Any good Lumia 822 case retailers?

My brother just gave me an early Christmas present:  the Nokia Lumia 822 windows phone.  I am really psyched and have already added an additional 32 GB micro SD card.  The ability to add extra memory is a huge plus.  I then transferred 4 GB of music and lots of photos directly to the card.  I also imported my Contacts from Windows Live Mail.  So I am now ready to roll!
But before carrying the phone around in my purse, I would like a good case for the phone.  I have done about an hour's worth of searching on the internet for a cool case, but to no avail.  There seem to be very few available and the ones that are have no imagination.
Does anyone know a good case retailer with some novel Lumia 822 cases or when Zazzle might be introducing cases for the Lumia 822?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Per my brother -- he popped the back of the phone off, took out the battery, slipped micro SD card into slot and it clicked in, replaced the battery, replaced the cover.  Then turned phone on and it said, "I found an SD card.  Would you like to store all your music, video and pictures on it?" and he said, "Yes"  Then, he connected the phone to the computer via cable that came with phone.  We downloaded Windows 8 phone to the computer.  It said, "What music would you like to import to phone -- itunes library, xbox library or other locations?"  We said, "Itunes" and it copied pretty fast.
I actually did the photo transfer but I can't remember how.  I had an iPad3 (purchased in June), a Surface RT (just purchased) and now this phone.  All these purchases were because my brother is in IT and wants to know how the devices work for his work. But it gets confusing to remember!

  • Lumia 822 lacks good ereader and camera sucks

Lumia 822 lacks decent app to enjoy books and magazines and camera sucks
I bought the Nokia Lumia 822 because it allowed use of a micro SD card which would expand available memory and because it came with Office.  I have been happy with the SD card capability (although today I had to reseat the SD card because the card doesn’t snap into place, it just kind of sits there – I ended up losing all my photos from March 2013, but, hey, at least the majority were there).  Office is functional though I wouldn’t be able to do major spreadsheets in it.  I also had to send back my original phone for a refurbished phone when it crashed about a week after that major update.  I wasn't happy about receiving a refurbished phone, considering what a personal item a cellphone is.
While I knew apps were a limitation being on the bleeding edge of technology, I assumed they would emerge soon enough and was willing to wait.  I bought the phone in November 2012 and as of today (April 2013), there still is no decent app with which to buy books and magazines.  This is a major bummer.
As an amateur photographer, I find the Nokia Lumia 822 Windows Phone camera incredibly disappointing on its own and particularly with respect to the iPhone 5.  This is in stark contrast to Nokia’s assertion that they will set themselves apart with their cameras and comes after a February (or March?) 2013 update that was supposed to fix the camera’s color issues.  It previously had a green tint, which improved with the update but the color is still not great.  Just to note up front, I am not an Apple fanboi by any stretch, preferring the Microsoft Surface as opposed to the iPad3 (both of which I have owned).
The Lumia 822 camera takes forever to focus and shoot once you’ve hit the screen.  If you instead choose to shoot using the camera button, you have to press so hard that the phone inevitably shakes.  The pictures come out blurry with  washed out colors no matter what you do.  Taking the same shot with the iPhone 5, it shoots quickly and comes out crystal clear, with vibrant colors.  I have noticed that the largest photo size on the Lumia 822 is like 2 MB, while it is over 4 MB on the iPhone 5.
Today, when I tried to send some photos from my brother’s iPhone 5 to the Lumia 822, I noticed that Apple provided 3 choices – the original photo size, which was like 4.5 MB, a medium photo size and a small photo size.  Such choices are not available on the Lumia 822.  In any case, I chose the original size of 4.5 MB and when I received the photo on the Lumia 822 chose Save to Phone.  Yet when I forwarded my mom that same photo from my Lumia 822, it sent as 850 KB.  I don’t know how to see the size of the photo that was saved on my phone but I’m guessing it wasn’t 4.5 MB for whatever reason.
I had been psyched about the upcoming Lumia that was a 41 megapixel camera but now I even have doubts about that.
I actually bought Nokia stock, some at $3.56 and some at $4.58, but I’m starting to regret it.

I think you should have picked 920 instead of 822, I believe their new release 720 has better camera than 820/822.
I bought 920 for my brother as present, he is a good man and always wanted to upgrade his old phone to smartphone era.. Anyways, 920 felt superb, camera seemed quality wise similar to my Iphone 4s, which was excellent camera for smartphone, but it also added OIS and some nifty photolenses, like that animation edit thing and excellent other features that made my own Iphone pale in comparison.
As what comes to me, I bought Nokia 808 over 920 which I now regret. Quality wise 808 is WAYYY superior even to my Sony Alpha 300 SLR with basic lens. I still cannot believe how sharp and realistic images I get. Add excellent video recording and that lossless zoom, I absolutely love it. But as compared into Iphone as a phone and portable media device Nokia Pureview 808 is so bad! Browsing internet is worse, watching videos is worse, settings are mess up.. Its usable but I would give it an poor grade as a SMARTPHONE, as this tiny camera; Superior.
920 would have given me Excellent camera with all the other great sh*t Nokia offers nowadays.
I am waiting 920 + 808 combo Lumia with 41Mpx lossless zoom and OIS, with water proof and solar energy!

  • City Lens on Lumia 822 way out of date; any update...

I just bought 2 Lumia 822s (Verizon) for myself and my wife. We live in New York City. The City Lens app, and related Here! apps, are all way out of date. The list of restaurants in our neighborhood contains some that closed years ago. In one case, there are three restaurants listed for the same location, and they were all once there, just not at the same time. Right now only one of the three is in operation. Other restaurants nearby are not listed at all. Not only that, but the app on my wife's phone is bringing up some different restaurants than the app on my phone. The list goes on. Is anyone at Nokia, or the app supplier, in charge of keeping this information up to date? It is pretty useless when so many listings are wrong. I don't know if this is peculiar to the 822 or applies across all platforms. I suspect it is the app(s).

in CItylens goto options(...)>report a place and find this:
To report a place go to here.com, search for the place, click on more details next to the place name and then report this place.
Remember these apps only get as good as the feedback people provide on it..

  • Lumia 822-Denim update, good or bad?

I downloaded the long awaited windows 8.1 to my lumia 822 this morning but found that it has taken away my ability to take, view, and send pictures. I'm guessing that this is a bug but I'm not sure. Has anyone else had better luck?Lu

I had the same issue. Along with some other oddities that showed up. I know that it is not what most people want to hear, but I ended up having to reset the phone back to factory and rebuilding it from the ground up. I did not let it restore any of my previous settings. (It may have been fine, but I didn't want to take the risk)
This is work, but remember you are loading a new OS onto a device that was out before the OS was so there may be some work and tweaking that needs to be done to make it work.

  • Any good cases?

I've had my Ipod for about a wekk now and iy's scratched realy. So do you guys know any good cases? Something that will prtotect it if I drop it, but still looks good.
I have a Black Ipod Video.

If it is mainly the scratching you are concerned about you cannot go wrong with Martin Overlays. I bought one for my husband's and my ipod and we couldn't be happier. You can't tell they are on. They leave no residue and they are removeable and re-usable. I have had mine on for a few weeks and you can't see any scratches or even a smudge.
I recently added a leather case for extra padding and though it is a snug fit on my 60gb it would fit great with your 30gb even with the Overlay attached. I bought the Belkin case that acts as a stand when you want to watch videos. It offers some pretty good additional protection and now it will be easier to watch movies on the airplane.

  • Is the Nokia Lumia 822 buggy?

So I am in search of a new phone because I am overdue for an upgrade and my phone is not being reliable. I would care less about being able to upgrade as long as my phone works but that's not the case right now.
I been through a Droid 2, which I was dissatisfied with battery life, often crashes and long restart time. Anyways I cracked the screen multiple times and now it's put away. A friend sold me his Samsung Fascinate (Galaxy S1) and I was also dissatisfied with battery performance, crashes, and reboots. The worse is loosing contacts and application information. I gave up on setting up my emails because it has failed on me so many times and what really **** me off was loosing contacts.
Anyways I read a few reviews of the Nokia Lumia having trouble receiving text msg is this true ? Was this true, does it still happen ?
Help me out guys, I want a reliable phone.
    My top priorities
    - Battery Life
    - Stable
    - Price
    - I heard that they have good cameras does this model have a good camera also if so it would be a huge plus.

My wife currently has the Nokia Lumia 822.  She has the white version of it.  She never said that she would get used to the virtual keyboard on a smartphone (she tried using my HTC Trophy) but she loves the phone!  As far as buggy, she hasn't been having any of the problems that have been reported on the forums.  She has only had it freeze once, but I assume that it will be fixed once the Portico update is pushed out around MWC 2013.  She has had the phone for over a month.
She can receive group messages just fine.  She can get around a day and a half out of the battery.  It's a great phone.  You might have some minor issues, but like I said, she hasn't had those issues and it will be fixed once we get the Portico update.
I can say that you would be satisfied with the Lumia 822.  It's a great phone.

  • Lumia 822 wont power onn

I dont know if anyone can help me or not.  A quick search of the forum pulled up a dimilar problem but not quite the same so I'm posting this in case any one has my specific issue.
I have had my Lumia 822 since launch and it had performed nearly flawlessly.  Today, i removed the phone from the charger (USB wall charger), and it would not respond to the power button.  It just would not turn on.  I remembered I had this problem once before so I pulled the battery, replaced the back, and powered on the phone.  It powered ip no problem and the battery gauge was reporting a full battery.
my phone seems to be working fine at the moment.  now that this has happened to me twice I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem and if there is a solution.  it doesnt happen often so its really not that big of a deal for now but it would be better if I didnt have to deal with it.
    Suggestions?

  • Nokia lumia 822 - out of luck I guess

I bought the Nokia Lumia 822 when I renewed my contract. Early on the phone was randomly turning itself off during the day and at night. I do not have a land line at home and this is also my business phone. Random shut downs are not safe at night nor good for getting business calls.
In order to get it to come back on I have to either remove the battery or hold the power and volume button down for 20 seconds.
I stuck it out after reading in Verizon's forums that this was a common issue and might be fixed in a software patch release by Nokia/Microsoft.
After several patches and a recent (this week) reset to factory settings the problem has persisted. Just this week it has happened over 15 times causing missed calls.
    No software updates have helped.
The Verizon / Nokia forums still have numerous posts complaining of this issue but Verizon / Nokia does not seem to be aware of it or want to acknowledge it...
I had to reactivate my old Droid X on my line to keep a reliable phone powered on.
I did have a phone and email conversation with technical support who promised a solution and never got back to me. Now she will not respond to my emails.
I don't think another Nokia product will be purchased again.

this is the OS, not phone.  it is happening to other Nokia windows phones as well.  i've had this phone for approx 2 mths and have been told by verizon tech support that microsoft was supposed to issue the patch to correct this issue by the end of june.  ha!  i've made repeated calls to tech support, now they say patch delayed till end of july.  HA! again!!  sad part is, verizon has known this was an issue and continued to sell the phones.  i tried to return my phone within the 2 week period, but was told that the 2 weeks start on the day you ordered the phone, not received and activated it.  now i'm stuck for 2 years with a piece of crap phone.  no more windows phones for me.  i missed the 2 week mark by 24 hours.

  • Camera on Lumia 822 Developer Preview Update 8.1 GDR1 not working, needs Cyan.

About 5 months ago when the 8.1 Developer Preview was released I went ahead and got it on my Lumia 822. Everything was going great. It worked flawlessly until Updated 8.1 to the 3rd small update that was released for it. Soon after my camera stopped working and soon after that my GPS started displaying very inaccurate results. When I use any app that uses the camera it instantly crashes and I know it is a firmware issue because neither camera works. Both cameras cause the app to crash if it tries to use the camera. I updated to 8.1 GDR1 thinking it would fix it and it didn't. This happened to me 4 months ago. The community says Cyan will fix it. I have had to deal with this for 4 months. 2 months waiting for Microsoft to give it to phone companies and now 2 months waiting for Verizon to push it out. Could someone at Verizon please give an ETA? I wasn't able to take pictures all summer. Not of my summer vacation or anything. I'm begging you Verizon to push the update. At least just for Lumia 822. I'm not the only one with this issue. If you go to the WPCentral forums or just Google it, many more people are having the same issue. I know I was risking it by using a "beta OS" but come on. Updates shouldn't take this long to get pushed.

No one told you to download or install the Microsoft Developer Preview.
That is not a Verizon wireless issue. It is a Microsoft issue.
maybe you can remove it and roll back until the real updated OS is shown to be stable and available.
And this is for both posters.
I can just imagine all the posts complaining how the updates caused this not to function or that no longer works when Verizon has nothing to do with those issues either.
After it is released by the cell carriers.

  • Lumia 822 updates returning error code 80072ee2

Purchased a Lumia 822 in January.  On the web, I see the current version of software for the 822 is 8.0.10211.204, hardware is 1532.5951.1250.1012  My phone is currently on 8.0.9905.12 and 1532.2108.1244.0003  It has not informed me I have any updates.  I have gone into settings and requested them manually.  I get a 80072ee2 message "We are currently unable to check for updates."  I made sure I had +40% battery and WiFi was turned on.  In May, I called Verizon, the tech didn't have a clue, got Nokia on the phone, they said it wasn't released for my area yet.  It's now over a month later, still getting the error message.  Does that mean the release (which has been out for AT&T customers since mid-December) still isn't available in my area yet?  Or do I have a problem with my phone?

Interesting--I always started the wireless BEFORE I tried downloading the updates.  This time, since you said turn off the wifi, I tried checking for the updates with the wifi off.  It prompted me to turn it on--AFTER it found the updates.  I did, it downloaded and updated to the current version just fine.  Things the directions DON'T tell you...  I still think it's odd that it never prompted me for the update even though I have checkmarked both "Tell me when updates are available for my phone" and "Automatically download updates if my data settings allow it", but at this point, I don't care.  <GRIN>
    Thank you!

  • Nokia Lumia 822 Lumia Denim Update from Verizon

    Hello All,
I have enrolled in Developer Preview on Nokia Lumia 822. My WPhone got windows 8.10.14219.341
The firmware version is 3051.40000.1352.0042 and it shows Lumia Black in the extras + info.
When I got the Verizon update, i tried to update several times.
It successfully downloads and prepares to install.
When it reboots and try to install the patch, it finishes quickly.
    I get the message:
It's probably a temporary problem. To Try again, go to settings > Phone Update 0x80188308.
What should I do to get Lumia Denim update on my phone? Reset the phone ?
    Please advise.

    Hi TechGuru72,
Welcome to the Microsoft Mobile Community.
Your phone is not running in commercial software because of the Windows Phone Developer Preview Program. Note that it is only intended for developers. In this case, we recommend that you use the Lumia Software Recovery Tool to return it back to the normal commercial software. Check this: http://www.microsoft.com/en-ph/mobile/support/faq/?action=singleTopic&topic=FA142987.
To get the Lumia Denim update, see this: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/mobile/support/product/lumia822/softwareupdate/. For more information regarding your phone's update availability, click on this link: http://www.microsoft.com/en/mobile/support/software-update/wp8-software-update/availability-in-north....

  • Lumia 822 Bluetooth Problem

I am pairing my Lumia 822 with my 2010 Nissan Murano.  The signal is breaking up when I call someone.  This happens when I have full signal.  I have tried deleting the Bluetooth connection and re-pairing.  Doesn't help.  Any suggestions.

    Hi mate,
Have you checked that all the settings are correct on your phone and the car? If so, then try performing a soft reset (pressing the volume down and power buttons together until the phone vibrates then release). Failing that, you will need to backup all your personal data onto a PC / in the cloud, and perform a hard reset (Settings > About > Reset your phone).
IF that doesn't work, then will need to take your phone back to your point of purchase, or if they are being less than helpful, then to contact Nokia USA via http://nokia.com/support and ask them about the issue.

  • Help! Nokia Lumia 822 Amber Update Question

I just changed over to a Windows phone from Android. I purchased a Nokia Lumia 822 and installed the Amber Update yesterday.
However, I don't have any of the features from the update available on my phone. My OS version is 8.0.10327.77 and my Firmware revision number is 3045.0000.1328.1031.
Since my phone was "new" to me, I even tried resetting it to no avail.
Everytime I go to Settings>Phone Update, it says there are no updates.
Is there a way to reinstall the Amber Update?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
