All networks in Airport dropdown menu are locked. Help

All networks in Airport dropdown menu are locked. They have the closed lock symbol beside them. How do I unlock them so that I can change the security settings. They are currently WPA Personal. I need them to be WPA2 Personal and can't change them.

I'm using a linksys wcg200, so "passphrase" doesn't work for me with apple using a different algorithm to generate them. I have to use the actual WEP key. If I prefix the WEP key with 0x, it still doesn't work. I just bought this machine today, and it came with 10.4 installed. I was able to connect to the Linksys before I did a clean install, but now I can't provide the password (it doesn't like the WEP key as the password).

If the iPad is running iOS 7 and the kid set up Find My IPad, then you can't restore it without the kid's Apple ID and password. The Activation Lock is a feature that people whined and whined to get, and is causing exactly the sort of problems many of us predicted when people were clamoring for it. If you can't get the kid's Apple ID, you'll have to call Apple Support and ask if they have any sort of workaround. My guess is that they'll have to replace the iPad, but they may have a solution they don't talk about publicly.
This won't help for iPads currently locked for which you can't get the Apple ID, but if before you give out iPads to your students you go into the Restrictions and disallow changes to the accounts, they can't then turn in Find My iPad. Or you can set up Find My iPad yourselves to your own accounts and then lock the Restrictions so they can't set iCloud up to an account to which you don't have the Apple ID.

Home Sharing Problem: Import Button & "Show" Dropdown menu are missing?

Hi Everyone,
My wife and I are both running iTunes on Macbook Pros and we are both logged into eachother's iTunes libraries through Home Sharing accounts. However, the Import button on the bottom has disappeared, so has the "Show" dropdown menu that is typically to the left of the Import button on the bottom of the screen when you are in the other person's Music Library. The Show dropdown memu typically displays the options: All and Not in Library. We can play and listen to each other's music, however we can't Import songs. Can anyone help me troubleshoot this problem??

To clarify as I have this problem repeatedly here is the description and the cure.
Sharing is enabled in the sharing tab. Other computers can see this computers library but cannot import. The icon for the home sharing doesn't show the "house" - it just shows some musical notes.
This means that home sharing is not enabled. JUST SHARING.
In Itunes 11 use: File/Menu/Home Sharing/Turn on Home sharing.
But you are not done.
When home sharing shows up now in the left panel - click it. The right panel will present a sign on for your apple ID. Sign on and enable home sharing.
Then you will be able to import form the target computer again.
It gets disabled with OS upgrades and sometimes with iTunes updates.

Fonts in dropdown menu are invisible

I have Firefox 3.6.12 and am working on a Macbook Pro. I have organized all my bookmarks into folders, but there is still a long list of websites listed on the Address Bar BookMark dropdown menu. Please help!

(Note: I have deleted all Cached items on HD and User area.)

Follow the steps,
For Windows user,
1. Goto Bookmark backup module in firefox window.
2. Then select Documents and Settings Folder
3. Choose user account folder Ex: User
4. Then goto "Application Data" folder
5. Then choose "Mozilla"
6. Goto "Firefox"
7. Then goto "Profiles"
8. Choose "jj8doebi.default"
9. Then goto "bookmarkbackups"
10. Select the .JSON file that you want to restore the backup
Note that in order to visible the "Application Data" folder, you have to un-select "hide protected operating system files" option in Folder option.

I need to be able to extract all values from the dropdown menu; I know how to get all those values as a string, but I need to be able to access each item; (the value in a dropdown menu will change dynamically)
How do I get number of item is selection dropdown?
How do I extract a ?name? for each value, one by one?
How do I change a selection by referring to particular index of the item in a dropdown menu?

The findElement method allows various attributes to be used to search. Take the following two examples for the element below:

I can find the element based on its name or any other attribute, I just need to specify what I am looking for. To find it by name I would do the following:
Set x = RSWApp.om.FindElement("ProdType","SELECT","Name")
If I want to search by id I could do the following:

Usually you will use whatever is available. Since the select element has no name or ID on the Empirix home page, I used the onChange attribute. You can use any attribute as long as you specify which one you are using (last argument in these examples)
You can use the FindElement to grab links, text boxes, etc.
The next example grabs from a link on a page

On G4 System Preferences, Network, I have a dropdown menu that says that my settings have been altered by another application and won't go away when I click ok, I can't work in the Network preferences and it won't respond to be closed. Have to Force Quit

On G4 Powerbook System Preferences, Network, have a dropdown menu that says this has been configured by another application. when press OK it keeps coming on & can't work in System Preferences. It won't even respond to Quit System Preferences and I have to Force Quit to close System Pref.

To stop the pop-up, Go to System Preferences: Security. Check the box next to "Require password to unlock each secure system preference." Then lock Security.

After using Macs for a number of years at both school and work, I finally ordered an iMac G5 of my own. When the DualDiscs came out I bought a few because I wnated all the content I could get. Attempting to play them on my iMac at work however, proved problematic. The audio side would spin for a few seconds then eject. I was slightly annoyed, but settled for playing the DVD audio versions of the albums as I worked. In my car stereo, the audio would work, but any other player it would not.
When my personal iMac came, I expected the same problem- only the DVD side would play. Imagine my surprise when every DualDisc I attempted to rip (Switchfoot, Bruce Springsteen, Rob Thomas, Ben Folds, The Wallflowers, Oasis, David Gray) in iTunes was read and successfully ripped.
So I wonder this- is it as much a problem with older Superdrives not being able to read the thicker discs as anything else?
Or am I an anomaly

Power Macintosh 7500/100 thinks all floppies are locked.

My new (to me) Power Macintosh 7500/100 is thinking all disks I put in it are locked. Is there a way to fix this without replacing the drive?

This is how I clean floppy drives:
1) Remove floppy drive from the computer.
2) Remove the cover.
3) Use a can of compressed air, making sure all the loose dust is gone.
4) Use cotton swabs to reach the tighter spots, making sure all dirt is cleaned out.
5) Lubricate the mechanism and springs with 3-in-1 multipurpose oil, a silicone grease or something similar. Do not use WD-40 or white lithium grease - these won't last long.
6) Reassemble the drive and install it back into the computer.
7) Use a floppy drive cleaning diskette/kit to clean the read/write heads of the drive. Although this can be done manually with rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab, it is more safe to use a cleaning diskette because you cannot damage the drive this way. If doing it manually, please be careful and don't stretch the read/write head spring too far - otherwise, the upper read/write head will never go down again.
If you follow these easy procedures, your drive should be good as new. Good luck!

Adobe Acrobat dropdown menu font is very small

I updated Adobe Acrobat and now all the fonts in my dropdown menu are small - is there a way to change these?

It is all the drop down menus. The font in the documents are ok so it would not be “page display”

How do I remove the "Dock" option from the Apple Dropdown Menu

I work for a school district where I am continuosly having to go back into Mac labs and reverting the settings on the dock back to normal. Students are changing the size, position and content of the dock, as well as hiding the dock. These computers are used by students k-6 and the younger children are getting confused when they com in and they cannot find the dock or its not where it is supposed to be. I have been able to lock the sizing, position and content of the dock but am not finding a way to elimante the hiding of the dock. Preferably I would like to remove the "dock option from the Apple dropdown menu. Please help!!!!

This question was asked quite a while ago and the suggestion was to use Server Admin Tools, which I know nothing about. You'll have to look into that. If these Macs are running off a server, then this might work for you. I'm seeing that Server Admin Tools from Apple is still current.

Little website symbols at left of site names in Bookmarks have disappeared in dropdown menu

These are the individual small square symbols identifying the website. They are present when checking under "show all bookmarks" in the dropdown menu [which opens the info files], but not present as they were previously in the individual link lines in the dropdown menu.

Built-in network capabilities disabled by admin. All mechanical functions are locked up. Help!

I accidentally clicked on HP Utilities (from my Macbook) the "Disenable All" botton for HP printer & scanner. Now all of the functions (such as wireless communication) and features (every bottons on printer's touchscreen) are locked up.
The message shown on touchscreen specifies "Contact the system adminstrator or the person who set up the printer".
Where can I access the "adminstrator" command directory? On my Macbook? Or via HP user's account online? Or some sort of password key-in assigned to the OfficeJet Pro 6835 on the printer itself? It's very confusing that nowhere can I find the "adminstrator" directory from all of the above.
Without a solution, I've searched all over HP online support, read the OJ Pro 6835 manuel, as well as followed the steps for hard-reset, and tried to re-boot the pritner with router cable. Yet the printer is still loked up and the wireless icon still dimmed. So then last attempt is I un-installed HP printer application from my Macbook and tried to re-install the software again, now I got "the installation failed" message. To this point, I don't know what to do.
P.S. Only I wished HP could have designed a "reset" botton on the machine, so to prevent the "deadlock" issues and make the user experiences more firendly.

System Preferences>Network- Unlock padlock. Highlight Airport. Network Name-select your name. Click on the Advanced button. Airport/Preferred Networks-delete all that is not your network.
Place a check mark next to "Remember networks this computer has joined." Click the OK button and lock the padlock. Restart your computer.

What are the downsides to extending an Airport Express's network with Airport Extreme?

Or are there downsides at all, assuming latest generation Airports? I think it happens more often than not that the position of the modem from your ISP in the dwelling is not the ideal location for a router, and it is sometimes inconvenient/impossible to wire an ethernet connection to the optimal location. I have an Airport Extreme and an Airport Express, and was thinking of hooking up the Express to the modem and having the Extreme extend that network, placed at the optimal router location. My concern with that setup is whether the Extreme will use all of its antennas, since the Express has fewer (6 vs 2 if I'm correct).

There are none. You might be confusing such a "wirelessly extended" network with a WDS, which was a horrible compromise with significant disadvantages.
The optimal location for the second AirPort might not be obvious. Keep in mind that it can only "wirelessly extend" the signal it is capable of receiving. Place it in a location where the wireless signal created by the main router remains strong, while still being able to create a network that covers your required wireless service area.
Don't worry about the number of antennas or how they are used. They're all used.
