Apportionment of wages to diff Cost Centers automatically

Hi,
Supposing if an employee has worked in 30 different cost centers in a month how the wages are posted to 30 different cost centers in that particular month.  Since only one cost center is maintained in the personnel master(under infotype- organisational assignment) how the wages can be distributed to 30 cost centers automatically and reflected in controlling module.

Hi,
I suggest to use CO distribution (T-code KSV5) to distribute the employees cost from the HR employees master data cost center to the receiving cost center(s).
Pick up the sender / receiver relation from your "other application" and post a statistical key figure in SAP using "BAPI_ACC_STAT_KEY_FIG_POST" (I don't think you will do it manually using KB31N).
Best regards, Christian

  • Different Cost Centers for Different Line Items in a single Reservation

    Hello Gurus,
When we create a Material Reservation, we give the cost center at the header level and that cost center is accounted for each of the line items in the reservation. But when the reservation has many line items which depend on different cost centers,  there is a need to enter different cost centers for different line items in the same Material Reservation. How can this be done? Please suggest.

    Hi,
It's a standard restriction in SAP functionality  where one reservation document can only accommodate one cost center.
You can not maintain multiple cost centres for individual line items.
You have to create seperate Reservations for each cost centre.

  • Assigning Cost Centers to Automatic postings

    Hi,
We have a situation where we want to make the 'cost center' field a required field, for all GL postings.
However, If I just change the the config setting in the field status code, there are automatic postings from SD, MM etc. that may be blocked from being posted.
I did some searching around the forums, but I can't find a way to address this issue. For a goods movement, the system can assign a GL account number using the account determination. But is there also a way to assign Cost Centers to these postings?
Does OKB9 handle these postings from MM/SD? Or is it only for automatic postings such as exchange rate differences and tax?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Sam

    hi Sam,
OKB9 handles any automatic postings (MM, SD, etc.), just give it a try! Of course it only works for P/L accounts, not for B/S ones. It does not make much sense to post controlling objects on B/S accounts (at least for me).

  • Automation for actual input of utility rate in Production Cost centers

    Dear All,
Currently we have a process where we are downloading actual rates through KSII for each location and rates calculated are inputed through KBK6 for all individual production cost centers by activities ,so my requirement is whether there is any procedure where downloading and uploading can be eliminated and actual rates calculated by system directly loads on to the production cost centers.
    Kindly provide any suggestions
    Thanks and Regards
    vijay

    Hi,
If u run KSII, system will give a message "Do you want to post the results of price calculation?" if u click on YES , it will automatically update  in your KBK6.  Pl. Check once.

  • Multiple cost centers postings in RE-FX.

    Hello everyone!
We are currently implementing SAP Flexible Real Estate solution to manage the company's properties. We are facing some problems regarding the distribution of rental costs among multiple costs centers. Our scenario is basically this (example):
1)In our usage view we have one building with three rental spaces connected to it. Each rental space has different area-measurements and represents different segments in our company (with a specific cost-center associated to it).
2)The company doesn`t own the building, the structure is rented from a person outside the organization. In this case we`ve created a Commercial lease-in type of contract (external contract, where the company is the user of the object).
3)This contract contains the three rental spaces mentioned above, and we've configured the contract condition to distribute the rental costs among these objects based on the area measurement.
4)When we perform transaction RERAPP for this contract to pay the vendor we`ve noticed that even though the costs where divided among the objects, the cost-centers were not updated.
Considering that the contract doesn't have a cost center field in it and also considering that we have to update multiple cost-centers (with a distribution criteria based on measurements), we would like to know if someone have this kind of problem before?
We are using an older version of the SAP System(4.7) that doesn't offer as many options as more recent versions (such as 6.0)
    Thanks a lot!
    Gizele Bueno

    Hi,
In this case, instead of Cost centres, Real estate Objects will act as the Cost carriers. No need for Cost centres at all.
Since the Real Estate Objects master data contain Profit centre field, the values posted to Real estate Objects will be automatically carried to the Profit centres as well.
During Periodic processing of Real Estate Contracts, the system will automatically post to the Transfer and Posting. During transfer posting values will be posted from Real Estate Contract to the Real estate Object.
You can track costs and revenues through Real Estate Objects directly, No need for Cost centres at all.
    Thanks
    Siva

  • WBS Elements and Asset Under Constructions have different Cost Centers

    Hello Experts,
We have created a WBS element in one of the projects.
As per standard process, when we create the WBS Element the Asset under construction is also getting created through the settlement rule within the WBS.
These assets should have the same Cost Center as the WBS has. However we are in a situation wherein the Cost Center in the asset under construction is different than the Cost Center in the WBS.
I have checked the settings like automatic account assignment, etc but all settings look correct.
Can you please explain first what could be the reason for such a difference between Cost Centers in WBS and AuC's and what is the solution to avoid it in future?
    Thanks in advance
    Leena

    Thanks for your replies...
@ Alex - There is no Investment Programme ID maintained for this WBS in question since there is no IM for this project.
@ Abdul - Please elaborate more on Validation and Substitution.
    Regards,
    Leena.

  • One warehouse with three cost centers

    Dear GURUs,
We are facing a problem while doing following activity
    1. We have one warehouse (suppose 2465), which is sending material to three sales offices(2415,2416,2417) from sales office the material is dispatched to customer.
2.(Old setting)We have assigned the each sales office to each cost center & profit center is taken through material at plant.
    3. (new setting) Profit center is removed from material master .
    4. While sending a material from warehouse to sales office customer ,we are putting the profit center at sales order field.System automatically picking the profit center which is entered in the sales order.
      5. But at same time if freight or any other condition(discount or rounding off) is put then system is picking warehouse as cost center
But we require respective sales office cost center
Note: Customer's sales office should be considered as a cost center as material will be dispached directly from warehouse to customer.
    With Regards
    Sandeep & Ajay

    Dear,
IF you have to take care of capacity planning and scheduling, then you need to use  only one WC and having two WC will not serve the pirpose.
Generaly you cannot assign WC to 2 different cost center unless the period is different.
Then the only solution is let the cost get posted to 1 common cost centre. Then at the month end distribute the cost to 2 different cost centers depending on then qty produced.
This is the one laternative we are following.

  • Cost Centers and distribution rules

I need to allocate costs to profit centers and would like to have the costs be allocated first to the department cost center then distributed to product profit center by %.
Example:  An invoice is first allocated to the sales department, then the distribution rule will allocate the cost between 4 product lines (33 % chemical A, 33 % chemical b, 17 % chemical c and 17 % chemical d).
How would I setup the profit centers, cost centers and distribution rule to accomplish the above task.
    Thank you,
    Wayne

    Hi Fred,
    I assume you using 8.81?
    1. Administration - General Settings - Cost Accounting : Tick "Use Multidimensions" option
    2. Financial - Cost Accounting - Dimensions : Tick "Dimension 1" and "Dimension 2".
Give proper description to each dimension, in your case maybe "Department" to Dimension 1 and "Product" to Dimension 2
    3. Financial - Cost Accounting - Cost Centers : Create your intended cost centre, "Sales" cost centre with dimension "Department", "Chemical A" to "Chemical D" with dimension "Product"
    4. Financial - Cost Accounting - Distribution Rules :
As for your intention to allocate the invoice to Sales Department, since you want to allocate it 100% to Sales Department, you don't need to create a distribution rules, since B1 will automatically create a distribution rule with 100% allocation for each cost centre you created.
As for your production cost allocation, create a distribution rule with your code "DR-P01" as an example, choose dimension "Product", set the Total with "100". In the detail section, choose each cost centre (Chemical A to D), enter respective value and click "Add" button.

  • Define Time-Based Fields for Cost Centers

    Dear All!
I would like to know , how I'm abale to cahnge the setting
of business area for Time-Based Field of Cost Centers to period
    Transaction is OKEG
    Would be thankful

You can maintain master data for cost centers, cost elements, activity
types, and business processes with time dependencies. You can make
changes at any time for any given time interval. Data storage also takes
place with a time reference. In this way, a master data record can have
multiple database records storing different information.
The smallest interval is one day. To ensure data consistency, you
cannotchange each field daily. The timeframes in which you can change a
field depend on the field functions, which are fixed by the SAP R/3
System and cannot be changed. Master data maintenance includes an
automatic check for each field's time-based consistency, resulting in
individual time-based maintenance for each field.

  • GST allocation to cost centers

    hi all,
in an invoice the GST from all line items will go to a single cost center, but my client wants to automatically distribute it to their respective cost centers entered in the line items with out manual entry
    ex:
Itm PK ACC        Tx  Amt   CC
    01  31  venacc           x
    02  40  glacc1      t5   y       c1

    04  40  glacc1      t5   x       c3
    05  40  GSTacc    t5   ?       C4
here they wants to distribute the tax in c4  to the c1,c2,c3
    t5 is 5% GST
will it be possible to automate this?

    Hi Sravanthi,
Here is the segment parameters I tried for your scenario which ofcourse works.
    Sender rule: posted amounts 100%
Receiver rule: variable amounts/actual costs/no tracing
    sender CC
    cost element:tax a/c
    receivers:v c1 to c4
    sender values:share 100%
    actual value origin
    receiver tracing factor:
    Var.portion type: actual costs
    cost elements:inventory accounts posted to
    rec weighting factors:
    100
    100
    Hope this is clear.

  • Assignt cost centers to PSG

    Assignt cost centers to PSG
    Hi Experts.
i create a derivation rule in COPA, and assign Cost centers in it for posting of expenses.
when i post a document in FB60, and assign respective cost center the profit segment is not active.
i assign the cost element (ctg "1") in OKB9 with the check on PSG. and post the document in FB60, the PSG is active in that case,
i want to specify some cost centers which automatically active PSG in FI posting.
    Hope you understand my query.
    regards
    MuR!!!!

Thank you all for your help.
We don't have Cost center as Default Acct Assignment for Cost element. So, as per Rajneesh advice, can't we restrict GL posting to cost center and allow revenue which is statistical value  if I activate following settings in Cost center?  Please correct me if I making any mistake.

  • Multiple Cost Centers in PO

When a PO is entered with Multiple Cost Centers, and Account Assignment Cateogry K,  the GR Non-Valuated indicator in the item details (Delivery Tab), gets checked automatically. This caused the subsequent GRN to be non valuated as well and no accounting document were posted at the time of GRN. How can this be rectified ? i.e How to enter a PO with multiple cost centers and Acct Assignment Category K, which is valuated and thus costs are allocated at the time of GRN  (mvt type 101) ?

    Hi,
You GR is not valuated for  Cost center PO as GR Non-Valuated Check box selected for cost object K which can be cross checked in OME9 t.code for account assignment category K,if want GR valuated, just remove the check box and create PO, do GR and find the difference.
As you want to post multiple accounts with single cost center, then use t.code:OME9, double click K, and enter 2 in I 1D-Acct assignment field instead of 1 and save. Now create PO, do GR and find the difference.

  • Cost Center -- Automatic Cost Allocation

    Hi at all,
    1. We receive a monthly invoice for electricity etc.
    2. We put the hole amount in one Cost Center.
    3. At the end we allocate the amount manually to each relevant Cost Center/Department.
    From A $100.000
    To S $50.000
    To T $40.000
    To Z $10.000
    To ...
Is there a way to automate this?
    It can be really annoying.
    Markus

    Hi Markus,
If i understand you correctly, you will book energy cost to one cost center and end of the month you will allocate to other cost centers.
two ways you can allocate costs in.
    1. Assessment
    2. Distribution
    Assessment:
Assessment is an activity that you perform periodically, during the period-end closing in Overhead Cost Controlling (CO-OM), in which primary and secondary overhead costs are assessed from one or more sender objects to one or more receiver objects.
Assessment means that the sending cost center is credited and the receiving cost center is charged under a freely definable secondary cost element. The original cost elements that were charged by the sender cost center are lost, and are converted to one or more assessment cost elements (secondary cost elements).
Assessment groups together the posted primary and secondary costs and allocates them to the receiving cost center(s) in an assessment cost element. The cost centers for assessment are the quality lab, IT, cafeteria, housekeeping and plant security.
For example, you could assess the cost from the Reception cost center to the other cost centers based on the headcount managed in those cost centers.
    T.code : KSU1,KSU2 and KSU3,
    To Execute :KSU5
    Distribution:
Distribution is an activity that you perform periodically, during the period-end closing in Overhead Cost Controlling (CO-OM), in which primary overhead costs are distributed from one or more sender objects to one or more receiver objects.
Many documents in Financial Accounting involve overhead costs. A clear allocation to one or more cost centers is not possible, or only with a major effort. You can use the allocation cost centers and internal orders as auxiliary constructs in such cases. During distribution, these costs are allocated (distributed) from their allocation cost centers to the actual receivers according to freely definable rules. The sender cost center is credited, and the receiving cost center charged, under the original cost element. In contrast to periodic reposting, however, the accounting information is lost in the process.
    T.code : KSV1,KSV2 and KSV3
    To Execute :KSV5
if you want to allocate costs by head count or fixed percentage etc.when your creating cycles you can choose these options.
    Thanks,
    Rau

  • Physical Inventory Post difference to a diff Cost Center

    HI
I am posting a Physical inventory difference using MI07
Based on the plant i want to post to different Cost Center, is there a way that i can manually provide a cost center in MI07
presently it goes and pulls it from OKB9(default Value), My situation is i have 10 plants For each plant it needs to post to different cost based on the plant
    Thanks

    OSS note 13423 says:
No account assignment can be entered when posting inventory
    discrepancies.
    Cause and prerequisites
    This function is not implemented.
    Solution
In Customizing an account assignment can be made for every inventory
adjustment account. To do this the inventory adjustment account must
first be defined as a cost element (Transaction KA01 / KA06):
Accounting -> Controlling -> Cost centers -> Master data -> Cost element
-> Create primary / secondary. Then an account assignment can be made
for the cost element (Transaction OKB9):
    Tools -> Customizing -> Setup menu -> Accounting -> Controlling -> Cost
centers -> Actual postings -> Automatic account assignment.
If this account assignment is implemented every posting to the
particular inventory adjustment account will automatically receive the
    appropriate account assignment.

  • Cost Centers in FI?

THis may seem like an obvious questions but I need some help.  I support Finance (in IT) but I am not an accountant and we are in the middle of implementing SAP (new GL) (currently using PeopleSoft).
    Are cost centers in FI?
I've taken SAP classes and talked to the consultants, looked on Google, looked in SAP documentation but I am still not clear.
    Here is what I know:
P&L accounts are in FI and CO
BS accounts are only in FI
I thought cost centers were only in CO
If Cost centers are in FI, can you do reporting by cost center in FI?  Can you do allocations in FI?
    Thank you so much
    Cindy
    help.sap.com

    Hello Cindy,
Cost center accounting is the part of CO.
Cost Center is defined as a cost object of some department of organisation and each cost center holds different cost  in terms of cost element.
    eg.
            --Salary account
            --rent account
            ---wages account
There tow type of cost element
    a) Primary cost element
    b)Secondary cost elemet
all the primery cost element is linked to GL account that must be created first in the FI chart of accounts.
and secondary cost element can be created only in CO.
