Alerts in CRM!!!

Hi Folks
We are working on Actions and Alert Management in SAP CRM 4.0. There are certain problems which we are facing.
Our requirement is to trigger an alert and restrict is to a particular partner function.
The requirement is to send an alert to a custom partner function once a particular transaction is executed (in our case it is Opportunity creation).
We have made the necessary customizing in the alerts management (selection of Alert Category as ‘New or Won Opportunities’). Also, in the action, we have defined the processing type as ‘Method Call’ and in the method; we have specified ‘TRIGGER_ALERT’. In the processing parameter, we have set the structure as ‘SALRTSCUST’ and in the field; we have specified ‘CATEGORY’. In the initial value, we have defined ‘CRM_ACQ_INTEREST’
We are facing two problems:
1.     We are not able to trigger this alert at all for any partner function including employee responsible (which is the standard partner function for any Alert.)
2.     Also we need to restrict this Alert to our custom partner function.
Kindly provide some inputs on the above mentioned problems.
Also, it would be nice if you can guide us how we can substitute Alerts by ‘Email’
Regards
Sunil

Hi Gregor
Many thanks for the valuable input. As you said, i m making my first requirement more clear here.
We want to send an alert to a particular partner function that is custom created. He/she should be able to see it in 'Acquisitons--> Home' in EP in the iview 'Alerts List' or some other place. We want to send it on the creation of every new opportunity. We have downloaded the packages mentioned in SAP Note 760472 but still we have not been able to see the alerts in EP so far.

  • CRM 4.0 alerts in CRM 2007

We had configured a number of alerts in CRM 4.0.  We have recently upgrade our system to CRM 2007 and these alerts no longer work in the CRM 2007 web IC.  is there a conversion process or do these need to be recreated from scratch?  Any documentation on this topic?
I look forward to your response on this issue.
    Regards
    Eddie

    Hello Eddie,
Yes, in general alerts, interactive scripts, navlinks, and other items need to be recreated in when moving from CRM 2005 (or lower) to CRM 2006s/CRM 2007 or higher. In the case of the alerts, the old XML based alerts (used in CRM 4.0) and the newer IMG configuration based alerts (CRM 5.0) are both replaced by a new BSP-based tool called the Alert Editor -- which is available in the IC Manager busines role. The new alerts use the new target ID navigation concept, which is part of the reason the old alerts don't work anymore (for alerts which contain navigation links).
    Warm regards,
    John

  • IC Alerts in CRM 2007

    Hi All,
Im trying to create an alert in CRM 2007. Im not familiar with Rule Modeler to assign the alert so what I did is to use rule-based alerts (same as what we have in CRM5.0). Ive already added the event name to event repository CRM_IC_EVENT. It is triggering the alert class that Ive done but no alert being displayed in IC. Im not sure if we missed activating some ICF node or if this java version problem. Please enlighten me on how to proceed with this and if there's another option on creating an alert.
Thank you so much for any input that you can provide.
    Joan

    Hi Gert
Thanks for the reply. Would you be kind enough to give me details/steps on how to raise an alert using rule modeler? That would be very helpful.
    Thanks so much.

  • Trigger alert modeler CRM IC based on SAP ISU information

    Hi experts,
My current client will start a trial with smart meters shortly. These meters will be registered in SAP ISU as devices with a specially reserved device type.
Device type is not replicated to CRM, but the call center wishes to receive an alert in IC alert modeler if a customer has a smart meter placed.
    My questions:
    - Is it possible to trigger an alert based on information in another system?
    - If so, what would be the best approach (with rough indication of effort involved)?
    - How can this custom made check be used within the alert modeler?
Alternatively, we could create a special marketing attribute for these customers, but standard SAP cannot use marketing attributes assigned to a Business Partner either. So the question how to integrate custom check within alert modeler remains relevant for this scenario as well.
Thank you in advance for your help.
    Regards,
    Jeroen

  • Alerts in CRM 2007

I'm wondering if anyone has worked with the alerts much in CRM 2007.  I was able to successfully set up an alert and rule policy assigned to a business role so as to see the alert in ic web client upon confirming a business partner.
1).  We have a multi-client dev system, qa, prod systems etc. and I can see that you can transport the alerts via t-code CRMD_IC_TRANS_ALERT.   What about the actual rule policy that I created in IC_MANAGER role?  I do not see a way to transport this.  Must I manually recreate the rules in all my systems and clients?  Our alerts are static, and it is important they remain in synch through out our landscape.
2).  Anyone have any luck with changing colors of the alerts either with foreground or background color?  Our business desires the alerts to stand out more from the other text.
    Thanks,
    Pam Crissman

    Hi Pam,
To answer the first part of your question:
    1) Use the report CRM_RULE_TRANS to transport rules from one system to another.
    2) I havent used much of the alert functionality in terms of changing the look and feel but will get back to you soon.
    Reward points if it helps,
    Thanks,
    Anand

  • Alert in crm when the order is changed in ecc

    HI All,
When an ECC order is changed/cancelled then an alert should be generated in the alert inbox of the crm user. Please suggest if such a scenario is possible. We dont have XI in place.
In such scenarios can we have the alert category defined in the ECC system and the alert triggered from CRM system by pointing the rfc connection in SALRT1 to crm system.
    Please suggest.

    Hey
Please open this question in ECC forum since this is not part of XI.
To answer your question, you should be able to achieve this by configuring CCMS on ECC or on Solution manager.
    Thanks

  • Alerts from CRM system

    Hi,
    My scenario is WS>XI>ABAP proxy.
I want to configure alerts for all errors in XI and CRM.
I know that i can configure Alerts for XI box, which will trigger if any errors in SXMB_MONI of XI box.
But how and where to configure to trigger alert if something goes wrong in CRM box SXMB_MONI.
Can i use the same alerts configured in XI box?
For my case do i need to configure CCMS? or can i do with out CCMS??

You can either use CCMS or alternately consider using Fault Messages in your ABAP Proxy.
Would suggest if there is some application error that you want alerts to be triggered for, you use Fault Messages.
A SDN search on blogs for Fault Messages should give you a better idea.

  • Container values not appearing in alerts - SAP CRM 7.0

    Hi Experts,
    I have 2 issues:
    1. I am calling an alert on lead creation by calling an action with processing type as TRIGGER ALERT.
The alert appears on the home page but the container values defined in the long text are not appearing. The containers defined are as follows:
    OBJECT_ID - Object type - BUS2000108 - business transacton number
    Call later date - Z field in CRMD_ORDERADM_H - structure - CRMD_ORDERADM_H - Field Zabcd
Please let me know if there is something i'm missing or if i need to define these values in the Method TRIGGER ALERT???
    2. If i want to call this action on a particular date (call later date as above), is it possible to take the reference of this date in the start condition?
    Regards
    Nitin Sehgal

    Dear Nitin,
The first I am not sure, so hopefully someone else can help you with that.
For the second, If you want a Z-field to be used in the action conditions, you should add an attribute to your BOR-object in SWO1.
How to do this can be found here.

    Hope it helps...

  • How to configure IC winclient alert modeler - CRM 5.0

We are wanting to assign a marketing attribute against certain customers, to have them flagged within CIC0 that any incoming calls from them need to be forwarded to one particular person within our organisation. The alert modeler would work well for this, where it would display an alert on these certain customers.
I have figured out most of how to do this, in terms of components to turn on in IMG. However, I want the Alert Modeler Editor to pick up a marketing attribute I have defined (I have set a profile to retrieve the marketing attribute already - using tx CRMC_CIC_BP_PROFILE), and have it display either the text held against the attribute (have set the att as a chara), or else pick up a name held against the attribute and display set text - as an example "All calls are to be forwarded to <name>" where <name> is held against the marketing attribute set. Can anyone assist with this part? At present, in CIC0 I have now displaying the name of the customer in the Call processing area (we don't use this for call processing). I don't want the name to display, I want the above text instead.
I think i need to set some rules in the rule modeler itself, but am not sure how to do this - sample code would be greatly appreciated as well!
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Cara,
In order to make use of the Marketing attributes in CIC Alert Modeler, please make sure the following customizing entires are maintained properly:
    1) You need to first create the attributes using the transaction 'crmd_prof_char'.
Just create an attribute(say for eg., BP_MAIN) with some description, format and Number of chanracters and then save the attribute.
    2) Now, create a profile template (attribute set) using the transaction 'crmd_prof_templ'.
Just create an attribute(say for eg., BP_MAIN_SET) with some description, authorization, etc., and once
this is done, you need to assign the attribute just got created in step 1 and then save the attribute set.
    3) Assign this attribute set(profile template) which got created in step 2 to a Business partner(for which the marketting attributes are to be set) using the transaction 'crmd_prof_bp' and maintain his attribute values.
    4) Create target groups and assign business partner:
Using the transaction 'crmd_mktseg', you can create the Target Group as follows:
-> Right mouse click in the top right field and choose 'Create Profile Set'.
-> In the Popup, just give some description and then click on the green check mark.
-> Now right mouse click in the top right field 'create target group' -> Right mouse click on the new group, goto the properties and then provide some description of the target group.
-> Right mouse click on the new group, and choose Open target group.
-> Add business partner to the target group with button 'Add'.
    5) In transaction CRMC_CIC_BP_PROFILE, maintain your own 'Retrieval Profile'.
-> Decide if the data should be read asynchronously
-> Decide if the target groups should be read
-> Decide which profile templates should be read (insert your own created attribute set via F4)
-> Decide which BW key figures should be read (optional).
    6) Change your CIC Profile and insert the following Profile Categories apart from the Alert Modeler Profile(ALRT_MODLRX):
-> COMPANY_PROF = your newly created business partner retrieval profile
-> CONTACT_PROF  = your newly created business partner retrieval profile
    7) Change your CIC Framework ID and insert the following Components as part of the Hidden Components:
    COMPANY_PROF
    CONTACT_PROF
Please follow the above mentioned steps in accordance with your own BP Marketing attribute and I hope this way will fetch the value of the Marketing attribute of the respective BP during confirmation in CIC, with which the Alert Message can be triggered.
    Hope this information helps !
    With Best Regards,
    Vinod

From your error, maybe your profile parameter for alert message server is not properly configured:
I just came cross a post elaborating alerting configuration from Aashish Sinha, hope it helps,
    Liang
    =====Post from Aashish Sinha=======
    Prerequisites
The following prerequisites have to be met in order to use the Alert Management (ALM):
    · For using the Alert Inbox (BSP based display program of ALM), the corresponding service has to be activated in the service maintenance transaction SICF. Choose Default_host ? sap ? bc ? bsp ? sap ? alert inbox, and Activate in the context menu.
    · For customizing or administration of the Alert Management the corresponding authorization role has to be assigned. The end users do not need any additional authorization.
    · The central alert server must be maintained as an RFC destination in transaction SM59 in the local system. If there is no suitable user, you have to create a user for the RFC connection in the central alert system in transaction SU01. To make this RFC destination known as the RFC destination of the Alert Management System in the local system, the central alert server must also be selected as the RFC destination in transaction SALRT1 of the local system or in Settings ? RFC-Destination of Alert Server.
If the central alert server is running on the local system in the same client, you do not have to maintain an RFC destination. In this case, you can simply enter NONE in transaction SALRT1.
    · If external communication types, such as e-mail, SMS, and fax are used, these communication types must be correctly configured in SAPconnect, because the alerts are then sent from the central alert system via SAPconnect.
    Process Flow
The following describes the process flow from alert configuration (transaction ALRTCATDEF) to alert display and confirmation (for example in the alert inbox transaction ALRTINBOX):
    1. Optional: You can define alert classifications. These are useful to group alert categories. For example, you can create an alert classification CRM that contains alert categories referring to CRM. Alert classifications can now have subclassifications. This enables you to build up your own classification hierarchy. Especially, if you use the Alert Mangement (ALM) extensively, classification and subclassification help you to organize your ALM alert landscape and to have a clear overview.
    2. For different types of alerts you have to define different categories. The category contains various properties and other specifications that define the alerts within that category, for example expiry date, or the escalation recipient. You can define an alert category to suit your business requirements and assign the category to the corresponding classification. For example, for the alert classification CRM you can create the alert categories Contract Cancelled and Decrease in Sales. When the critical situation defined in the alert category arises, the system recognizes this and sends an alert instance of this category to the recipients determined. The alerts can always be found in the display programs configured for the recipient (UWL, application-specific program, or alert inbox). Additionally, the alerts are sent via eventual external communication channels, such as e-mail, sms, or fax.
    3. You have to determine recipients so that the Alert Management knows who the recipients of alerts of a particular category are and that the correct parties are informed.
    4. You can configure the way how alerts are processed. For the general use of the Alert Management you do not have to change the default settings. However, if for example you want to send alerts to third-party systems, or to be able to confirm alerts by SMS/Internet mail, or to have logs written, then you have to configure alert processing.
    5. There is a number of Alert Management administration reports that you must schedule according to your requirements. For example, report RSALERTPROC must be executed in order to enable escalation.
    6. Alerts of a particular category must be triggered by an application at runtime. Triggering alerts can be done in various ways. You can call a function module directly or use middleware components that trigger alerts, such as the Business Object Repository (BOR), Post Processing Framework (PPF), SAP Workflow, or CCMS.
    7. Recipients can view the alerts assigned to them in the UWL of Enteprise Portal, in application-specific display programs, or in the alert inbox. In addition, alerts can be received as e-mail, SMS, or fax, if these external communication channels are configured in SAPconnect.
    8. If the problem causing the alert is solved by a recipient, the recipient can confirm the alert, this means its status is changed and it will not be delivered, escalated, or displayed anymore. Alerts are generally confirmed by the recipient in the display program, such as the UWL or Alert Inbox. However, if an alert is sent by Internet mail or SMS message, it is also possible to confirm it by sending an Internet mail or SMS message back to the SAP system. Alert Management uses inbound processing for this.
    Hope this will help you.

  • Alert Framework Creation...

    Hi All,
In our current production environment all the alerts of different functional tracks are coming to the admins assigned under fixed reciepients(under alrtcatdef). Now we are planning to segregate these alerts based upon different functional tracks like CRM,HCM etc.
Request you all to help me and provide the best possible way to achieve this like is there any option so that that i can define any rules(under Alert configuration in RWB) based upon the software component versions( actually i dont want to use sender namespace option becoz there are so many namespaces anywayz if i wont fine any solution this will be the last option)
And one more thing to choose different sender or receiver namespaces(under RWB Alert Configuration) do we also need to create diiferent alert category(under ALRTCATDEF)???
Request you all to please help.
    Thanks
    Amit

And one more thing to choose different sender or receiver namespaces(under RWB Alert Configuration) do we also need to create diiferent alert category(under ALRTCATDEF)???
Not required. We can use the same the same alert categories in multiple rules.
is there any option so that that i can define any rules(under Alert configuration in RWB) based upon the software component versions
The alert rules cannot be defined with software component version as condition.
planning to segregate these alerts based upon different functional tracks like CRM,HCM etc
Create classifications for different tracks and use 'receipients via user roles' instead of fixed receipients.
Assign authorization for classifications based on track based roles.
For example, CRM classification alert category should be defined with CRM specific roles so that only they can receive the alerts for CRM interfaces.
