Append Parralel question

Hi,
I've got a question about the Append Parallel hint. Within a mapping in OWB(warehouse builder) there is a hint APPEND PARRALEL, but the destination/source tables don't have the option parallel enabled. Do i need to enable this option for the tables or is this hint enough to use parallel execution?
And i want to enable PARALLEL_AUTOMATIC_TUNING parameter for the database, at the moment it's disabled. Is this smart to do?
regards,
Osman

But in order to have parallel DML working (for the insert part, parallel query is enabled by default) you need to explicitly enable parallel DML (alter session enable parallel DML).
And i want to enable PARALLEL_AUTOMATIC_TUNING parameter for the database, at the moment it's disabled. Is this smart to do?Depends on your version. If you're on pre-10g and if you don't know what the different parallel settings of the database mean it might be a good starting point, yes.

  • Impdp, Network_Link, and Data Append, security questions

    I am implementing a nightly table data transfer between two Networked DB servers and have some questions
    1. Can impdp command have a NETWORK_LINK and still have TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION=Append, and REMAP_TABLE=[schema.]old_tablename[.partition]:new_tablename.
    For example: impdp hr/hr NETWORK_LINK=DB_LINK TABLES=hr.employees REMAP_TABLE=hr.employees:emps TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION=Append
    2. How secure is the data move, is the data encrypted?

    For example: impdp hr/hr NETWORK_LINK=DB_LINK TABLES=hr.employees REMAP_TABLE=hr.employees:emps TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION=Append
    2. How secure is the data move, is the data encrypted?This excerpt is from Oracle Documentation.
    Caution:
    If an export operation is performed over an unencrypted network link, then all data is exported as clear text even if it is encrypted in the database.

  • Before you post...

    Help us to help you!
    You are most likely here with a problem that needs solving. Of course you can just post your issue and wait for someone to come along and supply an answer. But please take a moment and read these "rules of the road". They have been designed to help you get the right answer fast.
    Please observe these simple suggestions before you post:
    Search before you post
    The time of those who voluntarily support the forums is limited. Help them by seeing if the question has been asked and answered before.
    As you type the search term, you will see a list of topics appear that may contain the link to just what you are looking for. Otherwise click the links to show all the results or limit the list to just threads in the forum category you are searching in.
    Please note that during your search, you may find similar questions. Please resist the urge to simply append your question onto an older post you found while searching. Odds are that if a question has been asked more than a month ago and it hasn't been answered by the time you found it, there is no answer. Please ask your question in a totally new thread of its own.
    It also means you get a quicker answer.
    There is a video on searching at http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-1021
    Choose ONE category, post a SINGLE time, then exercise patience.
    We realize that you are anxious and are hoping for a fast answer. And we really do our best to provide answers as quickly and accurately as we can.
    What happens if you post multiple times in different categories is that one person may respond to one post while someone else responds to the other, both giving different and sometimes conflicting answers. The whole thing gets messy and you are no nearer to getting a good answer. It wastes everyone's time and doesn't help you.
    The next person that comes along with the same problem finds a solution that may not be the best one. They will not search further and will go away disappointed. Another time that person could be you!
    Don’t sweat whether you have posted in the correct category for your question. Do the best you can. If it’s in the wrong category, we can move the post to the appropriate forum if it fits better there.
    If you don't get a reply within a reasonable time, it may just be that nobody has an answer. If you think it is because your post is in the wrong category, add another post to the thread asking the administrators to move it.
    The categories are described in this post.
    Include the Edition and Version.
    Edition
    RoboHelp HTML or RoboHelp for Word
    Version
    RoboHelp 7, 8, 9 or 10.
    Please tell us up front what you are using. Too often the answer is delayed by us having to ask for that information because providing the correct solution depends on it.
    Make sure your wording is clear.
    Examples of bad wording:
    "I clicked Finish in the layout wizard but no help was generated."
    Something like the above would cause the following questions to be raised:
    Did it start and then hang?
    Was there an error message?
    Was there any information in the Output pod?
    Posting a subject line of NEED HELP!!! or RoboHelp Sucks Cheese!!!
    Subject lines such as these don't help us easily determine if we are able to help you. Please be respectful of everyone's time and use a meaningful subject line.
    Avoid comparative terms.
    State 5,000 topics rather than "my project is large".
    Too often we see people refer to their "large" project when talking about a project with just a couple of hundred topics.
    Believe us, that is not large.
    Include screenshots where this helps. Use the camera icon rather than attaching the image.
    For example:
    If you add an image using the camera icon, it appears in your post immediately.
    If you use the Attach Files link below the post area, the attachments are queued and must be approved by a forum admin in order to see them.
    Guess which way gets you a quicker answer?
    Don’t insert your E-Mail address.
    Remember that the forums are searchable using Google, YAHOO or other search engines.
    This means you open yourself up for spammers to harvest your address.
    You really don’t need more unwanted E-Mail messages from the dying millionaire in the Nigerian hospital do you?
    It is our sincere hope that these tips will help you get the most out of your forum experience!

  • How do you change the default size of the print batch size for mail merge in Publisher 2010?

    I appended this question to another thread with the same topic but have not received a reply, so I'll try with a new question. Publisher 2010, when doing mail merge, will only merge and print two records at a time. How do you change the default size of
    the print batch size? This is for a 4 page document, 8 1/2 x 11, printed two sides on 11 x 17. I've tried all the suggestions that were in the other thread. The response that was marked as the answer by the moderator is incorrect and does not work. Nothing
    suggested in that thread works. A registry fix that worked for Publisher 2003 won't work because the print batch size key does not exist in the registry for Pub 2010. At least not that I can find. Printing to an XPS document doesn't work. It asks for a filename,
    prints 2 records, asks for new file name, prints 2 records, asks for new file name, and so on. The same for printing to a PDF document. Merging to a new Pub document doesn't work. When I print that job every other sheet is turned over. I.e., sheet one has
    pages 1 & 3 on top, next sheet has 3 & 4 on top, and so on. This makes it impossible to run them through the folder. The same thing happens when I print that complete merged document to XPS or PDF. I have the latest drivers installed for our printer, a Toshiba
    2500C copier/printer connected via network. What do I need to do to to change the batch size to something reasonable, like 100 records?

    It's been two weeks since I posted this question. What does it take to get an answer? I cannot believe it's being ignored, nor can I believe that someone in MS doesn't have an answer.

  • Help Making a Quiz MIDlet

    Hi, I'm relatively new to Java and programming in general so I'm having some difficulty developing a quiz MIDlet. I would like to have users navigate from screen to screen for each question. So far I was able to add one ChoiceGroup, but I'm having difficulty creating multiple ChoiceGroups on different screens (I would like at least 10). Also, how can I make sure that the gauge I've made is incremental and updates for each different screen?
    import javax.microedition.lcdui.*;
    import javax.microedition.midlet.*;
    public class PracticeOne extends MIDlet
    implements CommandListener {

    I followed your advice, but for some reason I can only navigate to only one form. I've made five forms in total with five choicegroups each. Unfortunately I can only access the first form and the second form. Here's the new code again:

         String[] answerstwo = {"Answer 1", "Answer 2", "Answer 3"};
         ChoiceGroup questiontwo =new ChoiceGroup("Question 2", ChoiceGroup.EXCLUSIVE, answerstwo, null);
         Form formtwo = new Form("Practice Quiz");
         String[] answersthree = {"Answer 1", "Answer 2", "Answer 3"};
         ChoiceGroup questionthree =new ChoiceGroup("Question 3", ChoiceGroup.EXCLUSIVE, answersthree, null);
         Form formthree = new Form("Practice Quiz");
         String[] answersfour = {"Answer 1", "Answer 2", "Answer 3"};
         ChoiceGroup questionfour =new ChoiceGroup("Question 4", ChoiceGroup.EXCLUSIVE, answersfour, null);
         Form formfour = new Form("Practice Quiz");
         String[] answersfive = {"Answer 1", "Answer 2", "Answer 3"};
         ChoiceGroup questionfive =new ChoiceGroup("Question 5", ChoiceGroup.EXCLUSIVE, answersfive, null);
         Form formfive = new Form("Practice Quiz");
         Gauge gauge = new Gauge("Progress", false, 5, 0);
         static final Command backCommand =

  • Webservice  fails to preload on startup

    Sorry for the double post, but I originally appended this question to another question that I had marked answered.
    I must apologize for my newbishness, but I'm more accustom to the point and shoot method by which I've developed webservices with NetBeans and Glassfish. Apparently deploying webservice apps is not as straight forward as JDeveloper tutorials would have me believe. I suppose I need more help with packaging this type of application. I must be missing something.
    Here is the error message.

  • How do I install Oracle LINUX 6.3 ?

    Hi, I can't open an own thread so I will append my question here...
    I'm trying to install OL6.3 from DVD. All does fine up to installing the boot loader.
    After that step I get an error like "missing media.repo". At that point the DVD seems to be not mounted any more. I can't even open the drive. I can edit the search to HTTP or NFS but it should work from DVD, or?!
    I can find the xml file (that name given in the exception message) on the DVD in an subdir "Server". Is there a mistake in the V33411-01.iso?
    Is there a way to handle this?
    Kind regards

There is no mistake in the ISO, but there may be an error with the copy you downloaded. Did you check the digest of the downloaded ISO file against the published digest to make sure it's not damaged in any way?

  • Compaq C700 Series, Drive Stuck in Caddy/Cage, Screws Won't Budge - How Can I Remove It?

    Starting my own message because there were no responses when I appended my question to someone else's thread.
    I would like to swap out the original hard drive for a larger-capacity one. I had no problem opening the compartment and removing the caddy with the drive. I checked the new drive and it will connect perfectly if I can get it into the caddy.
    My problem is removing two of the four screws that are holding the old hard drive in the caddy. I was able to remove two with no problem, but the other two are fastened so tightly that they won't budge.
    Does anyone have any suggestions or advice for how to pry this drive out of the caddy so I can put the new one in it? I'm at a loss how to proceed without possibly damaging the caddy. Many, many thanks for any help.
    Here is a picture that describes my problem:

    Thanks, I appreciate the suggestion. I will try it, and post the results.
    I hesitated to change the screwdriver that worked on the first two screws, because I'm afraid of stripping the screws and I didn't know whether a larger screwdriver was a good idea. I think it's a good idea, though, so I'll try it, as carefully as possible. Anyway, at this point, the choice is either do something a little drastic or buy a new caddy (or give up and settle for keeping the old drive), so I may as well go for broke .

  • Mimicing a keaboard reader in GUI

    how would you mimic a KeyboardReader in this situation:
    a simple GUI, with a textfield, and a textarea.
    on KeyPress(VK_ENTER), it gets the text in the textfield, checks it against a list of commands, and does something, then appends the results to the textarea.
    lets say i want to ask the user a question, displayed in the textarea. how do i make it so that the next time (and ONLY the next time) the user presses ENTER, it sets a single variable to whatever is inside the textField?
    it seems you cannot call the keypress method right after you append the question to the textarea, and you cant return whatever is inside the textbox as the answer to the question, because it could be outdated text, and i want the user to press enter first.

    1. You can add a KeyListener to the TextArea or JTextArea
    2. You can add an ActionListener to a TextField or JTextField that will respond to the enter key with actionPerformed()

  • Send email attachment in VBS

    I am trying to send an emai from a vbs script. Everything works fine, except for the attachment, as it turns out I can't do:
    Set objMessage = CreateObject("CDO.Message")
    objMessage.Subject = subj
    objMessage.To = ToAdd
    objMessage.From = FromAddress
    objMessage.TextBody = now() & VbCrLf & BodyText
    objMessage.AddAttachment = folder & NewFileName & "." & FileExt
    Apparently I need to specify an exact location for my file, which isn't ideal as I intend to use the script on different servers, and the filename will change every day. Is there a better way to send an email in vbs as I can't seem to find much information
    apart from using CDO.

    Unfortunately for you, respondents in this forum are unlikely to write the script for you. Here is how you can solve your problem:
    Type a search phrase such as "EMail VBscript" into a Google search box. You will get lots of hits.
    Play with one or two of the scripts you find until you get the knack of the principle.
    Try to customise the script to your specific requirements.
    Post your script here and explain which parts you still have a problem with. Do not append your question to someone else's ancient thread. Start a thread of your own!

  • Forum Software Spell Check

    Please forgive the cross post as I appended this question to a posting in a different forum. Why does the spell checker on this board not recognize the word "Lenovo"? Seems kind of silly that after all this time the dictionary hasn't been updated. The "Learn" function seems to be local, and disappears after a cookie cleanup.

    With 4.5 GB try setting the allowance to 70% or even 80%.  Don't bother quoting absolute numbers, they change dynamically all the time, it's not a static figure.  You are just allowing (not allocating) Photoshop to use up to that percentage of available memory at any given time, after the OS and any other running applications have taken what they need.
    Understood. I've never seen the figure change so I was assuming it doesn't. The 2150 figure is 70%.
    More meaningful would be to know how much available space you have on your boot drive and whether you have a dedicated, physically separate drive designated as your primary scratch disk drive, etc.
    As I mentioned above, the boot drive has 115GB free, the scratch disk has 103GB free. In addition, the drive designated as the scratch disk is also the drive that has the working files on it.
    Thanks.

  • Cannot always allow certificate Mail for Exchange

    Goodmorning,
    Ive been stuggling with some Nokia models in our company that ask to accept certificate. But the only option i currently get is that i can only accept it for this moment and not always. Ive tried different instructions made up by users on this forum but they do not work for me.
    The models
    C5-03
    E71
    Also the certificate does not appear in the trusted website part on the phone when i accepted it.
    Kind regards,

    The question? If you tried everything from the board, you are done with the board, aren’t you? You could have appended your question to one of those threads and then everyone finding that thread, would have benefit from the new answer. Without any error message, we do not even know which stage of the problem you face.
    The general solution is:
    You take your certificate authority (CA), not its private key but its public certificate, convert that not to base-64 (PEM) but to binary format (DER), and then you beam it over to your Nokia. The easiest way to do that beaming, place it on one of your web-servers (HTTP), change the file extension to .cer (to get Windows Phone compatibility) and make sure the MIME media type of .cer is application/x-x509-ca-cert (to get Nokia Series 40 compatibility).
    However, the much easier solution would be to go out and buy a certificate for example from RapidSSL. RapidSSL is linked to GeoTrust which is linked to Equifax (Symantec), available on every Nokia since the year 2007. RapidSSL costs less than US$10 per year. You can buy one for the next four years. At the end of the ordering process, you are send one intermediate certificate. Do not go for that but for the primary and secondary intermediates from their webpage. Then, all your devices work withouth installing any certificate with your end-users at all, for four years. More details and help on debugging, there …

  • A question in appending data to excel

    Hi,
    Just a quick question, when I tried to use "write file" component of transactions to append data (eg. 00012345) to .csv file, Excel automatically converted  it from "00012345" to "12345" . Anyone can tell me how to modify the expression in the Link Editor to resolve this problem?
    Thanks..

    Be sure that the value is in quotation marks, as in "000012345", in the CSV file.  This might give Excel the "hint" that it is to be treated as a string, not a number.

  • Digital signature/appending question

    Got a question for y'all. I work with a medical practice who just started using Acrobat 9 to affix digital signatures to their documents. Using Acrobat, they've created a page that can be filled in with information about a patient, and then digitally signed by the doctor.
    Here's the thing. We just got done scanning all of the patient charts for this practice and converting then to PDFs. So now, all the charts are electronic. Each chart is divided into seperate tabs (Patient Info, Treatment Plan, etc.). After a doctor fills out the page they've created and then digitally signs it, we would then like to save it and then append it to the corresponding tab in that patient's chart (in this case, Pateint Info). Using Acrobat, filling it out, signing it and saving it is no problm, it's when we append it that the problem surfaces.
    After it's appended, the signature goes away! What can we do about this? Obviously, we don't want that signature going anywhere. Any ideas? Please help, we'd like to get this solved ASAP!

    Thanks for the link! However, there is something new that has recently arisen:
    Every time a patient comes into the office for an appointment, a new page is added to certain parts of the chart (such as Progress Notes) detailing their last visit. Now that all the charts are electronic, this can be done on a computer. So, for a section like, say, Progress Notes, there's all the old charts organized with the most recent one on top. However, that's not the very first page-the very first page is a blank progress note, ready for the patient's next visit.
    All they want to be able to do when they fill out a chart is, after it's saved, have it go on top of the chart (as it's now the most recent page) and have a new blank page appear, ready for the next visit. It's like inserting a blank page, but they don't want to do that-they simply want a new blank page to appear and move to the front on top of the most recent page.
    Does this make sense? I really could use some help ASAP!

  • Log4j appender question

    I need some log4j help. Hope anyone can help me.
    Question 1:
    I need to log information to 4 different files. As far as I can tell from the log4j docs, I will then need to create 4 different appenders in the log4j.properties file. How can I do that?
    Looking at examples, it looks like I will need to add 4 new sections similar to this one. Is that correct?
    # Logfile 1
    log4j.appender.log1=org.apache.log4j.RollingFileAppender
    log4j.appender.log1.File=C:/Sun/logs/logme1.log
    Question 2:
    After that is done, how can I actually write to the files? When logging I was thinking just using: logger.info("log something").
    How can I specify which file that will log to? Is that even the correct way to log?
    Hope someone can help!

    After that is done, how can I actually write to the files? When logging I
    was thinking just using: logger.info("log something").
    How can I specify which file that will log to? Is that even the correct
    way to log?apperantly, it doesn't seem like you have understand how log4j works. that's probably why warnerja tell you to perform some search.
    understand the technology first..then ask specific question here.
    it will be useless just handling out answers to everyone. i think they're here just not to provides answers, but to educate other along the way...but they need to see an effort was made first.
    you're right..there are time when one doesn't have enough time to understand the whole technology..or the technology is too difficult to comprehend..or the documentation is poor., but i think there are plenty of good documentation on log4j. Futhermore..what you are asking is not usually shown in the documentation, but a google search would probably provides you with the answer you seek..you just need to find a good keyword.
    Futhermore, I suggest you read some tutorial on log4j if you plan to use the technology..it will not takes all day..maybe an hour or so..just to get how the technology works
    anyway,
    your appender tell the logger where the log the message to (depends on the level you specified) .. so if you have 3 appender that specified
    the level to be INFO, and you have logger.info("This is an INFO message"), then the message will be log to all three files.

    tell what appender to use...so include all your appender in this property.
    you appender specified the logging level INFO, WARN, DEBUG,
    ERROR, or FATAL. I'm not sure how to specified the min and max level
    for an appender using a property file..for xml configuartion file..look at
    the example provide in previous reply.
    now if you do :
    logger.info("This is an info message") and want it to log to file1 and file2
    and log.info("This is another info message") and you want this to log to file3
    you can't do that...a way around this is to create your own level..and the
    appender will specifies that level.
    if you plan to use an XML configuration file, then make sure you include the <root> node
    <root>
       <priority value="debug"/>
       <appender-ref ref="DEBUG"/>
       <appender-ref ref="INFO"/>
       <appender-ref ref="MY_APPENDER_NAME"/>
    </root>
    </log4j:Configuration>
