Advanced setup

Hello,
I setup my brand new Time Capsule today.
But using my Airport utility In Mountain Lion I don't see manual or advanced setup when I click  Base Station in the menu.
I download the windows version and there I see the options.
I want to see the logs and statistics who is connectoed.
The Mac Airport uitliy is version 6.1.
Why I don't have a option "manual" in the Base Station menu?
Thanks,,
Edy

I want to see the logs and statistics who is connectoed.
The Mac Airport uitliy is version 6.1.
Unfortunately, there are no logs or statistics in AirPort Utility 6.1....because Apple removed this feature and a number of other features and functions in the "upgrade" to the Lion and Mountain Lion operating systems.
If you want those features back, it is possible to download AirPort Utility 5.6 and install it on a Mac running Mountain Lion.  See this article for details:

  • Exchange active sync not requesting advanced setup details

hi - we have exchange 2010 with active sync 14.1  we have many types mobile devices connected using active sync including iphone and android.  when we previously added any account onto a phone we always had to add the advanced setup manually during
the setup i.e. mail server and domain.  now these details are added automatically after adding email and password.  This seems less secure and i need to find how to stop this.
    Thanks

    Hi ,
This is normal behavior in exchange because of autodiscover feature and it is making up the things easier during new account configuration on mobile devices.
After giving up the user name and password ,autodiscover is the feature which will bring up the remaining settings that you mentioned .
We will discuss in terms of security view .
1.User's password would be confidential .
However in worst cases someone might know about anyone's password and email address then on such case there would be chance to configure that particular account in any of the mobile devices.
We can control the above scenario too.
In exchange Active sync organisation settings we have an option to set the DefaultAccessLevel to quarantine for the devices. So that administrator can decide to allow or block the active sync device which is trying to connect to exchange.
    Reference Link : http://exchangeserverpro.com/preventing-new-activesync-device-types-from-connecting-to-exchange-server-2010/
Note : If your existing exchange organisation is having active sync devices configured in use then before changing the "Defaultaccesslevel" to quarantine we need to make sure existing active sync device ID'S are added to the corresponding mailboxes

  • B1DE Advanced setup and creating UDO object during installation

    Hi,
I am developping addons on B1 2007B and use the B1DE advanced setup package.
Is there a way in the CustomInstallerClass to connect to the B1 Application to create UDO tables ?
    Regards,
    Grégory

    Hi Gregory,
Tables and UDOs creation in DI API should not be done during installation. You should do that in your addon after connecting to the DI API.
You need some code in your addon checking whether the UDT, UDF, UDOs,... already exist, if they don't exist then you create them. You can manage that with a user table were you can keep the current version of your installed addon, this way you can know whether you need to create/update something in your Db every time you start your addon or not.
    Regards,
    Trinidad.

  • WRT110 Advanced setup screen login problem

Hi all - I tried following directions to the advanced setup as explained in the user's guide, but when going to the  192.168.1.1 Ip address and getting the login prompt - the user's guide says leave username blank and enter admin as initial password, I get prompted again for Username/password, then after 3 attempts it kicks me out with a forbidden label.

Yes, the default password of the router is 'admin' but if you have change the router password like using the cd and forgot what it was, you can reset the router by pressing the reset button at the back of it. Hold it for 10 seconds then power off and on the router. You should be able to login with the router using admin(lower case) as the password. Just reopen the http://192.168.1.1 to get the username and passsword prompt. It will give you 3 trys to put the correct password after that it will give you a 401 unathorized error. Just reopen http://192.168.1.1 to be able to type the password again.

  • Advanced Setup Features???

Once again I am finding the instructions confusing. I hooked up a new airport extreme to get a wireless connection to my iphone 4s but want my Imac i7 10.7.3
hooked up to the eithernet connection.
    These are the instructions:
Open AirPort Utility, located in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder on a Mac,
and in Start > All Programs > AirPort on a computer using Windows.
3 If there is more than one base station in the list, select the base station you want to
configure. If you don’t see the base station you want to configure, click Rescan to scan
for available base stations, and then select the base station you want.
4 Choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu. If you are prompted for a password,
    enter it.
For more information and detailed instructions for using the manual setup features
in AirPort Utility, see the “Apple AirPort Networks” document, located at
    www.apple.com/support/airport.
fisrt off there is no document I could find at this adress with "detailed instructions"
    second
I could not find a manul setup from a base station menu which I could not find either???
BTW I unhooked my hard wire to the imac to help setup the airport. I wanted to set up some kind of security but cannot even get to the menu?
Then what is the best security setup if I make it there??
    Thanks
    Rob

I could not find a manul setup
Suggest that you download and install AirPort Utility 5.6 for Mac OS X Lion as it will track with instructions that you have and the instructions in the Apple AirPort Networks document.
Keep AirPort Utility 6.0 on your Mac (you cannot delete it). It's fun to look at, but you will probably find a lot more use for AirPort Utility 5.6

  • OVM Manager 3.1 - Advanced Setup / override

    Hello All,
I'm curious to know if there is a way to override the the OVM Production Installation. In short, I already have a weblogic server installed on the same server where I'm deploying the manager, yet the installation goes and installed another one.
Just out of curiosity, is there a way to edit some file OR set some environment variables that would change this ?
    Thanks
    Jan S.

There isn't a way to load the ovm console into an existing weblogic doman. At least not one that I know of. You could make your MV Manager virtual and run it in your VM environment.

  • WLST and Jython "advanced" setup

    Hi,
I have a few questions concerning WLST and Jython:
    OS:
    Unix / Linux
    Situation:
    1) Unable to include wlst-file created by using writeIniFile automatically
    2) using org.python.util.jython without caching message
    Information:
    1) wlst.py generated by using writeIniFile in an interactive java weblogic.WLST session
    2) when starting jython using "java org.python.util.jython" the message "*sys-package-mgr*: can't create package cache dir, '/opt/oracle/fmw/fmw11gR1PS2/wlserver_10.3/server/lib/weblogic.jar/cachedir/packages'" is shown
    3) location for often used modules is unkown. For weblogic.WLST this is "<WL-Home>/wlserver_10.3/common/wlst/modules"
    Request:
    1) where should common modules be placed for the included jython
    2) how to change jython cache location
    3) is it possible to update to another jython version
    Any and all help welcome

As a data point for you (others may have had a better experience) we tried to also use Jython 2.2 with our WLST automation env that we created and found the same issues (and more) that you are describing. When we would talk with support on the matter, we were always told that WLST was only tested/certified on the version of Jython that shipped with WLS (in our case 10 MP1). In 10MP1, it is Jython v2.1. Once we started using v2.1 (and got past a few other CLASSPATH issues regarding a module JAR that is packaged with WLS that is somehow not put on the CLASSPATH when running the setWLSEnv.[cmd/sh] script), we are up and running and have had no further issues. Hope this helps...

  • ITunes setup on a NAS with multiple windows users - how?

iTunes setup on a NAS with multiple windows users?
I am very confused on what is the best way to handle this setup for my friends family.  Any help would be appreciated.  Sorry in advance as I know this is a long winded post - I have a feeling this will help others faced with the same issues or questions.
    CURRENT SETUP
I have three new Windows 7 machines networked (two desktops and one laptop) that have four users on each - as busy family with children who need the computers for homework, projects, games, etc...  The goal of this setup is that any user can log onto any computer and have there documents available to them no matter computer was free to use.  I set this up using the library function in Windows 7 and seems to work pretty well.
I have put a Buffalo Linkstation NAS on the system as well.  This was going to serve two purposes 1)  run some backup software to protect the computers and 2) consolidate the iTunes content in one place for all users.  There is also an iPad in the home that I should would be better served by accessing the content on the NAS without requiring any of the computers being on.  Dave is thinking about getting some other playback devices like Apple TV so thought a NAS would be a good way to go.
CURRENT ITUNES SETUP - I have created a new iTunes library on the NAS by holding the SHIFT button down while starting iTunes and pointed to that folder on a Share on the NAS.  There was no music on the system at the time as we are planning to copy this over from an OLD machine that is now not being used.  I have also authorized all the computers and turned on the home sharing feature (although I am not sure what good that does).
This “shift” button trick seesm to also point the default directory there without point to it in the advanced setup tab of iTunes.
I then synced one of the iPods with purchased content on it and synced that to the library after asking me to do so before an update.  All the content showed up in the library and was playable - awesome.
I then logged into each user on each machine (yikes) and installed iTunes  and used the “shift” trick to connect each users iTunes to the database on the NAS.  Everything seems to work - but I have not tested it thoroughly.
    SUMMARY
3 new Windwos 7 networked machines
4 identical users on each machine
    1 TB Buffalo linkstation
iTunes setup with the folder on a SHARE
all user’s itunes connected to the iTunes folder on the NAS
all computers authorized with home sharing turned on.
one iTunes user account signed in on each machine
multiple iPods and one iPad in the system
    QUESTIONS/CONCERNS
Is there a better way to do this on a NAS?
Would home sharing be better in some way?
I understand the NAS should show up under the shared section in iTunes - I assume that would mean that would mean each user has an iTunes library on their documents?
I have read that there may be corruption issues if users on the different machines try to access iTunes at the same time.
Will there be any issues syncing that various iPods with?
Ugh - sorry for the long post and all the questions.  I am just trying to find the best way to do this.  I wish Apple would put out a best practices document for setups like this.  Thanks in advance.

This is a user to user support forum. Your fellow users can offer solutions or workarounds based on their experience with the application. If you think it should work differently drop a line to iTunes Feedback.
For reasons unknown Apple haven't chosen to allow iTunes to be suspended in one profile and active in another. My recollection is that this applies even if each profile has a different library, although it is some time since I've committed a personal test.
I'm not sure why my suggestion make less sense that your current approach?. As I understand it currently everybody is either signed into their own account when they can do something other than work with iTunes, or they sign into the special iTunes account where they can't access any of their other stuff. You don't have to disable fast user switching. Follow exactly the same steps, but make sure everyone closes iTunes before turning the computer over to another user. Disabling fast user switching helps to enforce that action.

  • Unable To Execute Files In The Temporary Directory. Setup Aborted. Error 5: Access Is Denied.

    Hi Everyone,
Whenever I install some new software in my new laptop I get this error:-
Unable To Execute Files In The Temporary Directory. Setup Aborted. Error 5: Access Is Denied.
I have tried synchronizing the clocks but it doesn't remove the problem.
These softwares work on another laptop that i have, which also runs windows 7.
Can someone please tell me the solution as this is extremely urgent.
    Thanks In Advance.
    -Michael

    In short:
    ============
My permissions were all fine, so if anyone has trouble resolving the issue after sorting permissions then make sure you try fully disabling your anti-virus / anti-spyware / firewall applications, because that was the cause for me.
    In detail:
    ============
    Problem:
    Failed to install this application
    - http://www.ssware.com/cryptoobfuscator/download.htm
    - on Windows 8.1 x64
    - Get error message "Unable To Execute Files In The Temporary Directory. Setup Aborted. Error 5: Access Is Denied."
    First Candidate Solution
The issue turns out to NOT be security rights on the Temp folder
ESET Smart Security HIPS Advanced Memory Scanner is the cause
    http://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN2908&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US&searchid=1392804914417
Instead, I went and turned off all the ESS protections one by one and it turned out to be HIPS that is causing this false positive.
In fact, it is the Advanced Memory Scanner option under HIPS that is causing the error, while the application in question is legit (using Inno Setup and presumably trying to write to the user temp folder, not sure whether just logs or to execute from there)
Furthermore, Smart Security logs have no entries under HIPS even though I ticked "Log all blocked operations" under the HIPS "Advanced setup" - it was quite a journey to find out the cause :)
Thank you. I have the same OS and installed ESET Smart Security as well. And it is resolved now.
I just want to add, that by "Temporarily disable protection" and "Temporarily disable firewall", it doesn't work. You have to disable HIPS, as KristjanL said.

  • Anyone help setup TC with Buffalo Linkstation NAS

I have a TIme Capsule working great with my iMac. I also have a Buffalo Linkstation Live 1Tb NAS.
There is a smartphone app that allows you to share a folder from your NAS over WiFi and 3G. I want to do this so I can share my music over my 3G when out and about, and play it (I am in UK and have unlimited 3G internet).
However in the easywebaccess setting it says I havent got UPnP. I'm unsure how to enale/set this in my TC. I goto advanced setting on my NAS and says I need to setup oorts etc, I dont know how to do this on a TC.
When trying advanced setup I get this error "UPnP Gateway not found and/or doesn't support port forwarding, use manual setup."
    Anyone help please?
    cheers

Let me suggest you swap your system or your thinking..
If you use a modem router to which the TC is connected tell me more.. The TC can be bridged and the other device become the router.. this makes things easier as you can then track ports that upnp opens.. and see what you need to do.
I am unsure where the app is loaded.. is it in the buffalo or the phone??
Mostly iphone is rigged to itunes, welded or melded would be better as it is almost impossible to escape itunes.. so when you coyly refer to smartphone.. I presume you are not actually talking about iphone but the that horrible company that had the gall to encroach on Apple's space.
To get music to work, it must use a standard method eg http, or ftp etc.. all you need to do is to tell me what method it uses if you don't have the actual ports it uses.
Apple buiild everything to operate in their own paid for realm of itunes.. icloud etc. When you try to bypass that.. you need to get the apple router out of the way.
(It might also be much easier to use an SD-Card or some other memory type if you can plug those in).

  • Solution Manager Diagnostic setup SM 4.0 NW2004s questions

    Hi Experts,
Am new to solution manager and was trying today to setup SMD for the portals (EP 7.0 NW2004s). Here we have SM 4.0 (NW2004s) or SM 7.0 (as called now) already installed and used for different purpose. So i hope the SMD is already installed for this version. I am able to login to smd/admin page.
    1. I did the monitoring system config. Now when I go to monitored system tab I get this message
Landscape DB is empty. Please make sure Component Analyzer is ready on monitored systems, and use "Refresh" button on this page
We haven't installed the component analyzer on the monitored systems. Where can we find it on SMP?
    2. If any body could provide me with the document for the same or give me just the steps in sequential order for SMD setup or the latest setup guides as am bit confused reading guides I have. The guides available are for NW2004 i.e. SMD setup guide and SMD advanced setup (Version 1.0 June 2006) from SMP.  I have also followed the blogs but there is nothing much on SMD setup.

I would definitely go to the highest support package level if you plan to install support packages. Many fixes have been incorporated.
RCA (Root Cause Analysis) is a function provided by SMD. To set that up check

  • ICal Server setup help !!!

    Hello All,
I would like to share my experience with setting up the iCal server and all the hick ups I had to get it finally working. At least what worked for me. Check the basics before you start.
This is all done from after installing the server in Advanced setup or so to say normal installation as it was under Tiger. I'm trying to summarize what I have done. It took me a lot of hours do. So if I mis something feel free to reply with the missing things. Maybe together we can setup a working manual for all others that have problems with the setup and lack documentation from Apple.
    1) Make sure your DNS is setup properly and working. Test it with:
type: “named-checkconf” in de root account of the terminal. Nothing should happen thats OK
type: “named-checkzone” in de root account of the terminal make sure you use the complete path and bare in mind that Apple changed the DNS setup again pointing to something like var/named/zones/db.example.come.zone.apple. The serial of the DNS should load and you should receive a OK. Make sure that your server IP is also mentioned in the system preferences/network DNS so you can use for example the server.example.com in server admin.
    2) Either use SSL or don't when you want to use, use it everywhere otherwise it something will slip trough and want work. Without SSL it appears to work easier in the setup from local iCal client to server. But SSL is of course more secure. I want talk about Kerberos because I'm not able to get that to work yet.
    3) Make sure you set it up from an "Open directory", "Local directory" should/could work to but I haven't test that yet and I seriously doubt it would work properly.
That being said I now can share my setup with you (switch your firewall of during setup it's easier to troubleshoot, switch it on again if everything works. If it stops working after the firewall is on again, well you know where to look for the problem :-)):
    1) After setting up the Open Directory Master I switched on SSL and created a own certificate for my server. I didn't protected the certificate with a password as it gives a lot of extra problems with setting things it up. You can than select the certificate under Server Admin/Open Directory click on setting and click the tab LDAP. There you can select it.
    2) Make sure your webserver is running and you have a working website where you can go to. Under Server Admin make sure that under the selection Sites that your FQDN is filled out. Being something like www.example.com and not example.com. The second one could cause iCal web part to not work accordingly at least that is my experience. After that choose security and make sure SSL is on and your certificate is selected. The rest of the website settings is pretty basic I didn't changed to much. I do know that I switched on some extra modules. Being bonjour_module, authzsvnmodule, davsvnmodule. This prevented further in the installation the 210 error when I went to the Calendar under my webbrowser. I wouldn't know which of the 3 is doing the trick I only know that after this it worked for me.
    3) Pffffff OK go to the iCal Server settings under the Server Admin. The settings are straight forward but again make sure SSL is on and your certificate is selected. And look at your host name which should be someting like server.example.com. If you are not able to get DNS setup properly you could try your machines example.local name. But that again could give troubles when you want to use local iCal client outside the door on a laptop for example.
These where all the server admin setting. Now go to the Workgroup Manager and selected the group/groups you want to have Calendaring switched on and choose the way people are able to logon. This you can do by going to the group select the default website and services you want to give. Then select under Allow the way people can logon to this website or iCal services.
When that's done you should have everything up and running on the server site. So now go to a local iCal client and go to preferences/accounts/server setting. Click the + on the left bottom site and fill out a name and password leave the server option for now to auto. This way and when everything is setup properly you should get something like https://server.example.com:8443/principals/_uids_/14A0DD22-86CA-4F55-96D9-9CB461640D52/. The end number should refer to your name and password account so the number want be the same as in this example. Well if it works you are one of the lucky people and you are able to setup a shared Calendar from there. It would help a lot if you have more than one machine to test. Because it didn't worked on my MacBook Pro getting a famous error "iCal unexpected secure name resolution" But it did worked on my wifes iMac. So the server settings are OK. Now the good part when it's not working is that you can go to your webbrowser and type or copy the following: https://www.example.com:8443/principals/users/shortname (naturally use your own server name and user name). There you can see details of the principals settings. Including youre uids number. This number is unique for your name and password. Copy this number. Then go back to iCal switch of the auto find in iCal client under preferences/accounts/server settings. The first part of the link is https://server.example.com:8443/principals/uids/(Now paste you number here). Hit enter and see what happens. It the name server is not working for you than use for example iso server the name mail if you have it setup in the DNS is should work. It did worked for me and it gave me a nice shared calendar which you can name for yourself. Every group member should be able to see this agenda once hooked up to it via iCal client and prefences/accounts/server settings.
If you go to your website or www.example.com/groups you should see youre shared group. Sorry I only tried it with one group sofar. If you make changes to the calendar from the webbrowser it will show up after a refresh in your iCal client and visa versa. The only thing I still have problems with is the events for more days. They show up on the web as events but when I click them they produce a unwanted error. But when it's based on a single day than it work perfectly.
Hopefully you have a working iCal server to now. If you find something interesting or you think I left some important things out. Please reply and fill out the blanks.
I just hope that it will save some time for the new once setting this up.

Thank you for sharing your experiences. I am looking at setting up an iCal server myself for our business. However, our situation is a bit different. Could you also share what kind of workgroup you set it up for? And maybe help me answer a few questions below. Thanks in advance!
First a little background. We are a small management company. We have individual clients that we manage. We need to have access to their calendars to schedule events, etc. The thing is that we would be the only ones looking at everyone else's calendars at once so that we can coordinate our own schedules so that we can be where it is most important but still not lose track of other activities.
    1. What kind of machine are you running the iCal Server on? Xserve? MacPro?
    2. Is it possible to view multiple users' calendars within a single calendar view?
    3. Does setting up this kind of calendar server sound like the setup for our situation where only we, the management, will be able to view all calendars?
    4. How difficult will this set up be on our clients and their machines since we have little control over their personal machines? (The majority of our clients are all Mac users. There may be one PC user.)

  • Email Account Setup - Provider Identity Not Verifiable

Hi, today I completed a hardware upgrade at Rogers from BB Bold 9000 to BB Q10.
I successfully setup my Hotmail account.  However, in trying to add another account (POP3) it does not complete and displays "Provider Identity Not Verifiable"???
Rogers technical support is not helpful at all.  They said it is probably a server issue, but my Outlook 2010 is receiving email just fine.
Can anyone help me please!  Thanks!

I located a BlackBerry document that provides the solution for adding a POP3 account.

  • IMAP Mail Setup with self-signed SSL certs

I am unable to set up IMAP access to an email account of mine on the new iPhone mail app. The setup stalls at "verifying" and I can't seem to save the info entered and then disable SSL in the advanced setup.
Also, it doesn't seem possible to install SSL certs out of safari. On the computer I was able to navigate to the server via https and permanently accept the SSL cert. The option doenst exisit in Safari Mobile. If you have the servers cert (.der) file in the web root of the server, possible to download and install the certificate. This solved a similar problem for my ExchangeMail push with our Kerio server. Unfortunately, the certificate file of that other IMAP account is unavailable..

If possible, instead of configuring it on the iPhone, try configuring it on your computer and using iTunes to sync the configuration itself to the iPhone. I am connecting fine to an IMAP server with a self-signed certificate. The first time I opened Mail (on the iPhone) it prompted me with a dialog saying the certificate was invalid but I was able to accept it. Since then, it has never prompted me again about validity of the certificate (even after rebooting the phone) so I believe the Mail program can permanently accept a self-signed certificate.
And yes, there doesn't seem to be a way for Safari Mobile to permanently accept self-signed certificates. I have read that the iPhone is supposed to pull certificates from the Keychain but this does not appear to be the case.
