Arrange dynamic objects into a shape...

Hey guys, I was wondering if I could get some help with a
project Im working on. I have a for loop that is duping an object 9
times for a total of 10 objects. I need to arrange those objects in
a circle. But since they're created dynamically I'd like to keep it
dynamic so instead of assigning an X and a Y to each one by
hardcode, does anyone know of an equation I can apply to my for
loop to assign the correct X's and Y's to each object to create my
circle shape?

Hey, kglad, or other. Do you know of a way to get those
dynamically created movieclips that are created in a circle to move
around the edge of the circle while keeping the same center point?
This guy is wanting some serious animation while trying to maintain
alot of dynamic capability... its starting to drive me nuts. :) Any
help would be awesome. I tried just timelining it using a guide
layer but the center point gets offset when the MC's get duped so
what it looks like is a huge circle of movieclips all moving in
unison, in a circluar motion, no actual revolving. Thanks in
advance mate.

  • Overlapping Objects-separate out shapes?

    Is there a way to separate overlapping objects into separate shapes and still maintain the overlapping result? Meaning two objects that overlap with a "mode" and slight "transparency" added to the overlapping (in front) object that results in a tone of sorts, as the intersecting shape? I hope I was somewhat clear as to what I am trying to achieve.
    An example is this logo that does something similar to what I'm trying to do. After layering all these objects over each other with different modes/transparency's separate each color as a shape but keep the overlapped color.
    Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
    ~Erick

    Of-course... divide. I need another brain tonic. LOL!
    The only thing I noticed is although it divides, it keeps the transparency mode for each shape created. Too bad there wasn't an option to eliminate the transparency and recolor instead of having to manually recolor. I know it sounds lazy but it sounds like a logical option to include.

  • Pasting multiple objects into frame

    Greetings everyone
    I was wondering if someone could shed some light on how to best paste multiple objects into a single frame.
    Mainly, I'm trying to nest objects that form a part of a newspaper article header; since it's a design element that keeps repeating with each single article I don't want to spend time with manually positioning the elements each time--it's time consuming and prone to sloppiness.
    Unfortunately, the base frame will have about three objects that need to be nested within it. Once I paste one object into a frame, the next time I do `Paste into`--the content (previously pasted object in this case) just gets overridden.
    I've read that, to paste multiple objects into a single frame, one should group the objects first. Now this works pretty well for getting them into the frame, but leaves me with no options to position them relative to the frame. I can't move or position an object individually and I have no option to ungroup them once they've been pasted.
    Here's a small mock-up to depict my peculiar predicament:
    Ideally, I'm aiming to have the main header frame to fit the content of the nested objects and for it to be flexible enough that I can quickly span it across multiple columns as per article requirements.

    !kRON wrote:
    For items that are part of the group, their (X,Y) location coordinates are relative to the document--neither to the group nor the parent frame. The group itself has coordinates that are relative to the parent frame (X+ offset, Y+ offset). I can select the group and the parent frame and use the align to selection options. For individual items, I cannot make a selection of both them and the frame, only between items that are part of a group. I loose options to align an individual item relative to the parent frame, which means I have to drag them around and rely on smart guides.
    I've tinkered around some more and it'd appear it's not possible to lay out the elements as I imagined. So I have to resort to grouping the items that would form a frame and pasting them into a frame. If multiple frames have to be members of a single frame I'd have to group the frames and paste them into the single frame and so on.
    Based on my layout mock-up, I'd end up with 3 frames within the header frame:
    Article header
    Heading
    Article type
    Separator
    Article heading
    Title
    Footer
    Author
    Shape
    Based on experience, should I go with this or stick with the old fashined moving around of loose elements? Will it be a lot of work to maintain resizing and repositioning of the various items and their frames once I start changing the width and height of the header frame or will it save me some time?
    I'm not a working designer or production worker, so anything new takes me longer than I think it should, because I don't have a rich reservoir of quick methods at my fingertips.
    Your description above interested me, because I've been wrestling with the annoying limitations of manipulating and adding compound objects in anchored frames. For many situations, it's probably simplest to assemble each iteration of a compound object, that introduces a new element, outside the anchored frame, then group the elements and paste the grouped object into the anchored frame.
    However, the arrangement of elements in your example made me think that a table might be a workable solution. The answer I arrived at is "Yes, it's a solution, but it takes a while to set up." If it's reusable easily, then it might be worthwhile investing in a few experiments.
    I've attached a zipped idml interchange version of the file, and also a PDF.
    Here are some notes:
    * I created a table with three rows and three columns, no header or footer rows. Three columns because I thought I'd paste a vertical line into an inline anchored frame in the center cell of the top row, for the separator line. Later, I realized that defining the vertical cell rule as paper color would suffice, so I merged the two right cells on the top row to create a two-column row, with text in each cell and the vertical separator between them.
    * I merged all three cells on the second row into a single cell.
    * I merged the two right cells on the bottom row, but later, when I moved the cell rule to position the triangular graphic in the inline anchored frame in the right cell, it moved the vertical cell rule in the first row. So, I had to unmerge (or split) the cells, and cut/paste the triangular graphic's anchored frame into the rightmost cell. To position the anchored frame, I moved the vertical cell rule with Shift+Drag, to keep the table width unchanged.
    * I sampled the purple color with the eyedropper tool while cells were selected and the swatch panel was set to fill the selected object.
    * I didn't spend much time matching the type, as you can see. To position the text, I adjusted the cell margins in some cases, and left/right indention in some cases; I'm not sure which is more efficient in situations where there will be different amounts of text to fit. I didn't create cell styles or paragraph styles (BAH! Bad, bad, bad process) because I won't be repeating this stuff, but you probably will benefit greatly from defining styles for your repeating needs.
    * The triangular cut into the bottom row made it easy to manage creating and positioning the graphic. A non-geometrical object might be trickier. The triangle is a text frame, set to negative space above, so it overlaps the cell above it, enough to avoid a black gap.
    * Except for the vertical paper-colored divider line, all the cells have zero-width strokes.
    * I created the table in a text frame, that I fitted down to the size of the table, but I can't remember if I selected, copied, and pasted the text frame into the text flow to anchor it, or if I selected the table in the text frame, copied and pasted it into the flow. Not sure if it makes a difference in work efficiency.
    If I understand your general needs, this should work well for changing text and adjusting the column widths.

  • Is it possible to turn a stroke into a shape? Is it possible to expand a shape so that it grows out?

    If I have an organic shape (ie not a square or circle) and I want to give it an outline, but not use stroke, if I place a copy of the shape below it and expand it then the outlines don't match up, and for very complex shapes it can be time consuming to adjust it. If I could put a stroke on it then extract it into a shape, that would be one way.
    Alternatively, is it possible to expand a shape so that it grows out, similiar to expanding a selection in Photoshop?
    I'm using Illustrator CS3, but let me know if it's possible in other versions.

  • How to cut and paste a picture into a shape in Illustrator CS4

    In illustrator CS4 I am trying to cut and paste a picture into a shape. In freehand the shortcut was so easy. I know there is one in Illustrator but cant remember what it is, can anyone tell me?

    K8,
    What Steve said, with the addition that you may get rid of the outlying parts, by:
    1) With the mask selected, in the Transparency palette dropdown select anything but Normal,
    2) Object>Flatten Transparency, no need to change options,
    unless you have withheld information and really want to distort the picture to fit the shape, in which case you should select both shape and picture and Object>Envelope Distort>Make with Top Object.
    The procedure 1) - 2) is destructive in case of vector artwork but makes no difference with raster images, and it makes it easier to avoid accidental/unwanted selection outside the  Clipping Mask.

    Can you please explain what you are trying to do in detail. Do you want to create a Node dynamically in the context or, you want to populate a Node in a Context???
    The stack trace, does not reveal what you want to do with the value object!

  • Dynamic Objects

    Hello *,
    this is kinda wierd but I got this little 'dumb' question.
    I am new to dynamic objects and I want to improve the application I am developing.
    I got an item as Select List (P620_AN_NAME) populated with User list, returning the USER_ID
    'select user_name display, id return from users'
    Beneath there is an item which shall display the city      according to the selected user's address.
    advanced dynamic action, set value (imgs below)
    e.g. 'select city from addresses' where ID_ADDRESS (foreign key) = :P620_AN_NAME.
    Unfortunately the city will be changed only once, even if I selected "live" and the value which is selected is NOT the returning value from the list but the first always.
    http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/5/dynt.jpg/
    http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/59/actionse.jpg/
    Where is my mistake located?

    hi,
    this might not related to your post regarding dynamic actions.
    but,
    you can do your requirement using the a process pl/sql,
    declare
    x varcdhar2(50);
    y varcdhar2(50);
    begin
    --x := :P620_AN_NAME;
    select city into y from addresses where ID_ADDRESS = :P620_AN_NAME;
    item_city := y;
    end;this will change the item value accordingly(when select list changes/submits the page).

  • Muliple Geometry Objects into a Single geometry

    Hello,
    Is it possible to store multiple geometry objects into one geometry. ie I am having an ARC and SHAPE geometry , I need to combine these geometries into one geometry .
    So that the geomtry which I have created is a container for ARC and SHAPE.
    Thanks in Advance
    Senthil

    Hi Senthil,
    I am confused a little by your terminology, so I will try to answer as best I can.
    A single geometry can be made from multiple elements.
    The elements that make up the geometry can be all the same kind (points, lines, polygons).
    The elements that make up the geometry can be heterogeneous (points and lines, lines and polygons, polygons and points, points lines and polygons). These are known as heterogeneous collections (sdo_gtype 2004 if 2 dimensional).

  • Newbie -arranging new objects query in CS4

    This will probably sound ridiculous, but I'm used to Illustrator 10, but newly graduated to CS4 Win( less than a week ago). This question has to do with  where new objects are created in the layers list. In the past, I'd highlight a path in the layers list and then when I created a new path/object..the new one would be right above the path I highlighted. In CS4, this ability seems to be gone..every new path/object appears at the very top of the current layers list, beyond any groups or sublayers.
    Is there a way to change this behavior so that I can choose where in the layers list I want the new object/path to be? It's very annoying to have to drag or key command a path to the desired place. I did find a workaround for it with isolation mode, but I'd prefer not to have to use that as toggling is also a nuisance ( granted.. I guess I can waste a macro on it?).
    Hopefully someone knows what control panel I need to find to change this, it's probably under my nose...  <:)

    Nah, I'm not talking about copying or pasting or arranging existing objects at all. All I'm saying is that NEW marks/objects/paths ( not copied ones) are always created at the top of the current layer, which is not always where I want it. For instance, say I want my next mark to be in layer 2, sublayer 1, group 3, above path 25... As in your video I'd hightlight this location -path 25, and then draw my mark....annnd it doesn't seem to appear in this part of the list and it's covering up something I didn't mean it to. After scrolling up through the list I find the new mark has happily asserted itself at the very top of the layer2 list, far above sublayer1, group 3 , path 25. What I wanted was it to become the new path 25, just above path 25 ( which would now be 26) in group 3, sublayer1, in layer2.
    I know I can then do as you demonstrate and move the new path to the desired location, I remember these commands from Ill 10 and used them quite often to do tones above flat colors. I just thought it'd be cool to draw in the tones with the blob brush instead of copy, paste in front of the flat shape and then hack away at it with cut, eraser ( which sadly in my illy 10 did not work) or reshape with anchors.
    It just perplexed me is that being able to have new objects create exactly where I want them in the first place would seem a unreasonable expectation. *shrug*

  • How can I insert values from table object into a regular table

    I have a table named "ITEM", an object "T_ITEM_OBJ", a table object "ITEM_TBL" and a stored procedure as below.
    CREATE TABLE ITEM
    ITEMID VARCHAR2(10) NOT NULL,
    PRODUCTID VARCHAR2(10) NOT NULL,
    LISTPRICE NUMBER(10,2),
    UNITCOST NUMBER(10,2),
    SUPPLIER INTEGER,
    STATUS VARCHAR2(2),
    ATTR1 VARCHAR2(80),
    ATTR2 VARCHAR2(80),
    ATTR3 VARCHAR2(80),
    ATTR4 VARCHAR2(80),
    ATTR5 VARCHAR2(80)
    TYPE T_ITEM_OBJ AS OBJECT
    ITEMID VARCHAR2(10),
    PRODUCTID VARCHAR2(10),
    LISTPRICE NUMBER(10,2),
    UNITCOST NUMBER(10,2),
    SUPPLIER INTEGER,
    STATUS VARCHAR2(2),
    ATTR1 VARCHAR2(80),
    ATTR2 VARCHAR2(80),
    ATTR3 VARCHAR2(80),
    ATTR4 VARCHAR2(80),
    ATTR5 VARCHAR2(80)
    TYPE ITEM_TBL AS TABLE OF T_ITEM_OBJ;
    PROCEDURE InsertItemByObj(p_item_tbl IN ITEM_TBL, p_Count OUT PLS_INTEGER);
    When I pass values from my java code through JDBC to this store procedure, how can I insert values from the "p_item_tbl" table object into ITEM table?
    In the stored procedure, I wrote the code as below but it doesn't work at all even I can see values if I use something like p_item_tbl(1).itemid. How can I fix the problem?
    INSERT INTO ITEM
    ITEMID,
    PRODUCTID,
    LISTPRICE,
    UNITCOST,
    STATUS,
    SUPPLIER,
    ATTR1
    ) SELECT ITEMID, PRODUCTID, LISTPRICE,
    UNITCOST, STATUS, SUPPLIER, ATTR1
    FROM TABLE( CAST(p_item_tbl AS ITEM_TBL) ) it
    WHERE it.ITEMID != NULL;
    COMMIT;
    Also, how can I count the number of objects in the table object p_item_tbl? and how can I use whole-loop or for-loop to retrieve values from the table object?
    Thanks.

    Sigh. I answered this in your other How can I convert table object into table record format?.

  • Error in IB (When trying to import objects into ESR from SLD or from server

    Hi Experts,
    We are facing an error with the Integration builder recently. When we open Enterprise Services Repository of PI 7.1, we are able to see the GUI with objects perfectly. When we try to import an object into the repository from the server ( In ESR, choose Tools -> Import Design objects -> From Server), we are thrown with an exception...
    Error when exectuting search (QUERY_ERROR)
    & java.lang.NullPointerException
    The server throws the above two exceptions. I have pasted the logs of the error when trying to import an object from the server and also from the sld, below.
    Have any of you experieced the issue? Request you to please check this out and suggest what the problem could be. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Rajeev,
    Thanks for your inputs. I myself am a basis guy. I ve already checked all the authorizations given to the user - PISUPER, and have found it to be fine. Can't understand why this security issue crops up still. anyways, i m getting this error when trying to import an object from the server. If i try to create a new object and during the process, try to import the SCV from SLD, i m facing with an error again, of a different sort. The log says...

  • How can I convert table object into table record format?

    I need to write a store procedure to convert table object into table record. The stored procedure will have a table object IN and then pass the data into another stored procedure with a table record IN. Data passed in may contain more than one record in the table object. Is there any example I can take a look? Thanks.

    I'm afraid it's a bit labourious but here's an example.
    I think it's a good idea to work with SQL objects rather than PL/SQL nested tables.
    SQL> CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE emp_t AS OBJECT
      2      (eno NUMBER(4)
      3      , ename  VARCHAR2(10)
      4      , job VARCHAR2(9)
      5      , mgr  NUMBER(4)
      6      , hiredate  DATE
      7      , sal  NUMBER(7,2)
      8      , comm  NUMBER(7,2)
      9      , deptno  NUMBER(2));
    10  /
    Type created.
    SQL> CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE staff_nt AS TABLE OF emp_t
      2  /
    Type created.
    SQL> Now we've got some Types let's use them. I've only implemented this as one public procedure but you can see the principles in action.
    SQL> CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE emp_utils AS
      2      TYPE EmpCurTyp IS REF CURSOR RETURN emp%ROWTYPE;
      3      PROCEDURE pop_emp (p_emps in staff_nt);
      4  END  emp_utils;
      5  /
    Package created.
    SQL> CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY emp_utils AS
      2      FUNCTION emp_obj_to_rows (p_emps IN staff_nt) RETURN EmpCurTyp IS
      3          rc EmpCurTyp;
      4      BEGIN
      5          OPEN rc FOR SELECT * FROM TABLE( CAST ( p_emps AS staff_nt ));
      6          RETURN rc;
      7      END  emp_obj_to_rows;
      8      PROCEDURE pop_emp (p_emps in staff_nt) is
      9          e_rec emp%ROWTYPE;
    10          l_emps EmpCurTyp;
    11      BEGIN
    12          l_emps := emp_obj_to_rows(p_emps);
    13          FETCH l_emps INTO e_rec;
    14          LOOP
    15              EXIT WHEN l_emps%NOTFOUND;
    16              INSERT INTO emp VALUES e_rec;
    17              FETCH l_emps INTO e_rec;
    18          END LOOP;
    19          CLOSE l_emps;
    20      END pop_emp;
    21  END;
    22  /
    Package body created.
    SQL>Looks good. Let's see it in action...
    SQL> DECLARE
      2      newbies staff_nt :=  staff_nt();
      3  BEGIN
      4      newbies.extend(2);
      5      newbies(1) := emp_t(7777, 'APC', 'CODER', 7902, sysdate, 1700, null, 40);
      6      newbies(2) := emp_t(7778, 'J RANDOM', 'HACKER', 7902, sysdate, 1800, null, 40);
      7      emp_utils.pop_emp(newbies);
      8  END;
      9  /
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    SQL> SELECT * FROM emp WHERE deptno = 40
      2  /
         EMPNO ENAME      JOB              MGR HIREDATE         SAL       COMM
        DEPTNO
          7777 APC        CODER           7902 17-NOV-05       1700

          7778 J RANDOM   HACKER          7902 17-NOV-05       1800
