number. Is it your serial number? If you've installed PSE before and registered it, you can go to the main page of adobe.com and look for my adobe and work through the links there and hopefully retrieve it.

    can anyone give a good contact number for someone in the upper level of customer care i have talked to two of the worst people from customer service, the "supervisor" who was very appropriate did give me a address to mail a complaint which i will but being a disabled veteran of the Iraq war and a member of the wounded warrior project i get upset at certain people who show no respect for the average person and even worse of an attitude to those injured serving their country. I'm in no way saying I'm better its just that i expect a grain of respect as a person, a fellow American working everyday just to get by. my issue was not an impossible issue to resolve but i was told by one rep that it was not possible after my call being "dropped" i called back and talked to another. Luke from call center Washington state told me it was possible but that the phone i ordered two days prior (that rep failed to finish the order)was no longer available and i could pick a different phone not on back order.......i mentioned my confusion to the lack of service and being told two separate things. i asked why this was when i was not the one who made the mistake he told me it was not there fault and pushed the blame to me....he then called me dude and started to speak over me. when i asked to speak to a supervisor he asked why i told him i was no longer interested in talking to him he said why, i asked to be transferred again he kept refusing saying listen man I'm trying to help you what do you want. i asked to speak to his supervisor at least three more times he refused. i asked for his employee information so i could call back to report his rude behavior he refused to give me anything except at the end he finally told me his name.. there is more but my hand is tired is there anyone who can help me? if i find an answer as i will be posting this to many sites i will post it here.

    You don't need a serial number to install LabVIEW.
    Registration is optional.
    Activation is needed after the evaluation period.
    Install it without number and it will work for a limited time (30days?) in evaluation mode, giving you plenty of time to decide if you want to buy it.
    Check the license manager to see the activation status of everything installed.

    I had a copy of CS2 which would no longer activate.  Asking speaking to Adobe support I was asked to download and install the product from Adobe - CS2 Downloads.  I have down this, however the serial number supplied on that website (xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-5551) does not work.  I application accepts the serial number during the install, however when I go to use the application, I get an error message saying the serial number is incorrect then the application closes.

    For those of you who have successfully downloaded an upgrade to Lightroom 3 with serial numbers, congratulations!  If you haven't, you might beware that you might not get a serial number and neither customer nor technical support has ANY answer for you. 
    When I downloaded, in the serial number field on the download page, I had a message to "Contact Customer Support" where the serial number should be.  When I ran the install on my mac, the readme file said if I had a licensed version installed on my computer, the upgrade would see that and install.  Well, of course it didn't. So, I went back to my order screen on Adobe.com, retrieved my serial number for version 1, and plugged it into the install screen -- still wouldn't take it.
    OK, I'll call customer support like it says to do.  After explaining the situation to the service representative, he immediately says I'll have to talk to a "higher authority" and transfers me to someone else.  I explain the problem to her, she immediately says "that's a technical issue, you'll have to talk to Technical Support", and transfers me there.  The tech support guy says it's a customer service issue and says he going to transfer me to them, at which point I tell him he's already the 3rd person I've talked to, but he transfers me there anyway.  Back at customer service, the  rep then says, "you may have to wait 24 hours for your serial number to be sent to you."  But the email I already received,  headed "Your serial numbers", clearly says it back in my order screen/download page, which all of them looked at while I was talking to them!  It didn't help that the accents/understandability of each person worsened with each transfer.
    Right now, I'll run it in trial mode, but its a cautionary tale for those of use who are early adopters of the upgrade.  They may not be ready for us. This is inexcusable for a company the size of Adobe. Jeez.

    The good news is that anyone who can download the product can use it and all of its features for 30 days w/o the serial number.
    I am fine with mistakes happening.  I can forgive that as long as it is acknowledged.  But what I cannot forgive is an attitude that the customer is doing something wrong when they are not.  I also have no sympathy for trying to cover up a problem and just trying to brush it off as if there is no issue at all.  This has been my personal experience today with Adobe.  So no, I am not give them some slack here.
    A few years back when I upgraded a master collection, I had an issue.  The installer included a beta version for Photoshop.  I was not too happy about this.  But Adobe quickly admitted that they made a mistake (and they did it publicly on this forum if I am not mistaken) and apologized.  I even got a call from someone senior at Adobe to apologize.  Within hours, they figured out exactly who was affected and sent them all e-mails.  I think that almost everyone was fine with the problem after they admitted it.  But Adobe did not learn from this mistake as is issue here today.  Either they were willfully covering up this mistake or they have no organizational structure that can quickly identify problems like this when they arise to properly communicate the problem to their customers.  Either way, it says a lot about the organization.  The fact that my rep didn't even know that Lightroom 3 had been released when I first talked to her says everything to me.  They ought to be prepared whenever there is a new release of any of their products.  And they should be on the lookout for systemic issues.

    Identit -E has verified and approved my student status for the product I purchased (lightroom 4) but after two days, still has not given me a serial number so that I can use the product.  They say that it is due to a technical issue, but won't tell me when this issue will be resolved.  My 30 day trial expires in two days and I really need to be able to use the product that I purchased but won't be able to until Identit-E gives me a serial number.  Adobe customer service wasn't any help, they wouldn't even work with me to extend the trial period while I am waiting on their own vender to fix their problem.  Anyone else having this sort of problem? 

    Just as an added note, I have tried using the elgibility verification service a few times, have chatted on live chat with identit-e a few times and have sent emails to identit-e a few times as well.  I just want to use my product and am so surprised and disappointed that Adobe can't seem to fix this issue or help me out.

    In case, if it is a part of Creative cloud, there are no serial numbers associated.

  • How can I get Apple to give me an activation key for QT Pro that works?

    Stopping at the Genius Bar last night, they suggested I upgrade my QT Viewer to Pro so I could move some of my digital video over to my iPone. I followed the purchase/download instructions and after putting in the activation code, I was NOT redirected to the page to activate the Pro version. I did the usual of retyping ny name, the key and even installed QT Viewer again, all to no avail.
    I caled Apple support this morning and was told to call QT support and have them make my key recognizable. The only problem is the number she gave me for QT support says there is no QT phone support, only web information on frequently asked questions and this forum. I sort of feel like I am going in a circle.
    So if anyone has the magical answer on how I can get Apple to give me an activation key that actually works without being able to speak or email a human support person, I would very much appreciate it.

    Thanks again for your suggestions. No, I don't get an
    error message. In fact nothing happens. My name and
    key are typed in and from what I understand, once you
    do that with a real key it directs you to the
    registration page. When I get done entering the
    information the window just sits there without any
    button or option to continue.
    QT Pro is already in the QT (non-pro) you installed and the key (which is a hash of your name in part) allows the Pro features to work.
    No redirect, internet, nothing like that. As such many people have activated and think they haven't. Just look at the menu items and see if the "Pro" logo is shown next to a few (which are greyed out and not available without Pro). If not you are done.
