AppSet Status??
Hi Guys,
Anyone know which table stores the application set status? I would like to have a monitoring job check the table, but i can't seem to find it in the database.

Hi,
Yes you can find it in "tblDefaults" table...
There is a row like this:
_GLOBAL SYSTEM AVAILABLEFLAG
Value is 1 for available and 0 for unavailable.

How to lookup application set status in BPC for Excel
Hello,
we have created some packages diabling the appset status when running.
These packages update dimension data and/or fact data.
Other users will receive an error when sending data to the application when the
packages are running.
Ist there a change to lookup the appset status in BPC for excel?
May be continuously with a macro or just before sending data?
I didn't find a bpc function for this task.

I don't believe there is any way to do this with built-in BPC functionality.
Assuming you're on BPC for Microsoft, in the appset's DB, you can query as follows:
select [value]
from tblDefaults
where [type] = 'system' and keyid = 'availableflag'
-- value of 1 = available
-- value of 0 = not available
I know this works for system availability when it's controlled on / off, manually from the admin consol. I believe it also works when the system is taken offline by a data manager package, but you'd need to check if you plan to implement this. -
Appset offline but data still getting saved
Hi,
We started encountering a strange issue lately. We turn the appset offline for some backend processes. But some of the users are still able to send data via Input Schedules/Packages.
This started happening recently, earlier it worked fine all this time. I am not sure why this could be happening.
All the process owners didn't change the appset status to Online (even by mistake, when we get the pop up while closing the Admin Console, we checked twice before clicking no).
We are using BPC NW 7.5 SP 10. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Changes in the Dimensions not reflected in the Current View and Excel Sheet
Hi Experts,
We're using BPC MS Platform Version 7.0.112 and we're having problems. When we make changes in the dimension members like adding members or making changes in the hierarchy or groupings, it takes time for the changes to reflect in current view or in the excel sheet. After full processing of the dimension we can see the changes we've made when we reopen the dimension member but when we try to use the member we've added in the template, it's not yet in the current view. I've already tried, full processing of all the dimensions, processing application and reassigning aql index, refresh dimension members and yet the changes we've made doesnt appear in the current view. And what's odd is that sometimes the changes we've made would appear after a day or two or nothing at all.
What could be possibly causing this issue?

Thanks for your response, I'm just wondering whats causing this? We never had this issue on older versions of BPC though, so it would really help if we would know the cause of this. Basicaly when do changes in a dimension, after processing (Full Process, System Offline and Process through member sheet), we just had to set the AppSet status to available and refresh the dimension members in Excel and all the changes would already be visible.

RUNLOGIC - Application not found

I have a simple RUNLOGIC script in DEFAULT.LGF to call a script when DATASRC is of type CPUINIT_DRV. When I execute DEFAULT.LGF using a package, am getting the following error:
Application FINANCE was not found
Application: FINANCE Package status: ERROR
Script is below:

EVDRE reports stopped working though data in BI
Hello Experts,
I had created some reports in EVDRE, they were working perfectly fine for few days but all of a sudden they stopped working for me. When I "Expand All", everything clears out and all I have is a blank sheet. I checked the BI, data is there in the backend. The same reports are working on other users' machines but not for me; I tired logging in with my details on a colleague's machine and the report works. Then it stopped working on another user's machine also. I can understand if some report gets corrupted but then it should be for all the users. I am clue less.
Will be grateful for all guidance.

I have checked the AppSet status and I have administrator rights.
As i said the report was working with my login at another user's system but after a few days stopped working for him also. Its like EVDRE reports refuse to work smoothly after sometime.
I have read on SDN where people are saying EVDRE reports stopped working after sometime and they had to create new reports.
Request you to share your experiences where EVDRE has been running for say 2+ years. Does EVDRE work as expected for long periods of time or they are unstable?

When it comes to processing of dimensions, what is the difference between ticking or unticking "Take System Offline" besides the effect it has on the application set status, i.e. ticking "Take System Offline" gives appset status - Unavailable, unticking "Take system offline" leaves appset status - available as it is.

I saw some information which are good but also some information which are wrong.
1. When you are doing changes into one domension until you don't process that dimension these changes has no impact into system
2. You have to take the system offline just when you know this can have an impact regarding reporting data for users.
How do you know if changes has impact regarding reporting data?
Looking to properties of that dimension. Any changes regarding properties having check "InApp" has impact to entire cube which means you have to process with full process and of course you have to take the users offline.
3. Adding members can be done with system on line because process of cube will be done incremental.
Not in thecase when you add a member somewhere in the midle of one hoierachy ...in that case you have to take the system offline and to do full process
3. Deleting of users has to be done usually with system offline because has impact regarding hierachy or has to be deleted existing data from fact table...so recommendation is to do it with users offline
4. Any changes into hierachy I suggest to be done with users offline because it has impact regarding retrieve data.
5. You can process a dimension withotu taking the system offline in case when you add property which is not "Inapp".
To conclude:
Process dimension can be done with users online just:
1. adding simple members (usually base members)
2. adding properies for a dimension without having "inapp" selected.
For rest of case you have to do the process with system offline otherwise the users can report inconsistency of data.

V4.2 error: Short term data storage is full
Hope someone here can help. We are still using 4.2 for now.
Upon logging into Admin, we are receiving an error stating "PLANNING short term data storage is full, do you want to optimize the application?". When checking the appset status the application only has about 400 records in short term storage. We have tried saving the application immediately followed by optimization, yet this error continues.
Any thoughts on how to rectify this?
Thank you.So you have scheduled a lite optimize or full optimize where you are specifying the number of records from where the optimize is necessary.
This number is probably very small between 0 and 400 and every time when you are connecting with admin module you are receiving this message.
So you have to change that number to be 40000 not more and you will not receive any more that message when you have 400 records you will receive the message when you will have over 40000.
You can find the parameter also into tbldefault table from your appset.
I don't remember the name of parameter but you will manage to find out this parameter.

Issue with setting work status
Hi Gurus,
I am using the standard work status (copied from Appset), in the applications work status setting I have set entity as owner and time and category as yes for work status. In the entity dimension under owner and reviewer property I have keyed in the correct user ids. I am using one of the owner user id to perform the activity mentioned below
The issue I am facing is when I select modify work status from Esubmit menu it takes me to the web interface for setting the Work status after selecting the value for the 3 dimensions mentioned above when I click on OK it pops up a message that you are not authorized to change the work status setting please contact system administrator. The owners have admin profiles for auth so they should be able to do pretty much everything.
would appreciate help on this

ThanksMake sure all the members within the parent hierarchy you are using have owners assigned.
In BPC terms; Managers are the owners of parents, owners are the owners of members.
For example the owner might be a clerk entering forecast data for a single/set of entities, (base level members). The manager owns the parent.
Also, when testing, make sure you login to the system/server/domain/network, (whatever) with the userid you will be testing with and then login to BPC. (Just to be sure.)
This should do it if you have everything else laid out!

I've scheduled FX Restatement packages to run each day in two different versions (6 times a day starting at 0615) for a year or so. However when I check out the 'View Package Status' the jobs I set up in the first version doesn't run when they are supposed to. I checked out the 'Package Scheduler Status' and I found that the jobs that DIDN'T run was stuck in a status called 'scheduled' while the jobs running had status 'ready'.
So the question is how can I make sure all the jobs are running? Do I have to or can I do something about this myself? If I try to set up a package in two different versions, can the fact that I set them both to run at 0615 generate a conflict resulting in just one of them running?
Hope someone has answers to these questions, would be so great to get this out of the way. Thanks!

remember to click on enable schedule when you schedule a package.
To know if a scheduled package is ok you can see first if present in the tblschedule of your appset and also if present in the windows task schedulerif with status "ready".
After you just have to check the view status if you found the package execution completed you're sure it's running. " version at the same time can cause issues also with different packages better to schedule with a sufficient delay to be sure that the first has ended, in your case 1 package is ok.
I would delete the 2 packages from bpc, checking also the windows scheduler to be sure that no packages are running and rebuild one from scratch setting repeat every 4 hours and checking "enable schedule".

Issue on Badi Execution for copy appset

I have write a badi to Copy Transaction data from appset to another appset it works fine and now i has to enhance the code to copy same to another account.
here comes the issue.,
when i execute the code for hard coded it works fine and post the data for the logic.
but when i keep account =<all> it throughs the error as exception error when i debug the code it shows due to duplicate records.
how can i solve the issue.

the problem is with the work status .
i unlocked the work status for the source and destination applications
and i run the logic the code executed sucess fully...
this is because when the work status is in "confirmed" it doesnt allow to load data to that member.

Initially I was restoring a backup after the dump and retrying from scratch , thus obtaining the same error each time.
In fact when I tried to repeat the action after the crash the program runs through to the end from the point where it failed.

How to determin who/what set application status "UNAVAILABLE"?
Hello Experts,
I've had users reporting that Application is unavailable during normal business hours... Surely, when I've received those reports it was back to normal. Is it being logged anywhere who (user) or what (process) set an application status "UNAVALIABLE"?
From what I can tell, the only job was running during that time was a Data Auditing job (created by Manage Data Audit option).
I have also noticed that from time to time (when Auditing job is running) I receive the following error message trying to access Manage Data Audit:
"Job name : http://outlooksoft.kaplaninc.com/osoft/Admin/AuditAdmin.aspx
Detail : No accessible overloaded LogHandler.WriteLog can be called without a narrowing conversion. "
Eventually, the error goes away and I can access Data Audit page.

AkimAudit is the one which can provide you the information what process was putting the appset offline.
You have to be aware that only the Admin processes are able to put the appset offline. And the admin processes are refering to entire appset not only for one application.
So usually this happen when an administrator was creating a copy of application or it is playing into another application just for test.
The bad thing it is that admin actions into that application is disturbing also the users using the applications from the same appset.
That's the reason because this should not happen into production environment.
Any Admin process for any application from an appset :
Process dimension,
Modify Application.
Full Optimize,
can make the appset to be offline.
So my expectation is that actually nobody is doing something wrong into your current application but you have an admin users doing tests into an application from the same appset and this is creating the application to be sometimes offline.

Blank work status setting page
Hi,
I did a backup of an appset from bpc 5.1 and restored it in bpc 7.0 MS.
i have done all the security changes, changed the database name in the "owner" category in the "entity" dimension accordingly but i still can't bring up the work status changing page.
after i clicked on "set workflow (approval status)", i was brought to a web page, but it just shows a blank action pane. back in 5.1, this would be where you use "active cv" or "another cv"
i noticed a new column in work status settings, i.e. base hierarchy. and there's a default of "1" to all my work status dimensions. Does this have anything to do with my missing work status action pane?

it turned out to be a rookie mistake of not assigning the right users to the application set, after i did an appset restoration in a new server. i also should have assigned the task profile of "change work status" to the relevant users.

Basically, I am from 5.1.
In 5.1, For Application work status settings we have, "AppSet Dim Names" , "WorkState", "Member Validation" Columns.
But in 7.0NW i can see only "AppSet Dim Names" , "WorkState" columns.
Without "Member Validation" column how can we configure work status?

Suppose, I have two users Owner and a normal user.
My entity Dimension is the secure dimension. so, Owner property is configured.
Now, Owner logged in to Admin and Set "Locked" for "Started","Submitted" and "Aproved".
And Normal user logged in ...and access input templates...and submitting data...
Now My question is.....When Owner "locked" the workstatus....How can a normal user can submitting the data..
It should be locked ..right?
