After Effects markers to Flash Cue Points

I'm working on a project that invlolves tracking footage using Mocha AE, bringing the corner pin data into After Effects, and finally converting that data into layer makers so that it can be read as cue points in Flash.  The Flash guy I'm working with is creating an automated system in Flash that will composite images over the footage I'm tracking using my exported FLV's with metadata .  We've had a certain amount of success but there are some lingering issues that I'm hoping someone can shed some light on.
1) Is there any way to see all the data that is stored in a particular layer marker (this is after running the "convert selected properties to layer markers" script.)  When I click on a layer marker it shows the cue point data at the bottom, but there are only 3 spaces for data, and I know I've been able to export a lot more than 3 paramerters of data into Flash per cue point.  There seems to be no way to expand the window to display more data.
2) Transparency data in the layer markers seems to cause all sorts of issues when it is interpreted in Flash.  At first I tried using simple hold keyframes for opacity, and have also tried linear keyframes, and generating a keyframe for every frame of video, and each time the results are unpredictable.  The in and out points' opacity values for any particular layer seem to be correct, but in between that there seem to be random opacity values in the cue data on the Flash side.  Is there a way to reliably get transparency data into Flash via the FLV (with metadata) format?
3) Is there a way to change the order of how data is listed in the layer markers?  I've tried selecting individual paramerters in a certain order and running the layer marker script, but the cue point data seems to be ordered the same way each time.
4) We seem to be running up against a limit of how much cue point data Flash can ingest in an FLV, but we have not seen any documentation regarding this.  Does anyone know if there is a set limit?  Right now we're either splitting up the clips into smaller pieces or reducing the amount of data on the Flash side, but if there's an actual limit it would be nice to know so we can work around it.
Any other tips that might help save some time in this process would be most welcome.
Thanks!

Is there a way to reliably get transparency data into Flash via the FLV (with metadata) format?
Don't think so. It's inherent in how Flash calculates opacity/ transparency. Something with normalizing/ quantizing the opacity for the entire stage and changing Alpha values. You'd have better luck exporting an XFL and copying the keyframes manually to the respecticve layers in Flash and/or you have someone write an XML parsing script to pull them directly in.
Is there any way to see all the data that is stored in a particular layer marker (this is after running the "convert selected properties to layer markers" script.)
Read this article on how to access marker data with expressions, then create an expression on a text layer's source text property. Off hand I'm not sure about the individual field names in the markers, but I'm sure it's easy enough to figure out.
Is there a way to change the order of how data is listed in the layer markers?
Not that I know. Unfortunately the fields are hardwired, not custom XMP. Still, should not be a problem - you can no doubt easily reorder everything when importing in Flash, it may just prolong parsing when a script is involved...
Does anyone know if there is a set limit?
The file format specs don't state anything, which means there can be one for every frame, if you assume that what is not exclusively ruled out is possible otherwise...

  • Premiere, Media Encoder and Flash Cue Points - bug?

    I've been encoding a number of FLV On2 VP6 videos recently and using the new Media Encoder. For this project we need flash cue points (nav and event). I've discovered some weird things in Media Encoder - it's been duplicating cue points (or maybe the export from Premiere is buggy with cue points?).
    I've seen the first couple of cue points getting duplicated with the first letter of the name capitalised and moved a frame on in time - very weird.
    Anyone else seen this behaviour?
    Paul.

    OK, I think I've found out why - not a bug - user misunderstanding!!!  (although tricky to find!)
    Some of my source footage was created in After Effects. It turns out that there were a couple of cue points in the AE comp that had similar names to the cue points in Premiere - the AE comp was saved out to an AVI (with metadata enabled I think).
    Premiere wasn't seeing this metadata and the cue points, but Media Encoder was (and it couldn't be deleted in ME - just kept coming back).
    So - moral of the story - be careful with metadata!!!
    I guess that Premiere should really show this embedded data though?
    Paul.

  • Error Code: 34 Mac OSX 10.8.4 for Photoshop CC, Bridge CC, After Effects CC, and Flash CC

    Hello,
    So I am installing all the CC versions of the software and all but Photoshop, Bridge, After Effects, and Flash installed without a hitch. On those 4 programs I get the same error code: 34. I am able to install the CS6 variants of them without any problem and run it. Here is the error code:
    Exit Code: 34
    Please see specific errors below for troubleshooting. For example,  ERROR:

    I have been unable to fix this on my own and with what I've found online. I'll list what I have done so far to try to fix this issue. I have tried to use the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool but the issue is since PS, BR, AE, and FL won't install I can't clean them to try a fresh install. I tried installing the CS6 versions to see if it would dowload the 'Camera Profiles Installer_8.1".
    Any help on fixing this ASAP would be much appreciated!
    Thanks,

    Error Code: 34 Mac OSX 10.8.4 for Photoshop CC, Bridge CC, After Effects CC, and Flash CC

  • Has anyone solved or worked around the After Effects CC red flash frame glitch?

    I can't find any mention on any forums of the After Effects CC red flash frame glitch later than Feb. 2014. I just installed 12.2 (which was my first CC version) on my macpro and started getting the red flash frames randomly, but with increasing frequency, in my projects. I have never had this problem before on any previous computer or version for AE. The forums I've read have referenced ProRes source footage, outputs to ProRes, and lens blur. My project uses all of these things.
    If there is a universally accepted solution/work around, I haven't seen it definitively. Do I not use ProRes source footage? Do I not render to ProRes 4444? Do I not use the lens blur effect? Do I give up and go back to CS6?

    Hi Keith,
    I have the "same" issue with the red frames in AFX CC
    I have seen them first, as I resized a prores4444 HD to a smaller format and saw the redframes in the preview window.
    Setup in AFX: I created a comp from the HD Prores4444 footage and put this comp in a comp with resolution of 960x540.
    The output format was again prores4444.
    I shuttled through the clips in the small comp and I saw the red frames too.
    When I switched to the HD comp at the same position everything was fine.
    I "solved" the problem by flushing the cache, twice. Because after the first purge I was only able to render the first clip. The second one had the red frame problematic again.
    Maybe It has something to do with hardware accelerated layers.
    I'm using a MacPro running OSX 10.8.5 with a Nvidia GTX680.
    Cheers
    Michael

  • Importing WAV file with Flash Cue Points Premiere Pro CS6

    I want to import a Japanese voice-over . WAV file which has Flash cue points marked in it so that I can clearly identify edit points on the video timeline when I import it into Premiere pro CS6.
    Or is there another way of getting a voice-over artist to mark up audio so that I can clearly identify when certain words or phrases have been spoken? Trouble is, Japanese characters mean nothing to me! Usually this is not a problem with European languages like French and German, as I can easily mark up the script with a highlighter as I can follow the voice over on the supplied script, but Japanese characters mean nothing to me.
    Please help.
    Many thanks.

    Premiere has a function now where you can import a clip and drag onto a timeline and it will prompt you with a message about changing the timeline settings to match your clip, (or if there is no timeline it will automatically create one that matches your clip.) This is in CC of course so you might consider upgrading. They have fixed a lot of compatibility issues from CS6 to now. If you don't want to get all of CC for 60/month then you can at least shell out 20/month on premiere. It's worth it. They've made it where you don't have to worry about 99% of all video formats. They just work.

  • Flash Cue Points in Soundbooth

    I'm working on a little singalong-application for flash CS4 and found that Soundbooth lets me insert cue points so that I can later sync textfiles to flash video if I save the soundbooth file with markers as  a .fv4-file. I tried it, but can't seem to get AS3 to find the cue points? I thought thay were dispatced as the video plays, so I added an EventListener and tried to trace something but nothing happened. Am I on the wrong track here?
    Sig

    Hi Sigmundo,
    At work ( disturb media ) we've finished a karaoke flash project. I haven't used Soundbooth then, we had limited time, so I wrote a few handy commands for flash that took care of the job. Hopefully we will be able to document that, right an article and share the commands as a packed extension.
    I've learned Soundbooth over the weekend and FLVCuePoints was one of the highlights. I've used FLV
    and everything worked out fine. I didn't know the Media(Flash Video) Encoder allows you open an xml
    file and insert cuepoints at that stage.
    Anyway,
    About F4V, Lee Brimelow has a more detailed post about the cue points bug here:

  • Should I render a looping movie in After Effects or in Flash Pro?

    Hello. I am using Flash Pro CS6.
    Right now I am trying to make a simple SWF file that can play three looping clips via individual play buttons.
    I made three FLV movies in After Effects. They are  80 frames , 30 fps clips, but those clips have lots of same frames. I mean one clip is something like this.
    AAAA BBBB CCCC DDDD AAAA
    AAAA DDDD CCCC BBBB AAAA
    AAAA BBBB CCCC DDDD AAAA
    AAAA EEEE FFFF BBBB AAAA
    It contains just 6 frames(A,B,C,D,E,and F). As you can see there are lots of same frames.
    I want to make SWF as small as possible, so to make it small, I should import still images and make a new timeline in Flash pro and render them as SWF in it?if I import still bitmap images(ABCDEF images) into Flash Pro and make a SWF in it, Flash Pro can do better compression than AE? If so I will remake the timeline. I really need better compression because I need to submit a SWF file whose limit is 5MB.
    If I need to make my SWF small,Which is the best choice? Making a FLV in AE and import it into Flash Pro and publish, OR Making a movie using those still images in Flash Pro and publish? Give me your advice. Thank you in advance.

    Thank you for your advice.
    Is it better to make a movie in Adobe Flash? Can you explain the  merit? I always use AE and it's much easier for me to make a movie in AE, if there is not big difference I want to stick with AE timeline. Tween function is kinda hard to handle.
    And thank you for the FLV info.I will upload them and use them as an external clip.

  • How to Create and export motion data from After effects CC to Flash CC

    Hi there ,
    Basically what I've got here is as follows.
    I have a small character animation (about 100x100 px) - that is running inside a screen of 1280x720 px.
    I want to hold the caracter in one position (so that I can get ridd off the useless alpha. i guess i will do that manually by keyframing)
    and also to give a motion data to be used in Flash CC - to assemble the original animation.
    Can anybody help me out with this?

    Yeah, that's one of the reasons that we removed it: no one was using it. And it was terrible.

    Of course, if you _do_ want this feature, it's relatively easy to save the project back to After Effects CS6 and then use After Effects CS6 to create an XFL file. Keep in mind that all Creative Cloud subscribers have access to CS6 versions, too.

  • Exporting subtitles for Flash cue points

    I want to not just create subtitles, but use them in Flash video and other cue-point supported applications for distribution on the web. Is there a way to export my subtitles created in DVDSP to a standard stf or other document? Or do I have to use external software and then export for Flash, DVDSP, etc? If I have to use a third party, which one works best? I've seen many in the Apple Downloads section...
    Thanks,
    Chris.

  • After Effects CC  GoPro Footage In Point / Out Point Problem

    On the left you have the imported video made by GoPro hero 3, imported intto AF cs6. On the right.. The same Video imported to AF CC latest version.
    For some reason. AF CC screws up the timecode of the video and i cannot figure out why. Moreover... when exporting Camera tracker from GoPro video to Cinema4d... the camera is not working.
    Any help would be welcome.
    Kind Regards
    Ivan

    when exporting Camera tracker from GoPro video to Cinema4d... the camera is not working.
    That would require to see the shot, but based on the thumbnail it's pretty obvious that the shot may not at all be suitable for 3D tracking and solving to a logical 3D camera. I don't see a timecode issue, either. Depending on how those cameras actually store it and maintain their counter, it seems perfectly logical. CS6 may just not have fully supported the source timecode and thus reverted to its default behavior defining the beginning as zero.

  • I need help with my event-based cue points with audio

    Im having trouble with my video game project for my action script 3 class at school. Here is what i did, i made a game called Tailgate toss up. I filmed my character and rendered it in Adobe Premiere. I than brought my .mov file into After Effects and I put event-based cue points-
    my first cue point at 0:00:03:13 called "loop"
    my second cue point at 00:00:03:27 called "draw"
    my third cue point at 00:00:05:24 called "bang"
    my fourth cue point at 00:00:13:29 called "dead"
    my fifth cue point at 00:00:14:29 called "You Lose"
    my last cue point at 00:00:19:14 called "End"
    Here is my action script 3 code
    ///first frame:
    start_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, startGame);
    function startGame(event:MouseEvent){
    gotoAndStop(2);
    SoundMixer.stopAll()
    stop();
    ///second frame:
    stop();
    var loopTime
    var hitHim:Boolean = false;
    var vConnection:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
    vConnection.connect(null);
    var vStream:NetStream = new NetStream(vConnection);
    var client:Object = new Object();
    client.onCuePoint = onCuePoint;
    vStream.client = client;
    var myVideo:Video = new Video(418, 480);
    myVideo.y = 0;  ///this adjusts where the video is, right now it is the size of the canvas which is 418,480
    addChild(myVideo);
    myVideo.attachNetStream(vStream);
    vStream.play("michelle.flv");
    var throw_bottle:Sound
    throw_bottle = new Sound(new URLRequest("audio/throw_bottle.mp3")); //change to button noise, will add sound into ae file
    target_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, shoot);
    target_mc.buttonMode = true;
    target_mc.visible = false;
    draw_mc.visible = false;
    function onCuePoint(cuePoint:Object):void {
       if(cuePoint.name == "loop"){
    loopTime = cuePoint.time;
        if(cuePoint.name == "draw"){
    var randomLoop:Number = Math.random()*10;
    if(randomLoop > 2){
    vStream.seek(loopTime);
    }else{
    setChildIndex(target_mc, numChildren - 1);
    setChildIndex(draw_mc, numChildren - 1);
    target_mc.visible = true;
    draw_mc.visible = true;
    if(cuePoint.time == "5:24"){
    draw_mc.visible = false;
    target_mc.visible = false;
    if(!hitHim){
    vStream.seek(15);
    if(cuePoint.name == "dead"){
    vStream.close();
    myVideo.clear();
    gotoAndStop(3);
    if(cuePoint.name == "end"){
    gotoAndStop(3);
    function shoot(event:MouseEvent){
    throw_bottle.play();
    hitHim = true;
    ///my third and last frame
    playAgain_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, playAgain);
    function playAgain(event:MouseEvent){
    gotoAndStop(2);
    SoundMixer.stopAll()
    stop();
    When I have no audio it works perfectly, no problems. When I bring audio in i re-render it as a .mov file and bring it back into After Effects and add the cue points to it. Than i re-render it out again as a flv file. When i bring it into my flash project it will work when the looping variable does just one loop and my target will appear so you can click on it or not. But when the looping variable makes it loop 2 to 10 times it skips over the catching (the part of the clip if you clip the button) and goes directly to the dropping of the can, not giving you the option of clicking the button. So basically it skips the "draw" or second cue point of my game and goes to "You Lose" cue point.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
    The latest audio driver for your machine is on the following link.

  • Rendering .flv with cue points but maintaining video size

    When I render an .flv by exporting in After Effects I cannot get cue points however when I import the .flv to a Flash doc, the controller is the same width as the video.
    However, in order to get cue points, you have to add the video to the Render Queue in AE in order to see the cue points in Flash. But the video controller ends up wider than the video itself when imported to Flash.
    My video is 495 wide by 360 high. When I render in AE in the Render Queue, and then import to a Flash doc, the video controller is about 30 pixels wider on both the left and right of the video. This looks goofy. Is their a way to resolve this?
    Thank you.

    Thank you for responding. I tried to but what happens is that that there is about 15 pixels of black space on the left and 15 pixels on the right side of he video. This does not happen when I export to Flash, only when I add to the Render Queue.
    So If I adjust the video size in Flash, the video size changes however the black space still remains. Somehow AE is creating extra space black space on both sides of the .flv. Again, this does not happen when export to .flv.

  • After Effects video cue point data error #1107

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to create a personalised video using the techniques described here: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/atv_personalized_video.html
    I have created the video and tracking data in After Effects (CS5), converted the tracking data to Flash cue points and exported the .flv file. I can import the video into Flash (CS6) just fine and I can see all the cue point data however when I try to compile the Flash project, bearing in mind this is just an empty stage with an instance of FLVPlayback on it, I get the following errors:
    VerifyError: Error #1107: The ABC data is corrupt, attempt to read out of bounds.
    ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable Icon is not defined.
    ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable FLVPlayback is not defined.
    ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable Main is not defined.
    If I export the .flv without the cue point data I can import, compile and play the video without error.
    I've had a look around and I've not really been able to find any information about this issue and don't have a clue where to start with it.
    Any ideas?!

    Here is the script I used to export the markers as valid XML for Flash to import. Please note that this will export all markers from all layers so if, as I did, you have multiple 'versions' of your tracking data on different layers it will export the whole lot.
    var comp = app.project.activeItem;
    var XMLStart = "<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8' ?><FLVCoreCuePoints>";
    var XMLEnd = "</FLVCoreCuePoints>";
    var XMLTemp = "";
    var XMLFinal = "";
    var layerCount = comp.numLayers;
    var layer = new Object;
    var layerMarkers = new Object;
    var markerCount = 0;
    var curMarkerTime = 0;
    var curMarkerName = "";
    var curMarkerType = "";
    var curMarkerXML = "";
    //Layer markers
    for(i=1; i<layerCount+1; i++) {
        layer = comp.layer(i);
        layerMarkers = layer.marker;
        markerCount = layerMarkers.numKeys;
        for(j=1; j<markerCount+1; j++) {
            // get the parameters for this marker
            var params = layerMarkers.keyValue(j).getParameters();
            var XMLParam = "";
            var cont = false;
            // loop through parameters
            for(param in params) {
                // I added this conditional to strip out markers in my project which were superfluous
                if(params[param] == "410,230.5") {
                    var cont = true;
                    continue;
                // generate the XML for the parameter
                XMLParam += "<Parameter>";
                  XMLParam += "<Name>" + param + "</Name>";
                  XMLParam += "<Value>" + params[param] + "</Value>";
                XMLParam += "</Parameter>";
            // if this is a superfluous marker then don't add it to the XML string, just go on to the next
            if(cont) {
                continue;
            // get / set additional marker meta data
            curMarkerTime = layerMarkers.keyTime(j) * 1000;
            curMarkerName = layerMarkers.keyValue(j).cuePointName;
            curMarkerType = "actionscript";
            // assemble the full XML element for this cue point
            curMarkerXML = "<CuePoint><Time>" + curMarkerTime + "</Time><Type>" + curMarkerType + "</Type><Name>" + curMarkerName + "</Name><Parameters>" + XMLParam + "</Parameters></CuePoint>";
            XMLTemp += curMarkerXML;
    //Comp markers
    var tempText = comp.layers.addText("");
    var tempSrc = tempText.text.sourceText;
    tempSrc.expression = "thisComp.marker.numKeys";
    markerCount = Number(tempSrc.value);
    if(markerCount > 0) {
        for (i=1; i<=markerCount; i++) {
            tempSrc.expression = "thisComp.marker.key(" + i + ").time;";
            curMarkerTime = Number(tempSrc.value) * 1000;
            tempSrc.expression = "thisComp.marker.key(" + i + ").cuePointName;";
            curMarkerName = String(tempSrc.value);
            tempSrc.expression = "thisComp.marker.key(" + i + ").eventCuePoint;";
            if(tempSrc.value == "true") {
                curMarkerType = "event";
            } else {
                curMarkerType = "navigation";
            curMarkerXML = "<CuePoint><Time>" + curMarkerTime + "</Time><Type>" + curMarkerType + "</Type><Name>" + curMarkerName + "</Name></CuePoint>";
            XMLTemp += curMarkerXML;
    tempText.remove();
    //create output string
    XMLFinal = XMLStart + XMLTemp + XMLEnd;
    //Write file
    var cueFile = File.saveDialog("Save the XML file", "XML:*.xml" );
    cueFile.open("W");
    cueFile.write(XMLFinal);
    cueFile.close();
