Allow distribution group members only to send to distribution group

Is it possible to allow the members of a distribution group to be the only ones permitted to send to the distribution group? I've read up on this and I think it's possible with a custom RBAC role. Any other ideas?
Thanks!

You don't need RBAC for this - you just need to go to the Mail Flow Settings
tab and open the Message Delivery Restrictions properties.  Add the group to the
Accept messages from: Only senders in the following list.  This will limit it so that only messages from members of the group can send to it.
You can also use the shell to do this by running:
Set-DynamicDistributionGroup -Identity <group name> -AcceptMessagesOnlyFromSendersOrMembers <group name>

    Hi,
Is there a way to read group members of site owner group via SharePoint hosted app . The "Who can view the membership of the group? " is set to Group members only. As per my research SCA can only view the group members of site owner group
    if this settings is applied.

  • Make group calendars only editable by some people of the group

    Hi,
I've got 2 group calendars where people are subscribed to. I noticed that all group members can change events in those group calendars but we want only 2 people to be able to do this, all other members only subsribe to this. I've played around in WGM, allowing only some members of the group to edit, but this didn't work, other members were not allowed anymore to access the group calendar.

By using to individual calendars and then delegating them we solved the issue.

  • How to specify which group members have wiki write permissions

In the 10.5 Workgroup Manager, Basic tab, there are two drop down boxes after the checked boxes for enbabling wiki, blog, mailing lists, web calendar, et al -
Allow [group members only | some group members | authenticated users | anyone]
    to write to these services.
If I select "some group members" how do I actually say which group members? I see nowhere that I can specify that.
Specifically this is in regards to the wiki.

Unless I'm missing something, the directory.app only lets me do the same thing the Server Admin does, add people to a group and enable services to that group.
For example I have a group called Techs, they have a mailing list and wiki.
Some of the junior techs I only want to have read access, others write access.
I don't see how I can specify user1 has read only access but user2 and user3 have write access.

  • HT2486 How do I remove the grey "contact" selection highlight?  This contact always appears as the email address for the group I want to send to.

How do I remove the grey "contact" selection highlight?  This contact always appears as the email address for the address book group I want to send to.

The group is "undisclosed" there are 6 contacts in the group. The contacts are listed in 2nd column entitled "name", one of these contacts remains highlighted or selected in grey. I can't remove the grey selection of the contact.   When you select the "undisclosed" group as the "to" address the contact highlighted in grey appears in the email address box.  The group name should appear in the email box, but it doesn't.  This began to happen after I upgraded to IOS 10.6.8.  However I'm not sure that has anything to do with the problem?  I do not have "show all member addresses selected."  Your help is appreciated.

  • 'Send email to group' is not working

I have just made a group in address book. As far as I can tell, I have made it in exactly the same way as all my other groups. However, when I right click on the group name, and choose 'send email to group', it opens a window with nothing in the To: field. I've tried restarting the app, restarting the computer, and even creating the group again, but still it doesn't work.
All other groups made before this still work fine: when I choose 'send email to group' the To: field is filled with recipients's addresses.
This is a real problem for me as I use this feature all the time. I'd appreciate any help.

Seems to be working now. I don't know what was wrong before.

  • Import Pickup Group Members via BAT?

    Hey guys,
I'm a little bit confused, but is there any way to import group members via BAT into existing pickup groups???
Unfortunately my colleague already created the groups but he didn't insert the members at all.
I'm talking about 200 groups with different parameters and I have to insert over 2000 members. So I wonder about how to import.
    Please gimme a hint.
    Thanks

    Hi Patrick,
Yes you can add lines with this option on bat excel sheet

  • Effective Permissions to send email to distribution group having "only senders in the following list"

Our environment is a mixed Exchange 2007 and Exchange 2010 server environment, still in transition (after 4 years). Users have Exchange 2007 mailboxes. A recent problem has been reported in a distribution group access model that has been working without
    complaint for several years.
[email protected] has member John Doe ([email protected]), Jane Doe ([email protected]), "only senders in the following list" is set to GroupA
[email protected] has member Rob Smith ([email protected]), Diane Smith ([email protected]), "only senders in the following list" is set to GroupB
[email protected] has members GroupA, GroupB, "only senders in the following list" is set to GroupC
When designed, we thought that when [email protected] sends an email to [email protected] it would be resolved to the user members of GroupC and delivered to everyone ([email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]). (While
it seems unlikely, that this model has functioned for several years without experiencing this problem, it is conceivable that until recently [email protected] and [email protected] have with few exceptions always had the same membership. Recent changes in
our organizational model have caused this to have some exceptions, and may be the root cause of this problem.)
What we are experiencing is that users [email protected] and [email protected] receive the original email. Users [email protected], [email protected] do not receive the email. [email protected] receives an email "Undeliverable: test
Delivery has failed to these recipients or distribution lists:

    What is the expected behavior?
Does Exchange resolve the "To" distribution group to member mailboxes for delivery purposes, or does it walk the subordinate child groups and check security at each level?
Is this a configurable behavior that may have recently changed as we have a "new" Exchange Admin poking around?
Might this be related to the mixed Exchange 2007 / 2010 environment?
Is there a way to obtain "effective permissions" for delivery restrictions?

    Hi,
From your description, I would like to verify if you have done some changes for GroupB distribution group. Ensure that "[email protected]" is added to the "accept list" in GroupB's message delivery
    restrictions.
What's more, are GroupA GroupB and GroupC Exchange 2010 distribution groups?

  • NDR not sending to group members

I have tried as both a distribution group and a shared mailbox.  as a dist group, all members receive regular email.  but in the instance of an NDR, none of the members will receive.  if I log into the group mailbox directly, I see the NDR
message.  I have tried creating rules specifically looking for the undeliverable message and forwarding the the members, but this doesnt work either.

    Hi w.alexLNRA,
According to your description, I understand that DG isn't forward the NDR to members, when someone send as DG and return an NDR.
As my per knowledge, if you send email as DG, and for some reasons, NDR returned, the NDR would delivered according to the configuration in the advanced TAB,
    1. Send delivery reports to group manager.
    2. Send delivery reports to messager originator.
    3. Do not send delivery reports.
When you send as DG, the messager originator is DG, and so the NDR would not be found though your mailbox, you could check the log to confirm where the NDR go.
So, if you want to receive the NDR you could add your account as the owner/manager of the DG.
    Best regards,
    Allen Wang

  • Using ios 7.0.4 can a group email be sent either from icloud or iPhone by a means other than selecting the individual Contact, ie; can the group be selected and then an email composed that will send the message to all group members.

    Hi Richard,
Thanks for the reply - I think I've sorted it though and there isn't actually an issue.
The whole group wasn't receiving the NDR, only the group manager which I setup a few weeks prior. This is a new feature so it complies with certain RFC's, basically the group manager will recieive the NDR to let them know there is a problem.

  • VBScript does not retrieve Member details if a Distribution/Security Group have only one Member

    Hi,
VBScript does not retrieve Member details if a Distribution/Security Group have only one Member. I have tried several Scripts even changed the coding in it, also tried few External Script by created by other Scriptor's. Any suggestion on why this is happening.

Perfect... Thank you. I reworked on the Script and it is showing up. One more info required. I know my script is having another bug. Can you help me getting the member list of a User Group. When i pull it retrieves all the Group info for a user
    but no "Domain Users" Group.
Sorry for the lame humor but it was getting late.
As for you new request.  I do not understand what you are asking. Can you post your script and any error messages you are getting.

  • Group Message only sends iMessages not SMS

Hello all. I just recently moved to Android but my spouse is still on an iPhone. For some reason, when she group messages it is only sending responses to those with imessage on their phone.  However if she sends me a non group message (only me) it recognizes it as a SMS, turns green and sends the text perfectly. However it will not recognize that I do not have imessage when sending a group text.
She has iMessage, Send as SMS, MMS Messaging and Group Messaging all turned all, but no luck.
The other people with iphones in the group, can send the group texts and their iphones are converting my text to SMS. Its just my wifes phone not sending me SMS when I am in a group, only sending me a SMS when direct to me only..
The phone is updated to the latest software, and I even rebooted her phone with no luck..
Anyone have any idea what is happening?
    Arghh...........

You can only send imessage to other iphone user running IOS 5.0 or higher.
Other phone will send as a text.  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3529

  • How allow only 2 sender lots of addresses

    Hi,
my environment is Messaging Server 5.2 hf 2.06 and Directory Server 5.1 sp2.
my problem is: how I can limit the number of addesses to all the sender except for 2 specified sender? I mean: I limited the total number of addresses for all, but I need that 2 sender (internal mail address of the messaging server) can send an email to a dynamic mailing list that exceed this limit.
    Thanks in advance for help

Hi, sorry but I need some example to understand.
Please, could you give me an example of the
parameters I have to use to:
    - limit all the users to a certain number of mail See the MTA documentation here:
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-2651/6n4u5ce7s?a=view
    look for
    ALLOW_RECIPIENTS_PER_TRANSACTION
create a tcp_local.opt file, and put this in there.
    compile the configuration
    restart the dispatcher
    - how restrict the mailing list so that just
authorized user can send mail to them?
I haven't understood how to implement the first
point. To implement the second point in other cases I
have inserted a filter into mappings file...is it
right? Not at all how I'd do it.
I wouild create actual mailing lists in the LDAP. There are ldap attributes such as, "msgrpallowedbroadcaster", where you put in who is allowed to send to the group.
    regards.

  • Allow only changes in specific Metadata Group

    Hi,
I have users that are only created for the duplicator we are using.
I would like them to browser all items we have but cannot make changes to any of them - except one Metadata Group that I have created (in this group there are relevant status informations about duplication - as these accounts will be used by many different users I do not want them to be able to do too much..)
"duplication" is an own group with the users in there, I have also created a new Permission Set "duplicator" and assigned it to the group. But in the "Trait Permission" tab of the Permission Set it does not let me "Inherit / Permit / Forbid" for my Metadata Set?
Is there any way to solve this issue?
    thanks
    tobi

    Tobi:
I'd start with creating a clone of the Review permission set then set Forbid to Edit Details for metadata group you'd like to restrict.

  • Sending mail to group... help!

I have created a group in Address Book... Some of the people have two or more email addresses in Address Book (home, school, work, etc.). When I go into Mail, and put the group in the "To:" box, all the names appear... but Mail automatically defaults to the first email listed for each person. Instead of selecting each person in the message, can I easily set the "primary" email address for each person. For example, I want my particular group to only send to the ".edu" addresses of each person. How can I easily change this?
    Thanks for the help!

    Copied from Address Book Help.
If group members have multiple email addresses, you can choose which address you want to use when sending mail to the group. Select the group, then choose Edit > Edit Distribution List. Select which of the members' addresses you want to use.
