How do you crop an audio that is in the background for it to then start again in another point in iMovie?

I'm working on this project and it has background music. I need the background music to stop (i.e crop the background music) and then make it start in another point. In simpler words I just need to crop a part of the audio out and continue by fading, or to simply add two background audios.

You're in much more control with your audio, when you do not use the 'background' feature (which is meant for a very convenient 'auto mode'), but use audio as 'clips':
drag your background music onto the first video-clip of your Project
it appears as a green bar
you can process this bar as any other clip in iMovie:
move it, shorten it, split it, copy it. plus, you can apply fades at front at end ....

If you cannot close the Pen Tool by switching to another tool, as a temporary measure you may try pressing P (for Pen).
To solve it, you may try the list.
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
If possible/applicable, you should save curent artwork first, of course.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

Well, the case of the multiple Jacobs was easy. They have been erased. They were dumber than most and made it some elementary mistakes which I could track. This isn't the case all the time. While it may seem frustrating to you, it would be more frustrating if I were to delete two real users that we assumed were the same person simply because the answer to a question is given within an extremely short time span. And yes, to my knowledge there is nothing "illegal" at this point for two separate individuals to IM each other about asking questions and then giving answers. Admittedly, they could be a bit brighter about it and allow at least 5 minutes to pass, but not everyone is as smart as us.
Also worthy of note. The thread cited concerning X and Y contains links to a number of different threads involving many people. This Jacobs deal is only the most recent one added to that thread. Others in it, I have investigated and could not prove categorically that the questioner and answerer were the same person. I'm currently using a kind of US Judicial system based theory in which guilt must be beyond the shadow of a doubt. Naturally, I can't list out all the things that I look for behind the scenes to deduce whether I have a duplicate person as that would defeat my investigative methods.
I know the forums team met recently and discussed this problem. I am sure they will be coming out with guidelines as to what I should use as a barometer for deciding these things. Until such time, I will continue to do these based on my current methodology.

I also had tried other means of getting answers and got an even more specific answer on just how to do this. Below is the link to the actual knowledgebase article giving specific instructions since there are some files that need to be on the Palm and some on the card, etc.

I emailed Zondervan to see if they might be able to direct me to a downloadable manual. The referred me to laridan.com who now supports their software.
I followed the instructions, taking into account some things that were already where they needed to be, hot synced it and it seems to be working fine with 7.8 M free space on my Palm which I trust is enough for my other very large applications.

Point crazy on SDN

Having used this forums for a while, I have to say it can have some supply some very valuable information.
What I also notice is that some people are just crazy for earning points.
Here's a situation: Someone asks a question. One person answers with a great solution. An hour later, someone else gives the exact same answer and signs off with: Don't forget to give points! How silly is that? And for most: WHY? Why would you repeat an answer? For points?
I thought this forum was for people to help eachother, but it seems that for some people it's just a was to elbow yourself into the picture. Sad...

There are settings you can change or disable for some of the issues you mention. you should go into the menu's settings and explore. Turn off promotions, etc..

How do I create an n-point running average VI?

I've been programming in sequential written languages like C for many years now. I've been using LabVIEW for the last 4 months and am having problems writing an n-point running average VI. It is really bothering me, because this would be really trivial in C or anything else. But for some reason I can't conceive how I would do this in LabVIEW. I used LabVIEW 5 for the bulk of that time, and we just upgraded to LabVIEW 8 last week so I've been learning it. Wow, some pretty big differences between the two but the gist is the same.
I have a 5-point running average subVI written that uses a run-once while loop with shift-registers that keep their value between subsequent VI calls. This works for what I need, but have 2 problems I would like to overcome.
1. I can't have multiple instances of the same subVI in my top-level VI program because the way the shift-registers are keeping their value between subsequent VI calls. I have to make duplicates of the .vi file (i.e., 5_point_running_average.vi, 5_point_running_average_2.vi) in order to keep all the shift registers seperate.
2. I want it to be an n-point running average. Currently I have to jump into the VI and add another shift register to add another point. I often change my sample rate, and thus being able to have a different averaging window is really handy.
So the VI takes 2 inputs:
n - (integer) the number of points to computer the average over.
in - (real) the current data point.
output:
out[i] = (in[i] + in[i-1] + ... + in[i-n-1])/n
I've also thought about the possibility of needing a 3rd input that is "instance" which might help keep variables within the subVI separated and thus not needing separate duplicate files.
In case you are wondering, I'm using a running average to make digital HUDs easy to read. The actual data that I'm recording to file will not be going through the running average function, because as you can see by the output function, there will be a phase shift in the output. At high sample rates, the digital displays can be moving very rapidly and that makes them hard to read.
Other recommendations as to how to make digital displays easy to read to help operators while performing tests? As for instantaneous data smoothing, so to speak. I already make the displays very large if they are critical.
I'm very interested in this n-point running average solution. I've been scratching my head over it for awhile now and am quite stumped on how to approach this in LabVIEW.

The atomic operations (delete/insert) MUST do the following:
When you insert into array, all higher elements need to be moved up one slot, then the element is inserted.
When you delete from array, the lement needs to be deleted and all higher elements moved down one slot
Both operations involve an array resizing operation and data shuffling in memory.
How can LabVIEW be sure that the memory can be re-used? What if your code would delete one, but insert two at each iteration? It might well be that the LabVIEW compiler properly re-uses the memory in your particular case, but there are no guarantees. A five element array is peanuts. so it would probably be difficult to notice a difference.
You might want to run a benchmark of the different algoritms using a huge buffer.
"First call?" is defined as followes in the online help:
First Call? returns TRUE the first time the VI runs after the first top-level caller starts running, such as when the Run button is clicked or the Run VI method executes. If a second top-level caller calls the VI while the first top-level caller is still running, First Call? does not return TRUE a second time.
It will only be true exactly once during the entire execution of the toplevel VI, only the first time it is called from anywhere.

Error while copying GL Accounts from One Client to another client

Hi,
We are trying to copy GL accounts created in one client to another client (Company Code is same in both the clients). First we executed FS15 (send) and a file was created on the server. With the help of BASIS team we checked that file and it contained the required values. However, when we are doing FS16 (receive) we are getting following OK messages:
File /usr/sap/DEV/SYS/global/FBISABC is being checked
Session 1 session name RFBISA20 : No terminations have been found
However, at the same time we are getting following error message:
File name FI_COPY_COMPANY_CODE_DATA_FOR_GENERAL_LEDGER_0X is unknown
Message no. SG001
Diagnosis
No entry was found in the conversion table for the logical file name FI_COPY_COMPANY_CODE_DATA_FOR_GENERAL_LEDGER_0X.
Procedure
Add an entry to the conversion table for the logical file name. Maintain the conversion table with the transaction SM30.
Can someone please advice is there something wrong that we are doing for copying GL accounts from one client to another client.

Did you check the batch-input? SM35
It could have happend that there was a mistake in the batch-input data and that the destination file has not been written. If this has not been written it could not be found. (I.E. you tried to transport G/L Accounts with deletion flags but did activate the checkbox "Transfer deletion ****").
There is another point: Did you activate the box "Datei nur prüfen" (English: Check file only)? If this box is activated the programm will check if the batch-input-file will be written without mistakes but it will not write the file. Only if the checkbox is not activated the batch-input-file will be written. (the same with FS16).

Simple enough but... calling a method from another class

I know it's simple enough, although I can't see where I'm going wrong for some reason. Basically I've got a class which extends JPanel but when I try to call one of its methods from my main class I get an error. The relevant code (I hope) is:

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? I created an instance of the StatusBar class called statusBar, then I use this to call the setStatusText() method (via statusBar.setStatusText()) which I thought was all correct, then it doesn't work? Even if there's an easier way to do what I want to achieve (i.e. update a JLabel from the 'central' main class file instead of setting the JLabel to static and having every class call it directly), I'd appreciate knowing where I'm going wrong here nonetheless.

How to find out the location of a point on my program on desktop?

I am trying to build a java program then need to track where is specific point of the program at the desktop. For example, if I move my program at the top left, the x and y should be (0,0), then when move to another point on the destop, the x and y would be updated.
I searched in internet for long time but still cannot find it. Seem like getLocation() just get me the location of something in a program and the location of that part within the program.

It's a kind of hierarchy where each component has a position relative to the container that holds it. The location of the program's top level window is relative to the screen coordinates.
You can add a ComponentListener to the top level window to respond to it being moved or resized.
