All cost elements picked up while performing KSS2

Hi Guru's,
I have a splitting structure where in the assignments related to cost element and activity type have been done correctly.
Now when I am trying to execute KSS2 for thiscost center , It gives me the details for cost elements besides the range which i have specified while assigning. The postings on these cost elements have been broken into different activity types as per function.. But my question is if we have specified exact range of cost elements through groups why is the system picking other cost elements to which postings have been made in this Cost center.
Thanks.
Kind Regards,
Neeraj Gupta

Hi,
you need to use a splitting scheme in which,
if you want to exclude from calculation a specif cost element,
you need to insert a specific rule "no splitting".
Simply not defining one cost element in your splitting structure
does not mean it will be automatically excluded.
If you do not exclude your cost elements e x p l i c e t el y the system
will consider the default rule, "equivalence numbers".
Please also check SAP notes 772794 and 721487 carefully as they describe the process

  • Service activity creation & automatic cost element picking up

    Dear All,
We are facing a peculiar problem while creating a service activity in Project creation - CJ20N (Project Builder).
    1)     Created a project definition. ( say u2013 X200)
    2)     Created parent WBS element.
    3)     Created one Network.
    4)     Assigned one service activity to the network.
    5)     While assigning service master to the service activity, system is asking for a cost element. In other words, the cost element is not automatically picked up for the particular service master. Actually, while creating earlier project (say X100) & assigning service activity, system is correctly defaulting the Cost element.
    6)     Here the service number which we are using is the same as used in the earlier project (X100). In X100, based on the valuation class in the service master & settings maintained in the transaction code OBYC, correct GL account is getting picked up.
    7)     We can give the cost element manually. If we do this, system is giving another message u2013 u201CSystem could not determine a consumption account for service 2000000202u201D, though it is maintained for the valuation class in OBYC.
Why the cost element is not getting defaulted? Pl advice in this regard.
    Thanks & regards,
    Gov

Check out the Network profile & Plant of of both the project
Case 1 X100   May be getting defaulted from  network profile
Case2 X 200   You might be using different network profile where you would have not maintained  CE.

  • Default Cost element pick up despite there is no setting in config.defined

    Hi,
During external services(control key PM03), system picks up default cost element in maintenance order. Irony is that I have set no default cost element in "External procurement service in Config". I have also checked there is no default user data, despite this default cost element system picks up.
Please suggest me what to do.
    Thanks & Regards
    D.Singh

Once you enter the control key PM03, you will get pop up for maintaining material group. If you have defined the material group in config, cost element will be picked up from that.
Cost element will be picked up from the Material group which you mentioned in Order or in config.

  • Cost Element Report for all cost objects

    Hello,
Is there any standard SAP report where it can list down all cost elements, and their line item/total postings done to various CO Objects in one shot.
We have CE/CCTR, CE/IO, etc, but if we can have one report which can list all cost elements and postings done via it to different cost objects - cost centers, internal orders, WBS, etc, might be very handy to us.
    Thanks
    Balla

    Hi Balla,
Please use S_SL0_21000007 for your requirement.
It gives cost element postings to different cost objects.

  • Report for Missing Cost Elements

    Hello Friends
I want to know if there is any report which shall give the list of missing cost elements in the system. I mean I want to know the list of primary cost elements that are still not created in the system as compared to P&L account GLs(Hence such cost elements need to be created now)
    Thank you in advance
    Best Regards
    Prashant S

    Hi,
T-Code KAH3, enter cost element group that covers all cost elements so far, go to "Extras / Check and Help functions / Check completeness". The "missing" primary cost elements are displayed, but ensure, that they really should be created as cost element.

  • Condition Type with cost element category 1

    Dear Sap expert,
I have costing based copa and I am running make to stock scenario.
SD team added new condition type in their pricing.
This condition type is mapped to FI GL account which is a cost account (cost element category 1) while the other condition type in SD pricing is cost element category 11 or 12.
I mapping this cost account to a cost center in OKB9.
But when SD run billing, there is an error message :
    "Prof.segment for prim.cost elements not advisable for costing-based CO-PA" .
I don't mapped this new condition type to copa value field.
But Why does this error come?
    Please help me.
    Regards

    Hi Anu
This is standard behaviour... Once you have COPA active, the Prof Segment gets derived when you create Sales Order...
So, any posting that happens from Billing, gets assigned to this Prof Segment...
The design is such that you cant post to COPA using Catg 1 cost element....
So, if you are posting to this GL account from SD Billing, you need to have it as Catg 11 or 12.... If you dont want to post it to COPA, then do not post to this GL from SD billing.. Post it from FI side...

  • Cost element groups and conrtolling area.

    Dear Experts,
Is there any possible way I can find out which all cost element groups are coming under a controlling area?
In KAH3 when i press F4 i dont have the selection parameter as controlling area.
If not stadard transaction any table?
    regards
    Paul

    Hello,
When you are working under a controlling area, your controlling area will be set. Otherwise, set your controlling area in OKKS. You cannot work parallely under two controlling areas without setting controlling area.
Obviously, you will see the cost element groups created under that controlling area. When you press F4 on cost element groups, you must be getting controlling area and must have been greyed out.

  • Activity types cost Elements not reflecting in Cost Centre Report.

    Hello SAP Gurus,,
    1. Here we are facing one issue in Zreport. total is not matching, compare with KSB1.
Values are more in Zreport, in other words activity type cost elements are not reflecting in Zreport, but it reflecting in KSB1.
    example: flow from PM module.
Actually we had used logic based on the Cost Centres, in that cost centre by taking Object number and it passes to COEP table, then we are getting values as same as KSB1.
As per investigation i found that the object number is differ from COEP table and CSKS table.
Exapmple : 1410000 object number in CSKS table, 1410000EL in COEP table, thats why in Zreport these values are not reflecting. Finally our requirment is , Zreport values should same as KSB1 vlaues.
    2. We need same functionality as same as KSB1 for match code or drop down menu functionality for Cost Centre Group and Cost Element Group,  but while user wants select from match code or drop menu (F4), as of now i didnt given any logic to abap for match code functionality or drop down menu (F4),so in this case which logic or table i have to use.
So please give me inputs or logic how to over come the above points.
    Regards,
    Raj.

The OBJNR field structure is as follows :-
    AABBBBCCCCCCCCCCDDDDDD
AA = object type eg. KS (cost center)
    BBBB = controlling area
    CCCCCCCCCC = cost center
    DDDDDD = activity type
Based on the structure, you will be able to filter the relevant cost center/activity types. You can also use other fields eg. cost element, partner object, source object, value type, etc. to get your desired figures as per KSB1.

  • Mass update of cost element description - edit a table

    Hi Folks,
i would like to know wich is the best way to update thousand of description of cost element!
this is due to the fact that i have 4 differents languages to manage....so every time it's necessary to enter them in 4 languages, but the problem was that nobody have done like this, so now i have discrepancy at description level and i want to update...quickly.
i was thinking about table editing in CSKA i know it's not the right way to procede but it's only description and i don't want to spent time in making catt....
In any case i would know wich is the command to edit  a table, for my knowledge.
    Thanks

    Hi,
To edit a table type &sap_edit in the transaction window, while being in SE16N and entering the table. However, the right table for texts is CSKU and not CSKA.
Alternatively, you can do mass creation of cost elements 4 times while log-on in different table (OKB2 and OKB3 transactions).
    Regards,
    Eli

  • Cost Center Assessment - cost element type 42

    Hi dear All,
I got issues running KSU5 to allocate planned costs under cost element type 42. we were expecting that all planned costs (primary and secondary(cost element type 42)) could be allocated by credit cost center (actual). only primary costs are being allocated.
    Scenario:
cost center planning (kp06) 1000 currencies in primary cost element in cost center A
running planning assessment - KSUB: cycle uses assessment cost element (type 42): sender cost center A, receiver cost center B (all planned values). assessment cyles posts 1000 currencies from CC A to cost center B
planning in cost center B (primary cost elements through kp06, 500 currencies) total planning 1000 from previous assessment  with CE type 42, and 500 from cc planning in a primari CE.
by the period end closing, tcode KSU5 (allocation actual) is running. new cycle created, based on planned values (origini not actual, but planned amounts).
we were expecting to allocate 1500 currencies from cost center B to cost center C (using 100% and through assessment cost element)).
result: credit actual cost center B = 500 currencies debit actual cost center C = 500 currencies.
1000 currencies pending on cost center B (planned).
do you know why SAP is not allocating the 1000? even if those 1000 were planned in cost center B by assessement, a new allocation cycle should be able to post them or not?
    thank you for your outcome.

Hi dear Ajay, thank you for your answer.
first, I understand the difference between KSUB and KSU5, in the defined scenario, we have both. planned values, become actual with the MEC activities. business definition.
regarding the cycle, I have setup assessment cost element so we can get all planned lines posted as 1.
On sender tab I have only the cost center. no cost element defined.
    receiver its cost center.
furthermore, i've not setup allocation structure, so all cost elements should be allow, there is no restriction on this.
the only difference is: planned costs which their origin is already an assessment are not being assessed again.
I can show you the print screens with cycles setup if it helps
    best regards

  • Is it possible to display cost element , being categorized as '12'?

    Hi CO Guru,
I am trying to query 'S_ALR_87012997' cost element by order.
but it just shows only cost element being categorzied as a primary cost.
Is it possible to display cost elements being categorized  '12'-sales deduction in this report?
If not, how could it be possible to show cost elements-'being defined as 12' sales-deduction  by order type?
    Sincerely.
    Jimmy

    Hi,
Cost Element Category 12 is assigned only for Primary costs.  Secondary Costs are basically assigned with 21, 31, 41 till 61.  Pl. clarify whether you have created the cost element as Primary.  The report which you had mentioned is a standard report which normally displays all cost elements.  If you still face the problem, you can copy that report and write a new report with the value fields required.
    Thanks
    Krishna.

  • Setting of Cost Element category

    Hi Experts
I have a query around whether to set particular accounts as Category Primary Cost Elements (1) or Revenue Elements (11).
We are a financing business and generally split our P&L into Income, Expenses and Bad Debt.  Currently all cost elements under Bad Debt are defined as 1 Primary Cost Elements but this means that the business need to enter a cost centre when posting to the accounts.
The business have argued that they do not need to analyse Bad Debt by cost centre - simply by Profit Centre, in the same way as Income.
    Can you tell me:
Is it possible / advisable to change the Bad Debt cost elements from being Primary Cost Elements to being Revenue Cost Elements?
What are the implications if we make this change?
    Thanks
    Gareth

    Thanks Venkat
Apart from the process of changing the COst Element Category, is it advisable for 'Bad Debt accounts' to be classified as Revenue elements in CO?
The accounts are expense accounts in FI.  Are there any implications in classifying them as Revenue elements?
Will changing them to be Revenue elements:
mean we are no longer required to populate Cost Centre?
still enforce the recording of Profit Centre for transactions posted there?
    Thanks
    Gareth
