  • How to get a Field for Selection in 8 Datasource

    Hello All,
We have a scenario where in we need to change the Generated Export Datasource (8Z******) and check one more field for Selection, so that it appears in the Data Selection tab in InfoPackage.
But I am not able to do that. I tried to change the transfer Structure for the same but to no luck. I also tried to change the Data Source in RSA6, but even that dint helped.
In Ideal cases it should have taken all the Characteristic fields as Selection when the Export DS is generated, but for this particular case it took only 6 fields by default. I need to have one more field.
Can anyone help me with this..??
NOTE: We are working on 2004s.
    Regards
    Rohit Rakhan

    Hi,
for Export DataSources, you can only use selections for Full-Update mode, when using the 3.x functionalities.
But in 2004s, you can assign selections in your DTP.
So the you'll export via export DataSource into the PSA and then perform selections via DTP onto the PSA-Data.

  • Updateble table with HTMLDB_ITEM.TEXTAREA  not save text area field?

    I use
updateble table with HTMLDB_ITEM.TEXTAREA that does not save text area field?
    select a,b,
    case when cond1 then APEX_ITEM.TEXTAREA(3, A_COLUMN,4,50)

    Sak,
Unless I'm misunderstanding your situation, you've wandered outside the abilities of the automatic DML process to update your table. As soon as you use APEX_ITEM objects in your SELECT, you need to write your own table insert/update/delete processes to handle the updated values. The Advanced Apex documentation gives some basic examples for this, but I struggled with it the first time (because I was using a checkbox, which is handled differently than the other types).
For more assistance, try searching this forum for "APEX_ITEM".
    Good luck,
    Stew

  • Autodetect text form fields-How do you get it to find all field areas?

I have 50 pages, all identical.  I created in InDesign and its simply just a chart that is about 50 lines with 4 columns.  It was created as a table also and very clean.  I want each of those cells to be converted to text form fields in Acrobat.  When I run the auto detect, it finds every one except the column on the far right and one of the cells on the very bottom with all 50 pages.  I really need this to autodetect these or else I will have to do all those missing ones manually and that is a TON I will have to do and give unique names also which I really dont want to do!  I have attached a screenshot of the form as is and another showing all the detected fields.

I don't think that there is a way to do, I think your only option is to add manually. If that column is the same size as last one on the right that it detected then you can copy>paste. But beware you may have to rename the field and double check your tabbing order when doing so.
If all your 50 pages have the exact same fields then get your 1st page setup. Then create page 2 and open your pdf with the correct fields, go to Document>Replaces Pages, and select page 2, so the same for all pages and then combine all pages into 1 pdf when finished (seems like a lot of steps but in my opinion faster then doing 50+ pages and however many fields). As long as your 1st page is the exact same field setup as all the rest this should prevent you from having to redo all 50 pages.

  • PDF forms have problems displaying text and only appears when the field is selected

    Hello,
I created some pdf forms to distribute to the company clients. But we are having some people complaining about the text visibility. When they have work in team, the pdf that they receive from a third person often appears unfill or without text, the text is only visible when the field is selected. I need to find a solution for this because our company products are base on this forms.
If there is any addition information that I should add to understand what is happening and how to fix it, I'll be happy to write it.
In the company, we all have mac and the forms where created innitially in Adobe acrobat 9 pro, but we have now Adobe acropabt XI pro.
The users have both Mac and Windows systems.
    Thank you,

This is usually caused by the form being filled-in and saved by a Mac user who is using the Preview application to view the PDF. More information is here: http://kb2.adobe.com/community/publishing/885/cpsid_88564.html
It is a good idea to inform your users that Adobe Reader (or Acrobat) should be used to work with the forms.

  • Printing all text in a multi-line text field??  Can it be done?

I was wondering if there is a way to print out a multi-line field and have all text entered print as well.  Currently, anytime someone enters more information in a multi-line text field on our form than is set to show without scrolling, when a PDF is created for printing from the results page, only the text that fits within the specified size prints.  You can scroll within the PDF and read it all, but I can't seem to figure out how to get all of the text to show and have that field resize accordingly on the printed copy.
    Is there a way?  Thanks.

Is there an easy way to determine the character count that is visible in a given multi-line text field when designing the form, so if I want to allow 500 characters, the text box I create is large enough for 500 characters?  Obviously I can just do a trial and error process using a cut and paste of 500 characters and testing it, but is there an easier way?

  • How to select all text in document?

I need to select all text in a long document to export to rtf. I only seem to be able to select a story. Any ideas in how I can do it?
    Thanks
    Ian

Can't be done. You'll have to link all text boxes together in one long story, or use the script "ExportAllStories.jsx" that comes with your default InDesign installation.
There are other alternatives (all of them using scripts), and the best way may depend on what your intentions are with the exported file -- if, for example, you want to read it back into their original text frames after editing, well, there are ways to do that.

  • How to Add/Concatenate to a text field, values selected in a combo box

I have a combo box form field that allows the user to select a value from a list and click on an Add button. The Add button should add/concatenate the vaue selected to a text field in order to create a list of values selected. I'm not sure how to do this using Javascript in Acrobat? I know I need to add the javascript to the Add button's Mouse Up action. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks so much - it works!

Let's say the text field's name is "Text1", and the combo is called "Combo1". You can then use this code as the MouseUp script of the Add button:
    var f1 = this.getField("Text1");
    var f2 = this.getField("Combo1");
    if (f1.value=="") f1.value = f2.value;
    else f1.value = f1.value + ", " + f2.value;

  • Interactive PDF, Printing all text from within multi line scrolling field

I have an A4 form created in Indesign CS4 and made interactive in acrobat 9 pro on Mac with several fields and have a question.
I have a requirement for a number of the form fields to scroll in order to capture lengthy content if need be, my client also wants the ability to print the content in full from the fields if they so wish. However if the content is lengthy say filling more than the field area shows on screen how would this be printable?
    So :
A form is set up to show 3 lines of text and employs a scrollable field solution to accommodate infinite text entry
The user writes 6 lines of text (only 3 show on screen though due to the forced form field area)
They want to print a record for hard copy or distribution showing all 6 lines
I have just purchased the CS6 version with Acrobat X, but would like to solve this in with my previous version if possible, have only just installed CS6 and due to learning curve need to retain it in Acrobat 9 pro if possible.
    Thanks
    Matt HM

Sure, you could do that fairly easily with just a bit JavaScript. It would have to be done by someone with Acrobat who receives the filled-in form. The text from the fields could be extracted and placed in a text file attachment that you create with JavaScript, and then extract the file attachment.
For the general methods you'd use, see:
    createDataObject: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.450.html
    exportDataObject: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.463.html
Another less flexible approach is to extract to a tab delimited text file: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.460.html
For this, you can specify just the fields you want to include, so you don't have to bother with all of the fields in the form being included.

  • SharePoint 2010 list view - How to filter on a multiline text box field - the view filter does not allow me to select it.

    Hi there,
Does someone know in SharePoint 2010 list view - How to filter on a multiline text box field - the view filter does not allow me to select it.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Per my knowledge,
it is by design that the data type multiple lines of text can only use “contains” and “begins with” operators.
You can also filter the list view using SharePoint Designer,
Open your list AllItem.aspx page in SPD ->click “Filter” > in “Field Name” select your multipe line of text field, in “Comparison” will displayed four choices.

  • Mail Subject Line Automatically Selects All Text When Typing

In Mail I'm typing along in a subject line and randomly the all of text I've entered becomes selected. Then my next keystroke deletes the first entered text. Very frustrating, and I can't figure out why this happens. Maybe OSX's spell checker? How do I turn that off to test?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
Triple-click the line of text below on this page to select it:
    kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}' | open -f -a TextEdit
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. If the command produced no output, the window will be empty. Post the contents of the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window), if any — the text, please, not a screenshot. You can then close the TextEdit window. The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that. No typing is involved in this step.
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    { sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh|vix)|org\.(amav|apac|cups|isc|ntp|postf|x)/{print $3}'; sudo defaults read com.apple.loginwindow LoginHook; sudo crontab -l; } 2> /dev/null | open -f -a TextEdit
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Heed that warning, but don't post it. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.
    Step 3
    { launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|org\.(x|openbsd)/{print $3}'; crontab -l 2> /dev/null; } | open -f -a TextEdit
    Step 4
    ls -A /e*/{la,mach}* {,/}L*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts .la* 2> /dev/null | open -f -a TextEdit
Important: If you formerly synchronized with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
    Step 5
osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of every login item' | open -f -a TextEdit
Remember, steps 1-5 are all copy-and-paste — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
    You can then quit Terminal.

  • Text Entry Field All Caps?

Is there a way to make the text entry field show all caps as an end user types?
    Thank you,
    cgoebel

    Hi Lilybiri,
When you say "after submitting", what does that mean? I need the text to show as all caps as the end user is typing...and can then retain it if the lesson requires using the Retain Text property.
And since this may be possible via JavaScript, anyone have the script to share?
    Thank you,
    cgoebel

  • (PS CS3) Selecting all text to change fill color?

I have a graphic with text - the text was not inserted by Photoshop, and it's not selectable as text; it's just part of the graphic.  I'd like to change the color of the text.
I can select each letter and individual block of punctuation, etc. by using the Magic Wand and Shift+Click on each item.  Is there a way, though, to simply select all of the text - or at least one complete line - with one or two moves or commands, vice the tediousness of clicking in each letter, comma, i dot, and so forth?
    Ed

Given that the text is uniformly colored against a colorless background, a VERY easy shortcut can be to just use Image - Adjust - Hue/Saturation, pick a color, then change the Hue slider.
Literally only a few seconds work...
    -Noel
