Alarms & Vibrate mode.

Is there a way to set an alarm to only vibrate when the vibrate switch is on? Rather embarrassing watching a movie in a movie theater only to have a car horn go off. I know I could disable the alarm for the time being but I still need to be informed of what it's for. The vibrate switch is there for a reason and there's no real reason the alarm (at least by default) should continue to use the ringer when your phone is set to vibrate only.

For the number of posts like yours, there are posts the other way around of users that use phone for alarm clock to wake up. And they set to silent to avoid calls or txts in the night but need the alarm to still go off.
If there was something you needed to remember and not really need an alarm for, use the calendar instead. Same setup, but it doesn't ignore the silent switch.

  • The alarm (as of iOS 7.0.2) does not go off when in vibrate mode

I have recently upgraded my iPhone 4S to iOS 7.0.2, and when the phone is in vibrate mode the alarms do not sound.  Instead the phone just vibrates which does not help.
The point is to silence the phone for the night, as I don't want to hear incoming calls and texts, but I do expect the alarm to go off with sound in the morning.  The alarm becomes completely useless otherwise.
Has anyone else experienced this, and is there some hidden new setting I'm unaware of to control this new behavior?

My alarm still sounds even if the phone is on mute. Have you tried resetting your device by pressing and holding the Home button and power button until the silver apple appears?
Until you get the issue resolved, have you tried using Do Not Disturb instead of putting the phone on mute? The alarm should sound when DND is set.
    Best of luck.

  • LG phone alarm/calendar on vibrate mode?

    Hello,
I want my alarm to go off on vibrate mode? Can I set my LG Octane phone so that the alarm clock goes off on vibrate mode?
    Thank you for your advice.

I think you would have to set the entire phone on vibrate mode, so ANY alerts would cause the phone to vibrate, including the alarm clock.

  • Phone ios 7 alarm vibrate

I am wondering why my phone does not vibrate when the alarm go off.
My phone is ios7 but never vibrate while the alarm go off when i sleep.
i turn off the sound since i am deaf so i just want my phone to vibrate while i sleep

    I'm wondering too!
Actually the best thing to do seems to be putting the vibrate mode OFF when iPhone is in Silent. Then use Do Not Disturb mode each night. Using the combination of these two settings, the alarm will not vibrate no more.
But I understand that it's absolutely BORING. Absolutely.
    Have a nice day!

  • How can I hear text notification in Resound hearing aid when in vibrate mode?

How can I hear text notification in Resound hearing aid when in vibrate mode?

You should turn off "Auto input monitoring". I only have L8 and there you find it under Options->audio->Auto Input monitoring. Would guess that its in the same place in L9

  • Being deaf, I rely on the vibrate mode to alert me to incoming messages. I recently obtained an iPhone 4 and I find its vibrate mode wimpy, causing me to miss calls. Is there any way to make it more robust?

Being deaf, I rely on the vibrate mode to alert me to incoming messages or reminders. I haven't had problems with my previous PDAs such as Blackberry and Motorola, but since I obtained an iPhone 4, I`ve discovered that its vibrate mode is more of a whimper than anything else. I`ve missed many calls as its vibes are indiscernible when it`s in the holster on my belt. Is there any way to make the vibes more robust? I`ve amped up the ring volume control to no avail.

No, there is no adjustment for the vibrating mode.

  • What can be wrong with my iPhone 4?  There is no sound from incoming calls, SMS and even when I play music.  I already checked that it's not muted, volume is high and not set to "vibrate mode."

    Hi there shadraza,
You may find the troubleshooting steps in the article below helpful.

Display has no backlight or dark screen
Toggle the ringer switch to see if the unit vibrates. If it does, it could be that iPhone is getting power, but is not displaying any image.
Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
While connected to the iPhone charger, try to reset the iPhone.
If the low-battery screen appears, charge the iPhone.

  • Vibrate Mode only works for phone calls -- Solution.

So, I'm sure I'm not the only person who didn't realize that the vibrate mode doesn't turn on vibration for message and app notifications.
I was having an issue where whenever I had the phone on vibrate, I was not getting notified for text messages.
I googled this, and a lot of people had the same issue. Basically, the phone would behave like it was on silent whenever a text message or other notification was recieved.
In order to fix this for text messages/voice mail - open up your messages, hit the menu button, then settings, and verify your preferences for vibration are selected.
Each Vibrate option is under the Recieved Messages, Sent Messages, and Voicemail Notification Settings.
I've noticed that every single app has it's own vibrate setting, so you have to individually go through and change them if you want vibration notifications. I don't believe they will shut off when your phone is on audible (if you're worried about battery life). I think it's only an on or off type of deal.
Anyway, hope this helps. It's given me more than a week of frustration.

Glad you posted this, I'm sure a lot of people have had this issue. Every android I've owned is like this, took me forever to figure it out the first time.

  • Is iphone 5 switch to vibrate mode malfunctioning for anyone else?

I just received a replacement Iphone 5 for my first one that had a malfunctioning speaker....  First flip to vibrate mode and it doesn't switch... didn't really notice for a day or so until today in a meeting. (BLEEP beep BLEEP)....
I noticed if I press slightly it switches to vibrate but if I remove pressure it goes back to normal mode.
Are all the new iphones going to have faulty hardware?  If so back the 4 I go. lol ... I can't really afford to have a constant 700 debit holding with apple.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I appear to be having the same problem. I never had any speaker issues but when I press around the vibrate switch it jumps back and forth between vibrate and sound mode and is rather annoying. First problem I've had with any iPhone so far and if it keeps up I might go to the Apple Store this weekend. I tried restarting, haven't restored, but somehow I don't think it is a software issue.

  • Vibration Mode Not Working

I have Pearl 8130 that is approximately 13 months old (just out of warranty of course) and the vibration mode quit working.  The day that it quit working I received a call in the morning and it worked. That afternoon no more vibration it had been on my belt the entire day and not dropped.
I have contacted my service provider and they helped me through several steps.
    1. Hard reboot.
    2. New operating software.
    3. Checked profile to make sure that the vibration alert was active.
    4. Created a new profile making sure that the vibration mode was active.
I am sure we tried some more things but right now I cannot remember what that might have been.
Does anyone have any idea of how to correct this problem???
Should I contact Blackberry and see if they can help me out?
    Thanks

You will need a USB connection to your phone and the Nokia Software Updater. More on that here : http://europe.nokia.com/softwareupdate

  • Is it possible to Mute "Say A Command" while in vibrate mode?

in vibrate mode, when the phone "should" be silent, if you pick it up and accidentally touch the voice dialing command, the voice starts talking "say a command...". my opinion is that when you are in silent/vibrate mode, this should be muted or disabled. there does not seem to be a way to do it, i looked through all the options in profiles
Any way to mute or disable the "say a command' while the phone is in vibrate mode?  I like the side button to do it so I dont want to get ride of it.

In Options>Voice Dialing change the audio prompts to disabled. This will disable it for all profiles but its a pretty quick and easy fix to change back and forth.

  • Disable Email Alerts in Vibrate Mode?

Hi. Is this possible? I've searched various forums and haven't come up with anything...
I've disabled all my messages alerts:
    > Volume - Silent
    > LED - Off
    > Vibration - Off ... And I also tried Vibration - Custom, In Holster Only
Everything works fine when I have normal ringing enabled - no email or other messages alerts. However if I go to vibrate mode, I get a double vibrate alert for every email, in or out of the holster...
    Can this be turned off?
    Thanks in advance.

You, I assume, have gone into the Sound Profile Options and set custom profiles for each of your email addresses.  That should be available on your Tour.
Although I have a Storm 9530 you should have much the same alert options.  I willl admit it took some small degree of tinkering with the options combinations before I got it to work as I wanted.  I set custom profiles but when I want NO notification either vibrate or or tone, I turn the tone to Silent and LED and Vibration to Off and it works.
Set Ring TonesAlerts>Messages>(email listings) options to set by email address you have established  the Ringtone/Volume, LED, Vibration and Notification options and you still get vibrations although you have set to either off totally or a lower count?
I have customized all four of my email addresses as to ringtone, LED and vibration profiles and can override the ringtone by opting for sounds off except for calls which takes precedence over the ringtone setting.  All other customization works flawlessly.

  • Vibrate mode only.

All of a sudden my phone will not play my ringtones when I get a call. All it does is vibrate. And yes, I have the vibrate mode turned off. I don't get the click when I select anything, and when I plug it into the docking station it does a double vibrate. I have all 6 of the bottom selections on the sounds page turned on. If I touch the slider on the sounds page the audio works good. I have tried a reset on the general page to no avail. Anybody seen this before.

Thanks I checked it earlier and it was correct. I must have changed it trying all the other things I could think of.

  • How to make an alarm vibrate with no sound?

I have several alarms that I want to go off during the day but I want some of them to only vibrate, with no sound. I have found that the alarm section in the Clock application lets you either have vibration and a ringtone, or no sound at all. Any thoughts on how to do this? I'd rather not fill my calendar with dots because of one alarm that happens every day. Thanks!

Hmmm...i came to the forums hoping to find an answer to the same question. making a silent alarm in garage band is brilliant, but rather elaborate, when, in that case when you know you want a silent alarm, you could just choose "none" under "Sound" when setting the alarm. (you'll still get a nice pretty pop-up on screen.)
but there seems to be no solution to setting up an alarm, and then later having it go off in a meeting or movie and annoying you and everyone else around, instead of vibrating. (similar to the fact that it sounds when you are in the middle of a call. LOL)
while i can appreciate the fact that one may want to be notified of alarms even if the phone is silent, and not on your person (so you wouldn't feel the vibration), i think the current way that it works is silly. when i turn on a silence switch, i expect the phone not to make any noise. my old LG (now my second favorite phone company since i got my iPhone) had a setting named "alarm only" so i could silence the phone but not the alarms...otherwise they would vibrate.
hope Apple reads this and fixes it in a future update. with all these wonderful, easily accessible option screens, it should be easy to add one that allows us to choose "vibrate" or "ring" when silent for alarms. or better yet, whenever the phone is switched to silent with the switch, there is a pop-up that gives a choice "Silence alarms? (No) (Yes)"
considering it's been stated that alarms vibrate on the first iPhone, would this be considered a feature downgrade? guess it depends on your perspective.
