It flashes amber when there is some kind of conflict. If the internet is working but the amber light bothers you, airport utility ahould tell you why your airport is reporting a problem.
If airport utility thinks your airport is normal and the amber light bothers you, do a hard reset on the device

Battery Backup light comes on for no apparent reason
Every so often the light on the battery backup unit (BBU) that indicates the unit is using battery power comes on even though there was no power failure and there is AC power to the unit. The first time this happened I called FIOS tech support and they indicated that if the light was on, the unit was operating off of battery power even if AC power was available, and that I would need to reset the unit. They then took me through the procedure for resetting the unit:
1) Open the case to the BBU.
2) Unplug the battery.
3) Unplug the AC power.
4) Wait at least 3 minutes.
5) Plug the battery back in.
6) Plug in the AC power.
This seems to do the trick and I assume it also resets the ONT.
I have 2 questions:
1) Why would the unit decide to operate off of battery power when there was AC power available and there had been no loss of AC power to begin with?
2) Is it true that if the battery light is on the unit is operating off of battery power even in the presence of AC power?
Any thoughts on these question would be appreciated.Fan

Queues in READY status for no apparent reason
Dear All,
This question has been posted many times but never saw a conclusive answer on this forum.
To repeat, I see queues being built in READY status in APO inbound for no apparent reason.
All settings of scheduler being fine (SMQS - Type R), there are large number of queues awaiting to be manually unlocked from READY status and they get cleared on unlock. There are no waiting queues but still entries in say an update of a stock queue are like 70+. I am able to clear them manually but that would be stupidity when I am talking of 30K queues build up thus.
Its not that not a single queue is moving. Some are getting processed (RUNNING) on their own but thats at snails speed as compared to the queues in READY.
I have scheduled the report /SAPAPO/RCIFRESTART that seems to have scheuled something in the background but I cant trace that job.

If you have 'many' queues 'RUNNING' for a long period of time, LUWs that are inline behind them will eventually stop trying. You can restart these queues with the /SAPAPO/RCIFRESTART program mentioned above.
There are lots of ways to tune queues to meet business requirements. Speak to your local CIF expert.
Some people use a job to run /SAPAPO/RCIFRESTART on a regular schedule. I have seen a system where this job is scheduled to run hourly.
30K queues is not really reasonable. If you always have this backlog, then there is a performance issue that needs to be addressed (SCM is not able to process the data as fast as ECC is sending). If this is a startup, then you just have to be patient. Initial loads can sometimes take days to fully clear all queues, especially if the SCM is sized a bit on the small side. Continue restarting until you have cleared all queues, then see if they begin to build again.

Airport Express status light is flashing yellow
My Airport Express status light is flashing yellow. It has worked in the past, but not recently. I thought it might be a location problem so I moved it to within 6 ft of the computer and it is still happening. I tried the reset button and that didn't do anything. Any other ideas?

I was checking another thing, usually the switches we use here in my work supports a maximum of 14W per port or 15.4w, this wap is consuming 15.2w
Is this the problem??
the strange to me is that,in this same sw I have several WAP and they all use 12.2w
The device type in sw for WAP usually appears as LAP1131AG-AIR-E-K9 ... but this WAP appears as Ieee PD ...

Status light flashes. Apple on TV.
Been using Apple TV more frequently lately. All of a sudden status light flashing continuously and an apple on the screen. I have unplugged everything for an hour and still no luck. held down menu button and other buttons...no luck. Please help so we can watch Apple TV again! Do I need to "reboot"? If so, how!

3 status lights flash rapidly only after unplugging it stop
Whenever I use Airport setup assistant to make changes to my existing setting, and when the base station should be restarted it stops sending a signal and then all three status lights flash rapidly and also simultaneously. This is a replacement base station as the previous had its wan port fried. When it was first plugged in it gave this same problem. Only after plugging out the power chord and waiting for say 1 minute, then plugging it back in did the flashing stop and the base station started sending a signal again. This also occurred during the first set up using airport admin utility. It hasnt happened since (when using admin utility) but continues to happen when I use airport setup assistant. Is it sumthing I should be worried about?
Sounds like your Airport Base Station is operating just fine - I wouldn't worry about it.

Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.

Apple TV connected to a 2005 50" plasma monitor with DVI input via belekin HDMI to DVI cable. Unit worked perfectly long enough to get it connected to the wireless network and begin the itunes registration process when there was a loss of signal message on the screen from the monitor and the Apple TV status light flashed rapidly and continuously. Reset and reboot yeilded flashing rapid status light and no output detected from the monitor. I contacted support online and was told to return the unit to the apple store. I returned home with another brand new apple tv and connected it in the same manner with exactly the same results. Is there something with the HDMI - DVI interface that is causing this? Are there known issues with the HDMI - DVI connection to Apple TV with older plasma monitors?
The Apple TV doesn't actually support DVI. Some have managed to get it to work others have had varying issues with it.

Application will quit.
Follow the prompts and install it.
Restart computer. Relaunch Safari.

Photoshop CS4 and CC/CS6 crashing for no apparent reason (Windows 7)
I’m currently having a serious problem with my Photoshop CS4 where it continuously crashes, for no apparent reason, since July 16, 2013. I have done everything recommended via Adobe forum to try and fix this problem though it still persists. It crashes randomly and I am usually unable to use Photoshop for more than 20 minutes. Since this incident, I thought that perhaps updating my Photoshop to the current version i.e. Photoshop CC would fix the problem. Thankgod AE still works but yeah ps 3d system is the culprate here b/c It worked perfectly for 4 months for me until i tried there crappy ps 3d system!

Firefox 15.1 stops responding for no apparent reason!
As the title says, Firefox 15.1 stops responding for no apparent reason!
I just did a re-format of my system disk and I re-installed Vista 64-bit on it. I have obviously re-installed everything from Windows updates to chipset, graphics and sound drivers. I also pulled down the latest and greatest version of Firefox which at the time is 15.1. So installed that too.
Every now and then Firefox just stops responding for no apparent reason. It looks like it is processing the request (after clicking a link etc.) but it then it's just a silence... nothing happens!
It doesn't even say it can't load the page and Windows doesn't even say that it has stopped responding. Not even after I click like crazy on the Firefox interface like different buttons and tabs and on the web page... not even then does it say "not responding" in the title bar of the window, which is usually the case when you deal with programs that are not responding immediately (you get that dialog that asks you if you would like to close the program or search for solutions online). Just nothing!... it's only quite and does nothing....
At the same time, all other programs are working flawlessly, such as the Explorer (Windows Explorer), or even Internet Explorer. And Internet connection is not lost!
I have no add-ons or extensions installed whatsoever. I just installed Firefox! I haven't even had the time to install Java yet. All I have is Adobe Flash player. That's the only extra. Otherwise it's in its' original form, default settings, etc, etc, etc.
Why is it acting up like this?...
I'm surprised that there even is such a thing as Firefox 15. This one came at the end of August, correct?
I have been on Firefox 14.x something before I re-installed Vista. For a good reason so! This is why I hate the new update model of Firefox and I don't jump on the next train (version) unless it's safe and I'm having compatibility issues with the one I use at the moment. This is why my first step after installing Firefox always is to disable automatic updates! I hate it when the software vendors are pushing out their latest software versions forcefully.
Frankly, I think this new Firefox version of yours is crap. It's not properly tested and it doesn't belong in the official release channel. This is more like a nightly build or something. It probably has some memory leak, despite the promises made by Firefox engineers that it will not have memory leaks and that it would be the fastest version of Firefox ever. I don't really need a faster browsing, I need a stable browser for reliable browsing. The speed of this Firefox version is close to ZERO! When it's not responding at all...
I have been a fan of Firefox since 0.8. I will be probably ditching this latest version and going back to an older version like 13 or 14 that's more closer to the reality and not in this fantasy world of fastest, greatest, latest, version this, version that, latest features. I just want a browser that works man!... I'm getting tired of Firefox. I may even ditch it altogether in favor of.... I don't know.... Safari?... Chrome?.... I might even go back to Internet Explorer after like 12 years of absence.please try to uninstall the adobe flash plugin from the windows control panel. afterwards manually delete any leftover files in ''C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash'' and download & install the plugin again (uncheck the option to install the bundled security software): www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer

Ethernet suddenly stopped working for no apparent reason
My late 2011 MBP is usually functioning as a desktop with external display and keyboard/trackpad, so I have it connected via ethernet when it's on the desk. However, my connection suddenly stopped working for no apparent reason.......... BUT clearly not a router problem as there's no problem with the wifi connection. System Preferences > Network > Ethernet is telling me:
Status: Connected. Ethernet has a self-assigned IP address and will not be able to connect to the internet.
Dunno how this happened, as to my knowledge I didn't actually do anything to cause this problem, just randomly stopped working. Any solutions much appreciated, thanks :-)Please post a screenshot of the Network preference pane. Be careful not to include any private information.
