[Android][Music] Track skipping issue

LAest update for Android has changed the skipping method in the notifications drop down thing. now, back skip takes u back a track. I preferred it whe it restarted the current track.(Now, i have to skip forward then skip back just to replay the track i was already on My suggestion is a settings option so that the ppl that preferred the old method can switch back to it.

Hey there.
I've moved your topic over here in the help section.
I've just tried reproducing the issue but when I press the back button on the notification widget it goes to the start of the current song.
Could you tell us a bit more:
- Which Spotify version are you running?
- Which Android version?
Thanks.

  • Music track skipping and playing silence on iPhone

Some music tracks play sections of silence, others are skipping randomly like a scratched record. This happens when playing on the built-in speakers or on headphones. Tracks affected can be either CD imports or iTunes purchases.
I have the latest iTunes update, I have iOS4, I have re-synched, restored the phone multiple times, checked my hard drive... What can be the cause of this? I am prepared to do whatever it takes to solve the problem but I have run out of ideas. The Genii Apple Store have no idea what's causing it.
iPhone is proving not to be viable as a music player. I now have to carry my old iPod in addition to my iPhone if I want music.
    anyone? please ??

MP3 is a lossy compression - the more you do it the more your music tracks will degrade. Re-encoding the songs which have already been encoded will gradually reduce the quality (much the same as photocopying a photocopy). If you really need to re-encode something it's best to take it from the source, i.e. rip from CD again.
Obviously this would be a bit time consuming for all your tracks, but I think if you really had to do this with your entire music collection every time iTunes is upgraded there must be something seriously wrong with iTunes.
If you have track problems there's probably something in your computer software which is conflicting with the processes going on in iTunes. In my case it appears to be my antivirus. Do a bit of detective work and try switching a few things off to narrow it down, but you shouldn't have to go through a laborious process of re-encoding which will eventually degrade the quality of your music.

  • Track Skipping Issue/Queue Issue

I recently upgraded my iPhone 6 to iOS 8.4. Seemingly at random my Spotify will decide to not follow an album or an artists track listing. For example. Say I'm listening to Pink Floyd's The Wall and I'm just viewing the album. I am listening to the song "In the Flesh?" the next song should be "The Thin Ice" but sometimes my phone decides it will play a completely different song from the album like "Mother." This is not specific to playing through an album or an entire artist. I will also have an issue where if I select a song on the album that is not at the beginning of the album will skip back to the beginning of the album instead of to the next track. The other problem with this is sometimes a track will get stuck as the only track in the queue despite not having made any queue selections.
The only way I have been able to repeat this issue is if I go into an app that requires the mic (e.g., snapchat, camera) and Spotify does a forced pause or if I pause the track and then go into one of those apps.
I hope I am explaning this as clearly as possible. Hope I can get some help. This isn't an app-breaking issue, just a nuisance.

If you have not already done so, take a look at these articles. Please also look at links within the articles that may lead to more info.
Troubleshooting songs that skip on iPod
iPod does not play content purchased from the iTunes Store
Sorry if you have done all of the things shown. Since I do not work for Apple I can't begin to explain why you don't have a "simple fix". I can only assume that since technology is man-made then perfection does not and never will exist. It may be frustrating to deal with the glitches and problems that spring up but that's the way things go. Consider the fact that it wasn't that long ago when these little toys of ours didn't exist and we had to spend life excited with Walkman's (take it back old school...pre-CD walkman! lol).
On a more serious note...consider the possibility that the issue may not be the iPod itself but iTunes and the way it causes things to occur on the iPod. Another guess on my part...but it's a well known fact that a LOT of problems seemed to crop up with the introduction of iTunes 7 prior to the release of the 2nd gen nano. I've been a lucky one so far and not had most of the issues others have posted about on here. I am by no means a diehard Apple customer...iPods are the beginning and end of my consumer experience with the company. All I do is assume that if and when there is a problem the company will work at providing a solution that works...even though it may take a lot longer than I would like.
But I digress. Hope things work out for you.

  • Apple TV remote skips music tracks when navigating menu

I've just set up my Apple TV and paired it to my Macbook through home-sharing. However, when I'm navigating the main menu (using the Apple TV remote), it will pause/skip/go back on the music tracks that are playing, as well as moving between menu items. Is there any way to keep the same track playing without skipping it every time you click the remote?
I have set up the remote app on my phone which doesnt seem to suffer the same issue but I'd like to use the tv remote if possible.
    Thanks

Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy. Click Advanced in the lower right. Click "Disable remote control infrared receiver."

  • IPhone 5 skipping over every music track

As of this morning, when I tried to play some music on my phone before work, my iPhone 5 began skipping music tracks one by one until it gets to the last two tracks. It displays the art and title for a split second, then skips to the next song. Only the last two tracks in my "purchased" playlist will play now without skipping forward.
Anyone have a fix that doesn't require a restore?

(shameless bump to try and get some feedback)

  • When streaming a movie with the new Apple TV, and using a DSL Internet connection, all audio sound works, e.g., the music track, but the audio track with the actor's voices, does not work. What can I do?

When streaming a movie with the new Apple TV, and using a DSL Internet connection, all audio sound works, e.g., the music track, but the audio track with the actor's voices, does not work. What can I do?

    Hi Brian,
Thanks restoring and restarting didn't fix my problem - i have started it fresh and still it doesn't work. Basically I press ONCE on the remote, after the machine has not had any commands for 10 minutes, and the cursor skips from one end of the menu to the other - so I can't choose network or update software etc - I sometimes manage to stop it randomly in the middle of the menu if I press on a command in the middle of the cursor skipping all the menu steps...not sure what the problem is but I have basically not used my brand new apple tv since I bought it for that reason! I should call Apple support I suppose! grrrr hate wasting time with stuff like this!
    Thanks for your help though!

  • Track order issues

I'm having this trouble with itunes and track orders:
Lately all cds that I've added to my collection got the wrong track order, the last song showing right after the first. I'm pretty sure all tracks share the same metadata for artist, album artist, album, etc.
So for this CD with 8 tracks the order itunes shows is 1-8-2-3-4-5-6-7. Same for two cds with 10 tracks (1-10-2-3..). I tried changing the artist/album info for the misplaced track but it always goes back to the wrong order when I fix it.
And oddly this only happens when I sort by album by artist. The order is correct when I sort by album only.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

on the iPod: there's an album that appears 3 times on iPod with exactly the same songs while in itunes it's fine! what the **** is this? Can anyone help me?
Likely you just need to do a restore on the iPod, let it format and resync and it should be fine.

since i have a 8Gb iPod nano 3G and a 20Gb AND I would like to use the automatic Sync with the iPod i created a new library in iTunes where i'll have only 8Gb of stuff. Seems like a good idea to just plug the iPod and it syncs automatically with the stuff I've already chosen,
No that is a fairly inefficient way to do it. iTunes can tell your iPods apart, so all you have to do is sync them to the same library and for the Nano, set it up to sync a playlist of what you want.
Instead of creating a whole new library, just create a playlist in iTunes with that same set of music in it. Not only will you only have one library, but you can now easily add things or delete thing from that playlist out of your main library.
Then plug in the Nano and set it up to sync only that playlist. Simple!

Just another thing... can any of you advise me on a good auto-MP3 tagger application (for free!)?? I had a really good one for WinXP - Magic MP3 Tagger - but it's not available for Mac and i think it would resolve the track ordering issues!
iTunes is free and is a pretty good MP3 tagger.

  • I'm getting this error message: "User not registered for online use" when i'm trying to download music/ track names from a CD into ITunes on my Windows 8 PC.  I'm registered and my itunes account/ appleID are all correct and working.

I'm getting this error message: "User not registered for online use" when i'm trying to download music/ track names from a CD into ITunes on my Windows 8 PC.  I'm registered and my itunes account/ appleID are all correct and working.

The ""not recognized for on-line use". error is associated with the Gracenote service that iTunes uses to look up and retrieve metadata for CDs.  Some users have reported that this error occurs when trying to import from CD, subsequent to upgrading to version 12.  A number of slightly different solutions have been reported (though all of a similar nature).
Try walking through the following steps - before starting you may have to enable hidden files and folders to be viewed - in Windows 7 / Windows Explorer select Organize > Folder and search options, then on the View tab make sure that Show hidden files, folders and drives is selected.  Without this you won't see the AppData folder in C:\Users\username\
    Exit iTunes
In Windows Explorer, go to the folder C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes
    Delete the following files:
    CD Info.cidb
    com.apple.iTunes.Gracenote.plist
    Restart iTunes
Insert a CD and see if details are now correctly retrieved from Gracenote
    If this doesn't work:
In iTunes, select Edit > Preferences and make a note (or take a screenshot) of your preferences settings in all relevant tabs
    Exit iTunes
In Windows Explorer, go to the folder C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes
    Delete the following file:iTunesPrefs.xml
    Restart iTunes
Insert a CD and see if details are now correctly retrieved from Gracenote
If this second procedure does work, you'll need to restore other iTunes preferences settings to those that you noted in step 1.
    If this one didn't work:
    Exit iTunes
    Check the following folders:
    C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes
    C:\Users\username\AppData\LocalLow\Apple Computer\iTunes
Delete any copies of the following files:
    CD Info.cidb
    com.apple.iTunes.Gracenote.plist
    iTunesPrefs.xml
    Restart iTunes
Insert a CD and see if details are now correctly retrieved from Gracenote
Again, if this procedure does work, you'll need to restore other iTunes preferences settings to those that you noted in step 1 of the second procedure. If you're still not able to retrieve CD info:
    Exit iTunes
In Windows, select Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features.  Find the entry for iTunes, right-click and select Repair.
When this process has finished, restart iTunes
Insert a CD and see if details are now correctly retrieved from Gracenote
If none of these have worked (and almost everything I've seen suggests you should be OK by this point), you may have an issue with the installation and configuration of iTunes itself.  If you have got this far, see turingtest2's notes on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for advice on how to remove and replace of all components of iTunes.

  • A music track I purchased only partially downloaded. I am unable to re-download it again as there is no option, so cannot get the full track I have purchased. Any ideas?

I purchased an 8 minute music track on itunes which only downloaded about 22 seconds. It does not give me the option to re-download what I purchased on itunes, only to play it - so it only re-plays the partially downloaded track. I know the full track is available as I managed to download it to my iphone but when i connected my iphone to itunes the one which was only partially downloaded saved in my music directory overwrote the full version I managed to get on my iphone so I'm back to square one again. Any ideas? Thanks

Delete the track from the iTunes library, allowing iTunes to move the track file to the Trash. Then download the track again from the iTunes Store via this procedure:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
That fixes the problem for many people. If problems with the track persist, go here:
    iTunes Support
and follow the instructions to report the issue to the iTunes Store.
    Regards.

  • If your Lightroom 6 is crashing in the Slideshow module, check the SAMPLE RATE of your music track

After spending over 2 hours with an Adobe technician who had control over my Windows 7 machine, I've learned something that I don't think Adobe knows yet...  I upgraded from LR 5.7 to LR 6 (not CC) and began having issues when I was working in the Slideshow module.  When trying to add a music track, Lightroom would crash ("unexpectedly quit").  I couldn't for the life of me figure out why.  I turned off the GPU since a fair amount of chatter on the forum related to that, but it didn't change anything.
So I finally waited patiently for the Adobe Chat line to finally get a tech to respond...and he was exceptionally detailed and methodical in his approach to diagnosing my issues.  I could follow on my screen as he did a variety of things that indicated he understood what he was doing.  Unfortunately he got to a point where he thought (as did I) that he had found the problem/solution...which he thought was related to the bit rate.  He concluded that music with a Variable Bit Rate (VBR) as opposed to a Constant Bit Rate (CBR) was causing the problem.  Also unfortunate was that this "discovery" was near the 2-1/2 hour mark and we did not apply the scientific method to property determine if we had narrowed down to cause/effect.
Based on my further analysis, he was close, but not right on.  It isn't the BIT rate mode that is causing the crash, but rather the SAMPLE rate.  Turns out that the vast majority of songs in my iTunes library have a sample rate of 44.100 kHz--and those work just fine.  However, I have about 15 songs, mostly downloaded as free background music from the YouTube creation library, that have a sample rate of 48.000 kHz--every single one of those cause my LR6 to crash.
If you're having a problem with Lightroom crashing in the Slideshow module, check the SAMPLE RATE of your music track.

If you're on Windows, check out a free program called Audacity--it's fantastic.  With Audacity the process of converting a 48.000 kHz to 44.100 kHz is as simply as opening, changing the sample rate, and then exporting again, as an MP3.

  • ITunes freezes periodically when loading music tracks

We have previously used iTunes on a laptop running XP pro with no problems.
Recently we changed our laptop to one running XP media center edition. Having installed iTunes on this new machine we find it often encounters problems that lead to the error message "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close".
This may occur after loading 1 or 2 music tracks or after upto 20 tracks, in a more or less random fashion. Very annoying, making the program almost unusable.
I have de-installed and re-installed the program with no improvement.
Any suggestions as to what could be the problem would be greatfully appreciated.

Same issue. I just bought two seasons of a TV show for Itunes and have been struggling to get it to work. Similar symptoms. Before disabling Direct3D and DirectX, I received a white screen while playing videos and good sound. Now it plays for about 20 seconds and crashes. I tried moving files to a firewire hard drive, but I get the same results. Latest quicktime and itunes recently installed.
I thought it might be related to the Nvidia Nforce comment made by Apple support at the bottom of their performance doc http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305392
However, Nvidia clearly states on their site that it is an Apple problem. Not sure where to go with this. http://nvidia.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/nvidia.cfg/php/enduser/stdadp.php?pfaqid=2075

  • Can the volume for downloaded music tracks be synced and how

can the volume for downloaded music tracks from itunes be synced and how if so

Hard to know what the cause is  because it's like this
I know what I did to cause this. I upgraded my one of my hard drives, renamed the drive and moved the folder. The missing pictures it can't find were added with the option in the advance menu "copy photo to library" turned off.
    and this
What I did is added a small SSD as my primary drive. Put the OS and all the apps on it.  Moved my iPhoto and iTunes libraries to an large external.  Most of the picture it is not having a problem wth.  Only certain ones.  Don't actually think I unchecked tha prefeence, but it's acting like i have.
seem to be written by two different people.

  • Final Cut why music track sounds badly compressed?

I have a music track that sounds just great if I listen to it under Quick Time Pro,  However, that same song simply imported in Final Cut then added to a project sounds like a pumping compressor, destroying the song completely.  Why Final Cut cannot simply use it the way it is rather than adding an additional (badly set) audio compressor ?

    Hi,
It wasn't clear to me if you're just playing the project on the timeline or the problem only happens after exporting it? Which could make a difference.
The only way FCPX should change your audio, automatically, is if the settings for Audio are setup in settings under Import
You can check if this has been done on your audio by selecting the audio file in the timeline and checking the Audio Enhancements section - like this screenshot below.
Click on this Audio Analysis button to check any automatic adjustments - and turn them off, if necessary.
If that's not set to anything, then it would have to be a bug of some kind. I've had issues with audio when exporting only (played fine in the timeline)
How are you importing by the way. Does it happen if you just create a new project and drag the file in from Finder straight onto the timeline?

  • Ducking music-track not working in preview

Tried ducking a music-track in several clips, but couldn't get it to work reliable. On the first clip it worked, on others volume level of the music-track stayed the same, whatever value I've set the ducking slider to.
After much experimenting and browsing the web, I found the following post by Winston Churchill:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6636047
He recommended to export the clip and check the final result. And in fact, the music level followed the setting in the exported movie.
So this is a bug in iMovie08. While it is not a big issue, if you know the ducking works on export, it can drive you nuts, if you rely on iMovies preview mode and can't get it to work.
And what makes me wondering even more, that this post is from Feb 18, 2008 and the bug is still present in June 2008.

    hi there
i had a problem with my wifes iphone 4s, today morning while travelling to work i changed a setting on repeat option and changed it to repeat artist, it was fine until when i finish my work and on my way back i found songs are not playing anymore, lots of stop signs next to my song list, play/pause button not working, album arkwork keep moving from one to another on its own, so after i reach home i try to do some research on Apple support communities, try to soft reset my phone closing all the apps on background didnt work, also note that control centre music player was not working as well. none of the solutions worked. after trying for two hours i found out that the trouble is in repeat options , so i changed it from repeat artist to repeat off. and the music start playing as usual, but i still have those stop buttons next to the songs i tried to play earlier. At least it fixed temporarily. please also note that in the meantime i tried to sync my phone with the pc and suddenly its start syncing all the songs again assuming there were no songs on my iphone.  so guys i think soft reset might not help all the time but try to remember what settings you changed recently and change it back to the original option, not sure ,but it might help.
