AQDriverManager.createAQSession take Conn with auto commit?

In Oracle Advanced Queueing, can the connection passed to AQDriverManager.createAQSession be set to auto commit? I notice all of the examples in the Oracle documentation have auto commit turned off for the connection.
I've tried it with an auto commit connection and it seems to work, but not sure if this is really supported.

Can someone answer this?

  • Problems with auto commit

    Hi All,
I am having some trouble with the auto commit. In the sql work sheet i update a table and then disconnect. It seems to be auto commiting the changes i made.
i went in and unchecked 'Save all when deactivating or Exiting'
Do i need to turn this auto commit off somehere else?
Would it be possible to get prompted to commit when you disconnect?
    Thanks
    Chris

Yeah. You are up to date. That bug must still exist. Hopefully someone from Oracle is monitoring the thread from OOW and can let you know the status on this. Optionally, you can open a tar (or equiv support request) directly with Oracle.

  • Auto-Commit and Pooled JDBC Connections

    Forum Members,
If I am using Oracle Pooled JDBC Connections in the OC4J container is auto-commit set to "true" by default?
If I set auto-commit to "false" and then close the logical connection, when that connection is handed out again on a later call to getConnection(), is auto-commit automatically set back to "true"?
    Thanks,
    Richard

    Richard,
Pardon me if I am stating the obvious, but you could test that in your code by invoking the getAutoCommit() method in interface java.sql.Connection.
My experience (with OC4J stand-alone versions up to -- and including -- 10.1.2) is that the behaviour depends on which data source you have configured. For example, if you have defined an "ejb-location" attribute in your "data-sources.xml" file, and you use that as your JNDI lookup for your data source, then OC4J handles transactions and you shouldn't deal with "auto-commit" at all. See the following post for more details:
    Re: OC4J 10.1.3 Preview 4 - Global transaction active
But if you have defined a "location" attribute and use that, then you do need to handle transactions explicitly.
    Hope this helps.
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • AUTO-COMMIT when passing sql scripts to sqlplus possible ?

I am not sure but I think I have read somewhere that there is an AUTO-COMMIT feature in sqlplus. When I enter some SQL statements in sqlplus and forget the COMMIT; statement at the end then sqplplus will do it for me.
How do I enable this in sqlplus ?
Assume I enter a couple of individual SQL statements.
With AUTO-COMMIT enabled is then a COMMIT done at the end of ALL statements (just before the "exit") or after each individual SQL statement ?

You might also look at SQL*Plus EXIT command:
»EXIT with no clauses commits and exits with a value of SUCCESS.«

  • Oracle.xml.sql.OracleXMLSQLException:Cannot enable auto commit within JTS transaction

    Hi All,
OracleXMLSave class in the Oracle XDK is being used to load XML data into an 8170 database. The Java code is running in IBM WebSphere with container-managed transactions. When JTA is enabled with the Merant JDBC driver for Oracle, we get the following error when the XML is loaded:
oracle.xml.sql.OracleXMLSQLException: Cannot enable auto commit within JTS
    transaction
         at java.lang.Throwable.fillInStackTrace(Native Method)
         at oracle.xml.sql.dml.OracleXMLSave.saveXML(OracleXMLSave.java:2213)
         at oracle.xml.sql.dml.OracleXMLSave.insertXML(Compiled Code)
This suggests the OracleXMLSave class is not aware of the fact that it is now operating in a JTS transaction where control is managed elsewhere. i.e. should also not attempt to commit or rollback, as this is the responsibility of the container.
Is there a property which needs to set to prevent the above or does the XDK not work with J2EE (JTS) transactions?.
If you have any useful comments, let me know. Testing the above presents me with a number of problems so if this is easily explained , let me know.
    Thanks,
    Malcolm

Clearly , there does seem to be something a bit odd with the above stack.
<Bug:1917808> mentions OracleXMLSave in context of plsql equivalent : dbms_xmlsave . i.e dbms_xmlsave is a wrapper around OracleXMLSave class.
disabling autocommit on connection as follows should help:
    conn = DriverManager.getConnection("connect string","scott","tiger");
    conn.setAutoCommit(false);
to disble auto commit and see if this has an effect.
This issue might be <Bug:1497506>. If disabling autocommit does not work then it appears that it could be this issue .

  • [OIM] Error in Direct Provisioning (with auto save form) - GTC DB App Table

    Hi,
I am getting an error when setting up direct provision of a GTC DB App Conn using OIM access policy (and group membership) or through manual provisioning with prepopulate and auto save form.
Manual provisioning with prepopulate ONLY (not with auto save form) WORKS!!!
Some information about my OIM config:
    - Prepopulate adapters are set up on both forms (parent and child)
    - "Auto prepopulate" and "Auto save form" are set up at Process Definition
    - For direct provisioning, I have created an access policy with an associated group which has a membership rule
    What it is working:
    - Provisioning manually, using prepopulate adapters only, not auto save form. Both tables are updated properly
    - All *3 tasks are called and finished with status=Completed*: "System Validation", "Create User" and "Child Table UD_<connector child table name>_US row Inserted"
    Testing direct provisioning:
    - I have tested adding the resource manually with prepopulate and autosave form configured, and also through access policy/group membership. The error is the same on both tests
    - The resource is displayed as provisioned and it is created an entry in the parent table of the resource, but not on child table
    - I also observed that only: "System Validation" and "Create User" tasks were executed (status=Completed). But it is missing the task "Child Table UD_<connector child table name>_US row Inserted"
    - The error log info displays only an error regarding to UGP table (Groups info) but I am not sure if that is the cause of entry creation on child table.
It seems the SQL stmt tries to get ugp_name (group name) using ugp_key but that has null value.
"SELECT ugp_name FROM ugp WHERE ugp_key=java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-00936: missing expression"
Note: When testing manually (without auto save form), I got "SELECT ugp_name FROM ugp WHERE ugp_key=1" which it is the same SQL stmt but the value is provided.
    My guess:
    - It seems that error is aborting the whole execution process so "Child Table UD_<connector child table name>_US row Inserted" task does not run, even though previous tasks are finished with the status=Completed. Consequently, the entry is not created on child table.
Please, any guess or help would be very helpful. In case nothing works, I guess I will have to create and customize a "Update child Form" task as an workaround which would be called after "Create User" task.
    Regards,
    Hugo
    My environment:
    - Windows 2003, WebLogic 10.3.0.0, OIM 9.1.0.2 BL4, Oracle 10g, Java 1.6, DB App Table Connector 9.1.0.2 (from October 2009)
    - Target Resource: Parent and Child Table (Oracle 10g - the same OIM DB)

    An update:
I solved that error about "ORA-00936: missing expression" applying OIM 9.1.0.2 BP05. That was not impacting my issue regarding direct provisioning with auto save form and child form.
So please if anyone can confirm:
    - Can I set up prepopulate adapters on child forms AND also use "auto save form" on GTC DB App Table connector?
    If not, any suggestion?
    Regards
    Hugo

  • Auto Commit in Oracle Document Capture

    Hi,
I have recently installed and configured Oracle Document Capture 10g as a part of IPM installation. I have configured ODC to Scan, Index and commit to UCM 11g system. Scanning and indexing are going fine without and problem. However, I could not make the commit automatic. Please help me configure an auto-commit, so that I don't have to go to ODC every time and do a manual commit. Or is it possible to auto-commit at all ?
    Thank you
    Rama

In this case I think the problem is somewhere else. Normally, an indexed batch is committed immediately when you you confirm the message at the end of the last page. For that you don't even need the Commit server configured. Commit server with Indexing is used mainly in use cases, when you want to schedule committing (e.g. to a certain time). I guess the Commit Server is not activated, because the batch is not fully processed. AFAIK, recently released 11g is much better option for small batches.
I'd recommend you to try the Commit Server together with the Import/Recognition Server, which can be fully automated. Maybe this will enable you to understand what the problem with Indexing could be.

  • Why does text field in InfoPath 2010 show user name with two commas between first name and last?

Here's the problem. I have a text field called Manager in an InfoPath 2010 form that is getting populated by a drop down field called
    Business Unit.
The Business Unit drop-down field is pulling information from
column A in a custom list via a managed data connection. The custom List has two columns:
    Title & Manager.
The Manager column in the custom list is a 'Person or Group' type column.
The Data Connection pulls both the Title, Manager
    (and ID) data.
There is a rule on the Business Unit drop-down field to change the value of the
Manager text field with the Manager data on the custom list. The rule pulls the
Manager information and filters the value to match the
Business Unit on the Data Connection with the Business Unit drop-down
    field value (Main).
The Business Unit drop-down field works great and pulls the value from the custom list, and the rule populates the Manager text field. The problem is that Manager text field shows the name as such:
[smith,, john]. Notice the two commas between the last and first name. There should only be
    one comma!
Anyone have an idea why the text field is appearing with two commas?
    Arnel

    Hi all,
I have a workaround for this. I have an InfoPath 2010 form pulling data from a SP2010 list. The user chooses a System (Business Unit) from the dropdown list and that choice auto populates the associated user (Manager) for that system. I had to
use concatenation, substring before and substring after to display the correct data.
    concat(substring-before(DisplayName, ",, "), ", ", substring-after(DisplayName, ",, "))
DisplayName is the original data for the field. I am able to cut & paste this field into the formula. Therefore, I added a few spaces to separate it from the actually formula for future use.
    Select Insert Function
    Select concat
Select the first link to double-click to insert field
    and then select Insert Function
Select the Text category and choose substring-before
Select the third link to double-click to insert field
    and then select Insert Function
Select the Text category and choose substring-after
Copy and paste your fieldname (in my case DisplayName) in the
    double-click to insert field
parts of the substring-before and substring-after links.
Delete the middle double-click to insert field link
Add quotes, spaces and commas so that they match the following format:
    concat(substring-before(DisplayName, ",, "), ", ", substring-after(DisplayName,
    Translation:
    concat(substring-before(Doe,, John, ",, "), ", ", substring-after(Doe,,
    John, ",, "))
Bring together all of the text before ",," (i.e. Doe) with ", " (comma, space) and all text after ",," (i.e. John).
    It should return
    Doe, John.
I hope this makes sense. I have these instructions with screenshots if you need them, contact me.

  • ADF view : auto commit delete  operation

I have created a ADF table with add and delete operation. When I perform delete operation it is not committing automatically.
Can you please suggest the way to auto commit the delete operation.
    Thanks,
    Kiran

    User,
please always tell us your jdev version as the solution might depend on it.
There is no auto commit in ADF. You can program it so that after an add or delete the data gets committed but there is nothing done automatically.
if you use a bounded task flow you can drag the operation from the data control onto the task flow and navigate to it after you have done the add or delete operation.

  • IPad Air brightness changing with auto brightness off.

I Have an iPad Air and the brightness is set to maximum and auto brightness is turned off.  After using the ipad the ipad brightness will increase dramatically and stay like this for anything up to five min, then it goes and reverts back to what it was. This all happening with auto brightness off. It's not overly dull and somewhat bright but after seeing the brightness go up further it looks a lot better. I have rest the ipad, reset the settings, checked the auto lock feature and calibrated the auto brightness feature. The only thing I haven't done is a fresh install of the Current iOS 7.1.2
Any suggestions as to why this is happening would be appreciated or if anyone has encountered the same problem.

  • Auto commit transaction

    Hi,
I am using BC4J with Struts to develop a web application. I want to auto commit whenever user creates new or update a record. I am doing following in XXXEditAction.java
    BC4JContext context = BC4JContext.getContext(request);
    context.getApplicationModule().getTransaction().commit();
It works sometime and doesn't sometimes and locks record. So Could anyone please help me in solving this.

    Hello,
Just a suggestion..try to catch RowInconsistentException exception and rollback the transaction.
    try {
    context.getApplicationModule().getTransaction().commit();
    } catch (RowInconsistentException e) {
    context.getApplicationModule().getTransaction().rollback();
    System.out.println("Some Exception in Commit : " +
    e.getMessage());

  • Include mask overlay with Auto Import preset.

It would be nice to automatically show an overlay mask in the picture as you Auto Import it via the Watched folder.
Most of the digital back software have this mask overlay posssibility.
All it does is it obscures the area you don't want to see (a bit like the crop tool, with adjustable black opacities, but without actually cropping the image).
The reasoning behind this is that you often need to take pictures with plenty of surrounding space in your layout, for instance, blank space to the right of left of the image for putting text, or to allow for multiple output formats, but at the time of viewing, you just want to concentrate on the masked area, free from distractions.
Art directors are always asking for this: "What would it look like when it's cropped?" You can go to the crop tool and show them, but it would be better and quicker to have an auto import overlay mask which you can flick on and off.

Sounds like another use for TPI's. Transparent PNG Images (Id Plates) that only have limited use and one at a time, now. Currently only usable in Slideshow and Print.
    See TPI's at Downloads
Lightroom Extra. We have been asking for expanded use of TPI's (which can be used for Framing and Watermarking) in Export and Web and now you have presented one more potential use bringing the need for there expanded capabilities even more to the fore.

  • Auto commit in BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA

    hi
i want to know whether there is an auto commit in this method BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA or do we need to explicitly commit
Correct answer will be suitably rewarded

    Hi Baldeep,
I dont think there is any parameter in this method which will let u know whether this method does an auto commit or not.
I normally execute the BAPI with the basic required data and check whether it is updating the database tables, and if the tables get updated then there is no need to explicitly commit or rollback, but if it does not update the database tables then I do an explicit commit.
I guess all this has got to do with the difference in creating master data and the transaction data. When ever u are using a bapi to create the master data u dont have to do an explicit commit. But when ur creating a transaction data in the database u have to do an explicit commit.
    Thanks
