Apex 3.0.1 first logon doesn't work...

I appear to have the usual problem but so far none of the usual solutions had worked.
I installed it, filled in dads.conf, can log on using sqlplus with username and password copy/pasted straight out of the dads.conf but get access forbidden in the browser.
Here's what I did:
Tried to install the http server from the companion CD. Gave me error during install. Installed oracle client first, http server second, worked. ORACLE_HOME and environment reset to the apex directory.
(Do I really need the client for the http server install to work?)
Now I get the server start page, with the fast cgi demonstration.
The thing that nags me is that NLS_LANG is set to western iso something.
My linux system runs on that but I guess the http server should run on american.america.al32utf8, right?
I set it in the environment, bounced the server, no avail.
I found it hardcoded in the opmnctl to the western iso stuff. Changed it there, bounced the server, fast cgi demo still shows wrong setting.
apex and the database both run on linux, but on different servers.
The database is 10.2.0.3.0, the apex install on the database went fine.
The error message when acccessing http://oracle8.ecad:7777/pls/apex is
You don't have permission to access /pls/apex/apex on this server.
The error line in the log is

unset LANG and opmnctl stopproc ...; opmnctl startproc didn't make any difference.

Sadly Snow Leopard was the last OS X to have Front Row and it is no longer offered in Lion or Mountain.

It lists the latest notes for your basis version and the notes are usually cumulative which means if you apply the latest notes, it will bring in the pre-requisites and earlier notes too.

APEX 3.1.0.00.32 doesn't work with ORACLE 10g SE 10.2.0.1.0

I have Oracle 10g Express Edition 10.2.0.1.0 under Windows XP SP2 on my Personal Computer. There is installed the too , which is working fine.
Also I have Oracle 10g Standard Edition 10.2.0.1.0 (after installing Oracle 10g BI SE One) under Windows 2000 Adv. Server (On remote Server named URAN).
I tried to install the APEX 3.1.0.00.32 on URAN Server.
I made all points from the list in the Oracle Database Application Express Installation Guide Release 3.1 E10496-02 (the same steps on my Personal Computer where APEX 3.1.0.00.32 is working fine).
But!!!
When I’m starting APEX 3.1.0.00.32 (on the Server - http://URAN:8080/apex/apex_admin) then I get errror:
Unauthorized
after 3 time entering the correct user & password ( from URAN accounts list ) in XDB user window.
QUESTION 1: Why version number of Database on my PC & on Server is same, but
APEX 3.1.0.00.32 on my PC is working fine while its is not working on the Server?

Firstly, XE 10.2.0.1 isn't the same as 10gR2 10.2.0.1
It was released a bit later and had some fixes that were in later 10.2.0.x patchsets (and also had some different security settings). Maybe they should have gone with 10.2.1.1.
Second, the embedded PL/SQL gateway was okay for XE, but isn't supported for Apex on the Standard/Enterprise Edition until 11g. It doesn't mean it never works, but it does mean that you shouldn't rely on it.
That said, there are other issues with 10.2.0.1 so I'd recommend going for the latest patchset anyway.
Thirdly, if you get the XDB login dialog box, something has gone wrong. For the embedded PL/SQL gateway, XDB is acting as a virtual webserver. Generally what should happen is you connect to the webserver (XDB) and request a page (the APEX login page) and XDB should give it to you, no questions asked.
If it asks you to login then the XDB webserver is running but is trying to get authorisation before it gives you the page. [By the way, if it does prompt for a username/password, it is expecting a database username/password, not an apex one or an O/S one] I'd suspect something is wrong with the setup.
What happens if you ask for a simple image like

Windows 7 auto logon doesn't work

Hi, We have requirement to setup autologon for our kiosk PCs.
Using GPOs, We have set "Interactive logon: Do not require CTRL+ALT+DEL" to enabled. and also created following registries.
AutoAdminLogon - 1
DefaultDomainName - "domain name"
Default Password - "password"
DefaultUserName - "username"
These are all under [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
These GPOs are applied to a separate OU created for Kiosk machines.
We build our machines using SCCM 2012, we install the OS and move the computer object to Kiosk OU. During the OS installation, the computer applies the WIM, joins domain etc.. and reboots several times after the object is moved to Kiosk OU.
However, once the installation finishes the computer doesn't auto-logon. Restarting it once makes the computer to autologon. Suspecting the policies are not getting updated , i added 2 restarts in the end of our installation sequence but still after OS installation
the computer doesn't logon automatically. It still needs a restart manually for the autologon.
Has anyone experienced this? What could be the cause of it?

First Play doesn't work!

However, when I click on it, the only things that happens is that my iTunes is brought to the front. I've search on the iTune Store, and found the link. When I click on the link, it opens that same page in Safari. What gives???

I think you recorded a presentation by accident. Go File/Clear Recording and see if that helps

Burning a new CD-RW works first time, doesn't work after erase

Hello all,
My problem has a little twist that I couldn't find a solution to after spending a
few hours digging in all the forums.
I have never been able to re-use a stack of Sony CD-RW disks (p/n CDRW650L
rated for 1X, 2X, and 4X drives).
I can burn them fine the first time but doing an erase renders them unuseable.
I've been using a utility called CD-Erase that came bundled on this iMac G4.
I recently learned that I can (should?) erase from the Disk Utility app -
however, this didn't work either.
Is there a known list of incompatible CD-RW 's ?
I have yet to try another mfgr since I ASSUME I can trust name brands,
especially if the CD-RW and the drive are both made by Sony.

I'm unfamiliar with the disc erase utility you mention; and it may be
partially responsible for the results you are getting. Have you tried
other disc recording utilities to see if you can get better results?
The only one I've tried, and it worked successfully to erase and record
on a previously used CD-RW (the first disc I've burned) was an easily
used disc recording utility called "Burn 1.6u" and there may be a newer
version of this out, now. Seems to me I checked and found a link online
again to get a newer version from the source: http://burn-osx.sourceforge.net/
Hope this helps; and if it does, please post back. Could be the issue is
only in the erase cd utility you have. It may be making mistakes.

Vista automatic logon doesn't work

When Vista tries to automatically login it says it failed.
We've never had a password, just the return key but it won't even give me a prompt to provide the password, just the stupid button.

As R2D2 wrote try to start Vista in safe mode and try to rollback OS to earlier time using system restore tool.

Task Sequence (LiteTouch.wsf) does not restart after first logon on Windows 8.1 deployment

I can't figure out what cause the issue.
First, this is my setup :
ADK installed
MDT 2012 (upgraded from 2010 update 1)
Boot wim regenerated from scratch
LTIApply.wsf edited http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2797676/en-us
Windows 8.1 configured and captured (my first Win 8/8.1 deployment)
New task sequence for that wim.
My issue is :
The task sequence windows won't show up only with windows 8.1 deployment after the first logon. (I tried with a Windows 7 with the same setup, works flawlessly)
I can see the desktop, but nothing show up. I have all the folders and files on the c: (MININT, _SMSTaskSequence LTIBootstrap). I clicked twice on LTIBootstrap, did nothing. I did an LiteTouch.wsf /start, nothing.
I recaptured my Windows 8.1 (it was on a virtual machine) and I did a new TS. The issue still there.
All the SMSOSD logs files are on http://sdrv.ms/18VPSKy
Someone can help me on this? I'll be very happy!

I am having a similar issue. I deploy a custom Windows 8.1 image to a system and I get through the OS install, but I end up at the user login screen without the task sequence resuming (thus not running any windows update, doesn't join domain, or any post-install
tasks). The built in administrator account also shows up as disabled.
The only changes I have made to the unattend.xml for that image are *maybe* to fix the IE 10/11 error that crashes the deployment by deleting the IE welcome tag, and I have no choice but to make that change when it happens.

OIM11g - disable set password on first logon + force challenge questions

I was initially trying to work out how to stop forcing users to set their passwords on first login. Initially by using the Force Password Change at First Login flag.
I found the following in metalink:
BUG:10256559: DOCUMENT THAT XL.FORCEPASSWORDCHANGEATFIRSTLOGIN NO LONGER USED IN 11G
The system property "Force Password Change at First Login" is not used in Oracle Identity Manager 11g Release 1 (11.1.1). Setting this property has no effect.
I have also tried setting all of the flags on a user relating to this manually, but that hasn't worked either e.g.
usr_change_pwd_at_next_logon
usr_pwd_must_change
I saw the following workaround in metalink:

Go to EM and change the ssoEnabled flag as per below instructions
1. Go to WebLogic Domain -> <Domain Name>
2. Right click and open 'System MBean Browser'
3. In the 'System MBean Browser' left panel, go to 'oracle.iam' -> Server:<server name> --> Application:oim --> XML Config --> Config --> XMLConfig.SSOConfig --> SSOConfig
4. Set the SsoEnabled flag to 'true' and apply
Which works, however it also prevents challenge questions being forced on a user, which we want.
Does anyone know how to do this?

yes, system property doesn't work in this case. you can try the simple test case
1. create a new user
2. login to oim db and update usr set usr_change_pwd_at_next_logon=0 for newely created user. (default value is 1)
3.commit the change in db
4. close the browser or clear cache. sometime it pick the value from cache. better close the the browser and open it
5. login with the new user it won't ask for the password change but it will force to set question.

Run ==> type "tsconfig.msc" ==> double click "RDP-TCP" ==> change security layer to
RDP Security layer ==> Apply ==> OK
