Aperture3.0.1Update Doesn't Find Aperture 3.4

The 3.0.1 Updater reports that "Aperture 3.0 or later is required to install this update." Of course I have Aperture 3.0 in my Applications folder. How can I get the updater to find Aperture 3.0?

Thanks, Ailish. That did it! I'd had to delete several things there to get A3 to realize that I was entitled to the upgrade, but not that particular file. It's a shame that Apple's installer for A3 is not as "smart" as Adobe's installer for Lightroom. But at least now I can see if A3 is a worthy competitor for LR2 and LR3 (due to be released in a month or two).

  • After update to yosemite screensaver doesn't find aperture library albums

After I updated to Yosemite the screensaver doesn't seem able to find aperture library albums.
When I select an aperture library album (last 3 months) the screensaver is initially able to find this album. After a while and for sure after a restart, it uses the default  'National Geographic'.
It looks like it takes a long time for the screensaver to open the selected album and then it finally takes the default folder.
    Does anybody have an idea?

Screen Saver changes on it’s own
Another workaround is to delete the pictures in the National Geographic folder and add your picture there. Hard drive level Library/ScreenSavers.

  • Aperture: After changed the file name in Finder Aperture can't load the referenced file anymore

After I've changed the file name/format in Finder Aperture can't load/relink to the referenced file anymore. For some reasons I don't like to reimport the file.

As you told, the command "Locate Referenced File" doesn't work, if the filename doen't match exactly. And the filenames should keep their new names.
"Locate Referenced File" will be able to reconnect one file at a time, if you direct Aperture to the matching file in the Loate Referenced File dialog, but it will not be able to recognise the other matching referenced files and to reconnect them all at once with the "Reconnect All" button.
It will be a lot of work to reconnect the one by one.  Usually it is much easier to rename the original master files using Metadata > Batch change in Aperture than to try to do that in the Finder.

  • IPhoto can't find Aperture library files

Since Apple added the ability to open Aperture libraries in iPhoto, I've been unable to so with my main Aperture library.  If I create a new library in Aperture, no problem.  Upgraded the library when the latest versions were released, performed all command-option first aid when opening, multiple times, duplicated, moved the library between different drives, relocated originals (it was completely managed), checked and played with permissions, all to no avail.  When I open iPhoto, it brings up a notification that it's updating thumbnails.  Then I immediately get the error "The photo “xxxxxxxx.JPG” could not be opened, because the original item cannot be found."  I cancel and another immediate error, this continues on seemingly forever, and, with thousands of pictures in the library, I've basically got to Force Quit.  The library is on an external drive and I've tried this on 3 Macs with the same result.  If I'm within Aperture and search for any of the photos that iPhoto couldn't find, they're there and Aperture can show me them in the Finder.  However, what I noticed today is that if I perform a manual search from the Finder of the library, it doesn't find the file.  Oddly, if there are similar names; img_001 and img_001(1), searching for "img_001" won't show the first exactly matching file at all, but will show the second.  Although, I can browse and they're sitting there right next to each other.  Again, same behavior on multiple Macs.  I'm thinking that the Finder behavior and iPhoto issue may be related.  Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    Dave

    Léonie,
    Results as follows:
    Mac-Mini:~ Dave$ ls -B /Volumes/My\ Passport\ for\ Mac/Photos/IMG_0030.JPG
    /Volumes/My Passport for Mac/Photos/IMG_0030.JPG
    Mac-Mini:~ Dave$ ls -B /Volumes/My\ Passport\ for\ Mac/Photos/IMG_0030\ \(1\).JPG
    /Volumes/My Passport for Mac/Photos/IMG_0030 (1).JPG
The first command shows one of the problem files.  Second command shows a similar file that has no issues. Nothing apparent problems to me from this test.
I also copied the problem file along with the non-problem file with the similar filename (1) to my desktop.  When I begin any search string, the problem file disappears.  If I completely rename it including extension, it disappears. If I make a copy and change it's name, neither show up.  It seems as though there is some attribute of this file, all copies, and a bunch of others in my photo database, that is causing some kind of issue.  I've taken a look at both file's info and there appears to be no differences, including permissions.  Appears to be more of a file system/finder problem.  I may try a different community.
    Thanks again.

  • My ipad doesn't find my printer....

How do I make my hp 3510 discoverable to my ipad? The wireless printing works from my laptop which has the same wifi settings, but the ipad cannot find the printer????

    Hi Kiwisteve77,
I understand the Ipad doesn't find the printer.
    Thank you for your reply.
I will be happy to help you with this.
Try turning the wi-fi off and on again on the Ipad.
If that doesn't work turn the Ipad off and on again.
Check to make sure it is connected to the proper network.
Power cycle the router, Ipad and the printer and try it again if you are still having issues.
I have provided a document for How to Use Apple's AirPrint Over a Wireless Network. Go to the section What if a 'No AirPrint Printers Found' message displays on my Apple device?
    Hope this helps.
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

When I launch I photo it wants me to choose a library but it doesn't find one which is impossible, because i still have no storage. before i can clean up i want to back up them. how can i find my library?

You may very well have damaged your library - or even your system by not having adaquate storage available
And never select all of the pitcture and move them - that will destroy your library - the iPhotolibrary is a SQLite database and must always be kept intact as a single entity -
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

  • ICal search doesn't find anything

when I test this by creating a future event with a particular word in it, then return to today and search for that word in the little "search" box at top right, it doesn't find that word.
    Why not?

I have also had long standing problems of not being able to search for calendar events, either from within iCal or Spotlight or using mdfind.
None of the suggested solutions worked for me (removing Calendar Cache file, adding and removing folders or drives to the privacy section of Spotlight to re-index, or running mdimport ~/Library/Calendars.
One clue was that mdimport -d2 ~/Library/Calendars would not even look at the individual .ics files within any .calendar/Events directory (no output). I suspected that this was due to LaunchServices not associating these files properly with iCal. My system had previously been upgraded all the way from 10.0 through 10.6.
What finally worked for me was the following, using the Terminal, rebuilding completely the LaunchServices database:
    rm /Library/Caches/com.apple.LaunchServices*.csstore
    *defaults delete com.apple.LaunchServices*
    *sudo /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServi ces.framework/Support/lsregister -kill*
*sudo /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServi ces.framework/Support/lsregister -R -domain local -domain system -domain user*
(note the capital -R in the previous line.)
This step will take a few minutes to complete, with a message about I/O throttleing
reboot (not sure if that is necessary)
    *mdimport -d2 ~/Library/Calendars*
This last command should now show the successful indexing of all calendar events.
After this search finally worked again for me!

    Heiko

  • Search engine doesn't find vcards

The search engine in Address book doesn't find cards that exist in my ALL. They were cards imported via Time Machine. Any way I can get AB to index it's content ?

  • Find palette doesn't find the IPCT category  field

I have all my pictures by categories and suplemental categories. The "find" tool doesn't find anything if for example I type ARC (architecture), no matter if I select containing, containing all, starting or all metadata, all, etc... It seems that it doesn't search in some IPCT fields, at least in the category and suplemental category.

You are right. "find" will find IPTC entries in caption, say, but not in category. I guess it's like EXIF, where it's only make, model, serial number, artist, and software.

  • The "Search" function box doesn't find things that are there! Why?!

The "Search" function box doesn't find things that are there! Why? Eg: It doesnt show all my Sent and Received emails, but it will find an email that I half wrote and deleted. Unsure why or how to explain more fully.
I also don't understand if I type in "James email" or "J" into the search box and all the J / James stuff appears but it doesn't show the emails I know have been sent and I know are somewhere because I rang "James" up to check, but the search box shows random thing I am NOT looking for, even if I type in fully what I am looking for and test it by typing in full titles of things.
It also doesn't store all my sent emails in "Sent" box. Confused! I'm not sure if the "Search" box just isn't up to the job or if it is broken / i'm doing something wrong? Maybe the email address I use isn't set up properly?

This can happen sometimes if the cache is not cleared correctly when items are not deleted from your device.
The only solution to this is to do a restore to clean out the cache file.

  • Satellite L855D doesn't find my CD/DVD drive

    Hello!
I don't know what has happened to my computer but it doesn't find CD/DVD drive anymore.
I guess I may have deleted some necessary drive but not on purpose anyway.
Is there any way to recover it?
I have tried RmvFltrs which I found from some Toshiba's tech support site via Google search but it didn't help.
It stated that it worked but my computer tells me the installation couldn't be done.
I'm not in a desperate need of the drive to work, I'm just wondering whether it is possible to make it work somehow. So if someone could help me with this I'd be more than glad.
    Sincerely,
    Joonas

I mean that it isn't shown in "My Computer" anymore or if I try to install something from a CD it doesn't work since the drive doesn't work.
I can find it from device manager yes but it gives me this "code 52" and says the digital signature cannot be verified. There's this yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it too. Does this help at all?

  • Disk Utility says everything's fine, but Install disk doesn't find my internal drive as a possible destination. When I startup with Command   S, I get a looping "cannot mount errno = 19" message.

Disk Utility says everything's fine, but Install disk doesn't find my internal drive as a possible destination. When I startup with Command + S, I get a looping "cannot mount errno = 19" message.
Problem started when I used Tech Tool Pro 6 to "de-fragment volume". Had to cancel that process before it finished because I ran out of time. Thereafter, when I startup my machine normally, I get the gray Apple logo at first, but it changes to a prohibited symbol (circle with a slash thru it) and hangs.
When I startup holding the Option key, I can see my internal drive, but I get the same results as above.
When I startup using the MacBook OSX Install DVD, it does not find my internal drive as possible destination.
When I startup using the MacBook OSX Install DVD and then run Disk Utility, it finds my drive, allows me to "repair" and says everything is fine.
When I startup with Command + S, I get a looping error message "errno = 19" and cannot stop it to do anything else.
When I startup from Disk Warrior v4.4, it does not find my internal drive to do any repairs.
When I startup from Tech Tool Pro 6 and run the "computer check" diagnostics, everything passes but the Volume Structure, which fails at "Volume Extents (B-tree)." When I use TTP's "Tools" option to run "volume repair" it will show my internal drive and allow me to click the GO button, but nothing happens and nothing changes.
I have a Time Machine backup on an external USB drive, but for as long as the internal drive doesn't mount, I can't use the backup to restore.

It's a false report and should be ignored.
I would not rely on TT as I've already said earlier even before Grant posted similar advice.
I really think the Rigid Disk Block may be corrupted. This holds the partition map and could prevent a volume from being unmounted. Unfortunately, there is no way to fix that without repartitioning the drive which will remove everything. So, before going down this road I hope you have backups or can make a backup.
    Drive Partition and Format
    1. Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.
    5. Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

  • I have an issue with time machine, it doesn't find the Lacie external driver it use to use. it is the same drive that I usaly use for time machine back ups. It is corectly plugged. What can I do ?

    Hi,
I'm trying to back up my macbook with time machine on the Lacie external driver I usualy use for this, but today my computer doesn't find the driver. I haven't done back up in 6 month.
Today, the Lacie driver is pluged and running, but the computer just does'nt find it.
    what shall I do ?

    Some things to consider:
Is the drive mounted, i.e., visible via Finder and/or on the Desktop?
Is the drive still selected in System Preferences, Time Machine? If not, use the "Select Disk" button.
Is Time Machine still turned on (System Preferences, Time Machine)?
Can you see the drive (and mount it) using Disk Utility (in your Utilities folder)?

... AFAIC Location Services is a joke.
With both devices sitting side by side on my kitchen table, Location Services has NEVER shown the devices to be any where close to each other, and at times Location Services has been as much as a 1/4 of a mile off between the two devices.
Your iPod Touch has no GPS receiver so determining its location relies upon wireless routers whose location is known. Its "location" is actually that of a wireless router. Your iPhone 4 can use GPS, cellular triangulation, and Wi-Fi. One would think GPS would be most accurate but urban areas have a greater density of cells and GPS signals are easily obstructed so cellular triangulation is often more accurate.
Therefore the two devices' locations can be expected to be different. Differences of a quarter mile are easily explained if you understand how location services works: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1975
Skyhook Wireless (I think Apple uses its own database now): http://www.skyhookwireless.com/howitworks/
Location Services is not a "joke"; its intended use is for basic navigation and for such applications as determining where the nearest restaurant is. It cannot tell you that your iPod is under the couch cushions and that your iPhone is in the car.
