Apex 4.02 dutch translation

Hi,
not sure where to post this but I think this should work.
Just spend a day translating all the apex strings for forms and interactive reports to Dutch and made a small proc to install this to any application you like. Nothing fancy but it saves you from getting RSI. it's based on a translation table which you can easily edit and deploy to the wanted app.
If anybody is in need of these translations just pm me, saves you a lot of time(waisting) since it does not seem to be available out of the box.
Cheers
Bas

Hi there,
We are using apex 4.0.2.00.07 as well and I'm looking for a translation as well. I will appriciate if you could send the translation to jdezwart(at)roczeeland(dot)nl
Thanks in advance,
Jacco
PS. perhaps we could team up to keep the translation to Dutch allive.

    it
    ja

It's likely that your NLS_LANG environment variable was not set properly, prior to staring SQL*Plus and running load_fr.sql.  Please see section 3.3.11.1 at http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E37097_01/doc/install.42/e35123/otn_install.htm#BABBHFGD.
    I hope this helps.

  • Wrong Dutch translation in iTunes 8.0 (Windows XP/Vista)

    Hello there!
I just noticed a small translation error in iTunes 8.0, it's about the free space available on an ipod/iphone.
In English the grey bar at the bottom of the screen reads "Free", which is alright, but if you have your language set to Dutch, it reads "Gratis", which is a whole different translation of the word "free".
"Gratis" is "Free" as in: "Buy this book and get a free pencil with it."
The right translation of "Free" as in "free space" would be "Over", "Resterend", "Resterende ruimte", "Vrij" or "Vrije ruimte".
I don't know if anyone else noticed this error in his own language, but it's a pretty clumsy thing to leave in iTunes. (I did find it quite amusing by the way.)
    Steven

You're being very polite there, JvetS. I can't remember ever seeing such a translation blunder from a major technology company. And it's new in iTunes 8.0; in earlier versions Apple didn't confuse "free beer" with "free space"...
Also it's quite funny, as you said. I first thought it referred to all the free AppStore applications on my phone.

  • Enhancement Request for APEX 3 - Import / export translation

    Hi,
Would it be possible to add this functionality in the next release ?
If we import an application that has a translation in the database (seed) into another APP_ID , we loose the translation.
So for a 100+ pages application, it is really a pain to have to re-translate everything again. (since we cannot use the same xliff file).
It would be nice to import the content of the translation from one application ID into another one or to export the translation with the application export.
    Thanks
    Francis.

We blogged on this problem on the following link http://iadvise.blogspot.com/2006/12/apex-deploy-your-multilingual.html
We are now working on an Apex application that will help in step 3 of the translation process. It is possible to upload an xliff-file, to make a translation for every source element and to create the xliff file again with the translations. The idea is also to make a kind of dictionary so it will be possible to automate a part of the translation process for words that are repeatedly used. Keep an eye on our blog where we will explain some more on this application.
Btw, which tool do you use to make the translations ?

  • Error in dutch translation

On the Help-tips of all modules the navigation "Next" and "Back" is translated as "Volgende" (correct) and "Achterzijde" (wrong ! ....should be "Vorige").
"Achterzijde"  means for instance: the backside of a house.

Error in german translation: on the last tip "Close" must be translated as "Schließen", not "Schließ"
An another inconsitency: "Noise Reduction" is translated as "Rauschreduzierung", that's correct. But in the brush menue it is translated as "Störung", I would recommend to use the same word both times.

  • Error in Dutch translation in HERE Maps

    Hi,
This has been bugging me for a while now There is a pretty serious Dutch language error in the HERE Maps application for Windows Phone 8.1. I could not find anywhere to report a bug to the HERE developers so I'm trying this place.
When the compass needs to be calibrated, there is a message displayed on the screen that contains the following sentence:
Er is iets dat uw kompas verstoord.
This is very much incorrect, and should read:
Er is iets dat uw kompas verstoort.
Maybe this can be fixed in a future release.

    Hi Sunil,
I had tried this solution instead. Its same as stated in yours solution. For Dutch Language code AN?  I guess it was "NL" instead?
Please correct me if i was wrong.

  • Need help in solving garbled characters in the translated es-mx applicaiton

I followed the APEX Globalizations instructions to translate an application from es-us language to es-mx language. After I uploaded, applied, and published the translated file, the es-mx application was displayed based on my browser's language setting. However, some translated texts with special characters are garbled. For example, the "Number" is translated into "Número", but it is displayed as "Nmero".
After our DBA has verified that the PlsqlNLSLanguage is set to AMERICAN_AMERICA.AL32UTF8 in the APEX DAD configuration file, the garbled characters still appear in es-mx application.
Any help or suggestion on how to tackle this inproper translation issue is greatly appreciated.

With your suggestion, it triggered me to check the Encoding setting on my Internet Explorer which was set to Western European. After I changed my Encoding setting to Auto Select, all translated texts are displayed in es-mx lanaguge correctly.
    Thanks for your suggestion.

  • Translation error in the registration procedure for Hp E-printcenter

    Hi,
Not sure if this is the correct channel, but I just wanted to let you know that there is a mistake in the Dutch translations of the registration procedure for HP´s e-printcenter, which may confuse people.
In the screenshot below, you can see that during the registration procedure, you need to configure who will be able to send print jobs to your e-print account.
The first option (everybody) is ¨translated¨ in Dutch as ¨ideeën¨, which means ¨ideas¨. This may cause confusion for some people and considering the fact that this registration procedure is one of the first experiences that people have with the e-print center, I think it would be wise to have it changed.
    The correct translation is ¨iedereen¨.
    Kind regards,

  • Customizing wrong SharePoint translation

    Hi,
We are using SharePoint 2013 with a Dutch language pack installed. When multiple users "Like" a post in a social newsfeed, SharePoint translates "Henk and 2 others like this" to the dutch translation of "Henk
and 2 others look like this", it's a very awkward translation and makes no sense at all.
Microsoft seems to fixed this issue in Office 365. I recently installed SP1 for SharePoint and the language pack, but this doesn't solve the issue.
Where can I customize these translations?
Hope you can help me out
    Mark,

    Hi Mark,
i recommend to do this in your testing environment first to know the impact in your environment,
please keep the original file, to make sure if in the future you still need it.
the resource file should be re-deployed, there are some steps, but you can try to reset yout IIS or re-run the product configuration to see, if should it deployed after that, if not then you may need to have some checking in these articles:

  • Recreate the translation repository

After a database problem our dba dropped apex and installed apex again. After the new apex installation I imported the apex application for the primary language (=APP_ID "1" is german) and the translated application (=APP_ID "11" is english). Then I wanted to check the tranlation repository and saw, that the translation repository was empty.
So I used the utility "Seed translatable text to translation repository". When I looked at the apex page "Manually Edit Translation Repository", I can't find my translations. All words in die APP_ID "11" are in "german".
Is there a possibility to synschonice the "german" and "englisch" application and save the results in the translation repository (=in the table "wwv_flow_translatable_text$") ??????
    Can anyone help me!

    Hi,
my question whether i can recreate a central inventory any where by specifying the inventory_loc=$ORACLE_BASE/orainv or $ORACLE_BASE/db/tech_stAs per the note specified will it be enough if we move the orinv to the new location
Yes you can but under ownership of oracle binary install user.
    Pls read note i mentioned:-
    it says:-
    1) Find the current location of the central inventory
    2) cat /etc/oraInst.loc
    inventory_loc=/u01/app/oracle/oraInventory
*3. Copy the oraInventory directory to the destination directory* -- you need to copy to new location before making changes in oraInst.loc
    4. Edit the oraInst.loc file to point to the new location
I hope it clears your doubt.

  • Exchange mailbox calendar language setting DUTCH

    Good day,
Are there known bugs related to the Ducht language and calendar settings ?
When creating a new mailbox the calender is called "Kalender" in Dutch. This should be "Agenda"
Now when running a new pst import a folder "Kalender" already exists and "Agenda" is created as an extra calendar.
I am in the proces of migrating several mailboxes to Exchange 2013 using pst imports of the old mailboxes. After every import the user has 2 calendars with different names !
    Any solutions ?
    Please see the screenshots:

    It's not a bug, it's a design failure...
Agenda is the correct Dutch translation for this and it was correct in Exchange for years. Now it was suddenly renamed and gave a lot of users and system administrators pain in the head...
The big question in this case is why? and will it be fixed?
Just like some other hard coded not documented features of exchange 2013...

  • Developing with Oracle APEX... from an iPad?

    Hi,
I'm a French APEX freelance. I have a blog about it and recently, I've wrote a post from a simple question: "Do you imagine developing APEX applications with an iPad?".
Actually, I thought a lot about it since the iPad is released in the US and very soon in the other countries.
You can read this post here if you speak French: http://romain.lazzarotto.fr/veille-technologique-oracle-apex/oracle-apex-sur-lipad/
or here with the Google translation: http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&sl=fr&tl=en&u=http://romain.lazzarotto.fr/veille-technologique-oracle-apex/oracle-apex-sur-lipad/&rurl=translate.google.com&twu=1&usg=ALkJrhgxLCmbOqmasvYOnXF4AVoT9voIOw
As database management and application development can be done 100% with a simple Web browser, why not doing that with an iPad?
It would bring so much mobility, and enable developers to have a better development experience, from anywhere with a 3G or Wi-Fi connection.
Most of all, what would you think about a dedicated iPad app? Imagine something very innovative with touch interfaces, which would enable you to manage regions, elements and buttons that way.
APEX has already some very nice UI features such as Query Builder to develop SQL requests without any coding, or drag and drop elements. I'm wondering how it could be extended to other features and used on such devices?
Oracle already developed some iPhone apps (available here: http://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/oracle-usa-inc/id284793707).
Do you think that an APEX app for the iPad (and other future similar devices) would be relevant?
With this post, I want to point out this idea and get feedback from the community, so feel free to share your opinion.
    Have fun with APEX,
    Romain.

Maybe not develop ON an iPad, but FOR the iPad...Sure. If it ever gets Flash. One of the first things I did was try and pull up my 4.0EA2 application. No Flash graphs/charts obviously, but other than that it rendered well.
If the ability to see the charts comes along (Flash support or HTML5 maybe?), then I can see it being a useful tool for our salesforce. Let alone building standalone apps.
It's a great platform from the hardware viewpoint. Just not ready for APEX yet.
