Apple: please make Finder's windows minimum width smaller

The minimum window width in the finder increased when Lion came out, and is now even larger in Mountain Lion. I like to have multiple windows open in Finder, to remind myself of active projects, and these changes mean that with each OS release, I have to decrease the number of windows I can see at any one time.

I can't think of a reason that Apple won't let me make the windows smaller.
Please help those us who are suffering from ever increasing window widths.
(Unless this is part of a devious plan to eventually, in a few more OS releases, make OS X look like iOS where there is only one window)

Which screen are you using now ? I have a 27 and no problem of course but I do not have this problem even on my MacBookPro 15.
Anyway I agree with you, yours is a good suggestion because we have to be free to resize as much as possible.

Apple please make 'finder' moveable...

A never ending frustration is that I want to be able to move finder on my dock, but it's obviously locked in place by apple. It is one thing i use a fair bit, and get frustrated each time as it is at the very left end of the dock... So a request, if anyone has any work around to be able to move it... Don't really understand why it needs to be locked in place...

Apple please make this..... i am begging you...

Can you find a way to make some sort of portable smaller "ghettoblaster" or "boom box" like unit, that has an integrated air port in it, as well as an am/fm, and typical features, as well as kicking good sound. It would be perfect for taking out on the deck or balcony and using the existing airport network and play the music that is already playing in the house via iTunes. With the remote function on the iPhone it would be seamless. I already have about four air port express units in my place and do want the ability to go outside with out having to plug in both the radio/ipod speakers as well as the air port. It seems that it is one of those things that i thought was made already but the lady in the Apple store looked at me like a confused puppy. Apple please make this so i can add it to the already long slit of products I want.

Upgrading to IOS6 was a big, big, big mistake..... I needed the street view feature for travelling about.... What they have in now is crap !!!

Exactly. Which is what I was leading to. Not sure why the OP is having issues with using apple.com on an iOS device.
I'm guessing he just doesn't like using a small screen. But, since that's publicly viewbale feature prior to purchasing an iPhone, so... yeah.

Apple please make landscape keyboard optional!

Apple please have a feature in the settings menu where we can disable the landscape keyboard in messaging!
Or even have have an option where we can disable the landscape mode in general. Theres lots of times where Im texting and slightly turn my phone and it goes into landscape mode. Or when im laying down and it stays in landscape mode.
Its bugging me!

APPLE: PLEASE make VPN exit conditional on closing shares!!!!

This just happens too often: I connect to a customer via VPN and when I disconnect, if I haven't closed the open shares I opened during the session, my MBP COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY LOCKS UP!!!!
I've waited up to 10 minutes for things to settle, but there's nothing that can be done except a hard reset. It simply doesn't respond to any of the normal key commands used to regain control of the system.
And when I do close the shares: I disconnect and everything is just peachy.
It would make perfect sense to either ask the user to eject the shares before closing the VPN, or even better, have the system automatically close the shares before disconnection.
This is a really big oversight for anyone doing VPN, and it has a really simple solution. Some searching shows this is in fact a common problem. If someone know WHERE I can send this to Apple tech support more directly, please let me know; I couldn't find a direct email on the main support page.

If you want to report this to Apple, better, IMO, is to send bug reports and enhancement requests via its Bug Reporter system. To do this, join the Apple Developer Connection (ADC)—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that. Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter and file your bug report/enhancement request. The nice thing with this procedure over submitting feedback is that you get a response and a follow-up number; thus, starting a dialog with engineering.

There is clearly a big big problem with we that upgraded to iTunes 7.7.
Upgrade to 7.7 , Library dissappears.
I came to Support today, in hopes of finding out what may have happened to my Library, which I keep on an External HD.
First checking support , I found NOTHING. As usual.
When I came over here to check Discussions , well, what a trainwreck.
Apart from fixing the danged application, I ask, plead, beseech you kind people at Apple Support:
Please create an up-to-date list of fixes.
There are so many threads, so many things to try -to varying degrees of success- that I am paralyzed with doubt and confusion.
Which of these zillion fixes should I try?
I am NOT a left-brainer so I am useless at deciding what I should do. Further , I am only slightly confident that I am doing the right things:
-did I drag and drop the right file?
-What's an xml file ?
- is this what "open from applications" really means?
- what exactly does "library" is "in" "iTunes" mean and how do I know I am in the right place?
Please create a comprehensive list , culled from all of these unhappy 7.7 Upgradees.
Help me know what are the latest and bestest way to find "my iTunes" (whatever that means.
Make it step-by-step so a non-linear thinker can follow it, without fear of fcuking up everything even more.
I know that I have great limitationsin my understanding; I'm not ashamed to say so in public.
There's no way that i am the only Mac owner in all the land that is similarly handicapped.
I like to think I speak for us all.

I think you misunderstand this forum. Apple Tech Support has essentially no presence here. It's a user-to-user forum. It's possible that one of your fellow users may take it upon themselves to summarize things but, then again, they may be too busy answering questions.
You also have to keep in mind that people come here with problems so, it sometimes seems as if everyone in the world is having a problem. But, the people who aren't having problems, aren't posting here.
So, you're going to have to do some of the work yourself to solve your problem. You might start by posting exactly what happened, what your seeing and what error messages your getting. If you've already done that in another thread, that's great.

How do I make Finder columns auto-fit width of filenames?

This is a tiny irritant, as such things go, but maybe one with an easy fix, if I only knew it. I normally use the Finder window in column view. Longer filenames are truncated by dots in the middle. In order to see the entire filenames, I have to go to the bottom of each column and use my mouse pointer to drag the column wider.
Is there not a way to set the columns to either "fit widest entry" or fit some wider size that I preset for them?

Option dragging the resize widget || will resize all columns, wide or narrow, all the same and seems to stick.
Otherwise:
Double clicking on the resize widget || will temporarily expand that column to show all.
Option double click will temporarily resize all columns to the largest width needed..

This is the year 2014. Been waiting so long for the mac mini 2014 only to find out its outdated before it even hit the store.
4K at 30hz is simply not enough for use as mediacenter or for all the new 4k monitors comming out 2015!
I am not going to buy it even I have been waiting for more than a year and allways said "take my money".
I Could live with soldered ram (even that it to me chipped that glass facade of apple even more) but lack of 4k does it for me.
My fear is that we have to wait for as long as last time before a refreshed mac mini that support 4k 60hz is out and so it is with regret that my money set aside for mac mini is going towards a surface pro 3 instead (hope this tablet will help me get away from the apple ecosystem).

Everybody misses the point in the first place.
Having a $500 dollar computer, or even a upgraded $500 to $900 computer, that essentially does the same thing as your $3,000 to $8,000 computers does not make business sense.
In a charity world, maybe.
It was to much bang for the buck, to little profit. That's why they stopped it. Killed it!
It's gone forever. It was trial and error in the first place and found to be huge error.. It's surprising it went on as long as it did.
It will do nice basic editing and whatnot, an outstanding machine.
An exceptional and great value computer. A fantastic computer.
It will just no longer do $20,000 or $100,000 worth of complex compute work for $500.
I don't know how everybody has such a hard time figuring that out.
That $500 computer is a million dollar computer in many regards. Seriously!

i seen the review are mixed because of support issues and also i seen that both this app can become one app.
i wonder if apple have a plan to mix this in or make a new app in iOS app store.
to explain it, it would be great if I, as a photographer, could share my albums inside a program like viewbook portfolio
and able to create an app for it, and then people can be refer to it and download it from app store.

               - the album then saved as an app
                         - people can find and download it from app store
                                 - and works on both iphone and ipad....
maybe also on macbook, since mountain lion will behave the same.

I thought I would share a dream with you I had last night. As you may know I am a big apple fan. I love my mac pro, macbook pro, and mac mini. But my vision ( and it was a real dream! ) was to incoroporate the Mac Pro into a Home theater pc. All Apple needs to do is make the box smaller then the mac pro (but same design)! and make the dvd slot sideways. I think it would look great in any home theater setup. I would call it the iMount or the iTheater or the iRack
Please apple, make this! And if you do, please dont forget to pay me a little bit eh?

IMO a Mac Pro-type system would be vast overkill. A mini has all the performance you need for a media playback system.
But if you really want to suggest it to Apple, use the feedback pages. Don't hold your breath waiting, though. I think the number of people who would be interested in paying the premium price is going to be too small for Apple to consider.
