Apex_util.get_print_document not generating correct output

hello,
Basically what I've done is this.
1) stored a very simple xml file in a clob field called xml_file_clob in a table called xml_test1
2) stored an rtf file in a clob field called rtf_layout in a table called xml_test1
3) created a procedure (below) called generate_report_as_blob which attempts to combine the xml and layout and generate a PDF from it which is stored into a blob field in the same table where 1) and 2) are above .....
4) I have confirmed that taking the clobs in 1) and 2) from the table above and creating xml and rtf files on my desktop that I can open the rtf file in Word, load the xml file and preview it and it does render the pdf as intended (so I think my clobs in the table are good)
5) run the procedure below. It compiles and runs with no errors but generates a file into the blob column that when downloaded to my desktop looks like the below output (when opening w/ pdf it says there was an error opening the file)
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. I feel like I'm really close and am excited about what I could do with this if this can work.
Thanks in advance, KW

    Hi guys
     Trying to run this package on SQL 2012 agent  and getting below error . No more details I could find so far.
    The step did not generate any output.  The return value was unknown.  The process exit code was -1073741819.  The step failed.
    About Package - Its connecting to different version (2000,2005,2008,2008R2,2012) servers and putting Jobs information into one Database table.
    Any workaround or fix ?

    New package or one that used to work? Connecting how? How does it poll?
    On the surface it is an error from a memory space of the binary/non-managed code, so nothing can be really concluded based on what you decided to share with us.

    So Same package is working fine from my local machine which has SQL 2008 R2 and SQL 2012 installed. I am trying to push the package on server which has sql server 2012 Installed .
    I don't see any error .
    I ran package manually from server using SQL Data tools and ran successfully...

  • Can not generate PDF Output in RoboHelp 11

    Can not generate PDF Output. I keep getting the same error message:
    "Microsoft® Word has not been started on this computer.
    Launch Word and click the 'Start using Microsoft® Word' option before generating Printed Documentation again."
    I have MS Office 2013 32-bit and RoboHelp on a 64-bit Wondows desktop.
    What do am I doing wrong?

    Is the 32 bit version of Word the only version of Word you have on the machine?
    Where does Word's normal.dot reside? On your local machine? Sometimes it gets put on a network drive and that can cause problems.

  • TOC and footers not generating correctly in printed output

    I'm using RH8. Up until yesterday, was able to generate .doc output just fine. We usually run a macro to clean up the TOC and footers. Yesterday I had to update an older help file created in RH4W. I made my changes, closed RH4W and resumed working in RH8. My .chms generate fine. It's my hardcopy .doc file that results in no TOC or footer creation.
    Here's what the TOC and one of the footers looks like. If anyone can offer any suggestions (I'm at a loss - even deleted the ssl and started from scratch), I'd appreciate it.

    The problem is in your Word settings, not RoboHelp. Looks like you have Word set to show field codes.

  • APEX_UTIL.GET_PRINT_DOCUMENT  not returning anything

    I have a report query and have provided a layout to print it
    I need to get the html generated from the report so that I can mail it.
    As I could not get the generated file in the PL/SQL package written , for quick testing I started testing using a SQL stmt to check for the length of the LOB
    select dbms_lob.getlength(APEX_UTIL.GET_PRINT_DOCUMENT (
    p_application_id=>my_app_id,
    p_report_query_name=>'name of qry',
    p_report_layout_name=>'name of layout',
    p_report_layout_type=>'rtf',
    p_document_format=>'htm')) lob_size
    from dual
    I also tried by providing the p_print_server => null in addition to the parameters passed.
    But the query returns NULL only.
    The qry and layout are correct as the query when tested in the edit qry screen in APEX shows the output report in the format required (including html , PDF etc)
    Any pointers ?
    Thx

  • Apex_util.get_print_Document not working outside apex environment

    I am working on one of the assignment in Apex 4.0.2 .
    The requirement is to dynamically generate reports and mail to User using the Scheduler program(Pl/sql) -> dbms_scheduler.
    I have used BI publisher to create the template and xml data for the report(Excel) and used Apex_util.get_print_Document
    in the scheduler program (which is written outside Apex), but this is not working properly,sends blank report to email.
    Please suggest how to set the apex session and use Apex_util.get_print_Document to work properly outside apex env.

    Apex (PL/SQL web-enabled) code needs to execute inside an Oracle server session that has been properly and correctly initialised for executing web enabled PL/SQL code.
    An example of how to execute such PL/SQL by intialising a proper environment, is shown in {message:id=2251131}.
    Note that this will not be able to execute Apex pages (via the flow engine) that are not public - that needs a proper authenticated Apex web session. Which could be a tad complex to emulate in this fashion.

  • Constrained values not generating correctly in Dashboard prompt

    Hi,
    I have a dashboard prompt which has 4 drop downs viz From Month, From Year, To Month, To year and one Mullti Select Product.The default and the drop down values for the first four prompts are controlled by SQL queries so that in drop down only those values are displayed in the drop down for which i have data in my fact tables and the multi select of product is a constratined one.
    As per the current scenario i have data for current month - 1 (say if current month is August so i have data for July). In the default values for these prompts i show the current month and year (August and 2010). So when i select July in my From Month prompt the values for other promts get set to August and 2010 for month and date prompts (both From and To). And then when i click on the multi select of product no values are shown on OBI screen even though they are in database.
    This is due to the fact the query that OBI genrates in the backend the To Month is set to August not May, even though May is shown on the dashboard.
    However, if cilck on GO then the values for contsratined promt are generated correctly and also the backend query changes the To Month is set to May.
    Could somebody help me to resolve this problem.
    Thx :)

    Reminds me of a bug I hit with constrained prompts and a time dimension, but I didnt have another dimension (your Product) in my case. I'll try and dig out the bug number for you. - Have you got a support account to login and check it out?

    The 'shouldBeAnArray' attribute should be an array of OtherType?

  • Profile not generating correctly via PFCG

    All,
           I am having an issue in our Solution Manager system in that when ever I add one specific transaction to a newly created role via the menu tab so that the profile generates correctly it will also add the following in the t_code auth_obj.
    0 - zzzzzzzzzzzz

    0 - ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ, RPM_DX
    RPM_DX is the transaction that I am adding as we are setting up functionality for administering CHaRM.
    Is there a table that I can check on this?       I have deleted the role and recreated a completely new role and I get the same issue.

  • Javaw.exe does not generate any output?

    I must have something set up wrong ... when I use JAVAW.EXE on the "Hello world" class in the tutorial found on java.sun.com, nothing happens. I tried it with the VERBOSE switch also, and still nothing happens. The only output I ever see occurs if I intentionally generate an error, and then I see a windows messagebox. JAVA.EXE works fine in the console, however.
    OS: Win 2000 professional
    Thanx :)

    Hello Robert!
    How can i generate a new console window with text displayed in it, on clicking a button in a frame using java.exe or javaw.exe?
    - Sanjay
    If i remember correctly the Hello World program prints
    a line to the comamnd prompt, and does not conatain
    any frames. If that is the case and the only output
    the program creates is by using System.out then it
    logical you don't see anything using javaw. javaw is a
    program that hides the dos-box on a windows machine.
    This prevents users from seeing it wich makes a
    frame/window'ed application look more professional. So

  • Database Adapter does not generate proper output for PL/SQL table type

    Hi,
    I have a DB Adapter to invoke a stored procedure on Oracle which returns a table type.
    I am getting the following output from the adapter:
    </DB_Test_InputVariable><DB_Test_OutputVariable><part xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" name="OutputParameters">
    <db:OutputParameters xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:db="http://xmlns.oracle.com/pcbpel/adapter/db/APPS/BPEL_DB_TEST/XXC_KEMET_TEST_PKG-24GETITEMONH/">
    <ITEM_QTY_UOM_OUT>
    <ITEM_QTY_UOM_OUT_ITEM>
    <SERIAL_NUM>1</SERIAL_NUM>
    <ITEM_QTY_OUT>1</ITEM_QTY_OUT>
    <UOM_OUT>BOX</UOM_OUT>
    </ITEM_QTY_UOM_OUT_ITEM>
    <ITEM_QTY_UOM_OUT_ITEM>
    <SERIAL_NUM>2</SERIAL_NUM>
    <ITEM_QTY_OUT>5</ITEM_QTY_OUT>
    <UOM_OUT>BOX</UOM_OUT>
    </ITEM_QTY_UOM_OUT_ITEM>
    </ITEM_QTY_UOM_OUT>
    </db:OutputParameters>
    </part>
    </DB_Test_OutputVariable>
    When I try to transform it, it tries to select /db:OutputParameters/db:ITEM_QTY_UOM_OUT/db:ITEM_QTY_UOM_OUT_ITEM/db:SERIAL_NUM from it and does not give me any output.
    I assume it's the same issue with namespace prefix.
    If anyone has faced a similar issue or knows how to fix this, please let me know.

    I am using a DB adapter to run a stored procedure for a simple Select Query with a table as my out parameter.This creates an XSD when the partner link is created.The elementFormDefault=qualified is by default formed in the xsd.When i change it to unQualified it returns me compilation error.
    Where do i need to change the root element?

  • Allocation notification not generated -"0 output were processed successfull

    Hi ,
    I am executing the allocation scenario in QS6(411) system, ,after creating of the table i am supposed to generate notification using transcation wa11 and use output type rta2 ,transmission medium "1" and allocation table number when i execute i get the response " 0 output processed successfully " whereas it should be 1 . I do extacly the same steps in QS5(411) and i get expected results . I have copared almost all the setting in IMG and they are same . in the technical explanation it says "output type $A000 is not configured " Kindly help on this.
    Thanks
    Neelam

    Hi Jelena,
    Thank you for your reply.
    Here you can see the details where the manual change flag can be seen (unticked).
    Regarding the Requirement checks, when I say all checks passed, I mean that every single value in the code is equal to the value it is checking against, for example:
    CHECK : KOMKBV3-UVALL CA ' C'. (value is initial = pass)
       CHECK : KOMKBV3-UVPRS CA ' C'. (value is initial = pass)
       CHECK : KOMKBV3-UVALS CA ' C'. (value is initial = pass)
       CHECK : KOMKBV3-RELIK EQ SPACE. (value is initial = pass)
       CHECK : KOMKBV3-RFBSK EQ 'C'. (value is 'C' = pass)
    Therefore, SY-SUBRC = 0 and the output is determined.
    The outcome is exactly the expected, the output is determined.
    The issue is in the analysis screen that shows the requirement as not fulfilled even though the output was successfully determined and I cannot see the access sequence used to determine the output.
