Advanced Search fails in large GeoPDF Documents

Hi!
I have generated a large georegistered PDF Document with many text elements.
When reaching a specific count of text elements, the (advanced) search function of Adobe Reader will stop working correctly. It will find results which are not matching the search query.
This error does not occur in "normal" text pdf documents but only in pdf documents containing georeferenced vector elements. Can anybody confirm this behaviour?
I can provide a test pdf file if necessary.
Thanks for help,
Jörg

Oh come on - Is any Adobe staff around in this forums?

  • Documentation Search - Advanced search fail

    The documentation advanced search (accessible from any search result page like this one)on the following page

    doesn't work at all... that return an error page 404...

    Hello again.
    That link on the 10.2 doc page was not supposed to be there. It is only supposed to appear (right now) on the 11.1 doc page. It will be backported to 10.2 some time in the future, but that hasn't been implemented yet, which is why the link failed. The link has now been removed until the backporting is implemented.

  • Advance Search not working in Document Management Task Flow

    Hi,
    We are using Document management task flow to manage UCM content. The simple search works for us but the Advance search does not work. Does anyone know of any possible reason why this could happen. Any hint would be really appreciated.
    Thanks
    Salim

    Hi Srinath,
    Thanks for replying.
    So in my scenario when I try to search the content using the simple search which is present at the right hand top corner I get the search result properly. But when I try to search by clicking on the Advance link which gives me a option to search by Filename, Keywords and adding other filters, it always returns zero search results.
    Thanks

  • Browse Documents in Advanced Search iView

    Hi,
    I am trying to develop a Search Component. I need to include a Browse Document also in the component as in the advanced search.
    How can we do this?
    Regards
    BP

    You can not set this at a user specific setting.  This is a global configuration issue.  You can either change the global configured search option set or you can create a custom search option set and create an iview that would contain your default settings.  Go to system admin > system configuration > knowledge management > content management > user interface > show advanced options > search.  Here you can create and manage all your search settings.  Hope this helps.

    Something to try - use Acrobat to extract small page counts (say 10 pages) to have smaller page size PDF files. Export these to Word files. Then  bring those together.

  • Efficient searching in a large XML file for specific elements

    Hi
    How can I search in a large XML file for a specific element efficiently (fast and memory savvy?) I have a large (approximately 32MB with about 140,000 main elements) XML file and I have to search through it for specific elements. What stable and production-ready open source tools are available for such tasks? I think PDOM is a solution but I can't find any well-known and stable implementations on the web.
    Thanks in advance,
    Behrang Saeedzadeh.

    The problem with DOM parsers is that the whole document needs to be parsed!
    So with large documents this uses up a lot of memory.
    I suggest you look at sometthing like a pull parser (Piccolo or MPX1) which is a fast parser that is program driven and not event driven like SAX. This has the advantage of not needing to remember your state between events.
    I have used Piccolo to extract events from large xml based log files.
    Carl.

  • Advanced Search: Viewing Results Issue

    This problem seems to only be on my Microsoft Surface Pro tablets with windows 8.1.
    When doing an advanced search within a document the results box is usually very large and you can see all the hits that came back. However, on my Surface when doing a search the results box is so small that you can't even see what's showing up.
    I've tried to enlarge the search box which slightly helps but still can only see one or two results at a time and must continue to use the scroll bar to get through them.
    I was curious if there was any options within Adobe that could be changed in order to get this view changed so its more user friendly and easier to work with?
    I've been through many of the options myself but was unable to find anything that worked.
    Thanks for the help.

    As per my understanding you can crawl DL columns
    Can you get that document in search results page? Please check to see if the site which contains the library is included in content source.
    Could you please check site settings->Site Administration->Searchable columns, maybe the column is excluded?

    Go to your Search Service Application in Central Administration.
        Click on Metadata Properties in the left navigation.
        Click on the Crawled Properties link.
        Click on the Categories link then select the SharePoint category
        Navigate the pages (next page arrow link) until you see ows_Title. Click on ows_Title.
        In the "Mappings to Metadata Properties" area of this page, ensure that the "Include values for this property in the search index" checkbox is checked, then Click OK. This checkbox is not checked by default.
        Repeat the same procedure above for your ows_Description crawled property to confirm that it is included in the index - which it should be by default.
        Start a Full Crawl
    This will now include these crawled properties in the index and should now be available in the Managed Property which exposes them for Search.
    If this helped you resolve your issue, please mark it Answered

  • Navigation within Advanced Search

    Hi - - I use Acrobat X Pro in an Enterprise Setting.
    I use Advanced Search (SHIFT+CTRL+F) to find multiple occurrences of words or phrases in large documents.
    If I perform an Advanced Search and get a big list of search results, I can select each result (in the search window) with my mouse and the main window will scroll to the corresponding entry in the document.  However, I should be able to navigate up and down through the search results window using my arrow keys, but it doesn't work.  The highlighted results in the search window moves up and down when using the arrow keys, but the document doesn't scroll in the main window.
    If another user logs onto my PC, navigation with the arrow keys functions correctly for them.
    Is there some setting in Acrobat that's tied to just my user profile that I'm missing?  My IT staff has already tried reinstalling Acrobat, but to no avail.

    One of two things that are likely:
    1.  Your User Profile data for Acrobat is corrupt.  You can test this by creating a new profile on the machine and see if this works.  If it works in the new profile then your profile information is likely hosed.  You can try correcting this by removing or moving all the Acrobat data your user profile out of the profile to a new folder on the desktop and then relaunching Acrobat.
    2.  Your installation is corrupt.  You can remove Acrobat completely by using the AcroCleaner Tool on Adobe Labs, reboot the machine and then reinstall the application.

  • Failed to get the document information (LO 26315)

    Hi,
    I have to create an Xcelsius dashboard where I use a Live Office connection based on a WebI-report. The WebI is created on top of a BEx Query.
    I need to pass 12 parameters to the WebI-report in orde to get the correct data.
    Everything works fine in design-time, but when I want to preview the dashboard, I get the error: Failed to get the document information (LO 26315).
    After investigating the issue, I've noticed that everything works fine when the parameters I have to pass, are only created in the WebI-report. But in my case it is a BEx variable that causes the error.
    There is no possible way that I can recreate the BEx variable in the Universe (There are restricted key figures, calculated key figures and cell restrictions in the BEx query).
    My question: is there a way to pass a parameter from an Xcelsius dashboard to a WebI-report via a Live Office connection to a BEx variable?

    Fred,
    on the SAP Notes Search page on sdn.sap.com, you can enter the note number in a text field at the right side of the page, just above the Search Option part.
    Just enter Note 1357924 in that text field and press the blue icon with the arrows next to it. Thiw ill show the corresponding note.

  • Advanced Search in Reader 9 for packages w/ embedded indexes created in Acrobat 8.1

    I am having a terrible day.  I've just finished combining thousands of documents into 6 packages w/ embedded indexes using Acrobat 8.1.  The advanced search feature allowed me to enter several peoples names "Wilkes Terry White Smith Johnson, and I could select to "Match any of the terms" and I'd be able to see any documents that mentioned any of those names.  The problem is that my boss only has Reader 9 installed and his advanced search screen looks entirely different for the nice advanced search screen I can see.  I can't figure out how to get all the advanced search features for him to use.  If he enters several names "Wilkes Terry White Smith", he gets no hits because the system is assuming I'm just looking for someone named "Wilkes Terry White Smith."  Is there any way to have the search look for "Match any of the terms" as opposed to "Match the exact phrase" using Reader 9.  I'm in deep trouble tomorrow.

    Is there any way to have the search look for "Match any of the terms" as opposed to "Match the exact phrase" using Reader 9.
    Yes; if the embedded index is still present and "Search" rather than "Find" is used.
    Edit > Search rather than Edit > Find.
    Search requires the embedded index or a Catalog index.
    If a PDF having an embedded index undergoes a "Save As" the embedded index is removed and the PDF saved to support Fast Web View.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro: Importing large Word-Documents

    Hello together!
    I have a big problem with my doctorate thesis. I would like to import a large Word-Document (2.28 MB, about 300 pages) into Acrobat 9 Pro. That doesn't work at all. I can't beleave it. Is Adobe even worse than Microsoft?????!!!!!!!!
    It starts to import, but at the point of 7% everything is finish. I tried everything, but I can't import that document. Does anyone have a good idea? That would be really great...
    Thank you very much!!
    Chris

    If it is changing the indices, then you likely have printing metrics turned on (they are off by default in WORD 2007 and on in previous versions). If you want to change the printing metrics, you will have to search through a whole list of choices in the options for WORD. I the meantime, select the Adobe PDF printer and then use ctrl-A, F9 to update your pages and layout (I assume you are using styles and such). The print out should then be correct. The disadvantage is that you would have no bookmarks unless you add them manually in Acrobat.
    When you have problems with PDF Maker, open the preferences and start turning off every things (you might want to write down the settings first so that you new what you started with). Then add things in until the PDF creation is broken. Then you know what the major cluprit likely is in the failure to create a PDF.

  • Failed to open XML document. Failed to retrieve Public ID

    I have a client posting to Weblogic 6.1 server with the help of Apache
    SOAP 2.2. The posting works fine if the contents of the SOAP message
    is small. But when the contents of SOAP reached more than 11KB, the
    following error occurs:
    Error: Failed to open XML document. Failed to retrieve PUBLIC id or
    SYSTEM id from the document. Decrease the number of char between the
    beginning of the document and its root element.
    The SOAP document looks like:
    <SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
    <SOAP-ENV:Body>
    <mn:sMethodName xmlns:mn="sMethodURI">

    <address>...</address>
    </employee>
    </batch>
    </mn:sMethodName>
    </SOAP-ENV:Body>
    </SOAP-ENV:Envelope>
    The Max Post Size in Weblogic is set to (-1).
    The program is able to handle less than 50 items of
    <employee>.....</employee>. The error occurs when more than 50 items
    are used. The problem is that our application should be able to handle
    more than 1000 items of <employee>....</employee>.
    My questions are:
    1. How should I configure weblogic to solve the problem?
    2. How should I configure the deployment of Apache SOAP to solve the
    problem?
    Pls advise. Thanks.

    One can deduce from the error message that the parser is looking for the
    <?XML...?> portion of the document because that is where the SYSTEM and
    PUBLIC ids are found in the document.

    Sorry, but I didn't get what you mean. I thought that was handled by theApache
    SOAP API already? And if it couldn't see the XML document header, then whydoes
    this only happens when the document size is large? It doesn't haveproblems whenever
    the document size is small.

  • Predefined properties in advanced search

    Hello Experts,
    We have recently upgraded to SP18 from SP13
    I have created new Predefined Property called watercorp_reviewdate
    I wanted to make this field available in the Advanced Search Functionality in the list of 'Filter by Predefined Properties'.
    I did the followings
    1) Went to: System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> User Interface -> Search -> Search Option Set
    2) Edited UISearch
    3) Selected watercorp_reviewdate property from the list beside the option 'Allowed Predefined Properties' and hit save.
    But, On 'Advanced Search' the  property watercorp_reviewdate
    in not listed under 'Filter by Predefined Properties'.
    Does anyone has any clue?

    Hi Sabbir,
    please make sure of the following:
    1. Property is marked as indexable in the KM configuration (Property Metadata). This flag is not set by default.
    2. You have indexed documents that have already a value for this property. You can use the TREX Monitor - Index Details to check that.
    Hope this helps,
    Robert

  • Input field in "Advanced Search"

    Hello Experts,
    I'm setting the "Search Component Set" and "Search Option Set" in our portal, and I've a little question..
    In our default "Search Option Set" I disabled the property "Enable Large Search Field" (and it works fine, the input field is not large!) BUT during the search when I go in "Advanced Search" the input field return large... Why??
    Is possible to set a  not large input field also in "Advanced search" ?
    Thanks in advance

    Ok,
    in SystemAdmin > SystemConfig > ContentManagement > UserInterface > Search
    you can find the "Search Component Set" and "Search Option Set".
    Configuring "Search Option Set" (the default option set used is "UISearch") you can enable/disable the parameter "Enable Large Search Field", that works on input field width..
    If I disable this parameter the input field of my toolArea is short, but if go into "Advanced Search" the input field change and became large...
