Anyone else feel like an idiot?

Hi Guys,
Just wondering if anyone shares how I feel. I bought a G5 Imac 2.1 Ghz a little over a month ago, I am doing some video editing etc.....
Now with this new one out so soon, I feel like an idiot buying the other one (20' inch at $1700).... I could really use the extra speed (if it's true that it's twice as fast.)
I wish they would have offered some type of an upgrade offer for people who bought their Imacs just recently..
Anyone understand me?!!

YES!!! add me to the list!!! i'm ******, and feel like an idiot!!!
aargh!!
I was planing to wait until the intel macs came out to buy a new computer (My first Mac btw).... but when the G5 iMacs with iSight came out, i couldn't resist... and convinced myself that i would be waiting a long while till the intel macs were released... so i got one...
now i'm ******...
sure, the new ones might have a few problems, but i can handle that, i would rather that, than this G5 that is going to age FAR quicker than the new Intel ones... and my iMac is only ONE MONTH old... and it is out of date already!!
y did they release the iMac G5s with iSight at all???.. they shouldn't have.. just released the iMac Intel with iSight... GRR!!
OR they should have told us this.. frankly it is RUDE!!.. and i feel ripped off!
I even bought the 3-year extended warranty... is there anyway i can trade, or pay a little bit more and get an intel one??
is it possible to return this one?? (considering it is only 1 month old??).. then i will buy an intel one .. so apple won't really loose their money...
I am a student.. just finishing off my university studies in graphic design (college i think you call it in the states).. so i wanted a computer that would last a good while, and handle the applications etc that i need... this was a big purchase for me too, considering im a student.. infact the MOST expensive thing i own... so u can understand my frustration..
grr!!.. i feel so stupid!...
Next time, i am going to be EXTREMELY cautious buying anything from Apple... if they are lucky enough that i would consider EVER buying anything from them again!! grr!
Apple, I never expected you would be this rude, especially to a new customer... who you could have earned for life.. (i did love apple, and my ipod.. but this rudeness and inconsiderate behaviour has just changed my mind).. you are the same as all the other companies... forget my loyalty, BYE!
(PS. I am aware apple probably won't read this.. but i just had to vent my frustration..)

  • Anyone else feeling like this is more trouble than it is worth?

I am currently under the grandfather plan of unlimited data, text with 450 minutes and an employee discount. I have enjoyed the usage of my Droidx for almost 3 years now. It had a good run, but the pinch of an $80 smart phone plan just doesn't seem worth it anymore. To be honest, for me the pricing of cell phone plans is getting out of control. Like everything else it seems, prices have gone up, but per usual, my income has not.
The share-everything plans look like absolute nightmares and terrible deals, and to switch over would increase my costs by $20 for what I feel is a very bad deal, seeing as I do not use many minutes on my cell phone. Although I take very good care of my phone, I am not naive enough to think that it will last forever. 2GB data plan is hardly what I would call a pot to pee in, especially with e-mail, web, pictures, etc.  I realize the bottom line of the company is to make money, but lately it just seems like all of the hooplah that comes with smartphones is enough to try the patience of any saint. I'm contemplating alternatives, but I am not sure where to start. Perhaps it's time just to go to good old prepaid cell phone, and pretend I never had internet to begin with
I think the turning point for me today was the phone call I received from Verizon regarding my bills. I've never had a late bill in the 16 years I have been with them, but for some reason, my payment for February did not go through. The first words out of this lady's mouth were "I'm _____ from Verizon Wireless, you owe us ___________ how will you be paying your bill today?" Seriously? First time being late, and even though I have e-mail notifications, this is the crap I am greeted with upon answering the phone. No thank you, kiss my rear, nothing? What am I, chopped liver? Lol.

I personally haven't experienced much of the "reverberation/feedback" when using a headset on the i4S...
Yes, I have near-perfect hearing too (for scope, squeaky brakes hurt my ears) I come from many conversations on many phones and types and first off, CDMA technology is great for coverage, terrible for voice quality. HD Voice in Europe made for some of the best phone conversations I've ever had.
Back on track, feedback is most noticable (similar to the landline phone) when using the iPhone without a headset, but for me it's not an absolute criticality mainly because I use VoIP apps alot, so maybe it has desensitized me some over the past year.
But whenever I'm on a call, and the other person has me on speakerphone, I have alot of trouble talking because of the feedback loop caused. So the less of my voice I hear the better I can talk.
Have you tried a bluetooth headset yet?

  • Does anyone else feel that the iPhone is sluggish after update 1.1.1?

Is it just me or does anyone else feel that the iPhone feels more sluggish after update 1.1.1? I haven't unlocked or hacked the phone in any way and so it must be due to the update. I thought that the sluggish behavior could be due to a recent update and so I reset the phone. But I still feel that the iPhone has lost that responsiveness that it used to have before. Any one else experiencing this?

Yes, without question I thought typing, especially, was sluggish at first. However, after a day it has seemed to speed up and now, I'd say, is back to original performance, or close to it.
Also, I have lots of contacts (2500), and the phone has been very slow to make the first identification of email addresses when I start typing. Specifically, it freezes for several seconds after the first letter is typed. However, I believe that process is a bit faster after this update.

  • I'm syncing music to my iPhone.  My playlist has 15.96 Gig but when I go to sync it, the iPhone says 18.1 Gig of audio.  Any ideas as to why (I realize I'm probably going to feel like an idiot when I get an answer)?

Do you have any voice memos that were created on your iPhone?
    Did you include music videos?
If the iPhone isn't behaving like other iPhones, try restarting or restoring it.

  • Does anyone else feel that Apple doesn't care about the issues we have been presenting to them? I have a lot of their products and I'm fed up with none of them working like they used to.

I'm not going into detail but I've had it with my products being so crappy lately. From what I've read, Apple seems to not care as long as they are selling products. They have not acknowledged or owned up to the issues we are experiencing. I feel like maybe a boycott is in order.  I cannot be the only one that is this frustrated with my iPhone and iPad!

  • Preloader problem - feel like an idiot

I feel like a total idiot. I can't seem to get my
preloader to work. Here's my code. What am I doing wrong? The
problem is that myApp.swf loads successfully but the .onEnterFrame
function thinks that loader_mc is 1 frame and 0 bytes long.

Again, I much appreciate your help. I had put some trace
statements in trying to find out what getBytesLoaded/Total were and
they were coming back with values I didn't understand, so I kept
thinking it was trying to get the values of the empty_mc I had
instantiated instead of the thing I was trying to load and I kept
scratching my head as to why and tried a lot of different things
and was baffled. At any rate, in the end I think it's a timing
issue if I understand correctly. In other words, I think the
function started executing before it could really grab the correct
information about the .swf that I was trying to load. Is that
    right?
Oh well, I'm out of the ditch with that silly problem now and
moving on to my next set of challenges. :-)
Again, thank you so VERY much for being a willing helping
hand to us newbies out here.

  • Does anyone else feel that employees lie to you, to get you to upgrade?

I was at a home show with my wife and two friends, when a person from an authorized Verizon dealer asked who we had for phone service. we told them vetrizon and also told them that we had two smartphones for my kids and two basic phones for ourselves. because we did not want to pay anymore than what we were paying. he looked at our plan and told us that with the new plans they have we could also get smartphones for ourseves and get unlimited minutes, instead of 700 shared minutes. and that we would still be paying around the same price. That sounded really good, so he convinced us to switch. The next day I went to another Verizon dealer to make sure that the plan was switched to unlimited minutes. It was not yet changed, but he did change it while I was there. I also asked him to check the cost of the plan and told him what the other person had said. I told him that if it was not about the same as what we had been paying, we would switch back .  He told me that was correct, it was about the same. Then a couple days later we had a problem with one phone , so we had to take it to another authorized dealer near us. I also had them check what my cost would be for our plan, otherwise we would switch back to our old plan. And he also told me it was about the same. NOW I get my second bill and it is around  $40 more, and  they tell me that's what it is.  they must of come up with the wrong amount before, and that is what I must pay.  Yet 3 different people assured me it was less ( when I still had time to switch back)  I feel like they trick you into switching,  nowing that you will not have a choice later.

  • Anyone else feel as sad as I do? Left out of the reception/proximity issues

I hope of the 1.7 million phones sold, someone else loves and enjoys there iPhone 4 as much as I do or am I completely alone?
I waited on-line the average 14 or so hours to finally get my phone. The experience was incredible, I met a load of new friends and really had a good time. I did get up @ 4am on pre-order day and expecting massive overload, just patiently waited and was able to reserve my phone for pickup, but again, from the noise and complaints, I assume I was the only one in the country who was just THAT lucky and followed the very simple directions. It took me about 1 1/2 hours, but again, I completely expected it, no surprise.
I've always keep a case on my phones, they really do get quite a bit of abuse, so I bought the bumper the day I got my phone. Then the fun began! I was 100% content with my phone, it did everything it was supposed to and then some! The retina display had to be seen to be appreciated and the speed and multitasking is great.
But then, the sadness started... People were screaming that if you hold it just a certain way, your bars go down. Well I wanted to be part of the group, but try as I can, nope, nothing. And I asked everyone else that was lucky enough to have one, nope no-one. Hummmm. Then I see a law suit! Dang, can I be part of it? Please? I always wanted to be part of a class action for ummm a phone who's bar's drop when you hold it jussssttttt right. I mean if THAT's not a reason to tie our legal system up for years in pointless nonsense, I just don't know what would be. It's not like you could return the phone if you have a problem with it, right? I knew once I bought it, I have NO choice but to keep it for at least 2 years. I've read many other posts in this discussion area and why else would so many people bitterly complain and not just return the phone? It really makes no sense. If I was unhappy with a product, boom, see ya!
Then I was hoping I could be part of the proximity sensor issues, dang, NO again!!! And I bet thats also important enough to have a class action and I won't be apart of that either.
O'Well, I guess I can just sit here sadly using my perfect iPhone. Ummmm, sometimes when I hang up, it takes an extra second to show me the screen, perhaps a class action?

I on the other hand is left out because my gf took my iPhone 4 away from me! Because she said I was obsessed with it and forgot about her, LOL. Yeah I was not only obsessed about the nice retina display and A4 processor but also the reception and voice quality issues.
I got the phone on the 23rd of July and was sadden by the antenna.....the Bluetooth..... then the speaker phone.... and finally the proximity sensor.
I live in an area with a weak 3G signal where I experience SEARCHING... when I hold my phone to try to make a call..... call failed..... That's the first call right out of the box on 23rd of July. My 3GS and other phones do not experience anything similar.
I thought I could use a Bluetooth headset to solve the antenna issue. Then people started complaining about hearing my muffled voice. It happened all the time when people called me and complained that they couldn't hear me. So I had to switch to the speakerphone. Unfortunately, the speakerphone voice quality was not good either. People told me that I sounded muffled, choppy, and distorted. I then finally used my hand holding the iPhone 4 in the "right way" and started talking using the ear piece and the noise cancelling microphone. Too bad the proximity sensor was acting weird. It happened when I slightly tilted the phone and everytime when the phone was not in contact with the tip of my ear, the screen turned ON. With me not noticing the screen turned phone, my ear swiped across the screen and hung up my call.
You guys are happy with your iPhone 4 because you are living in a strong signal area, or you may never or seldom use the other features. However, not using other features doesn't mean your iPhone 4 is perfect. Try and go to an area with slightly weaker signal running at 1900 MHz frequency band and take off your bumpers. Use a Bluetooth headset regardless of any type of brand and ask people to call you. If they can't hear you, then use speaker phone, when they still can't hear you, then go back to your "PERFECT" position, using the earpiece.
But that still doesn't guarantee you have a perfect iPhone 4, because you may not experience the problem at the right situation.

  • Feel like an IDIOT asking this

Ok... I'm an old guy trying to figure out this Dinc thing.  I don't think I'm an idiot.  But HOW DO YOU CLOSE AN APP????
I have AppKiller which can kill off an app, but when I open the Internet window, I can't find a Quit option in the menu.  I thought that was insane, then I noticed none of my apps have a quit.  This can't be right so I must have missed something in the 300+ pages of my manual?

To follow is from one of the articles. i've inserted my response/experience after each statement. So… the TL;DNR Version:
Android is hard coded to automatically kill a task when more memory is needed. do you really want to wait for more memory to be required to terminate a program?
Android is hard coded to automatically kill a task when it’s done doing what it needs to do. then why are there anywhere from 5-15 apps running every time i check?
Android is hard coded to automatically kill a task when you haven’t returned to it in a long time. again...many apps are always running? some that i never even started?
Most services (while possibly running in the background) use very little memory when not actively doing something. "very little" sure....but they are still using memory!
A content provider is only doing something when there is a notification for it to give. Otherwise it uses very little memory. again...still using memory.
Killing a process when it isn’t ready only causes it to have to reload itself and start from scratch when it’s needed again. if you want the app to stay open, just put it on the "ignore list" of your app killer.
Because a task is likely running in the background for a reason, killing it will only cause it to re-spawn as soon as the activity that was using it looks for it again. And it will just have to start over again. so what? if it'll restart...and if it's a vital app to you then use the "ignore list." (clock, calendar, etc)
Killing certain processes can have undesirable side effects. Not receiving text messages, alarms not going off, and force closes just to name a few. see above. if you use third party apps for email, mms, sms, etc....you just have to "ignore" those apps. but the killer DOES not kill the stock messaging or email programs.
The only true way to prevent something from running at all on your phone would be to uninstall the .apk. true...but you can at least kill the dozen apps running with one touch (if you use the widget instead of the app)
Most applications will exit themselves if you get out of it by hitting “back” until it closes rather than hitting the “home” button. But even with hitting home, Android will eventually kill it once it’s been in the background for a while. OR...you can kill it immediately with an app killer!
here's the deal.....if you learn how to use it properly an app killer is valuable. not necessary, but convenient. if you know how to use the ignore list and include what you need to, then i have yet to see how it can cause any harm. i'm no expert, but have had the inc with app killer for 4 months and love it!!! anyone can correct me if any of my input is inaccurate.

  • Anyone else feeling considerable lag/slowdowns after the latest update?

Everything from opening Safari to launchpad and Word, my Mac has become laggy after the latest security update just a couple of days ago. Even the downloads window takes longer time to open. Theres even mouse lag and lag even when I type at some instances. I can tell and feel when my Mac slows down.

When you see a beachball cursor or the slowness is especially bad, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.

  • Does anyone else feel that the Photoshop CS5 type tool hates them?

As a general rule I have no problems with PS CS5 and enjoy many of the features. Just struggled through the Classroom in a Book chapter on Typographic Design and find that getting the type tools and the text to behave is just a complete siege. it will not highlight properly, will not format all the selected text. Paragraph, Vertical and Horizontal all behave badly. God forbid you should right-align text and then highlight and the flashing cursor size bares no relation to the size of font to be typed; no crashes though. Complete nightmare. Am I alone? The only program I have found more anti-typography was (shudder) Corel 11 many moons back...a dark, dark time. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate and am all up to date on patches. First time on the forum so apologies for any lapse in ettiquette. Any help appreciated.

What video card do you actually have?  It's possible even the latest drivers are buggy, especially if it's one that's no longer currently being supported or if it's very new.
Are you sure no fonts have been added to your system?  Just visiting web pages can add fonts.  If you'd like to double check the list you have, I have a freshly installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 test system on which I just did a listing of the fonts in the \Windows\Fonts folder:

  • Anyone else feeling really good about their purchase?

I will admit, I had my doubts when Production Premium CS3 was announced. Sure the marketing sounded great and the examples and demos looked really good but as we all have learned, what you see is not always what you get.
Having had some time to play around with this suite, I find myself amazed with the value that Adobe has provided. There doesnt seem to be anything that you cant do with these apps. From OnLocation to Premiere to AE & Photoshop. Thus far, my fav app from the bunch has to be Soundbooth. Adobe has just made things a helluva lot easier. Will this guarantee Hollywood success? Of of course not but it surely increases the chances more now than ever before.
The plethora of features and apps make it seem to be impossible to become an expert at the all especially before CS4 ships. One thing is for sure that software has finally provided us a much more stable ground to build our visions. The only limitation I can see from this offering is our own imagination but then again, thats what brainstorm is for. :)
    Good job Adobe.

My experience on many other mutlimedia site contradicts your rosy view of the problems many users are having with CS3 and CS4 while Adobe begins to turn its attention to a pure 64 bit version.
I am keenly anticpating the answer(s) on this form to be... UPGRADE and "oh, why would you WANT to do THAT?" !
You may be prepared to state anything, and yet, somehow, it doesn't invalidate hundreds of users who find NO ANSWERS forthcoming from Adobe on the myriad of problems that perisist from verision to version.
As for my attitude, you may think as you wish, but I don't subscribe to a "tinkerbell will live if we all believe" method of customer support.
I FINALLY got Encore to spit out a useable blu-ray BUT I had to name the project "disk" and save the project in the root OS directory or it would endlessly give an "Error 6" code and double or triple the size of the assets to be encoded and abort the project.
I was only able to do this after finding the solution on Creative Cow, when another desperate user tried guess after guess after guess when Adobe REFUSED to admit there was a problem.
Say what you will about how warm and fuzzy Adobe makes you feel, but I feel the opposite right now and don't care to hear the glossing over by fans.
