Airport Express and HP F4180 All in One Printer

Hi
I just bought an Apple Airport Express to connect my F4180 to my wireless home network. This F4180 used to be connected directly via USB to my Vista PC and was available to the other laptops by sharing the printer. This worked ok, but I always had to start this specific computer to make the F4180 available for the other laptops.
After installing the Airport Express and Bonjour everything seemed perfect, but after the first print I noticed that only 60% of the page was printed and an error occured. I tried everything, installing, reinstalling, deleting, reading forums, helpdesks, etc, etc, but did not find an answer.
Does anyone have a clue?
Thanx in advance
Henri
Vista,
HP F4180 All in One printer,
Apple Airport Express (latest version),
Apple Bonjour (latest version),
Linksys E200 wireless
Apple Airport Express installed as extension of existing network

This combination SHOULD work but it often does not.  I have replaced several base routers from non-Airport to Airport and resolved issues like this - USB printers, AirPlay issues, etc.  Its the only way I know how to make it work, sorry.

  • Airport Extreme connects to Epson all in one printer, scanner doesn't work

I got a new Airport Extreme to connect my all-in-one printer, copier, scanner Epson CX8400. Connecting the printer feature to my MacBook Pro and my HP laptop was very easy, however can't get the scanning feature to work. Has anyone had this same issue? Do you know how to solve it other than plugging the USB cable directly to the computer? thanks!

    Hi Carlos9912,
Does the Epson CX8400 support scanning over WiFi/Bonjour? I know my two HP Photosmart printers and my Epson I have do not support scanning over WiFi/Bonjour, despite the fact that they support printing functionality.

  • Painfully Slow Airport Express + HP Deskjet F340 All-In-One

I have high speed service through comcast. When the ethernet cable is plugged directly into my computer, everything works great, quick as can be. When I have it plugged into my Airport Express, it slows down to rates 1/10 of normal. I show full signal bars and my airport express is literally two feet from my desk. I've tried with and without inter. robustness to no avail. I am in an apartment complex which has at least two other wireless networks in it. I've looked through the forum postings thus far but have not found a solution. Suggestions?
Second issue, I have an HP Deskjet F340 All-In-One printer. It is not among the HP printers listed as supprted with Airport on the HP website. Is there anything I can do/download/kick to make it work?
    Thanks!

Are you sure you have set the base station to use 802.11g? Open Aiport Admin Utility in Applications>utilities and set it to use 802.11g. Also, interference from cordless phones and other wireless devices can cause trouble.

  • Installing software for MAC 0S X 106.8 and ENVY 7645 all in one printer

Is there a way to download software so that my MAC OS X 10.6.8 and work with my new HP ENVY 7645 all-in-one printer?
If so, please tell me how to do that?  Thanks!

    Hi,
    I afraid not.
The printer is only supported on 10.7 or newer OS versions, as listed within the System Requirements below:
    http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04353671/
If your Mac support Yosemite you may upgrade your operating system to 10.10 for free:
    https://www.apple.com/osx/how-to-upgrade/?
The other option os to replace the printer with another model which is compatible with your operating system.

  • Apple Tv drops IP given from Airport Express, and wont get an new one untill AE gets restarted.

So my Apple TV (3rd gen) is connected via ethernet to my Airport Express, but the Airport Express needs resetting all the time for my Apple Tv to get an IP.
How do I get them to be friends forever without resetting the AE? When the AppleTV gets restarted, it still wont get an IP. I've disabled the 'sleep' option on the ATV with no luck.
    Any idea's?

odd I had that issue with wifi once only once
that the airport exteme and atv got off on the wrong foot one day and the
appleid and router had to be restarted before they played nice once more
I would use the airport utils and make sure the AE had the latests firmware

  • Compatibility OS X Lion and  HP 2610 all in one printer

Hi, I have an old  network printer HP Photosmart 2610 and with Snow Leopard I cannot print because system tells that software is not complete. On HP there isn't drivers and software for Snow because is included in system software. Someone has this issue? Solutions? Thanks

Not only is your older printer incompatible with the Lion; but the HP all-in-one that the local Apple stores are heavily promoting at the moment with a 100% rebate are too.  Imagine my surprise when after spending an hour in the Apple store where the helpful staff "upgraded" the operating system on my brand new iMac from Leopard to Lion, I returned home last evening to set up my new printer and learned that it is not compatible with OSX Lion.  I called the store today and they confirmed that the printers they are pushing are incompatible with the new system.  They offered to restore my computer to the Snow Leopard system if I will leave work, pack up the computer and bring it to their store.
I next tried a live chat with the Apple website.  That person was unable to provide technical support.  She referred me to Apple's customer service number, which I dialed.  After waiting on hold for ten minutes a friendly voice inquired what was my issue.  When I told her, she offered to transfer me to a technical support person only if I could tell her the Serial Number of my iMac.  Unfortunately, I am at work and the computer is at home.  I have not yet memorized that multi-digit number.
This is our first experience with an Apple computer.  We made the change from Windows based PC with some trepidation, but also with optimism based on great recent experience with an iPhone and on recommendations of many friends.  So far the experience has been incredibly poor.  I used to love lions.  But not anymore.

  • EA4500 Router and HP OJ8600 all in one printer interface questions.

Hello- I am running IE11,WIN8.1,1TB HD,12GB memory with  Linksys's EA4500 Router connected to computer via Ethernet cable.  The computer is a Lenovo desktop(K430). I ran a Troubleshoot HP installation test on the interface between the computer and EA4500.  I opened my Linksys's Smart Wi-FI to perform the two following tasks. The Troubleshoot HP Installation suggested that I should set MAC Address Filtering to Disabled which I did with no problems. The Troubleshoot HP installation also suggested that I find my printer's MAC address and add it to my list of devices that are allowed to access my networh. How do I do this? Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You should do a print configuration page from the printer and that should detail you all infomration regarding MAC and IP addressing. I recommend not using Mac Filtering as it's not needed. I recommend setting up a static IP address ON the printer, 192.168.1.86 which should be outside of the main routers default DCHP pool of .100 thru .199. You'll need to refer to the Mfr help and information on how to set up networking and the configuration of the printer. Review the User Manual as well.

  • How do I install a new airport express and link a second airport express to extend the network of the first airport express?

I currently have a linksys wireless router attached to the Internet.  I have an A1264 Airport Express connected by Ethernet to the linksys router.  I have two network names, one for each wireless network.
I purchased a new A1392 Airport Express to replace the linksys router and join to the A1264 Airport Express, and I want to have one network name as a result.
How do I do this?  I realize that I have to reconfigure the A1264 device so that it is an extension of the A1392 device.

You have a fairly complicated set up, so I suggest that it would make sense to tackle things in stages, testing each stage as  you go, before proceding to the next stage.
Stage 1 would be setting up the A1392 first to the cable modem, and then making sure that everything is working correctly on the A1392 Express
Stage 2 would be adding the Netgear switch and testing each port with a laptop connected via Ethernet to make sure that everything is operational on the switch
Stage 3 would be connecting the A1264 Express and testing to make sure that it is extending the network correctly
Stage 4 would be adding other Ethernet devices to the Netgear switch and testing each one at a time before adding the next device. There is some question about whether an iOS device can print to an Ethernet connected printer....even if the printer is AirPrint compatible. You may need to connect the HP using wireless...not Ethernet....to gain full AirPrint functionality, or use another application that will allow printing like Printopia or Print Central using the Ethernet connection on the HP.
Stage 5 would be adding the printer to the A1264 AirPort Express.
You do not mention how the printer will connect to the A1264 Express, but I assume that it will be USB from your description.  Most printers will work, but you really will not know if your printer will work until you try.
Remember that only printing will be supported at the USB port of the Express. If you have an all-in-one type device, scan, maintenance, and other advanced features will not be operational whent the device is connected to the AirPort Express.
If you want to print from an iOS device like an iPad or iPhone, plan to add additonal software like Printopia or Print Central to possibly allow this function. There are no guarantees here as far as the iOS devices.

  • AirPort Express and Canon MX310

    Hello
I am trying to setup my Canon MX310 via AirPort Express:
Today i bought the AirPort Express and everything works fine. But printing does not work at all: I usually connected my printer directly via USB to my iMac. When i did that the first time, the driver for the printer was downloaded and i was able to print. Today, i connected the printer to my AirPort Express, deleted the printer from the printer list (because it is not connected directly via USB to the iMac) and tried to print. But it does not work. There is no printer to select from the list. I already downloaded several drivers but there are still no printers available. What do I have to do now?   Do I have to download a driver first? Or should the iMac detect the printer automatically when it is connected to AirPort Extreme via USB?

Connect the Canon to the USB port on the AirPort Express
Open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock)
    Open Print & Fax
Click the + (plus) button at the bottom of the printer list
Does your printer appear in the list of devices?
If yes, click on the name of the printer to highlght it, then click Add at the lower right
If so, your printer may not be compatible, or you may not have the latest drivers from Canon.

  • Best All-In-One Printer for MacBookPro & Airport Express

I want to buy an all-in-one color printer for my office. My main computer is a new MacBook Pro with the latest OS, and my network runs on an Airport Express. I want all of the computers on the Express network to be able to print, scan, fax. etc. through the wireless network. I want a work-horse printer that has a low cost-per-page to print, I don't need a photo-quality printer. Any suggestions? I can't get my current HP LaserJet 1320tn to work at all through the Express.

    "Different strokes for different folks."
Read the reviews & system requirements of all the printers you are interested in purchasing.  My personal preference is Epson.

  • I have an airport express and want to know how to set up two different wireless networks. One with 5GHZ and one with 2.4GHZ so different devices can connect to either.

I have an airport express and want to know how to set up two different wireless networks. One with 5GHZ and one with 2.4GHZ so different devices can connect to either. I have an iphone 4 that will not connect to 5ghz.
    thank you!

Your AirPort Express is already providing two separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, but each band is using the same wireless network name.
This is the default setup for the AirPort Express, which is recommended for most users. The theory here is that devices will automatically connect to the best quality signal based on their capabilities and distance in relation to the AirPort Express.
It is possible to assign a different name to the 5 GHz band, and then "point" devices at that network to connect. Some users swear by this option.....(I am not one of them).... but you might want to give it a try to see how it works for you.
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
    Click on the AirPort Express
Click Edit in the smaller window that appears
Click the Wireless tab at the top of the next window
Click Wireless Options near the bottom of the next window
Enter a check mark next to 5 GHz Name.....which will automatically add "5 GHz" to the network name....so you can identify it
Click Save, then click Update and wait a full minute for the Express to restart
Now you will need to "point" your 5 GHz capable devices at the 5 GHz network name.  2.4 GHz devices will connect to your "other" network name.
