  • On my RMBP (10.8.2) Aperture 3.4.3 won't start due to a database error

On my RMBP (10.8.2) Aperture 3.4.3 will not start due to a database error.  Command+Option start of Aperture is giving me the same error and not giving me a repair/rebuild choice.  My iPhoto library (migrated from iPhoto to Aperture a couple of weeks ago) is kept on an external LaCie SSD which I have been unmounting when I take the MBP to work.  I did notice earlier today that I had a '/Volumes/LaCie' and '/Volumes/LaCie 1'.  Rebooting the MBP caused the '/Volumes/LaCie 1' to go away and I only see '/Volumes/LaCie' now.
The precise error I'm getting is "There was an error opening the database for the library “/Volumes/LaCie/iPhoto Library”. "
    Suggestions?

It was in the middle of a Flickr sync and I disconnected the external LaCie cable (Thunderbolt) because I coult not get the disk to dismount because  Aperture had it open while sync'ing.  A lesson learned was to unset the automatic Flickr sync option from Aperture.
This can corrupt your Aperture library, and even the file system on the drive so that you may be unable to mount it. Really no good idea.
Aperture has a buil-in facility to stop running activities. Launch the Activity Viewer (from the main menu bar):
         Window > Show Activity.
In this window you can see the status of ongoing activities and may cancel them safely.

  • Downloaded Muse CC trial won't start

Downloaded Muse Trial and when started it gets stuck at the splash cree. How can I uninstall this and try downloading again? Adobe Cloud says it's 'up to date' and will not let me download again.

Uninstall and try re-installing using the following links:
    Win - http://www.adobe.com/go/muse_latest_win
    Mac - http://www.adobe.com/go/muse_latest_mac
If that doesn't work either, you might have to clear Muse's preferences/cache as detailed here - http://forums.adobe.com/message/5086018#5086018

  • CS 5 extended trial won't start downloading

I went over to the download site to download the trial. Nothing happens if I click the button. I don't get an error, pop-up or anything. I went through the registration and it appears to have gone through, though it did hang on it.  I also downloaded the light room trial and that downloaded fine.  I'm confused why I'd have trouble downloading the photoshop cs5 extended trial. I checked my system requirements and it shouldn't be a problem.

I'm still wondering if this was a compatibility issue with my web browser. I use Opera.
    Version:
    10.62  Build 8437  Platform Mac OS X  System 10.6.4
Anyways, I got tired of waiting and trying to figure it out and used safari. When it gave me the option to log in, I logged in and then the download started. (I didn't get this option on Opera) I still don't know if anyone else uses Opera and has had trouble downloading certain things off the site.  I would have liked to hear more responses from the community about this issue.

  • Aperture 2.1.2 won't start on iMac

Hope someone can help me with the following problem: I am trying to run Aperture 2.1.2 on my iMac (Mac OS X 10.4.11) with the following specs: Intel Core Duo 2GHz (early 2006) with 2GB RAM (just installed) and an ATI Radeon 1600 128MB.
According to Apple the specs should be fine, but after installation of Aperture and updating to the newest version the following is happening:
I doubleclick the Aperture icon, the Aperture logo screen comes up for a couple of seconds and then it crashes, generating an error report (first sections attached below).
I have tried several things like re-installing, updating again and again, repairing permissions and putting new RAM into the system (that was after an Apple Genius member of staff had a look at the error report and thought it's because of bad RAM).
    Anyone any ideas?
    Thanks
    Tinos

    Hi,
A couple of weeks later and the situation is as following:
-I updated the RAM and upgraded to 2GB
-The DVD works fine as I was able to install and run Aperture on my MacBook
-I contacted Apple Support and their conclusion so far is that they don't know what is corrupted and I should erase my HD and reinstall Mac OS X
-But when I log on as root I am able to run Aperture on that same iMac!!
Interestingly, when I install a new user account (thinking that there must be something corrupt in my account profile, settings etc.) - nothing. Aperture crashes as always.
Any idea what is different in the root account that doesn't clash with Aperture? I have checked wrx rights and they are fine. Any idea how to solve this without having to erase HD?
    Cheers
    Tino

    Hello Frank,
We have found the solution!! It was  indeed the instal of FinalCut Pro that made this error for Aperture. So we have found another forum that said the issue is indeed Final Cut Pro http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3528
So after installing the Os X combo update it works fine now! We are so happy that these forums exist.

    What do you think ?

my best guess would be that somehow the 1.1 installer put a PowerPC version of the ProKit framework when it should have installed the Intel version of this framework.
hate to say it, but i would probably suggest uninstalling aperture, then re-installing 1.0, apply the 1.0.1 update, then install 1.1 again.
either that, or dig around inside the package installer file and try to find the right framework, extract it and put it where it belongs. but that's just prone to failure and if it were my MacBook, i'd never have confidence that there wasn't something else messed up with the installation that wouldn't rear its ugly head in front of an important client.
re-installing aperture is probably your best bet here.
you could also try to re-download the updater. maybe its something they missed last minute and has been fixed with a quite update to the installer.

    Hi MFGTG,
    1. I would advise you to please go to
    2. Applicatoins>utilities>Adobe Installers
    3. Try to find if there is any uninstaller for the CS6.
    4. If you find the uninstaller then simply uninstall the application and then reinstall it.
    Thanks
    Kapil

  • Aperture 3.1.1 quits at start up.

I purchased Aperture 3.1.1 through the App Store and everything was working fine until just now when I got in and tried to load the application. Now every time I try to start Aperture I get an error message telling me that it won't work with this version of OSX!
I can't install the update because I've already got the latest release, and the App Store won't let me reinstall the Application either.
I'm running OSX 10.6.6 and I'm purchased the latest version of Aperture as well (3.1.1). My computer is a 2.16gHz Intel core 2 duo 24" White iMac with 3GB of RAM.
Can anybody help me out with explaining what might have gone wrong here?

Thank you for the help and advice. I don't know if I've solved the problem permanently yet but it appears to be working now, and the way I got it to work was to download the trial version and start using that. Now ehenI launch Aperture from the doc it shows it as v3.1.1 not v3 as the trial version is.
This might help anyone else with the same problem I suppose.
Thanks again for help and advice.
Btw: I don't have Final Cut on my machine but I am planning to so Is there a clash between the two?

  • Photoshop elements won´t start

Hallo Adobe Photoshop elements 12 won´t start. The editor does not start, the organizer has no problmes. I have reinstall the programm (sorry is english is not so good) because i had installed new hardware. (Mainboard, CPU, RAM). After restarting the systems the programm worked fine. After some days elements was only in trial-mode. First I irgnired it but then i deinstalled it an  reinstalled it on a new ssd. Installing and entering the CD-Key was no problem. Organizer launched without any problems but the photoeditor does not start. Log-Files are okay, no errors while install-progress. I did everything, reinstalling, using ccleaner and i tried to delete manuelly everything with "photshop elements" in the regestry (with new installation after that....).
Running the setup und the exe as admin did´nt help.
has anybody a solution for me or  a direkt link to contact adobe?

try uninstalling, cleaning (Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6) and then installing.

  • X11 won't start (sets monitor to standby) with nVidia card

    Hello everyone!
I'm having some trouble getting my computer to work properly. Yesterday it was working perfectly, but today it would't start again. After some troubleshooting I've determined that the problem lies with X11 and the graphics driver. The bootloader, grub, and arch itself, boots perfectly in runlevel 3, but the moment you run "startx" it would appear to be loading for a while and finally the screen goes to standby mode and there is no way out of that other than reseting the computer using the reset button. I've tried uninstalling the nvidia drivers and installing nouveau drivers, but it still won't start X, this time arround, it would just hang up with a white screen.
I've also tried removing xorg.conf and also using nvidia utility to generate a new one, but neither seems to work.
/var/log/Xorg.0.log doesn't report any errors, it just gives different info from the configuration and the graphics card and just ends there.
I've tried booting with a debian live USB but it would't boot either (the computer would just restart). I've also tried a Kubuntu live USB, this time arround, it would start to boot but the graphics appeared to be corrupted (strange colored noise all over the screen) and eventually it would just hang up. Using nomodeset Kubuntu finally booted (using vesa I guess?), but the same didn't work in Arch (I'm guessing because I have the nvidia drivers installed instead of nouveau).
In conclussion, something appears to be wrong with the graphics card, I dont't know if it's a software problem or a hardware problem, as it started from one day to the other, without any upgrades in between, and it just doesn't work in any of the 3 distributions I've tested.
Any suggestions in what to do to troubleshoot this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Santiago.-
