Apostrophe in chapter wording nulls complete entry?
I thought I'd start here rather than in the FCE forum as I can actually see the apostrophe in the FCE 'canvas'
Anyway, in an FCE project I have a number of Chapter markers and a couple have apostrophes as part of the text, you know, the one in the middle of it's
However, it seems that the presence of an apostrophe anywhere in the chapter text just prevents any of the text from appearing so, typically, I end up with a box or two on the 'scene selection' page with nothing underneath it.
I've searched for apostrophe both here and in the iDVD manual but nothing of relevance has come up.
Did everyone know about this problem except me?
Is there a workaround? As on old programmer I tried using one apostrophe after another (NOT inverted commas) but that had the same undesired effect.
For now I've resorted to using an inverted comma but we all know that's not right and my intended clients will taunt me without mercy.

It's even worse !
Use of characters other than a to z and 0 to 9 in Chapter title can and will very often
result in Multiplex Error in iDVD.
So rule is to avoid all other letters !

When composing an email in Mac Mail I've noticed a small but very irritating bug: pressing the spacebar after typing an apostrophe in a word, e.g. "we're", the cursor moves to the left i.e. backwards, and not to the right, effectively deleting a space and not creating one.
Any ideas?I just recreated this problem on my iMac (wired KB, no wireless KB) by changing Mail > Preferences > Composing > Spellcheck from "as I type" to "never". Then type a contraction ending in 're and the space bar causes the cursor to jump back as others have stated, to the spot 'r|e
Next, I went into System Preferences > Keyboard > Text, and turned off "use smart quotes" and the problem went away again.
From this point (smart quotes off, spell checking never), if I turn Smart Quotes ON, the problem returns.
The problem is dependent on the state of both settings.
The spacebar in Mail "works" if I have either of the following setting combinations:
Keyboard: smart quotes OFF, Mail: check spelling ANY SETTING
Keyboard: smart quotes ON, Mail: check spelling AS I TYPE
Other combinations FAIL
Keyboard: smart quotes ON, Mail: Check spelling NEVER
Keyboard: smart quotes ON, Mail: Check Spelling WHEN I CLICK SEND
Looks to me like there's a bug in Mail > Preferences > Check spelling > NEVER and WHEN I CLICK SEND that interacts badly with Keyboard > Smart quotes ON.

Problems printing a converted PDF which was converted to Word after completing the form. I have spent the last 3 hours trying to figure out what I am doing incorrectly. I can't get it to print in either the PDF or Word file. Please help, I need to complete this form and sent it NJ Department of Motor Vehicles Commission.

Word cannot complete the operation because too many files are open
Hello,
I'm working on a 60 pg. document, and when I hit 'save', I get this annoying msg.:
"word cannot complete the operation because too many files are open." I have no other files open, and I am unable to continue to work, because I cannot save - can anyone help? Thanks!Hello Kristina,
Have you been able to save the file at all?
More than anything, it seems to be a bug when you're trying to save to a server. There's more on the problem here. So what you can also try is simply saving the file to your desktop, or somewhere on your Mac's hard drive. That way you're saving the file locally instead of to a server. If that works, you've at least saved the file and can continue on. Otherwise, read on.
If you can't do it from Word, then at least save your changes from another application. Open TextEdit. You should get a blank file on the desktop. Make sure it's set as a rich text file. You'll know just be looking at it. If you see a ruler and other buttons at the top of the TextEdit document window, it's rich text. If not, make it rich text by pressing CommandShiftT.
Copy and paste your entire Word text into the TextEdit window. Save the TextEdit document to the desktop. Now that you've at least gotten your work saved, you can try some other things.
If you're not trying to work on the file from, or save it to a remote server, then don't worry about the first workaround. It doesn't apply. Number two was poorly worded by John. He seems to assume everyone knows what RH is. I had to look it up. It means Remote Home folder. So open the Word preferences and click on FIle Locations. Highlight the first choice, Documents, and click on the Modify button. Choose any location you want on your Mac's hard drive. Click "Choose" and close the preferences. Can you now save the document to the folder you defined as the default save location?
Spotlight is that little magnifying glass in the upper right corner of your screen by the time/date. There are a few methods to disable Spotlight. What John is saying that if the Mac is spending a lot of time indexing your drives at the same time you're trying to save your Word document, the intense processing time to index may be keeping Word from saving.
If you've managed to at least save your file as a rich text TextEdit document, then shut all of your applications down and restart your Mac. Launch Word and open the TextEdit file. You may lose some formating if you've done tables or other things TextEdit can't save in Word's original form. -
Saves the word Null - Using jTable!!

I am using a jTable to show data to the final user, and also i added a button which save changed made on the jTable is the user modifies it!! But, if i save it with in the ms access saves the word null when it finds an empty space.. why this happens? here is the code.. and sometimes it didn't work well on somefields, that why i use vectors, and now it is working.. but i am still wondering why if a field was empty, when i click on the save button it saved the word null.

Not sure what the use case is here but what I would do is to make sure when you create the employee or whatever the salary gets initialised to 0, db trigger, default etc.
instead of null (null values can be a PITA when you have to search on them)
Then all you have to do is to force a numeric input, the user can type 0 for all unassigned salaries.
This removes the problem you have of leaving the box blank and having to accept the word NULL as an input value.

I have this problem when i create new desktops from .portal files. In some pages appears the word "null" between portlets. I don't know what is the reason of this problem.
I created several destkops from diferent .portal files and got this trouble.

I found the jsp that renders the div with the "null". It's a look and feel jsp called window.jsp.
The code that renders that div is the following:

Based on this, I supose that sometimes <skeleton:children/> is null.

Can word documents completely disappear??
Hello everyone! I just had the weirdest problem!
First of all: I am currently working on a big paper, and saving regularly, in order not to loose anything. My doc is also saved in Google Drive.
On Sunday I worked normally on my paper and saved it. On Monday I worked on it and wrote an additional page for it. Also, I made an image from data in Excel, and then added it to my text.
Today I open my folder to check my document and the first weird thing that I noticed was that the "Date Modified" didn't say yesterday, but it had Sunday's date. The version from Monday isn't there/completely missing, the image I created in Excel is in my images folder, so this activity is there, but the newest word doc version isn't!!!
One day's work is completely gone! I also checked recent files, but all files in there only show changes from 2 days before (Sunday) or from today (Tuesday), and NOTHING yesterday (Monday). No activtity at all. It's as if I had not added any text at all yesterday... if somebody knows anything, help would be really appreciated. Thanks!No I did not, I thought saving it to Google Drive is enough. I never thought this could happen . How can I delete auto-complete entries in Mail on iPhone?
I've done some searching and I think the answer to my question, at least for now, is "you can't!". But I'm still open to suggestions. iOS 5.0.1, if it matters (I need to update my signature).
I was just telling my wife (who is having this issue on her iPhone 4s - with MY work address) that with Apple devices it's either very easy or you can't do it. I'm afraid this falls into the latter category. I have just filled out the feedback form.No. Auto-complete is completely automatic and uses any entry you have made previously in that column.
You can turn it on or off, but the only editing that, to my knowledge, can be done is to:
delete any items entered in the column in error.
select and copy the 'good' items (and the empty cells in the range).
select one or more cells in the column, then go Table (menu) > Delete Column
press option-left arrow to insert a new column in place of the one deleted.
click on the cell where the first item in the list was copied from.
paste
enter the missing items, then continue from the last entered value.
(The auto-completion list will now contain only those values you pasted, plus new values you have since entered in the column.)

Word cannot complete the save due to a file permission error when resaving Word document.
So I have to rename it to be able to save the document. This happnes once in a while. What's the reason? And what should be done? (From "Word" to "error" is the error message in the title)

What Office version are you using?
Please try to start Microsoft Word in Safe Mode if it helps, following steps for Word 2010, the steps for Word 2007 are similar:
Click Start, point to All Programs, and then point to
Microsoft Office.
Press and hold the CTRL key, and then click the Microsoft Word 2010.
If the problem does not occur in the safe mode, this issue might be related to some third-party add-ins in the Office program, we can try to disable them. Normally, you could do the following to disable the conflict add-ins in your Word program:
Click File menu, click Options >
Add-ins, click Go button in the Manage: COM Add-ins.
Check if there has any add-ins, clear the checkbox to disable them.
Close the Microsoft Word and restart it.
Add one check back each time to the list of Add-In, restart Microsoft Word, and repeat the above procedure. Once the issue reappears again, we can determine which add-in causes this problem and then disable it.
- You may also check Save Folder and Word Default Save Folder permission, make sure user account has Full Control and Modify permission.

I can get the drop-down list, of course, but highlighting an entry and hitting the BACKSPACE doesn't delete the entry. Help with a JavaScript email submit button taking word null out if blank
First of all I dont know much about java, but I wanted to create a submit button and I did alot of research. I want a button that will email some pdf files I have created in LiveCycle. So far everyting works but my code needs help.
There are a few fields I want to be place in the body of the e-mail, but if left blank I dont want null to apear on the email subject or body.
Here is what I have so far *this is a work around, but it not very good.

No. Series 60 does not offer this functionality natively as the T9 input method works ina different way. There might possibly be a third party program out there to assist but I am not aware of one.
If you are referring to the phone not using T9 and making you press each key a few times to get the letter you want, you need to depress the # key until the text symbol in the corner changes to one with a pen and two small lines underneath it.
