AIR Upgrade Bug

I am using Flash Builder 4.5 and I manually downloaded the Flex 4.6 SDK and overlayed AIR SDK 3.5 on top of that and configured Flash Builder 4.5 to use that. However, whenever I launch directly to my Nexus 10 I get the following message:
"Your device has an older version of Adobe AIR installed. Would you like to upgrade it to Adobe AIR 3.5.0.1060?"
The device already has Adobe AIR 3.5.0.1060 installed. Selecting Yes or No produces the same results. I have even attempted to uninstall Adobe AIR on the device and then run the application however any subsequent launches still produce the same update message.
Anyone know how to fix this?

Why not embed the AIR plug in and avoid this whole mess, and make it easier for your users. Before we could embed the AIR player with our apps I had a lot of users complaining about downloading the stand alone AIR plug in so its a good move all around.

  • How should an application developer handle Adobe AIR upgrades on Windows and Mac?

    Hi,
    My questions concern Windows 7 (and later) and Mac OS X:
    Is Adobe AIR upgraded automatically? In other words, by default (if the user does not uncheck something during installation), is there a service/polling mechanism that checks for a new version of Adobe AIR and recommends an update to the user?
    What happens if a user has an older version of Adobe AIR installed, and my application requires a more recent Adobe AIR version? Do I, as an application developer, have to do something or is it handled by Adobe AIR automatically?
    Have Adobe AIR introduced many backward compatibility issues in the past? Is it possible for a user to have multiple versions of Adobe AIR installed at the same time? Can I, as an application developer, specify that this exact version of Adobe AIR is needed by my application?
    If there sometimes are backwards compatibility issues with Adobe AIR. Is there a way for me as an application developer to try out a new version before it is released to the normal users? In other words, is there a way for me to make sure that my application works with the next version of Adobe AIR before it is released by the normal channels to the general user base?
    Is there something else which should be taken into consideration when it comes to Adobe AIR upgrades and versioning issues?

    Well we would suffer especially much from two of the drawbacks listed at Packaging a captive runtime bundle for desktop computers:
    The AIR in-browser API for installing and launching an AIR application from a web page is not supported
    AIR update API and framework are not supported
    We are using the Air application as a solution for printing, which is invoked using the AIR in-browser API when the user clicks the "Print" button. I would guess the route to make it work with a captive runtime (which was something new to me), which I see as a normal stand alone application, would be to register a specific MIME type with the OS and each Web browser which is handled by our print application. And let a file of our new MIME type contain the information passed in the in-browser invocation at the moment. That would trigger the application when a user clicks Print.
    We also use the AIR update API to update our application. Being without it means that we would need to create our own update mechanism.
    These two paths to handle the given drawbacks above would mean a lot of work for us. Especially as we want to support both Windows and Mac. It might be worth it if the answers to my questions in the original post indicates that we can expect another type of problems instead.
    I am still interested in answers to my original questions. But we will certainly take the captive runtime approach into consideration. As I didn't know about it, I really appreciate your answer!

  • Fios Upgrade Bugs

    Since last weeks upgrade I have noticed the following bugs, wondering if they are system wide or specific to my installation:
    1. Caller ID now shows up about 30 seconds into the call, it would be more helpful to know who is calling before I pick up.
    2. The guide screen for shows just started does not display properly, when scrolling you see a show that has just ended, but when focus on the detail comes into view the name is displayed to the now showing show.  Why have the scroll if it's not accurate
    3. Guide scrolling has become slower in the new interface.
    4. DVR has become very flakey, competing shows start and the warning comes up after the show has stared of the conflict.
    5. On-Demand.  Was it allways this way (don't think so) that you can no longer fast forward more than 2x.  Fios dropped me in the middle of a purchased movie and I had to start from the beginning, resume play did not work (started over) and could only 2x fast forward.

    When you try to schedule shows that are further out than the current schedule, the dvr reboots.  Happened twice today When trying to schedule Touch which starts 1/25.  Problem occurs When trying to schedule the show or series.  I have two 7232 dvrs with attached esata drives.

  • MacBook Air upgrade?

    I've decided to get a MacBook Air. I won't be purchasing for another month. But I am going to be using it to run boot camp some and for some gaming. Mainly just the sims 3. But 95% of it for school work. Now since I'll be using boot camp. With windows 7. Would it be necessary to upgrade the ram and processor to i7 processor and 8gb of ram

    You should get your MacBook with 8 GB of RAM, as 4 GB may not be enough with future Mac OS X versions. Respecting to the Intel Core i7, you may notice a difference with games, but the rest of tasks will be very similar. I recommend you to get it with the i7 too.
    Respecting to Boot Camp, the Mid 2013 MacBook Air supports 64-bit Windows 7 and 8 versions, so you can install the one you want. In both cases, you need to install a System Builder or full Windows edition, which you can buy at Amazon or NewEgg

    As said above, you have the latest. But the 3 hrs of battery use (I assume the 11" model) seems very low. Reviews all show 5 hrs per spec, or close, with screen at 50% brightness. Unless you're doing something very processor or storage intensive, or have the screen at full brightness, I'd take it to an Apple Store and have them check it out.

    I have tried numerous reloads of the Prime Unit (Physical box) but to no avail. If anyone is able to assist in the resolution of this bug it would be much appreciated. The Bug search tool says that the fix is not yet in the public domain but the 2.1 Relased notes mention it as a closed caveat.
    This prime was running in a HA pair prior to being split for the upgrade. Both boxes are identical.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    If your familiar with WCS or NCS, then change the theme from lifecycle to classic mode. You can change this by clicking on the top right in the GUI by the login name:
    Prime Infrastructure provides two different graphical user interfaces (from which you can switch back and forth by clicking the downward arrow next to your login name):
    Then you can follow this guide.

  • AIR 3 Bug: PDF width is more than HTML width

    In AIR 3, I'm loading a PDF using the mx:HTML component. Here's some sample code:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <s:WindowedApplication xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
    xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
    xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx"
    showStatusBar="false">
    <s:layout>
    <s:HorizontalLayout paddingBottom="8" paddingLeft="8" paddingRight="8" paddingTop="8"/>
    </s:layout>
    <s:VGroup width="100%" height="100%">
    <s:Button label="Open PDF" click="html.location = 'http://samplepdf.com/sample.pdf#toolbar=1&navpanes=0&view=FitH,top'"/>
    <s:DataGrid width="100%" height="100%"/>
    </s:VGroup>
    <s:BorderContainer width="100%" height="100%" backgroundColor="#EFEFEF">
    <mx:HTML id="html" width="100%" height="100%"/>
    </s:BorderContainer>
    </s:WindowedApplication>
    The HTML area has a width of 100% but only takes up half the screen due to another component which is also trying to use 100% of the screen. In AIR 2.x the PDF displays fine, but in AIR 3 the PDF displays as though it's using the.entire width of the runtime window instead of the HTML's width.
    If the runtime window is resized, minimized or maximized, the PDF width automatically changes and matches the HTML width, which displays fine. This is the only workaround I have found that doesn't involve removing software from the workstation. Another user has found that downgrading from Acrobat 10.x to 9.x also works, but for Windows 7 users that have Acrobat 8 Pro and Reader 9 (like me) this causes errors (that are fixed in Reader 10), so this isn't a suitable workaround for me.
    Here's the bug report: https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3000289
    Any chance this bug could be looked into urgently as it's preventing us from using AIR 3 or any Flex applications that use the AIR 3 SDK?

    POSSIBLE WORKAROUND:
    I think I've found the problem. The issue doesn't happen with Adobe Reader 10.0 full stop. However the issue occurs with version 10.0.1 or later when "Protected Mode" is enabled. Disabling Protected Mode resolves the problem, at least for me.
    This workaround has been tested with Reader 10.1.3.
    Could Adobe AIR 3.x be doing something that Reader interprets as malicious, thus why the issue only seems to occur when Protected Mode is enabled?

  • AIR - Major Bug (?) with MovieClip class

    Hello all,
    We are a team of developers working on ActionScript 3.0 project using Adobe AIR SDK and Adobe Flex SDK.  During the development we discovered what seems to be a major problem with getting MovieClip instances to play correctly. More specifically,  the problem has to do with the gotoAndStop method. If, using the gotoAndStop method, you perform a for loop over all MovieClip frames (from the 1st frame to the last one) and go back to the 1st frame again, then, after adding MovieClip to the Stage, the 1st frame won't be set, contrary to what's expected. Instead, the MovieClip selects the last frame, which messes things up.  Are there any solutions to the described problem, other than switching to the right frame after the object has been added to Stage?
    This seems like a 'no way out' situation - any help would be much appreciated.
    A note: MovieClip itself is being imported from the 'swc' file.

    Thanks for the heads up and I'm sorry you guys have run into this issue.  Is this is new to AIR 3.x?
    Could you please open a new bug report on this over at bugbase.adobe.com, including a brief description and sample code/app to help us easily reproduce the problem.  Please post back with the URL so that others affected can add their comments and votes.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Due to rights agreements, we cannot offer Air-Play - BUG

    Hello there,
    I purchased an Apple TV device to enable me to watch TV programs that are streamed on my IPAD on my..er...TV.
    I configured the device and I get a message "due to rights agreements, we cannot offer Air-Play"
    Is this a bug in Apple's software or the demented paranoia of some idiot TV executive ?
    I would imagine that 99.999% of people want to stream TV to watch it and of those a significant number might have the odd friend who they would like to share this with, so they use the big screen.
    I have googled the subject and all I can find is how to break my device operating system and install the anti-break detection but really, do I have to do this just to enlarge the picture on my Ipad to my TV - this seems just mad.
    The programs I am wanting to watch are free-to-air TV and the app is provided by the company that delivers the free channel.
    I am about to take the Apple TV device back to the shop since it does not function as advertised.
    Anyone know if Apple have a plan or are they just sticking their heads in the sand on this one ?
    The internet is full of complaints and all the solutions seem to be to crack the operating Apple system so the Apple TV device can display content on a TV.
    Regards
    Trevor

    Hi anemitoff12,
    We are not able to reproduce this issue. Could you please send your app and command used to create the policy to me by email:[email protected]? So that we can try and see what the problem is here. Thanks.

  • IPad Air 2 bug

    So, i just got my new iPad Air 2 and I noticed a bug. When I am at the home screen and I swipe down to get into Spotlight Search, everything turns gray and becomes all pixelated until I swipe back up. I haven't updated to iOS 8.1.1 yet.

    Never happened to me so suggest reboot or even better, download latest ios. No reasons not running latest ios on a new device

  • MacBook Air Upgrade in Store

    I am planning to buy a Macbook Air in a few weeks, but I wanted to make the 2.0 GHz and the 8GB but do I need to order it offline or can I go into the store and just buy one with those upgrades? (been a while since I last bought a Mac haha)

    The RAM upgrade must be done from the online Apple Store.

  • Is the "flash" storage in Macbook Pros and Airs upgradable?

    I just watched an OWC video on upgrading SSD on mid 2012 Macbook Pro, is that what they consider "Flash" storage? They only say SSD, so I'm just wondering if I buy 128GB Macbook or Air can I increase it later or is it "built in" and not upgradable?

    SSD = flash memory storage. There are no Apple-supported upgrades for the internal SSD/flash storage in the MacBooks, partly because Apple uses a special connector. OWC has created replacement MacBook SSD/flash drives of their own initiative, and they do work. But they are only available for some models.
    Due to the special Apple design of the flash storage you will not find many options for upgrading. So far only OWC has gone to the trouble of trying to match the Apple specs.
    It is still best to order a MacBook with the amount of storage you need, if available. If you do need an upgrade later, whether you will be able to will depend on whether OWC offers one for the model you have, and there is no guarantee of that. And any such upgrade will not be supported by Apple. But OWC is a good company and I have bought many products from them.

  • Ipad Air upgrade system

    I was setting up our new ipad Air and it prompted me to upgrade the system.  I agreed, and now it is just flashing back and forth between the apple sign and a black screen.  I figured this was part of the process, but it has been doing this for almost an hour.  How long should this take?  Can I stop it?

    Try the following:

  • Contact List OS Upgrade Bug

    Hi - This isn't a question as much as bug I found.
    I upgraded the OS via the Desktop Software on my MacBook last night to 5.0.0.972 and my contacts were not restored from the backup that it took just prior to the OS upgrade - everything else seems fine. Weirdly though, my historic call list retained the names against the numbers!
    Just something to look at I guess...And will know to back them up separately in future! :-)
    Stephen

    Also....as part of the upgrade it moved 2 of my installed apps (BeWeather and TSN) from the Installed section to the Uninstalled section of My World, despite them still being installed. Reinstalling both apps resolved that though with no effect on overall memory usage....just a minor annoyance!

  • 4.2.2 upgrade bug re Music Unlimited

    I hope this helps anyone else who hits this very vexing problem.  Took two solid days of phone calls, but I finally reached someone somewhere in the world at Sony who was able to explain this and help me fix it.  He said it is a known bug.  The 4.2.2 Xperia Z wifi tablet upgrade created the appearance that my (and your?) tablet was actually several different devices that had all logged in to Music Unlimited, thereby violating a three-device limit on the basic paid Music Unlimited subscription.  After that happened, I was prevented from saving any new music for OFFLINE playback.  For example, I could save an album while online, and I could place the album in a playlist that was checked for "available offline", but then when I went offline the album and playlist would not be there.  The solution was that I had to delete all my Music Unlimited account files and info from the Xperia Tablet and then sign back in to Music Unlimited.  My music was saved (I guess backed up from somewhere in the clouds), so I was restored and good to go.

    First, open Music Unlimited app on your Xperia tablet, go to Settings/Account Settings and Sign Out.  Then close out of the app.
    Second, open Settings on the tablet, and select Apps.  You must go through settings, not through the Apps tab.  Under Apps, select Music Unlimited.  Under Storage, select Clear Data.  Under Cache, select Clear Cache.
    I think that was all there was to it. Then I restarted Music Unlimited, and it started to give me first-timer's welcome to the service, except when it was done loading it somehow recognized me and backed up my albums and playlists from The Cloud.  The only glitch was that it unchecked every Available Offline box on all my playlists, so I had to go back in and re-check them.
    I only use one device on Music Unlimited.  If you run more than one device, it is possible that this process might be more involved.  Good luck
